Work Text:
As they developed their first album together at Midnight Records, Bakugou had struggled not just with Izuku as a rival -- but the fact that he has a huge heart-pounding crush on him.
Izuku had a focus and polish to his music over the years that surprised Bakugou, and made him acknowledge that not only had he become a worthy rival and partner… Izuku is quite sweet to look at. He was no longer a scrawny boy, he found time to do weights and his body developed since then.
"Do you have a fight club or something?" Bakugou asked gruffly.
"Eh? No, I just exercise." Izuku replied, "When one's in shape they can expand their breath control for music."
And thank fuck for that, Bakugou thought. At first he was weirded out at how naturally that came as a response. But it happened, often.
And where others would swoon, it just made Bakugou more angry.
It at least made their debut more interesting.
"Midnight invests in rival schoolmates!" One gossip blog headline read, "Will animosity pay off?"
Bakugou thought he'd take comfort in sticking to the manufactured rivalry by keeping distance from Izuku.
Then Izuku too innocently prodded him about his birthday during one lock-in dance practice.
"Tell me what you want for your birthday Kacchan!"
"Nothing."
"Really? Hmn...from what I remember..."
And the stupid dork rattles off all the possible things Bakugou had taken to.
Bakugou finally snapped.
"Shut up, Midoriya, you asshole. I fucking want you, okay?!"
Izuku paused. "That was one other possibility, yes."
"What the fuck does that mean?!"
"Kacchan..." Izuku sighs, right before leaning in to kiss him.
Onstage and at work, Bakugou lives up to the public's perception of him. He is the deep-voiced rapper, the potty mouth, the bossy one. Izuku is who fans deem as the sunshine boy -- happy, perky, smiling. A fantastic foil for hot-tempered Bakugou, they say.
But behind the scenes, when they're alone, Bakugou let's go and gives in to Izuku.
He loves a good fight, the kind where he has to make Izuku earn his kisses and where they drive each other to the edge before fully giving in. He never even has to tell Izuku either -- he just knows, after all these years of working alongside him.
Izuku spoils him from other partners, Bakugou thinks. How many others just know what turns him on and how? His prowess makes Bakugou embarrassed by how he has to experiment to figure out what makes Izuku come.
Luckily, Izuku's accomodating.
Bakugou likes it best as his bottom, with Izuku's sweet voice dirty-talking him until he begs.
Nobody knows about them. And there is comfort in knowing that it's something that's just between the both of them.
+ULTRA THE LIVE
Their second stadium live had a goth setting for Halloween. For a brief interlude, Izuku drops to his knees in front of the audience and he's caught in the spotlight. The crowd cheers.
It's 45 minutes into the show, before the end of the first act, and he's breathing heavily out of exertion.
Bakugou swaggers up behind him. The lights turn red. Screams of glee and shock erupt from the audience, which rise as Bakugou drops behind Izuku and wraps his arms around him in a possessive embrace.
The crowd goes nuts.
The stage goes dark, and when the lights flood back in -- Izuku and Bakugou stand beside each other, center stage, with their back up dancers behind them.
The music starts. Izuku sings, as they pick up on their choreographed steps,
"My blood, sweat, and tears
My last dance too
Take it all away.
My blood, sweat, and tears
My cold breath too
Take it all away."
