Todoroki was a very stoic male. He hardly showed emotions and never showed fear. If you were to ask him, or anyone for that matter, he'd tell you he wasn't scared of anything. Though, that was a lie. Because ever since he was a baby, he had arachnophobia. Meaning he had a very, very, very big fear…...of spiders….. Yes, Shouto Todoroki's one fear, was spiders.
Why? He couldn't tell you, but he absolutely could not handle spiders. Just seeing one was enough to send him into hysterics. The first time he'd been scared was when he was around 4. It was after he get his quirk and he was just sitting in his room when he saw it. A spider the size of his hand crawling on the wall by his window. He screamed bloodly murder as he ran out his room at full speed. A reaction he almost always had.
There was no getting over his fear. Even his father had given up. The one time he forcefully brought him closer to the evil thing he passed out. His father just sighed really loud before killing it for him. He also got rid of the pest problems they had and Todoroki had a small grace period in his life.
The only time any of his classmates ever saw him freakout over a spider was on a Sunday. Most of his class was out and it was just him, Midoriya, Bakugou, Tokoyami, and iida in the kitchen eating. He wasn't even paying attention, simply eating his soba. When suddenly he felt something brush against his hair, but before he could even look up, a big brown spider dropped right into his bowl of food.
He immediately jumped up and backed away as fast as he could with a screech. The other looked at him in confusion.
"Todoroki-kun? You okay?" Midoriya tilted his head at the dule-haired boy. They all seemed quite surprised when he started to cry.
"S-s-spi-spider!" He sputtered, staring at the bowl as the spider in question crawled out. "Get it please. G-get it!" He squeaked, shaking violently. Bakugou started laughing, while iida took pity on him and managed to get the spider and left the kitchen. Once he left, along with the spider, Todoroki calmed down a little. He let out a cross between a sigh and a sob, hanging his head and clutching the front of his shirt.
"Todoroki-kun, are you scared of spiders?" Midoriya asked, and Todoroki could just hear the smile in his voice.
"Y-yeah. I have arachnophobia. Bad…" He muttered, clearing the remaining tears from his face. He didn't really want to go back to the table.
"Really? Of all things, fucking spiders?" Bakugou laughed. Todoroki sent him a harsh glare, though it was dulled by his tear stained face.
"It's a fair fear. Just…. Your reaction was surprising." Tokoyami muttered. Todoroki blushed slightly.
"I have some of the worst reactions as arachnophobic"
"It's not funny!" He huffed. Bakugou just continued laughing. Todoroki turned on his heal and sped out to his bedroom, losing any appetite.
Todoroki refused to eat in there for a few weeks.
