The silence that follows makes Jiang Cheng think he lost his hearing for a moment. It’s such a loud silence it even washes out the wailing of the storm outside.
Lan Wangji looks like he is contemplating something. Jiang Cheng hopes he doesn’t draw it out for too long; he suddenly doesn’t feel very well. Lan Wangji takes a sharp breath and-
“You killed my soulmate, and you're still asking?”

Jiang Cheng let Wei WuXian leave with Lan Wangji.
Or in other words, 16 years is a long time and Jiang Cheng comes to realize Wei WuXian wasn't the evil bastard everyone said him to be.
