Work Text:

Hizashi set the cat carrier on the bed, double checking to make sure the bedroom door was firmly shut, before opening it.  He sat on the bed, jostling the cage a little. “It’s alright now, Sho, we’re home,” he coaxed.

A black nose poked out of the carrier, sniffing. Then Shota glared out at him, meowing irritably as he left the carrier. The very same villain that had turned Hizashi into a cockatoo  just a few weeks ago had now turned his boyfriend into a fluffy black cat. And he had to admit, it was the cutest thing he had ever seen, though he was pissed the villain had gotten away ( AGAIN)  and turned his boyfriend into a tiny, grumpy ball of fur.

He reached out a hand and petted Sho, trying not to laugh at him, though he himself was anxious about the situation.  The cat hissed and jumped off the bed, scooting under it.
He sighed and slid to the floor, “Come on, babe. I know it’s scary--”

Shouta growled at him.

“--But you’re safe.”

The cat stayed firmly under the bed, and Hizashi got to his feet, sighing again. He couldn’t exactly force Shouta to come out from under there. He remembered how it felt to be trapped in a tiny body, helpless. His boyfriend  needed a few minutes, and he could give him that.
Recovery Girl had tutted when he brought him into the infirmary, then gave him the same instructions she had presumably given Shouta when he was a bird.

Make sure he stayed unstressed as possible, make him feel safe, and give him everything he might need.
The quirk only lasted a few hours; it wasn’t a powerful quirk, but it certainly was a pain in the ass.

Hizashi lay on the bed, picking up his phone, scrolling through social media for a few minutes. After a while, the bed dipped, and Shouta stepped on his leg, walking up his body until he stopped to curl up on his chest.

Hizashi stroked him, and Sho rubbed his face against his hand, a faint purr emitting from him. He looked surprised at the noise he was making, and Hizashi snorted, earning an annoyed look.

He continued petting Sho, still scrolling through his phone. Which made Sho stand up again, wobbling a bit to keep his balance, and swat at the device, obviously wanting to be the only thing the blond was paying attention to.

So adorable, Hizashi thought to himself, lips twitching into a smile.

“Aw, jealous, babe?” He teased a little, and Shouta turned his head away haughtily, now lying back down on his chest, still purring.
He petted him for awhile, until his eyes grew heavy, and he found himself unintentionally falling asleep.

When he woke up, the bedroom door was open and there was the sound of pots and pans being moved around, and faint cursing. Hizashi rolled out of bed, brushing black cat fur off his shirt, and made a beeline to the kitchen.

Shouta looked over his shoulder at him, huffing. “About time.”

“Hey, looking after the kitty version of you tired me out,” Hizashi retorted, laughing as his boyfriend swatted him, grumbling.

“Right. All we did was lay there.”

The blond hummed, hugging Sho from behind, kissing him behind the ear. “Glad you’re back, babe.”

Shouta leaned back against him, turning his head to kiss his cheek. “Thanks for taking care of me.”
