Work Text:

Shouta stared at the cockatoo sitting in the cage on his kitchen table, arms crossed. “Not happening, ‘Zashi.”

The bird in question squawked in protest, clinging to the bars of the cage, bobbing his head and peering at the raven-haired man. “OUT. OUT, OUT, OUT!”

“Hizashi, for the last time, no.”

He didn’t know how he’d gotten into this situation. Well, actually, he had. There had been a fight with a villain, one who had been going around turning people into animals. His boyfriend had been there, and had the misfortune of being turned into a cockatoo. A cockatoo, of all things.
It fit him, Shouta admitted. Not that he liked it. At all.

Recovery Girl had said Hizashi knew what was going on, vaguely,  and she had advised that Shouta take care of him, as it had to be overwhelmingly stressful for the loud blond. He’d taken him home, and general chaos had followed.
Aware of the fact he was a bird or not, that didn’t stop Hizashi from trying to do his normal things. He tried to get a box of cereal from the cupboard, and it  ended with a mess, cheerios all over the floor and Hizashi eating them happily. Shouta hadn’t been impressed, to say the least.

After he had cleaned it up, Hizashi had flown around the house, screaming “PUT YOUR HANDS UP!” and then flown into a window. Thankfully, he hadn't been hurt, just a bit stunned, to Shouta's relief.
And THEN, Hizashi had sat on his knee, getting his head petted by Shouta, when the cat tried to eat him. Which resulted in Hizashi being put in the cage the raven-haired man  had been supplied with (though the last thing hadn’t really been Hizashi’s fault).

“Shoutaaa,” Hizashi trilled at him, and he sighed. “You’re even more annoying like this, ‘Zashi,” He told the bird, earning a head tilt.

“Shouta Shouta Shouta.”

“I know, Hizashi. You should be back to normal soon.” He put a finger through the bars, petting the loud cockatoo on the head. He made a note to have his boyfriend out of the cage before he did return to normal. That wouldn’t be good if he changed back and was in a little cage.
Hizashi nipped his finger, and Shouta yanked his hand back, glaring. “What the hell?”

“OUT!” Hizashi replied, flapping his wings.

“FINE.”

Shouta unlocked the cage, “If you get pounced on, it’s your problem. Just saying.”

“BAAAAD KITTY!” Hizashi screeched. Then he hopped over to Shouta, bopping his head against his hand. “Shouta.”

The raven-haired man sighed and obliged, petting the demanding cockatoo.

When he was back to normal, Hizashi apologized, hugging him. “Sorry for all that, babe.”
He rolled his eyes. “It’s fine. You know, you’re annoying as a bird, too.”
“BABE. I am NOT.”
“Definitely are too,” Shouta retorted, kissing the blond before he could reply.
