Warmth

Summary:

Touya is homesick. Luckily, his helpful and handsome as hell roommate helps him to cheer up a bit.

Notes:

Day 1: School days.

Work Text:

At first, Touya thought that moving out from the house he spent his childhood was the best thing that could happen to him. Being away from his father’s constant bossy behavior was a dream come true, but it didn’t mean there were things he didn’t miss.

First of all, there were his three siblings: his 15 year old little sister, 11 year old younger brother and his only 8 year old youngest brother. He still remembered how much Shouto cried on the day he left the house to move into U.A.’s dorms and how he begged him to stay. Thankfully, Fuyumi and Natsuo could pull him away eventually, but it broke Touya’s heart nonetheless.

Second of all, it was the dorm system itself. Touya had never been a really social person. He wasn’t anti-social, nothing like that, he just liked when there were only a few people in a friend circle. Unfortunately, he was sure that dorms weren’t places where he could find a friend group like that if the more than 100 people at the first night party were something to go by.

However, the worst thing was the roommate system. For the record, Touya hated only one thing better than being around lots of people – sharing his personal space with one 7/24.

Yes, he had little siblings and Shouto slept in his bed at night from time to time when he had bad dreams, but all of them had their own rooms where they can go if they craved for some alone time. In the dorms – apparently – he didn’t have the chance for that.

He side-eyed the other boy packing out his things to his desk and his clothes in their shared closet. He had a bit spiky blond hair and honey colored eyes. If he wanted to be totally honest, he didn’t look that bad.

”-ou okay?” Touya heard the voice all of the sudden, which pulled him back from his thought.

He blinked a few times, till he registered the sight in front of him – which was his roommate kneeling there, leaning too much into his personal space. He let out a not so manly yelp and fell back on his butt. The blonde let out a laugh and Touya frowned.

”Are you always this chirming when you meet someone new?” He asked with venom in his voice, but it didn’t falter the other.

”Just when my new acquaintance behaves this cute,” the boy answered, lowering his eyelids – Touya wanted nothing more than punching him in the face.

”Should I take this as a compliment?” He asked drily and turned back to his suitcase. He restarted packing his things out on his bed. He heard a small chuckle from behind him and he narrowed his eyes.

” Yep, one hundred percent!” The boy said, then leaned close to his ear. ”I only compliment those who deserve it, Hot Stuff,” he whispered and Touya felt his ears burning. Didn’t this guy have any idea about personal space?!

As the day went on, Touya found out his roommate’s real name was Takami Keigo – tho, in his opinion, bird brain fit him better. With how enthusiastic he was during unpacking, he reminded him of a nesting bird. He had to hold back his laughter more than once because of that thought and Takami gave him strange looks every time it happened.

When night rolled in, both of them were lying in their bunk bed. Keigo was kind enough and gave him the lower bed, for which Touya was thankful. He always moved a lot while sleeping, so there was a great chance of him falling – which he wanted to avoid if possible.

With every passing minute, falling asleep seemed harder and harder for Touya, no matter how hard he tried to squeeze his eyes shut, instead of the so wanted darkness, he saw the faces of his siblings and mother. He heard a sniffle leaving his lips and cursed inwardly.

He let out a resigned sigh, accepting the fact that he wouldn’t sleep that night when he felt two arms hugging him from behind.

”What the hell?!” He whisper-shouted, trying to hold back the building up scream in his throat.

”You tossed and turned a lot, so I thought I would check on you,” Takami explained, totally clam, ”and then I heard you sniffle.” Touya was seconds away from elbowing him in the ribs.

”Come on, laugh! I know you want to!” He said angrily, trying to wriggle out of the other’s arms, but the blonde’s hug was stronger than he thought.

”Why would I? Feeling homesick at the first night of college life is totally normal,” he said as if he was an expert.

”What about you, then?” Touya asked, but stopped trying fleeting himself.

”I’ve been in the system since I was six, so I never have a home in the traditional sense,” the other said matter of factly and Touya wanted to kick his own butt. He turned around in his roommate’s arms and wrapped his arms around his middle. ”What? You give me pity cuddles now?” The blonde asked and Touya pinched him in the side.

”Cuddling always help me to relax, so shut up and take it,” he said, trying to hide his face subtle in the other’s chest with no avail. The bastard had to notice it – he just had to!

He felt a laugh rumbling up from the other’s chest and the arms around him hugged him tighter. When those lips brushed the top of his head, the redhead forgot how to breathe for a second.

”Thanks, Touya,” the other said and Touya knew in that exact moment that he was screwed up.
