MedicHoly. Christ. MY HEART WILL NEVER HEAL FROM THIS!!!!!!! So we start with medic in a small German town between the 2 world wars. He’s super good at school and smart with science and crap like that. He wants to join the family buisness and become a doctor! He’s parents run a pharmacy but they also harvest and smuggle human and non-human organs. Medics dad tells him that he’s able to graduate early and start going to college in Berlin! Yay! He says goodbyes to his sweet parents. Baby Lutz starts school and finds a job with a sweet family in Berlin. He’s really smart and meets this guy Gunther. He’s annoying but the two hit it off and start to work out together. (Also Ludwig says Gunther is attractive pspspsp) eventually the SS finds out that Lutz is skipping Hitler youth. His gramma was Jewish so he’s not very big on the whole “Nazi” thing. GUNTHER IS THO. HES CRAZY. He does Hitler youth and Gunther starts failing classes. He tries to get Ludwig to cheat, but Lutz chews him out and Gunther finds out that he is 1/4 a Jew. He uses this against him in school and Ludwig gets bad grades bc he’s not a nazi. Poor boy. He finishes college alone and gets drafted for WW2. His dad sends him with a warning and an “ily”. GUNTHER IS IN HIS DIVISION UH OH. But the two never talk. Lutz brings his guitar and always keeps a notebook with German phrases and guitar chords. He starts his work at the hospital and realizes that there’s not enough supplies for ANYBODY. He has to make tough choices of who lives and who dies. He has no time to write to his parents. He gets thoroughly traumatized and Medics start committing suicide. He comforts a Russian soldier as he dies and says “a life is a life”. BAHHHHDHDHSHDHSH He gets a random call from his parents telling him they love him and he cries a bunch. War ends and he goes home. Family he used to work for? Only the mom survived. His dad? Dead. He starts working as an organ smuggler and then has to go on the run. He starts practicing and snatches a guys skeleton who has cancer. He loses his medical license. He starts practicing in a back rooms sketchy place and STEALS A LADYS VOCAL CORDS BC SHE WAS LYING AB HER SON BEING SICK. He goes on the run again. He kills an old man to steal his house and then Pauling recruits him. This is such a beautiful fic. This is def In the top 3 fics I’ve ever read. AND ITS FINISHED. I wouldn’t even mind if it was 200,000 words. I will def be rereading this again and again and again. Beautiful work!
