Work Text:

Longing and Yearning were two nouns which could be used to describe the feeling Ochako Uraraka was feeling right now.

It felt lonely being cooped up all alone in her normally cozy home she shared with a certain green haired hero.

Her boyfriend Izuku, at age 21 was a superstar in the hero world. A young man who had just broken onto the hero scene, yet seemed destined for greatness.

All of that made her happy for him. Nobody deserved to be a hero more than Izuku, and no one else deserved the benefits of being a great hero as well.

However, just because she felt that he deserved nothing but the best, that didn't mean she had to particularly enjoy those "benefits" at times.

This specific occasion, was an example of that.

Currently, her boyfriend Izuku had been abroad in America for a little bit over a week. As a "benefit" for being one of the brightest and youngest stars in the pro hero world, He, along with their old schoolmates Todoroki and Bakugou, were sent to America as part of some sort of "diplomatic mission".

No-one was particularly enthused by this news. For example, when Bakugou first heard of this, he called it a "dumbass fucking waste of time" mixed with "Why the fuck do I have to go with Deku and that Icy-Hot ba stard?!?" Yes, Bakugou seemed to be less than thrilled to be reunited with the other two members of the "UA Big Three".

Even though the three were now great friends, Bakugou could still be such a tsundere at times.

The specific details of their "diplomatic mission" were pretty simple: Meet up with the top three rising young heroes from America, and go on patrol missions with them for two weeks.

That's right, two weeks. Which meant Ochako had to endure one more week of loneliness until she could see Deku again.

Of course, none of this affected Ochako's effectiveness in her hero work.

One of the reasons Deku was fine with leaving her alone for two weeks was that he knew that she was more than capable of taking care of herself.

She wasn't some useless damsel-in-distress. She was a superheroine and the world would soon know her name.

Deku, being the great boyfriend he was, FaceTimed her every day and gave her updates about how he was adjusting to America.

Even though she still got to see his face everyday, communicating through a phone screen was not nearly as good as communicating face to face.

Another thing that had her worried was that Deku hadn't FaceTimed her since last night. Usually, Deku would call her before going to bed and as soon as he would wakw up. She was worried because he hadn't called her in over 12 hours.

While she wasn't worried about his safety, because she knew that Deku was strong enough to overcome anything in path, she was still left pondering on why he hadn't called her since last night.

Right now, she was looking through photobooks that her and Izuku had made. Photos from their graduation, their first date, their trip to The Philippines, and etcetera all had flashed through her mind. This did nothing but increase the feeling of longing she felt.

Just as she was about to fall asleep due to the relaxing music emanating throughout her living room.

She heard the jangling of keys at the front door and her body perked up.

"Ochako! I'm hom-Ow!!" Deku couldn't finish as Ochako had tackled him to the floor.

"Izuku! Welcome home!" beamed Ochako as she flashed him a smile that nearly blinded him.

"Glad to be back" Izuku smiled as he embraced her in a hug.

When the two got off the floor, Ochako spent a couple of minutes questioning him. Izuku also took the moment to present her with some souvenirs he bought from America and decided to explain the reasoning of him not FaceTiming her.

"So... You didn't facetime me because you wanted to surprise me? Don't you know how worried I was? I don't know whether or not I want to punch you or kiss you right now!" Ochako huffed out with a her arms crossed as she sent a half-hearted glare towards him.

"I'd much rather prefer the latter" Izuku sheepishly stated.

"So, why'd ya get off a whole week earlier than expected?"

"Well, we were supposed to patrol all of this week as well, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be a smart idea for people to commit crimes with six of the strongest rising heroes in the world roaming the area. I mean, not to toot my own horn or anything". Stated Deku with the latter half of his statement being with his chest puffed out.

"When did you get so cocky?" Ochako playfully stated

"Whatever do you mean?" Izuku asked as he smirked at her.

"Oh yeah! So how were the American heroes like?" Ochako asked as she remembered the other question she wanted to ask him.

"They were pretty cool! They were really nice and we even sparred a little bit! One of them has this sort of quirk that allows him to shoot webs from his wrist like Sero!"

As she watched and listened to Deku gush about the new quirks he had witnessed, she gazed at him with love. The longing in her chest had all but disappeared.
