Chapter Text
The small shop’s door rang with a delicate chime, alerting the workers that a few new customers had entered the shop. The smell of tea, cake, and coffee immediately hitting the noses of the medium-sized group of males who had decided to enter the shop at this moment.
“Welcome in, masters.” A taller female approached the group, bowing politely towards them all. “If you would give me a moment, I can find tables to accommodate you all.”
The girl with white hair tied into a single long braid turned, looking to grab the attention of another employee. They started to move around tables, trying to organize a space for the group who had arrived in such a large number and without calling ahead.
As the waitress’ worked to accommodate their new customers, a male with straw blonde hair who had been leading the group towards this destination looked to be buzzing with excitement for this day.
Kaminari had for a long time now been raving about the new cafe that had opened up a little ways away from UA. Apparently it wasn’t just any sort of cafe though, and it appeared that for once Kaminari had kept the theme of the cafe secret until everyone had walked in.
It looked like a maid cafe had opened up near UA. And the place was already buzzing.
The maid with snow-white hair returned, motioning for the group to follow her. She pointed to two large tables, looking to each be made of two smaller tables. Her companion workers setting out menus as the boys took their seats.
Kaminari was beaming happily, waiting for the waitresses to leave before he spoke. Sure his little group had been separated… but at least he could still talk and hear the reactions of those who were closer to him.
“So…?” The electric blonde chuckled.
“It’s definitely a maid cafe…” Sero muttered, seeing another patron ring a bell and a maid with red hair walk over to see what he wanted.
“It’s cool though isn’t it?!” Kaminari declared, seeing the others at his table give him annoyed, but not surprised looks.
Kaminari almost couldn’t believe he got this far with his plan to take some of his bros to this little cafe. Not only did the girls of class 1-A not find out, but Iida just so happened to be busy with class rep work… thus Kaminari would not be lectured about liking maid cafes.
Plus… seeing as he scored 8 others from his class, he was pretty damn proud of himself. Sitting at his table with him were Kirishima, Sero, and Bakugou. And right next to this table were Midoriya, Shinsou, Todoroki, Ojirou, and Tokoyami.
“Is there a certain maid you’d like to serve you today, masters?” A girl with short black haired asked, seeming to say the last word with a certain amount of poison.
“Could we please have Tsukki?” Kaminari requested, showing his friends that this was clearly not his first time here.
“Yes… master.” The dark-haired girl choked out, turning on her heel and walking away.
Kirishima blinked. “I feel a little bad… I don’t think some of them like the gimmick of this place…”
Kaminari laughed. “Naw that’s just Chiyo. She’s the tsundere maid.”
“Tsundere?” Todoroki asked as he and the others at his table pushed their tables towards their classmates.
“Oh! Not educated in the love-struck personality types?” Kaminari smiled. “Well… to put it simply, not only are there maids here, but each is a certain -dere type as well. It makes each maid feel different than the last!”
“You’ve been here often… haven’t you?” Shinsou sighed.
“I’ve had every maid here at least once… and even the two butlers once by accident…” Kaminari admitted, but then suddenly pointed out towards the servers. “Now lemme get you all acquainted to the cute maids of this cafe!”
He pointed towards the same short-haired ravenette running the counter now. “That’s Chiyo. She’s the tsundere. So expect a lot of harassing words from her, but she’s also soft at her core.”
Then towards a smaller female who was clearing a table. White hair mixed with blue and on the shorter side. “That’s Sky. She’s the kuudere. She’s rather cold, but pretty cute when she warms up to you.”
Kaminari waved towards a girl with pink hair bringing food to a table nearby. “Right there is Reiki. She’s the bodere maid! Emotionless like a kuudere, but can be as riled up as the tsundere when embarrassed.”
Kaminari spotted the last maid who seemed to be on shift this late afternoon. The red-haired girl who was taking orders from a table across the cafe floor.
“The redhead is Amelia. She’s the dandere. Shy and anti-social, but is a real sweet person when she decides she likes you.”
Kaminari watched with wide eyes as his favorite maid came bouncing over though. Her white hair and red eyes being immediate things that would catch one’s eyes. Doing a quick little twirl, she flashed a smile and a wink towards her clients.
“Hello hello! And welcome to maid-dere! I’m Tsukki.” The maid spoke. “I’m your super cute, friendly and bubbly deredere type! So I hope you’re all ready for some service with a side of chatter!”
Tsukki finished her little greeting, told them the specials for today and then left to give them all some time to decide on their meals and drinks. Kaminari and her making conversation a few times, further proving Kaminari was indeed a regular at this establishment.
“Tsukki’s the best! You guys will love her!” Kaminari beamed, blush on his cheeks. “Plus if you all come as regular as me… you’ll see the other workers. They shift roles every day and some are off today.”
“There’s a sheet with all their names and pictures…” Tokoyami pointed out, reading the list. “It looks like this cafe has two male employees and seven female employees.”
“A decently sized staff.” Ojirou commented, not sure what else to talk about.
Midoriya held his menu as close as he could, feeling rather embarrassed being in a place like this. As he glanced around the table, it seemed that it was only him, Kirishima, and Ojirou who were outwardly blushing and embarrassed.
Kaminari looked completely in his happy place. Shinsou and Todoroki looked bored. Sero looked a bit confused with a dash of intrigue. Tokoyami was glancing over the menu, seeming to be debating on what to get. And Bakugou… well, he looked to be more concerned with what was on his phone.
Midoriya let out a huff, seeing as maybe he could make an escape now before he got suckered into actually doing anything weird here.
“Have you decided on something, master?” Tsuuki’s voice returned, making Midoriya let out a scream.
Everyone turned to look at the green-haired male, aside from an ash blonde who was ignoring everyone. Tsukki giggled lightly, opening her notepad to take orders. Midoriya stuttered out a response, trapped at the maid cafe now. Soon enough, the albino maid had made her way around to nearly everyone.
“A beef curry and a ramune soda for me.” Kirishima spoke, watching Tsukki nod.
“What about you, master?” Tsukki pointed towards Sero.
Sero rubbed the back of his head. “I know its not on the menu… but could I just have some plain noodles with butter and a glass of water?”
“Seems kinda plain for you…” Kaminari spoke, knowing Sero usually liked flavorful things.
Sero laughed. “What can I say… been craving it. Guess my connection is going strong today.”
Tsukki nodded. “Well, your soulmate has good taste. I like buttered noodles too!”
Sero smiled, a soft blush coming onto his features. Tsukki then turned to the last person, repeating her question for his food order. Only was met with no response. Bakugou only continued to scroll through his device.
“U-um, master?” Tsukki spoke again, wondering if he was just a tough sell.
“Oh hold on…” Kirishima suddenly spoke, poking Bakugou’s shoulder.
Bakugou glanced over and saw Kirishima pointing towards the ash blonde’s ears. Bakugou rolled his eyes and rose a hand towards his head. Tsukki watched as the ash-blonde gently pressed a button for a device she had previously not seen attached to his ears.
“What?” Bakugou asked, irritation strong in his voice.
“We’re ordering food.” Kirishima told him.
Bakugou shrugged. “Something spicy, and a cola.”
Tsukki nodded happily and skipped away. As she did, the conversation turned back to Bakugou.
“Did you turn them off the entire time we’ve been here?!” Kaminari looked rather upset.
“I was dragged along by Kirishima… so why the hell should I listen to your stupid perverted mouth?” Bakugou spoke, clicking the pair of devices off once more and returning to zoning out.
He was hungry… but under no circumstance would he humor Kaminari with this ridiculous place.
“Hey! The food here is great!” Kaminari started and then deadpanned. “He turned his hearing aids off already… didn’t he?”
Kirishima nodded. “Afraid so…”
Kaminari sighed in exhaustion, but couldn’t stay mad for long. This was his happy place after all and not even Bakugou literally not listening to him or anyone else could change that.
Kaminari hummed gently, tapping his fingers against the table as everyone waited and made conversation. Eventually catching a few people’s attention from how continuous he was with his little tune.
“What song are you humming?” Midoriya asked, glad to distract himself with a conversation.
Kaminari chuckled, running a hand through his hair. “I’d sure love to know… they’ve been listening to whatever this one is non-stop for the last three days…”
“Your soulmate bond sounds a bit annoying…” Shinsou commented.
“It can be… but at least my soulmate has good taste in music.” Kaminari shrugged.
“Better than me.” Shinsou sighed. “I see her every night… yet can’t remember her face or name when I wake up.”
“That sucks…” Kaminari patted Shinsou’s back. “But you could be like Kiri and have a weird pink stripe in your hair.”
“Hey man, I didn’t make fun of your connection.” Kirishima put his hands up as if he was surrendering.
“It’s not nice to make fun of other people’s soulmate bonds, Kaminari.” Sero scolded and teased his friend. “Did you not pay attention to that lesson in primary school?”
Kaminari lightly slapped Sero’s shoulder, but still continued the conversation. He glanced over towards the other males. “Hey speaking of soulmate bonds… you guys never had the chance to share what yours were when we were at training camp.”
“Spirit animals only we can see.” Tokoyami spoke gently. “Mine is a raven… and my soulmate’s is a frog.”
“Wait did you meet them?!” Kaminari practically yelled.
Tokoyami only cracked a little smile. “I’m not a liberty to say.”
“What does that mean…?” Sero blinked.
“Ojirou, Midoriya, Todoroki! What about you guys?” Kaminari now looked pumped to learn of his other classmate’s unique bonds.
“I get a text message every night of something my soulmate did or said that day.” Ojirou said and showed his messages.
“Cool!” Kaminari smiled, looking to the last two people.
“I-I have soul pain when my soulmate is in danger.” Midoriya spoke, looking nervous to share.
“We share injuries with one another.” Todoroki responded. “Only minor injuries though… like bruises, cuts, and scrapes.”
Kaminari’s smile went away and he looked rather conflicted. “Oh… I’m sorry guys. I didn’t mean to ask about personal stuff.”
“It’s not a problem.” Todoroki shook his head.
“I’m curious what yours is though, Bakugou?” Kaminari spoke.
Bakugou didn’t respond and Kaminari deadpanned.
“Awe right… you’re deaf on purpose right now.” Kaminari huffed and then turned to Midoriya.
“Midoriya, you’ve known Bakugou the longest… any idea what his secret bond is?” Kaminari was almost begging.
Lucky for Midoriya, an array of food and drinks arrived before he was peer pressured into saying that he didn’t know. Food brought an end to the conversation and soon after, the group of UA High School boys all paying and thanking the establishment for the meal.
“The food was actually really good.” Ojirou smiled, walking off with Tokoyami, Shinsou, and Sero.
As the four males walked back, the remaining five seemed to be distracted. The news program had caught the attention of four of them, as the fifth finished paying his tab.
“ This confirms a fifth incident in the past month. ” The reporter spoke. “ Currently the investigation for the missing girls has not gathered any substantial evidence or leads despite the efforts of several hero agencies. ”
“Another girl’s missing?” Kirishima asked as he finished paying.
“Yeah… makes for fifteen in the last three months.” Kaminari shook his head. “Some messed up people in this world to kidnap others.”
“My father’s been hired to look into things…” Todoroki commented suddenly. “The city he operates in has been affected the most.
Midoriya blinked. “Wait… isn’t that city Tokyo... the same one we live in?”
“Yes.” Todoroki nodded.
“Crap… we should tell the girls to be safe.” Kirishima spoke, worry growing in him.
“ In other news- ” The reporter drove them back to the screen hanging in the waiting area of the cafe. “ -the vigilante group has once more gotten in the way of pro-heroes- ”
“Is there anything else I can help you with?” The black-haired female asked, looking rather impatient.
Kaminari immediately tensed up. “N-no Amarante-san! W-we were just leaving!”
“You better…” Amarante shook her head. “Now… get out.”
The boys left on that note. The stare that girl was giving them all seemed to be telling them to not loiter any longer. The sounds of someone letting out a pained scream and shattering glasses echoed as they left.
Kirishima and Midoriya turning to see Tsukki had accidentally spilled tea on one of her fellow servers. But nothing too bad, leaving the males to catch up tot heir friends.
“What was with you a few moments ago?” Bakugou asked, seeming to allow noise back into his world. “You sounded like fucking Deku…”
Kaminari shivered. “Amarante and Ash run the banning list. If you do anything they don’t like… you get banned from entering the shop. So I’ve tried to stay on their good side. And Amarante… hates loitering. She thinks the guys who do that are perving out on the other girls. Plus-”
Kaminari paused, blinking as he caught something strange on Bakugou. Shimmering little droplets barely holding onto his eyes. The male furiously wiping them away before they could spill out onto his face.
“You okay, Bakugou?” Kaminari asked.
Bakugou merely rolled his eyes and turned his hearing aids off again. “Do I look like I want to answer your shitty questions, Dunce Face?”
With that, the ash-blonde stormed ahead. But Kaminari only shrugged. So long as he got to come back to the maid cafe… he didn’t care. His happy place was here… and not even Bakugou’s weird moods could change that.
Nothing could.
