No One Said It Was Simple

Summary:

Unfortunately for him, out of all people in the world, Kirishima just had to fall for an asshole that goes by the name of Bakugou Katsuki. And for the first time in his lifetime Bakugou doesn't know how to respond.

Notes:

Hey, so this is based off of an actual situation that happened to me and my best friend over the course of the past year, the only notable difference is that we're both girls. Kirishima plays the part of my best friend (she is an amazing ray of sunshine) and Bakugou plays the part of me (I'm kinda an asshole, I know) and I promise, even if things get bad there is a happy ending for our boys.

Chapter 1: Sharing Secrets

Summary:

Kirishima has something important to tell Bakugou.

Chapter Text

Bakugou Katsuki was never one to have many friends as a kid. It’s not that he was outcast or anything, quite the opposite actually, throughout elementary and middle school he was very popular, still he just never had any real friendships. He supposed it was because people are scare of him, after all he does have kind of a “touch me and I’ll kill you” kind of aura.

Despite always being really popular in school, he always felt a bit lonely, because the followers he had were hardly people he could talk to about anything and his parents were never really open about their emotions either so he was left keeping everything thing he felt to himself. He would always pretend that it didn’t bother him though because after all he did have to maintain the cool persona that he took years to develop.

After coming to UA, things changed a bit. Bakugou still had that threatening attitude and scary behavior, but as for friends, he got a lot better. He would never admit it out loud, but the group of friends that has been given the title the “Bakusquad" have actually been the first people he has even gotten even close to trusting, which is something Bakugou isn’t used to. In a similar fashion, the squad seems to trust him to, which is something that Bakugou has never experienced before. Still, it felt nice having a group of people who are open with him, except he would never actually tell them that.

It was jus a normal Sunday and Bakugou was home for the weekend, he was chilling on his bed scrolling through Instagram, trying to enjoy the last few hours of freedom he had before school started back up on Monday.

Suddenly his phone dinged showing that he got a text from Kirishima, he figured it was just a stupid meme of something as those are often the type of things that Kirishima sends with no context whatsoever so he decided to open, to his surprise, it’s not a meme though.

Shitty Hair: Hey, bro, sorry to bother you, but are you free right now, I kinda want to talk to you.

Bakugou was confused, Kirishima never used proper grammar, what was up, did someone take his phone or something, or did he just have something really important to tell him?

BakuBRO: Sure whatever not doing anything important.

Shitty Hair: So I just want you to know that you’re the first person I’m telling this too, so I want it to stay between you and me right now. You’re the person I trust the most so I wanted you to know first.

Now Bakugou was really confused, Kirishima even used the right you’re, meaning whatever he was about to say meant a lot to him. He even said he trusted Bakugou the most, that was even weirder.

BakuBRO: Ya ok im all ears

Shitty Hair: Okay, so here it goes…

Shitty Hair: I’m gay

Shitty Hair: and I know it’s weird to come out over text, but I tried to do it multiple times in person, but I couldn’t get myself to say the words out loud. You’re my best friend and I don’t want this to change anything between us and I don’t want you to hate me or anything.

Bakugou stared at his phone in shock. The more he thought about it the more Kirishima being gay did make sense, not that Katsuki supported stereotypes or anything, but the red headed boy was always trying to prove his manliness as if to convince others he was straight.

Also the comment about him trying to come out in person, but not being able to made sense too, Kirishima had been trying to talk to Bakugou about something for a few weeks now but always turned into a mumbling mess before he could even say a coherent sentence. Suddenly, Bakugou’s phone dinged again.

Shitty Hair: OMG are you mad, you haven’t responded in like 5 minutes, are you okay??

Katsuki turned back to his phone and responded immediately.

BakuBRO: What no! Of course not, I’m just surprised is all, but I totally support you. I know I’m an asshole, but do you really think I’m so much of an asshole that I would abandon my friend because he was gay, no!

Shitty Hair: Oh, thank god, I’m glad your being so nice about this.

Shitty Hair: Oo, I gotta go, my mom calling me. C u at school tmrw.

BakuBRO: Ya, you two, goodnight, dumbass.

Katsuki smiled to himself, there was the Kirishima with the horrid grammar and spelling that he knew. Katsuki wouldn’t ever tell Kirishima this, but he’s kind of glad the red headed boy trusted him enough to come out to him first, it made him feel good
