Shigaraki honestly wasn't expecting his day to go like this, standing over a malnourished kitten alone in the alleyway next to the bar. The black kitten looked up at Shigaraki and mewled pathetically. The rational side of him told him to just kill it, it was going to die anyway. With a slight sigh, Tomura took off his gloved hand, reaching out for the thing. Seemingly without a care, it crawled towards his hand, meowing again as the matted fur on it's head made brief contact with the back of his hand. Shigaraki keep his hand still, letting the kitten rub its tiny face over the back and side of his hand. Bright yellow eyes meet his own, and he remembered just how alone he had been in an alleyway similar to this. No family, no money, nothing except the fact he was most likely going to die by himself of starvation.
"You're lucky," He whispered, patting the kittens head with his pointer and middle finger.
Shigaraki pulled his finger glove back on, scooping up the poor animal in his cupped hands. Once he moved out of the darkness, he could almost clearly see every rib. The kitten mewled, laying its head down on Shigarakis's hand. Carefully, oh so carefully, he opened the bar's door. Dabi was on the tattered sofa, smoking and watching Toga play what looked like Mario Kart. Kurogiri was in his normal place behind the bar cleaning glasses. His eyes went to the door as Shigaraki unceremoniously bust in.
"What is in your hands, Shigaraki Tomura?" He asked, setting down the shot glass. The blue haired male glared slightly, turning his head to find Dabi and Toga also looking at him.
"This...kitten. I found it outside."
Toga sprung to her feet instantly, a wide smile on her face.
"I wanna see!" She squealed, running over, peering into Shigaraki's hands. "Its so cute!" She cooed, "Are you gonna take care of it?"
Dabi let out a huff still on the couch. He snuffed out his cigarette before responding. "He better. I don't want cat piss in my room."
Shigaraki looked down at the kitten, feeling his heart lurch as the tiny baby blinked tiredly at him.
"I need one of your better washcloths, Kurogiri," Shigaraki said, taking it from the black wispy fingers who had produced it as soon as he asked. Toga watched, still eerily smiling as the blue haired man wrapped it up gently. Toga bounced up and down on her heels, "It's a little purrito!"
Dabi and Shigaraki both groaned. After a moment of thinking, Tomura opened his mouth.
"I need some food, litter box, toys..." Red eyes shifted to Dabi who turned to look right back at him.
"Fuck man, I don't wanna go back out," He whined but gave up when Toga hit him with a pillow until he walked through the portal Kurogiri opened leading to the store. Toga skipped over to her friend with the same pillow, putting it under the wrapped kitten.
"You'll be ok," She said simply, making a few kissy faces at it before moving away. Shigaraki took a seat at the bar, looking at the small kitten thinking of what to call it. Kurogiri brought a small cup of water for the creature, setting it down before its little face. It meowed again, crawling a little out of its blanket so it could drink. Shigaraki felt a smile quirk up on his lips. Toga came back, picking up the kitten and taking the blanket off. Shigaraki raised an eyebrow at Toga who was looking at the underside of it.
"What are you doing to it?" He asked, tempted to snatch the black blob from her. Toga just smiled brightly again, rewrapping it and setting it back on the pillow.
"It's not an 'it' silly! It's a girl!" She said happily, petting the kitten who just yawned. Tomura felt something tug at his heart again.
"Hana...," He muttered, looking at the sleepy baby. Toga just turned her head, "What?"
The other just cleared his throat. "Uh, Hana. That's gonna be her name. Use the kanji for flower."
Toga made a cooing noise, twirling where she stood. "That's so cute! I didn't know you could be so soft, Shiggy!"
Just then Dabi came back through the portal, arms full of cat things. He scowled at both Tomura and Toga.
"Here's your shit," Dabi so eloquently said, dumping the things of the counter, making Hana startle from her spot on the pillow. Dabi huffed, going back over to the couch, another cigarette up on his lips. Shigaraki turned to go through the things, he was glad Dabi seemed to actually care about what he was buying. It was everything he needed to give Hana a fighting chance at living. He opened the bag of cat food, using the now empty water bowl to scoop some out for her. That caught the kittens attention, as she wiggled out of the blanket and meowed at the food in Shigaraki's hand. He sat it down, watching her instantly begin eating it.
Toga was still looking at the cat with almost literal heart eyes, Dabi was even looking at her with a small smile that disappeared when Tomura looked at him just because he knew it annoyed him when he didn't smile. The blue haired young man just rolled his eyes. Kurogiri even had what Shigaraki assumed would be a smile if the man had a mouth.
A contented sigh left him as he carefully stroked his new kittens back. He was going to give Hana a good life.
