Epiphany

Summary:

Katsuki was born April 20 to Bakugo Masaru and Mitsuki; she was a tiny little thing, short and curled blonde hair, sparkling ruby red eyes, and a loud mouth. She cried and screamed as soon as she left the womb, her voice ringing clear and true throughout the hospital wing. She truly was her mother's daughter. Even when Mitsuki held her baby girl in her arms, Katsuki whimpered and whined, refusing to be quiet.

That set a precedent for the rest of Katsuki's life.

or, trans/gender fluid bakugo because it's what we deserve.

Notes:

there's a lot of self hatred and internalized transphobia, also toxic masculinity in the way of Bakugo Katsuki not being able to understand that he's perfectly normal. If you can't handle things like that then make good decisions. (Also sometimes he is very crude about periods so if that squicks you out or something then beware).

Work Text:

Katsuki was born April 20 to Bakugo Masaru and Mitsuki; she was a tiny little thing, short and curled blonde hair, sparkling ruby red eyes, and a loud mouth. She cried and screamed as soon as she left the womb, her voice ringing clear and true throughout the hospital wing. She truly was her mother's daughter. Even when Mitsuki held her baby girl in her arms, Katsuki whimpered and whined, refusing to be quiet.

That set a precedent for the rest of Katsuki's life.

Katsuki hated dresses. They made adults come up to her and pinch her cheeks before telling her that she was the cutest thing they'd ever seen. They made the boys in her classes pull at her clothes and trip her. They were itchy and tight, and her mom always got angry if she tore them, or came home dirty. She especially hated the frilly dresses that her mom always made for her birthday parties.

"I think you look pretty, Kacchan," Izuku chirped happily from where he was laying on her bed, head hanging off the sides. Katsuki huffed and tugged at the back of her dress, feeling hot and scratchy. "I like green."

"I know, Deku," She snapped, dropping her hands. She stomped her foot, hard, anger bubbling up inside her chest. "But I don't wanna wear this shitty dress!" From her mirror, Katsuki could see Deku's wide green eyes get even wider.

"Kacchan. " He sat up and shot a wary look over to Katsuki's open door before frowning at her. "You know we're not supposed to say words like that!"

Katsuki rolled her eyes and moved away from her mirror, stomping over to her bed and collapsing on it with a pissed off scream. "You're not the one who has to wear this, Deku," She complained. "You can wear whatever you want! And I have to put on stupid dresses with stupid frills and bows, and dumbass rainbow colours-"

"Why don't you tell Aunty Mitsuki that you don't like dresses?"

Katsuki rolled her eyes. Deku really was useless. "I have. She says I'm just being a brat." At that, she shot Deku a glare, daring him to agree with her mom. When the smaller boy flinched back with a sheepish smile, she scoffed and turned away again. "I don't need to wear dresses. I'm gonna get a super quirk and I'm gonna be strong - I can't be strong in these dresses! They're stupid! And girly."

Deku cocked his head to the side, blinking up at Katsuki slowly. "Your mom's a girl," He pointed out.

Katsuki looked at him. Was Deku that stupid? "She's not All Might though! Have you ever heard of a girl being the number one hero? No, because they're busy wearing stupid dresses." She scowled and reached for the ends of the bright green dress she was wearing, tugging at it to see if it ripped. It didn't.

"I think-"

"I don't care, Deku!" She screamed, shoving him roughly off her bed, grinning as he landed on the ground with a loud screech. He looked up at her with tears in his eyes, lips quivering as he held back water works. "God, you're always crying Deku, maybe you're the girl."

Her mom came into the room then, scowling, before screaming at her for shoving Izuku and making him cry. She didn't care, she could do whatever she wanted.

All the friends Katsuki had were boys. She didn't like girls, and girls didn't like her. She was too rough and too angry. The useless extras that followed her around liked her - or well, they liked her quirk. Katsuki loved her quirk, it was powerful and explosive. No one could say she was weak, and no one did. Everyone knew she would be a powerful hero.

Popping off a few explosions, Katsuki smirked as her classmates watched with adoration in their eyes. Maybe even jealousy. She couldn't blame them, she would be jealous too if she were them. She was the best, no one else in her class had a quirk even close to hers.

"Why'd a stupid girl like you get a quirk like that?!"

She scowled suddenly. The person who shouted that was Mayuri. He didn't like Katsuki, and he used to pick on her all the time before she finally almost bit his face off. When she'd gotten her quirk at first, she'd seen him watching her. Of course he was jealous. He didn't even have a quirk yet. "Say that to my face, shithead!" She pushed away from her desk and stood, staring him down.

Mayuri shoved some of the kids away, fists curling into a ball. "You can't be a hero. Not unless you're gonna fight in your stupid pretty dresses!" That made some of the boys laugh. Katsuki saw red and pounced.

She stared out of the car window blankly, barely registering her mom's screams. Her dad was driving, a tight frown on his face. Izuku was curled up on the other end of the backseat watching her from lowered eyes. He probably didn't think she could tell he was looking at her. Her hands twitched, sweaty and hot. She could still see Mayuri's burnt face in the back of her mind. She could still smell his skin burning.

When she'd tackled him to the ground, her quirk had gone off, almost on instinct and she'd blasted him directly in his face. The explosion wasn't the biggest, the nurse had told Mayuri's parents. But Katsuki had still injured him.

That didn't make her feel good. It didn't make her feel bad. She couldn't pull her feelings together well enough to really know what was happening. Everything felt like a dark cloud settled around her, weighing heavily on her shoulder. Mayuri had been proven wrong though, she was strong… she was powerful… She could defend herself.

He had doubted her, but she'd made sure he couldn't do that again. She didn't care that her parents were angry. She didn't care that stupid, shitty Deku was scared and had been begging her not to blast Mayuri again. She didn't care that her teacher and principal had demanded that she be controlled. No one could say she was weak.

That was the only thing that mattered to her.

Izuku didn't have a quirk. Katsuki didn't really care, she always knew he was useless, but he always followed her around, he was always asking about her quirk, so she didn't mind having him around. Of all the friends she had though - she couldn't say that she was surprised that he had dared to try and help her.

She fell. That was it. Katsuki could handle things herself. She had a quirk. Shitty Deku didn't. So why did he help her? Why did he think she wanted his help? He couldn't help anyone. Did he think she was weak? Like him? Was he looking down on her?

Scowling, she slapped his hand away. "Fuck off, Deku!"

He gasped and frowned. "Kacchan! You can't say that wo-"

She growled and stood on her own, shoving him backwards into the water. "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE, HUH? YOU QUIRKLESS LOSER, YOU THINK I NEED HELP! I WAS FINE YOU SHITTY DEKU! YOU'RE WEAK! I AM NOT WEAK!" In a burst of white, hot rage, she kicked him in the gut, something inside her winced at his cry of pain, but she waded out of the water and matched deeper into the forest.

She didn't need Deku's help. She didn't need anyone to help her. She was the strongest in her class, she was the smartest. She would be a pro hero - unlike Deku. He couldn't even be a low tier hero. He couldn't do anything.

When she was eleven years old, Katsuki looked in the mirror and hated everything she saw. She hadn't hit puberty yet, but everyone told her she would look just like her mother. She didn't want to look like her mother. Her body was soft and delicate, and her hair was long and wild, always pulled back by a bow.

She begged her parents to enroll her into a martial arts class. It would build muscle, it would make her stronger and faster. She would be better.

When she was twelve, Katsuki told her father that she wanted to wear the boy's uniform. She wanted to cut her hair, shorter than even her mother's. She told him that she didn't like being a girl. She didn't know what any of it meant, it scared her. It took a lot to scare Katsuki.

When he was thirteen, Katsuki began using male pronouns - but only in his head. Everyone around him saw him as a girl, called him 'her or she', dismissed his short hair and male clothing because why would cute little Katsuki be anything but a girl? Or at least, that's what he thought they were thinking. His parents seemed to catch on, even without him telling them. Whenever the situation called for it, they referred to him as male. It didn't completely take the weight off his shoulder but it made things easier.

He was having a horrible day. He'd woken up sore from training, and his abdomen felt like someone was pressing directly against it with a jagged blade. His sheets were painted blood red. The sick feeling he always got when looking in the mirror seemed to increase tenfold as he slowly realized what was happening to him.

A period. The monthly reminder that no matter how hard he tried not to be, he was still very much female. The body he had was sickeningly female.

Mitsuki had found him curled up in his bloodied sheets, fighting back bitter and angry tears. She sat on his bed and stroked a hand through his hair, not saying anything. They stayed like that for a while until she got up and left, before returning with a bar of chocolate and a pack of sanitary napkins.

He still had to go to school. He had a perfect attendance, he had grades to keep up. He couldn't be a Pro Hero if he slacked off. There was no way he'd let something as insignificant as a period hold him back. He was strong.

School was hell. He got there a few minutes after the first class had started. The extras that flocked to him every day were particularly annoying, and his teachers kept calling him 'Miss' whenever they spoke to him or even acknowledged him. It got worse at lunch.

He had been sitting in the middle of a table filled with obnoxious assholes who were loud and incredibly dumb. The longer they prattled on and on about things Katsuki didn't give a single fuck about, the more pissed off he got. His head hurt, his stomach hurt, his back hurt, his fucking vagina was leaking blood and he couldn't help but worry that at some point he'd find blood all over his pants. He was too hot, too cold, too irritated; he wanted someone to rub his back and feed him chocolate. He needed something warm pressed to his abdomen and his lower back. He wanted -

"Can you fucking assholes please, for FUCK'S sake, shut your shit spewing mouth holes for a motherfucking second?!" It took a lot more seconds than he'd like to admit for Katsuki to realize that he'd spoken. Or well, screamed. The entire cafeteria had gone silent. Everyone was swivelling in his direction. The extras at his table were gaping at him, apparently shocked. It wasn't like Katsuki was a nice person - it wasn't like Katsuki never screamed at people. He was notoriously unpleasant and people knew that. So why the fuck were they acting like -

"Are you crying?" The kid sitting across from him - Kenpachi - asked, bewildered. Katsuki felt his mouth fall open. His hands reached up to wipe his face, frantically. His cheeks were wet, he could taste salt just at the side of his mouth. He really had been crying.

He scowled. "Fuck off, you cock sucking cumrag." That might have come out a lot more hurt than angry. Katsuki felt his hands twitching, the urge to blow something or someone up becoming just on the side of too intense to hold back.

Some asshole next to Kenpachi smirked and leered at him, the look disgusting, and Katsuki wanted to spit right into that shitstain's shit brown eyes. Then he struck Katsuki where it hurt, "What is it, Katsuki? You on your period or something?"

Bile rose in his throat as everyone at the table laughed. His eyes burned hot with tears. He blinked and looked down, slamming his hands on the table and standing. "Go fuck yourself," He spat, but the effect was ruined by his voice cracking. He knew everyone could see him crying. He knew everyone in this fucking school would be spreading it around - big bad Bakugo Katsuki cried in the cafeteria, invincible Katsuki got her feelings hurt, fucking Katsuki was such a girl.

He needed to get the fuck out of there. Wiping his eyes furiously, Katsuki jumped over the bench he sat on and raced out of the cafeteria. He didn't notice until he had found the nearest bathroom and locked himself inside that he had left his bag at the table. He couldn't find it in himself to care. He wanted to call his mother and tell her to pick him up. He should have known that he couldn't handle school today. He should have known - he was stupid. He was weak, too weak to handle some insignificant nobodies misgendering him, too weak to suck it up and move forward. He wasn't a boy. He wouldn't ever be one. He was fooling himself and he knew it, deep down. Who the hell did he even think he was, pretending to be something he wasn't?

Tears poured down his face, he didn't bother brushing them away. He stifled the sobs that were threatening to leave his throat. His stomach churned - both from the pain and from the sheer panic that coursed through his veins. The bathroom stall door seemed to go in and out of focus. Tears obscured his vision. His nails dug into his forearms, sharp enough to pull blood. He cried out but dug them deeper. His head throbbed, his entire body felt like it was on fire. His shoulders rose and fell, his breathing erratic. This was his fault. He was too fucked up. If he wasn't so sick and disgusting, he wouldn't feel like ripping his skin off. This was his fault. He was weak. He was weak -

The sound of the bathroom door opening cut through the poison filling his mind. He stopped breathing for a moment. He didn't remember what bathroom this was… male or female? - Did it matter? Was he even either one? Was he just some kind of monster? - Footsteps sounded against the shitty tiles of the bathroom floor. He listened with baited breath as someone walked further into the room. He hoped they hadn't heard him - he hoped they couldn't see him in the stall.

"... Kacchan?"

A sharp exhale of breath left Katsuki. It was quiet but from the way Deku squeaked, he knew the other boy had heard it.

"Kacchan…. Katsuki." Something in the back of his mind grimaced at Deku calling him by his first name. He shoved it down. He closed his eyes, pulling his feet closer to him. He didn't want to talk to anyone, he didn't want anyone to see him so weak and vulnerable - especially not freaking Deku. "Katsuki… is it you in here? I thought I saw you run this way… but I wasn't sure if you were in here or in the girl's bathroom." That answered the question of which bathroom he was in. Not that it mattered. "Katsuki, I saw what happened… and I know you hate me but...I just… I just…"

He was worried. About Katsuki. He gritted his teeth. Deku was fucking stupid. He wasn't Katsuki's friend, he wasn't anything to anyone. He was weak and a coward, a stupid fucking Deku….

… So why the hell did he always want to help Katsuki?

"I don't need you, Deku," He snapped, reopening his eyes. His voice was rough, he sounded congested. Anyone with a lick of sense would know that Katsuki had been crying. "Just fuck off. Go jerk off to Pro Heroes or whatever the hell it is you do."

Deku didn't leave. Katsuki could see his feet now… those dumb red sneakers. He was directly in front of the stall Katsuki was in. Katsuki heard him lean against the door. Anger bubbled in him alongside confusion. What did it take to get this quirkless loser to leave him alone? It didn't seem to matter how hard Katsuki stepped on him, pushed him away, knocked him around - he never seemed to go away. They weren't friends anymore. They hadn't been that in years.

"Katsuki."

Katsuki felt more tears welling up in his eyes. He growled. "Stop fucking calling me that."

"Oh." Deku's voice was soft, sympathetic. Pitying. It made Katsuki want to open the door and kick him in the face. Something heavy hit the ground. He looked down and saw his bag at Deku's feet. He didn't like that his bag was on the filthy ground but… he took a deep breath and blinked away tears. Deku brought him his bag. "I called Aunty Mitsuki. I wasn't too sure if her number would be different but thankfully it isn't. I...it must sound stupid to you that I have your mom's number… we aren't even -" Deku laughed, a pathetic sound. "- we're not even friends but I still worry. I know you hate that." There was a pause where it seemed Deku was waiting for Katsuki to maybe agree with him. Katsuki couldn't find any words to say.

Deku inhaled deeply. "Well, anyway. I called her and told her that you were having a really bad day. I...I heard what they said to you and I know… I know you don't like when people call you a girl or anything like that -"

What.

Katsuki inhaled sharply. "The fuck do you mean by that?" There was no way Deku knew. Nobody knew. It was just his parents and himself. He had never even said it out loud. How did Deku know? Was it obvious? Did everyone know?

"Kat- Kacchan, it's fine. I only know because...I've known you since we were babies. You've never wanted to be a girl. When you started wearing the boys' uniform and you cut your hair, it just kind of clicked." Deku laughed nervously. "I think everyone just thinks you're being rebellious."

Katsuki huffed. "Whatever."

The conversation seemed to have died there. Katsuki didn't have anything to say to Deku, and the dumb nerd clearly didn't know what to say to Katsuki. Silence settled over them both; Katsuki sitting on a filthy fucking toilet and Deku leaning against the stall door, sitting on the gross ass tiles. Katsuki still felt like shit, his stomach growled every so often. He hadn't actually eaten anything since he felt too nauseous and he hadn't brought his lunch in here with him. The entire day was horrible and Katsuki couldn't wait to go home and take a bath, and maybe fucking drown himself.

Finally, Deku spoke again: "Aunty Mitsuki texted. She says she's heading into the school." He paused, his hesitance obvious. "Do you… want me to tell her where you are?"

Katsuki sighed. "Go to fucking class, Deku. I'll be fine on my own."

"O-oh… Okay Kacchan." He waited for a few seconds, for what Katsuki didn't know, until he scurried away and out of the bathroom.

Katsuki breathed deeply. That was….not completely agonizing.

It didn't change anything between them. Katsuki still hated Deku and his stupid, useless ass, and Deku was still a quirkless nerd who was afraid of him.

Screams.

Pain.

He couldn't breathe.

A voice in his ear, the sick and invasive sensation of being filled. Being violated.

Deku's big green eyes, filled with terror and tears.

"Kacchan-!"

Stupid. Fucking. Izuku.

Fury, shame, guilt, hatred, shame.

Shame. Shame. Shame.

Weak.

When he finally got home, he vomited until he started hacking up bile. His insides felt like they were being pulled out of him. His parents weren't home yet. He was alone.

He could still feel the villain. Everywhere.

He curled himself around his toilet and dug into his skin.

Everywhere.

It was all over the news. Headlines about the young lady who was attacked, saved by All Might himself.

Katsuki trained harder and harder. He would never find himself in that situation again.

He would never be that weak ever again. He was strong, he was the best, and he would prove it.

Deku had gotten bulkier, had put on more muscle. He was taller but still shorter than Katsuki. They didn't speak to each other. Deku's eyes followed him though. Just like always.

At some point, the male pronouns stopped fitting perfectly into who he felt he was. He was too terrified to say anything, so he didn't. His parents asked him, just a few days before he did the entrance exam to get into UA, if he wanted to start taking testosterone. He didn't. He told them he had to think about it, then he asked them to buy him a binder instead.

Deku got into UA. That didn't matter. It didn't. The loser wouldn't last a second with Katsuki there.

Just before the school year began, Mitsuki and Masaru took Katsuki to UA, requesting a meeting with Principal Nezu. He'd been forced to wear a suit with a blazer, and his mother had tried - and failed - to tame his wild hair. The RatBearHybrid Asshole of a principal didn't seem to care though so Katsuki was just immensely annoyed with everything.

"We have requests," Mitsuki said. Bakugo didn't want special treatment. He'd gone his entire life without it, at least in regards to his gender identity. He could live. But his mother had been adamant. She didn't want him living through high school feeling like tearing himself open. (There was talk of a therapist. That was shut down very quickly).

"I'm curious to hear what those are," The Rat Bastard answered. Katsuki narrowed his eyes at his soon-to-be principal. He looked amused but Bakugo honestly couldn't tell for sure.

"I know what's on Katsuki's file says otherwise but he is a male, and I'd really appreciate it if you addressed him as such," Mitsuki said. She worded it nicely but her tone of voice left no room for arguments. "He's been through a lot, and I'd like to lift some of the weight of his shoulders. He's a strong kid, but he's still a kid."

Katsuki bit back a growl. He didn't want his principal thinking he was some weak pussy who couldn't handle a little thing like a pronoun. "I said it was fine, you old hag," he grumbled under his breath.

He was ignored.

"I understand Mrs Bakugo," RatBearHybrid replied. He looked at Katsuki and smiled. Bakugo didn't return it. "Your son will be well taken care of here. I'll inform the teachers of what should be done. The correct uniform will be sent to you immediately."

His mother seemed satisfied. Bakugo didn't give a fuck though. (He did.)

Ugh.

Of course some shitty extra would be hackling Katsuki first thing in the fucking morning. He stared up at the four eyed hardass standing in front of him, demanding that he take his feet down from the desk. His face was familiar, not that he gave a shit. He was annoying and irrelevant.

"Oh yeah?" Katsuki jeered. "You gonna move my foot for me? Who the hell shoved a stick up your ass, huh? Seems like it's pretty fucking far up there."

Glasses reddened and started flailing about, ranting about some shit that Katsuki barely registered. He shifted, feeling his binder moving a little under his new uniform, and threatened the nerd, the instinct to tear into him coming naturally. The dude seemed scandalized and Katsuki was enjoying riling him up, when movement at the classroom door caught his eye.

Deku.

Katsuki scowled, and pride flickered in his chest as Deku seemed to take a step back when he saw Katsuki looking his way .

"It's him," Glasses said. Katsuki glared up at him, but he was heading over to Deku. Why did this annoying extra know Deku? Katsuki shook his head. That wasn't important. Deku and Glasses started talking, and Bakugo didn't care enough to pay attention anymore. He rolled his eyes and slumped in his chair, toying with his pen.

In his peripheral vision, he could see Deku smiling and blushing, a round faced girl behind him. Katsuki narrowed his eyes.

He was gonna ruin that little bastard. Right after he figured out how the damn Deku got into UA in the first place.

Bakugo stared at Deku. The smaller boy was staring back, eyes wide and desperate. He looked like he was about to cry. Katsuki didn't give a fuck.

Deku had lied. He was still lying. He didn't know why that pissed him off so much, but it made something dark and sinister grow in the pit of his stomach. He didn't even like Deku. It shouldn't matter that Deku had kept his quirk from him all these years.

Except it did.

"What was it?" Katsuki snapped harshly. Deku winced and took a step closer, a soft "Kacchan" leaving his lips. Bakugo moved back. "Come on, Deku, tell me. Did you think you were better than me? You pitied me didn't you?" He sneered and outstretched his arms, making a show of presenting himself. "Fragile, fucking Katsuki, poor little girl, so desperate to be strong - so desperate to be anything , and you just couldn't bear to break her fucking stupid weak, pathetic heart!" He was saying too much, he was feeling too much. But he couldn't seem to stop talking.

Deku looked devastated. "Kacchan, no-

Katsuki didn't want to hear it. Deku was a liar. "You knew what I was like...the way I felt about my quirk-" The fact that the only thing about him he even loved was his quirk "- you fucking, shitty bastard. It doesn't matter though. I know now, and I'm gonna make sure you know that I am...and have always been better than you. Go fuck yourself! " He turned from Deku - traitor, liar -  and walked away.

One day Katsuki woke up, and she knew. Her pronouns didn't fit. She stared at herself in the mirror, toothbrush and toothpaste in her mouth. Confusion. Betrayal. Both words that barely described what she felt. She thought it would be over. That at least she knew that she was a boy. And now... now…

She spat the toothpaste out and avoided looking at herself as she continued getting ready.

She went to school. He. Him.

Deku watched her. She acted like she wasn't watching him back. (A part of her wanted to go to him, to tell him that for once in her life, she wanted people to see her as a girl. A part of her was repulsed by the very idea.)

It was weird being in a binder when you don't feel like hiding your breasts. It was weird seeing the other girls in class and wanting them to know, "Hey, I'm actually one of you now, isn't life funny?"

She was afraid. She wanted to go back, turn back time. She wanted to be normal. That was it, wasn't it? Little by little, she had started to accept being trans. It had taken time, and fuck knew she wasn't fully there yet... But now… was she faking it? Was this the reason she never told anyone? Had she always known, deep down inside, that she was a liar?

It lasted for a week. The pronouns. The guilt. The shame.

But when Bakugo woke up feeling like a boy, he cried into his pillow and didn't know whether to be angry or relieved.

Shitty Hair liked him, and Katsuki didn't hate the red head. It was just like some other Sunshine-y, Happy Go Lucky dipshit to attach to him yet again.

It was just like some other Sunshine-y Happy Go Lucky dipshit to also end up knowing Katsuki's biggest secret.

They were in UA's locker room; everyone else had finished changing and were headed off to their other classes. Katsuki had pulled his shirt over his head and too late, he heard a gasp behind him. He froze, momentarily kicking himself for forgetting that Kirishima was still in the room. He ignored the boy, and continued to pull on this regular uniform shirt. Kirishima didn't say anything.

Katsuki was stuffing his water bottle into his backpack when Shitty Hair spoke: "I wasn't supposed to see that."

"No shit," Katsuki answered gruffly, zipping his bag roughly. He shot a look at the other boy, and saw that his face was carefully blank. Katsuki didn't think Kirishima would be a bigot, but one never knew with these things. Swallowing thickly, Bakugo fully turned to face him. He wasn't a coward, he would face this. "Say what you need to say, Shark Breath."

Kirishima coughed and rubbed the back of his neck. "Listen I… I'm sorry."

Katsuki rose a brow. "For?"

Kirishima reddened. "I really didn't know. I wouldn't… I wish I hadn't seen- I just… I took the choice away from you. Even if you were gonna tell me, it should have been your decision to when and how you told me."

Katsuki schooled his features and narrowed his eyes at the other. "Who fucking said I would have told you, ever?" Kirishima got even redder, he was starting to blend in with his hair. Apologies spilled from his mouth rapidly as he bowed over and over to Katsuki, remorse obvious. Katsuki decided to put the poor thing out of his misery. "Calm the fuck down, Shitty Hair. I didn't have it in mind for anyone at this shitty school to find out, but…" He paused. "You are okay with it, right?"

Kirishima nodded emphatically. "Dude, yes! Absolutely! It's completely natural bro!" Katsuki nodded absently. Completely natural, he says. If only he knew how not natural Katsuki felt on other days.

"Then shut the fuck up, it's fine that you know. All teachers do, so it's not that big a deal." That was a lie. The fact that Katsuki wasn't panicking at this very moment was because of his pride and nothing else. He sighed and headed to the exit, Kirishima bounding after him. "Just don't fucking say shit."

"Of course! I promise!"

And, well, if Kirishima didn't keep his mouth shut, Katsuki really would murder him - and anyone else who knew.

"Winning" against Todoroki felt like salt in an already gaping wound. She'd been using he/him pronouns all day, but just after her fight with Round Face, she felt the switch. It had never happened like that before, so she had been thrown off balance. She never liked switching to she/her. It made her feel ashamed and angry and confused and just - it wasn't something she enjoyed.

It wasn't like anyone knew either. Everyone called her by the pronouns she'd been using since she got to UA. Kirishima and Deku knew part of who she was, but not the whole truth. She never felt normal when she switched. How could she? She was afraid to even look into it, to confirm that she was a fake, that she was still lying to herself - and feeling like a girl again was her mind's way of letting her know that she might be fooling everyone but she couldn't fool herself.

Liar. Traitor. Faker.

Weakling.

Needless to say, she was pissed and emotional, and unstable enough already. Icy Hot holding back when she saw him give his all to Deku was stirring the proverbial pot. She wanted to win, but she would never want to win against an opponent that was fighting with one hand behind his back. She wanted to beat him, she wanted to prove that she was still strong - even like this. She wanted to beat him bloody and watch everyone in the goddamned arena lose their fucking minds as Bakugo Katsuki obliterated Endeavor's stupid, ridiculous tortured son.

She knew. She heard him talk about it. She'd even felt anger. What kind of fucked up place was the Hero World if the number two hero was fucking his own children up like that? It confused and pissed her off.

Todoroki confused and pissed her off.

He knew she was strong, he knew she was a worthy opponent -

Didn't he?! What was she doing wrong?! What did Deku have that she didn't?! Could he tell? Could they all tell that she was A FUCKING WEAK-

Katsuki stripped until she was only wearing her boxers. Her breasts hung loosely, small like...she didn't know, a fucking apple maybe? Ugh. She reached up and touched them. She glared into her mirror and let them go. Was this how she should have felt? Nothing? Looking in the mirror but being okay with what you saw? She wasn't used to it.

She breathed deeply and pulled down her boxers. Accepting that one has a vagina when one doesn't they should was an interesting and mentally taxing process that apparently didn't mean shit right now. She had a vagina...it was there and she wasn't repulsed.

She was repulsed by herself though. Yesterday she couldn't even shower without wanting to vomit. Now she stood in front of the image of a body she always despised, and she was okay with it. Not happy, because she was confused and she didn't like being confused. She waited for the dysphoria to kick in, for her to snap back to her senses. She was a boy.

She'd fought so hard to be seen as such. She'd felt so much pain and anger for most of her childhood. She hated being a girl…right?

Tears. Fuck, she was worse than Deku. She kept crying all the time. Too much of the time.

Maybe -

No. Her parents would send her to a mental hospital. She wouldn't blame them. She thought she was fucked in the head, so why shouldn't they?

But she was tired of hiding it. She was tired of feeling this way. It was weak, and it was irritating, and the last time she felt like this, she'd gone to her father and he had known exactly what to say to make her feel better. Maybe this time she would have to go to Mitsuki.

Mitsuki and Masaru looked wary when he had told them he needed to talk. They were eating dinner, Katsuki and his mother exchanging insults as they ate. The table had settled after a while, seemingly affected by how nervous he was feeling.

"Is there something wrong at school?" Masaru asked, worried and kind eyes peering at Katsuki. His dad was honestly too nice. Mitsuki stayed silent, which was weird, but she was watching him intense, red eyes so maybe that made up for it. "Did anyone…find out? Make fun of you? We can-"

"No," Katsuki cut him off. He dug his nails into his thighs through the gym shorts he was wearing. The large sweater he had put on was making him sweat even more so than usual. "No one's bullying me, and even if they were I can damn well take care of myself." He paused and took a sip of his water.  He lowered his eyes to his plate as he continued, "One of my... friends know now. It was an accident. That's not what this is about though."

"Take your time," Mitsuki told him, her voice shockingly soft. Bakugo knew his mother cared about him, obviously, but the way they showed affection was loud and not a little angry. He looked up and met her eyes. He wondered if she could see how scared he was. "Katsuki…"

"Sometimes I…"

They'd spoken at the same time. He looked away from her, and pinched his skin, forcing himself to breathe and focus. Whatever happened would happen, and he would deal with it, because he was not a coward. He was strong and he wouldn't ever be weak. "Sometimes," He started again. "Sometimes I feel like...like I'm a girl." He squeezed his eyes shut, not wanting to risk seeing their faces. "It's not that I don't feel like a boy, I do. Like right now, I don't have on my binder and I just feel so...gross, but sometimes that doesn't happen and I wanna use she/her pronouns but it's all so confusing and I just don't want to be a fucking liar-" His breathing hitched and he felt a tear make its way down his cheeks. "- I'm sorry that I'm so fucked up but I needed to tell someone how I felt. I'm so scared and I feel so...horrible-" His voice broke and Katsuki couldn't get anymore words out. He wrapped his arms around his center and curled into himself. He'd said it; it didn't make him feel better, it didn't make his problems magically go away. But he had said it.

"Katsuki."

He hiccuped and forced his eyes closed even tighter.

"Katsuki."

He whimpered and choked back a sob.

"Baby…" An arm wrapped around his shoulder and he was suddenly pulled into a warm embrace. His mother lavender perfume filled his nose and he stiffened. She held me closer still, leaning close to his ear as whispered, "There's nothing wrong with you, baby."

He was too busy trying not to break down to tell her not call him 'baby'. He burrowed deeper into her arms and breathed. "How...How do you know...Mom, how can you know?"

"Motherly intuition, you brat," She mumbled, squeezing him tightly. She pulled back and cupped his cheeks, wiping away his tears with her sleeves. Shockingly, she pressed a kiss to his nose and smiled. "We'll figure it out. Together, okay?"

He fought back more waterworks. "Whatever," he grumbled, ducking his head to rest on her shoulder.

Katsuki stared up at his bedroom ceiling.

It's your fault. You got yourself kidnapped.

He breathed in.

You weren't strong enough.

He breathed out.

You ended All Might.

He breathed in.

Maybe if you were stronger.

He breathed out.

Weakling. Villain. Useless.

Useless. Useless. Useless. Useless. Useless.

He breathed in.

Katsuki tightened her grip on Deku's hand, her knee pressed into the centre of his stomach while the other pinned his other hand. She breathed heavily, sweat and dirt, and just a little bit of blood covering her face. Her binder hugged her body tightly and she held back a wince. Fighting while wearing the binder so late into the night was a horrible idea. She didn't regret it however. She needed to do this, she needed to fight. Gritting her teeth, she leaned down and whispered in Deku's ear, "I win."

She still felt guilty. She still felt angry. She still felt...useless.

"Even with All Might's power…Even if you made that power your own…you still couldn't beat me.."

Stupid fucking Deku. Why had he even come for her? Why did any of her stupid classmates care that she'd been taken? What about now? Did they hate her? Did they fear her now? She was the reason All Might lost his power. She was the reason the entire world was left without its beacon of hope.

"Ka...cchan…"

She blinked, pulling herself from her thoughts, and growled. "Stay quiet, nerd."

"It wasn't your fault, Katsuki."

Shock filled her. She shook her head, tightening her fingers around Deku's wrist even more. "I said ," She bit out. "Stay fucking quiet."

He turned his head, thick curls wildly swaying. He could barely see her from the way her hand pushed back his head into the asphalt, but to his credit, he held her gaze. "Katsuki, I know you. I can see it. You're hurt…"

She ignored the skip of her heartbeat and glared down at him. "I'm fine."

He frowned. "You aren't. You said you were the one to end All Might but you have to know that isn't-"

" Shut up, you fucking-

"Both of you, stop this at once-"

Katsuki looked over her shoulder. All Might in his spindly, lanky form was walking towards them.

Deku was watching her. She didn't bother knocking him flat for it, but continued to sweep the dorm's common room. House arrest had just begun, and their classmates were being extra fucking dickheaded, leaving their shit anywhere just because her and Deku were being punished with basically Maid work for four and three days. Mr Aizawa had gone easy on them, that's for fucking sure. Sighing, she narrowed her eyes at a suspicious stain in the carpet. Should she even investigate ? The answer was no. Turning away, she found herself staring back at the nerd.

He yelped, the dust rag in his hands flying behind him as he tried and failed to act like he wasn't staring at her.

"What is it, fuck face?" She snapped. They might not be enemies, but they weren't friends.

Deku blushed, a rosy pink that made his freckles darken. She found her stomach twisting at the sight. He turned away quickly, picking up the rag he'd flung before flashing an innocent smile at her. "N-nothing Kacchan, I just... spaced out in your direction that's all!"

She scowled and tossed down her broom, folding her arms. "You're a shitty liar, Deku."

Deku deflated right before her eyes, huffing in defeat. "Sorry Kacchan." She cocked a brow at him, urging him to tell the truth or she would beat it out of him. He got the message quick enough, blurting out, "You aren't wearing your binder!"

Her expression cleared as she watched him fumble over himself, trying to take back the words he'd carelessly spat out. Deku didn't know. He didn't know that she was gender fluid (and thank fuck for the internet because it had saved her a lot of pain when she'd finally decided to get some answers). He had no idea that right now she was Katsuki, the girl he'd grown up with. He had no idea that Katsuki wasn't wearing a binder because she was wearing a sports bra under her tank top.

She smiled just a little, enough to startle Deku into shutting up. Then she said, quietly, "I'm gender-fluid, Discount Bruce Banner."

Deku blinked, his eyes stupid and big. He cocked his head to the side, processing her words. She didn't expect him though to say, "Discount Bruce Banner?"

She pulled her bitchiest expression. " That's what you're focusing on, Deku?"

He blushed again, realizing the important confession that he'd completely shoved to the side. He seemed to have bowed a thousand and one times in the blink of eye, apologizing profusely. "Sorry, Sorry, Sorry, Sorry-"

Sighing, she took up her broom and watched him as he continued to be a dramatic moron. Clearly Deku didn't care that she was gender-fluid. He was Deku , it's not like she expected him to condemn her. He'd known when she was using he/him pronouns, and now he knew there were times when she would be using other pronouns. He was an awkward kid, so she'd let him take in the information, maybe go on a studying binge or what the fuck ever made Deku go wild. "Don't tell anyone cock-for-brains."

Deku spluttered, apparently offended by the implication that he would break her trust. "I would never , Kacchan." He passed, mulled something over in that stupid brain of his, then opened his mouth to speak. No words left his mouth. He blinked and closed it, reddening.

"Spit it out, Deku."

His mouth twisted. Then he asked, "What are your pronouns?"

She smirked viciously. "How sweet of you to ask, nerd. It's she/her." Possessed by some sort of demon, she winked at him, which made the damn nerd practically combust in the common room.

"O-oh o-okay K-Kacchan-"

She rolled her eyes. "Whatever. Let's just get back to work, Deku."

It was the middle of a school week, and Katsuki awoke to the sound of his alarm. Immediately he knew that he'd fucked up. Between his legs was sticky, and the telltale ache in his abdomen and back was sign enough that Madame Red had come to town for a fucking visit. Rolling over onto his side, Katsuki stared at his clock. 6:35 am. Groaning, be pushed himself to sit, wincing at the gross feeling of blood in his underpants.

His sheets were a little stained, but not enough to be reminiscent of a crime scene. He pulled the sheets off and tossed them in his clothes bin. That was a problem for another day. He opened the top drawer of his bedside table, yawning until his eyes shut, while rummaging around for the emergency pads he restocked every other weekend. His hand closed around nothing. Frowning, he reached further in. Nothing.

"Fuck," He grumbled, eyes opening. He had forgotten to leave UA and buy what he needed. What the hell was he supposed to do now? It wasn't like he could suck it up and go without a pad or even a fucking tampon. He couldn't very well cross over to next door and ask Kirishima or any of the assholes on his floor for a sanitary napkin. Sometimes life was incredibly difficult. Taking a seat on his bed, Katsuki picked up his phone. He could call his mom, ask her to get some pads for her, but the bullshit that she'd have to go through to leave the house, drop his dad off at their workplace, head to a store, buy pads, drive to UA, somehow get them to Katsuki without the entire fucking dorm knowing, leave UA and head back to work? Suffice to say, Katsuki didn't think it was worth it. Also, he didn't want to deal with his mother nagging him on being more prepared. He was plenty prepared, thank you very much.

His eyes landed on the sheets in the far corner of the room. Except for today.

Rolling his eyes, he texted the two other people he knew would be able to help.

the nosy bitches + katsuki squad

Katsuki : which one of you cocks is awake right now?

ceo of being a little bitch: good morning kacchan (✿ ♡‿♡)

Katsuki: sigh. stfu deku.

Katsuki: i have an emergency of the female menstrual cycle variety.

ceo of being a little bitch: oh

ceo of being a little bitch: OH.

ceo of being a little bitch: oh my god kacchan im so sorry :(

Katsuki rolled his eyes. Leave it to Deku to be dramatic so early in the damn day.

Katsuki: uh huh whatever nerd. I need pads. Or a tampon.

ceo of being a little bitch: i uh don't really know why you're asking me kacchan.

Katsuki: because you have girl friends? who also bleed monthly? ask one of them?

ceo of being a little bitch: but how would i explain why i need it?

Right. Katsuki forgot about that. Fuck today.

Katsuki: well tell mr aizawa that i can't go to classes today, not unless he wants me to walk around with blood trailing after me.

ceo of being a little bitch: but kacchan !!! you hate missing class !!

Katsuki: i literally don't have a choice Deku.

ceo of being a little bitch: ok.

ceo of being a little bitch: i'll take care of it, don't worry.

Katsuki: thanks nerd.

He tossed his phone aside and rubbed his hands over his face. He needed a shower. He also needed pads. He should text his mom to pick some up and drop them off when she had time. He hated periods, but they weren't as bad as when he had just gotten the first one. He remembered that shitty ass day. Years of periods had resigned him to the fact that he was gonna bleed for years until he hit menopause or some shit. Periods were never fun, though, for either gender.

God, he was hungry. He kind of wanted hot chocolate.

Sitting up again, he walked over to his closet and opened his bag of toiletries. He pulled out his heat pad - good for muscles aches and also period cramps, go figure - and squashed it in his hand. It was a little cold, so he would have to refill it with warm water at some point.

His phone chimed on the bed, lighting up. He walked over to his bed, squeezing his heat pad to relax himself, and checked the message that had come in. It was from Deku, outside the group chat.

ceo of being a little bitch: tell me what you want/need

ceo of being a little bitch: let me help you.

ceo of being a little bitch: please.

Katsuki snorted. A few months ago, if he'd ever gotten a text from Deku, he would have told the nerd to fuck off and die. He didn't want help, but he did know that he could use outside assistance. Sighing he typed out a list:

Katsuki: hot chocolate. painkillers. pads, medium sized. warm water for my heat pad. new sheets. chocolate. more chocolate. also chocolate.

ceo of being a little bitch: i have a strange feeling you want chocolate. (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ

Katsuki: fuck off smartass.

Katsuki: exactly how do you plan on helping?

ceo of being a little bitch: my mom's not working today. im going to ask her for help.

Oh. He never stopped to think about asking Aunty Inko for help. Their parents never stopped being friends, but it wasn't like he'd seen Deku's mom regularly after they fell out. Aunty Inko obviously knew that he had been born a girl, but he didn't know if she knew that he had been using masculine pronouns for a long time. Probably. She was just as intuitive as her son so he wouldn't be surprised.

ceo of being a little bitch: THAT IS IF YOU WANT ME TO

ceo of being a little bitch: i mean,,, you might have already texted your parents sorry

Katsuki : it's fine Deku

Katsuki : my mom and dad are both working and i didn't really want to bother them anyway

Katsuki : you can ask your mom or whatever

Deku's response was instant: ok kacchan!!!! then he left a string of heart emojis that Katsuki pointedly ignored.

By the time school was over, Inko had brought him a family pack of sanitary napkins, had taken Katsuki's bloodied sheets to wash herself and left a warm comforter that Katsuki would kill someone for, and gifted him an entire bag of chocolates. Mr Aizawa had stopped by midday to check on him, looking oddly uncomfortable, and Katsuki could relate. It was kinda nice to know his teacher cared though. Bakugo had been laying on his bed, under his thick comforter, his heat pad on his stomach, while he nibbled on a piece of chocolate, slipping in and out of consciousness when someone knocked on his door.

Groaning, Katsuki pulled his comforter further around him. "Fuck off!" He called out. Whoever it was frankly wasn't worth leaving the warm cocoon he had made for himself.

"It's Kiri!" Katsuki grumbled even louder. "I brought you hot chocolate from the kitchen!" Katsuki threw the comforter back, sitting up and glaring at the closed door, even though there was no way Shitty Hair would see it.

"I was relaxing Shark Breath," He snapped.

"Sorry Bakubro!"

Growling under his breath - he really hated that dumbass nickname - Katsuki slowly rose from his bed, careful not to jostle himself too much lest he irritate the period gods and send himself down a dark and bloody path. He wobbled over to the door and opened it just a crack, peering out at Kirishima who was beaming with a cup of steaming hot chocolate. Katsuki's mouth watered.

"Give," He demanded, pushing out one hand. Kirishima gave him the mug and watched with amusement as Katsuki downed a quarter of its contents in one gulp.

"You scare me," Shitty Hair commented in awe. Bakugo smirked. Kirishima glanced up and down the hallway - the other students were either already in their rooms or downstairs - then he leaned closer. "Can I... come in?"

Katsuki frowned. "Why would you do that?"

Kirishima shrugged. "I don't know. You've been up here all day, by yourself, I just thought-"

Bakugo cut him off, "I'm not very pleasant in general, and I'm especially not pleasant when there's blood slowly dripping from my-"

"Oh my god," Kirishima mouthed, pressing his hands over his eyes as if that would erase the image of Katsuki's vagina that he clearly had in his mind. He wasn't comfortable with it himself, but it was kinda funny watching Kirishima try not to think about his nether regions.

"Don't be dramatic, Shitty-shima," Katsuki said, moving back and opening the door wide enough for the other boy to enter. "You brought me something hot and also chocolate, you're my second favorite person today." He turned and left Kirishima to close the door behind him, crawling back under his comforter and reaching for his heat pad. It was a little more warm than hot at this point, but Katsuki didn't want to go downstairs and heat up water. Maybe he'd send Shitty Hair. God, he hated sitting when he was bleeding hard, it put pressure on his lower half that he did not enjoy.

"Is first place, Midoriya?"

Katsuki looked questioningly at Kirishima, who was just standing in the middle of his room awkwardly. "The fuck are you talking about?" He narrowed his eyes, annoyed. "And sit down somewhere , fuck." Kirishima cautiously perched on his bed, right beside Bakugo's thighs, hands folded in his lap. This was the most subdued Katsuki had ever seen the red head be.

"You said, I'm your second favorite person," Kirishima spoke again. "Is Midoriya your first?"

Katsuki shook his head and downed more of the hot chocolate in his hand. It burned going down, warming his mid region. Heat truly was a godsend. "His mom helped me." Katsuki paused and stared at Kirishima for a moment. "You're third. He got her to take care of me, so you get bumped to third."

"Damn," Kirishima chuckled, a sweet smile on his lips. "So is it really as shitty as I think it is?"

Katsuki didn't have to ask what the red head was referring to. "It's shittier. Count your blessings, dipshit." Kirishima outright laughed. "How was class? Did you suffer without me there for you to cheat off of?"

Kirishima fell back onto Bakugo, carefully Katsuki noticed, with a frustrated groan, "Oh my god, Bakubro, you have no idea -"

Kirishima left after Katsuki told him he wanted to nap. It was late evening when he dozed off and by the time his eyes opened again, the moon was up. His clock blared a bright red 8:45 pm when he turned his head to the side. A knock sounded - again. The first one had woken him. It was almost nine, and even though he always went to bed earlier than everyone, it was a little weird for someone to drop by his room at this time.

"What?" He called out. He was groggy and his thighs felt weighted. Katsuki didn't really want to move. "What do you want?"

"Shit," A soft voice cursed. Katsuki didn't move but he knew who was at the door. "I'm sorry, Kacchan. You were sleeping, I shouldn't have-"

"Deku, what did you need?"

There was silence, and Katsuki almost marched up to the door and ripped it open to demand the green haired boy stop wasting his time. But then Deku started up again, whispering, low enough Katsuki almost couldn't hear him, "I missed you Kacchan."

His stomach warmed, and it wasn't from his heat bag, forgotten under the comforter. He ignored the butterflies; they'd been happening more and more. Sometimes it was Deku smiling at him a certain way, or something he said, or the way he called him ' Kacchan~'. He wasn't sure exactly when the dynamic between them had shifted. Everything seemed to be moving quicker than Katsuki ever imagined they would. They were friends now, without a doubt. But sometimes when Deku sat too close Katsuki would look at him from the corner of his eye and count the freckles dusted across this face. He recounted them each time. Sometimes when they were sparring and Deku pinned him, Katsuki could feel his heart racing from feelings that weren't adrenaline. Sometimes when Deku chose to sit with him at lunch, witnessing the headassery of the so-called Bakusquad, Katsuki found that he would press his thigh against Deku's.

Deku had always been emotionally available, and had always been attached to Katsuki since they were kids, so he knew that Deku wanting to be near him was just the little dork making up for lost time. Deku was sentimental that way.

"Kacchan?"

Katsuki sighed and pushed his comforter away. "Shut up, Deku," He mumbled as he opened the door. Izuku stared up at him, doe eyed and red cheeked. Katsuki shook his head, plastering on a taunting grin. "Missed me, huh nerd? It's only been a few hours since you saw me."

Deku blushed harder, lowering his eyes. It was cute how short the damn nerd. It wasn't by a lot, sure, but it was enough to make Katsuki want to put him in his pocket. "Yeah," Deku sighed. "I know I just…" he looked up at Bakugo again, eyes shining with something he couldn't identify. "Well anyway, I copied today's notes for you and you can staple the pages into your notebooks or something." He pulled a stack of papers from behind his back, smiling brightly. Katsuki hummed and took a step back.

"Come in, dumbass."

He didn't give Deku a chance to respond, leaving the door open and heading back to his cocoon. Izuku was closing the door and by the time he turned around, he seemed shocked to find Katsuki staring at him. Deku squeaked - an adorable noise that made his heart clench - and rubbed his hands together nervously. "So…" He breathed in deeply and avoided looking at Katsuki. "How was your day?"

"Bloody," Katsuki answered dryly. Surprisingly, the nerd snorted. He sighed and watched the other fidget awkwardly at the door. "I'm not doing this with you too, Brocolli's Ugly Cousin. Sit the fuck down or get the fuck out."

Deku yelped and moved further into the room, plopping down onto Katsuki's bed. He stared at Bakugo, bewildered. "Brocolli's Ugly Cousin?"

Bakugo shrugged. "It was either that or Shitty Rimjob. Only one of those is relevant to you."

Izuku mouthed 'shitty rimjob' to himself before grimacing. "Yeah I prefer being an ugly cousin to a green vegetable."

Katsuki smirked. "It really isn't my fault your hair looks like Broccoli, nerd."

Deku rolled his eyes.

Neither said anything for a while. Katsuki watched the moon light spilling into the room light up the side of Izuku's face. He looked almost...angelic. Katsuki ignored the ache in his chest, ignored the urge to reach for the little idiot and dig his fingers into his hair and refuse to let go. He cleared his throat and looked down at his lap. "Your mom bought me chocolate."

Deku shifted. "I know."

Katsuki chewed on his lower lip. "It was my favorite… Dark." He glanced through his fallen hair and lowered lashes. Izuku was staring out of the window, his hands curling around the sheets. "Did you tell her it was my favorite?"

Izuku nodded, eyes still trained on his window.

Katsuki sighed. "Thank yo-"

"I like you."

He blinked. Once. Twice. Then he looked up fully. Deku was still staring out the window. The green haired boy continued, "I don't think there was ever a time I didn't like you? I knew even back then what you were doing to me, to yourself was wrong...but there was still a part of me that cared so much and not in a friendly way." His eyebrows pulled together, like he was gathering his thoughts and figuring a way to order them coherently. Katsuki wasn't breathing anymore. "I was always so worried about you, because I knew why you were doing what you did, I knew you were just in pain, and you had some pretty... fucked up thoughts about what you were and weren't. And then… I thought you were going to die - with the sludge monster." Katsuki wished the other boy didn't need to clarify. Deku finally looked at him, reaching a hand out. It fell midway, inches from Katsuki's hand. He stared at it, and before he could overthink, he intertwined their fingers.

Izuku gasped but didn't comment on it. Katsuki looked up to see him staring back at him.

"I ran to you, not because I needed to be a hero. I knew I couldn't save you," Izuku whispered. Katsuki stroked the back of his hand with his thumb. "All Might gave me One for All because I moved without thinking, and yeah, I want to be a hero, and yes I move without thinking a lot, but it doesn't matter where we are or who I'm fighting, if you're in danger, I can't think about anyone. Ever."

"The training camp," Katsuki whispered. "They told me you were screaming. My name. Over and over." His lips quirked but he wasn't really amused. "Like you'd gone insane."

"You're all I think about. Ever," Izuku repeated.

Katsuki exhaled shakily. He tightened his hold on Deku's hand.

"Izuku…"

Deku's eyes widened and his features softened sickeningly. He whispered a sweet, " Katsuki," filled with longing.

Katsuki searched jade green eyes and knew. "Kiss me, you idiot."

Deku surged forward and Katsuki met him halfway. Their kiss was slow, steady - two uncertain people exploring something scary and new. Deku tasted sweet, like him, and Katsuki knew he probably tasted like bad breath and chocolate. They exchanged soft presses to each other's mouths, for an intoxicating length of time. Finally, Katsuki moved his lips away and pressed them to the corner of Izuku's mouth. "I think I'm in love with you," He whispered there; he could hear the nerves in his voice.

Deku sighed sweetly, shifting his head to press another kiss to Katsuki's lips. "I think I'm in love with you, too, Kacchan."

Katsuki hummed and closed what little distance there was between them again.

BONUS:

Katsuki nervously fiddled with the black studs in her ear. She chewed on her lips, eyeing her reflection. She didn't hate the way she looked, but she was still nervous. It was their second year back at UA, and she'd decided that she was going to let her classmates know the whole truth. There were some she wasn't too sure about, but she had Deku and Kirishima, plus the entire school faculty behind her.  There was also the option of murdering anyone who dared to be a bigot to her face.

Classes would begin tomorrow, and if the she/her pronouns still fit, she was planning on donning the girls' uniform. It would be better to rip the bandaid off today than give her class a heart attack when she showed up in a skirt and noticeable boobs.

She checked over her outfit one more time. The black dungarees fit tightly against every curve, in a way most of Katsuki's clothes usually didn't. The green sweater she wore under it was a cheesy homage to Deku that she couldn't resist doing. The dork didn't even know what she was planning. Katsuki smirked to herself and stared down at her bare feet. She debated on whether to wear shoes or not. On one hand, she rarely wore shoes in the dorms, and on the other hand, she was all dressed up so why not?

Rolling her eyes, she put on her black flip flops; simple and casual, it wasn't being barefoot but it wasn't extravagant either.

Katsuki dug her hands into her pockets - she loved deep pockets, why the fuck didn't more 'feminine' clothing have pockets? - and headed to the open door. Everyone was partying downstairs, celebrating their return and their Not Deadness. A pity that a bunch of teenagers actively celebrate not dying, but it was whatever. She entered the elevator and pressed the button for the ground floor, taking a deep breath.

These were people she knew. People she - begrudgingly - was  friends with. Kirishima and Izuku, she knew were on her side already, and frankly she was 85% sure Icy Hot found out that she had boobs one day when he had visited Deku and she hadn't been wearing a bra or a binder. She couldn't be sure if he actually saw the breasts under Deku's All Might sweater, but she wasn't really worried. Todoroki was...for lack of a better word, chill. No one in the 'Dekusquad' or 'Bakusquad' seemed like they'd condemn her for alternating between two genders. The only person who Bakugo was worried about was Mineta - and only in the sense that she might actually kill him if he manages to piss her off more than usual.

Everything will be okay.

Actually maybe if she got Toshinori to stand directly behind her -

The elevator doors opened with a ding that had several heads turning. She found Deku first, who was drinking a soda with his loser friends surrounding him. He was eyeing Katsuki with shock clear in his eyes. Maybe she just had you worry about Deku having a heart attack. Her eyes cut away from him, moving around the room to almost every person. They were all staring at her.

She was terrified, but she was also Bakugo Katsuki, so she shoved that shit down, exited the elevator and grinned wolfishly, baring her teeth as a warning to anyone who thought for a second she wouldn't pummel them into the ground. "What's up, extras?"

All hell broke loose. Murmurs rose from the entire group but it was Ashido who actually approached her. "Bakugo?" She didn't look repulsed, just curious.

Katsuki lifted a brow. "Who else?"

"Dude, what the fuck?" Someone blurted out. Katsuki looked over Ashido's shoulder to see Kaminari peering at her. She narrowed her eyes, putting as much venom as she could to the look.

"What the fuck are you gawking at, Retail-Store Bought Pikachu?" She snapped. She wasn't actually angry, but she needed to establish very quickly that she was and always had been Bakugo Katsuki.

Kaminari chuckled nervously and ran a hand through his hair, "Sorry, dude, but….you're wearing bright green."

Katsuki blinked. Then rolled her eyes. "Oh fuck you, Dunce Face, I look good."

Ashido smirked and bounded over to her, wrapping an arm around her waist. Her eyes zeroed in on Katsuki's chest, predictably. She frowned and cupped her own. Then glared up at Bakugo. "Why the fuck are your boobs so perfect?"

Bakugo snorted. "Genetics probably."

"Hey baby."

Katsuki looked up to see Deku moving in front of her. She rolled her eyes, declaring, "Fuck off," before pressing a kiss to Deku's dumb lips. She told him to never call her 'baby' but the damn nerd never listened to her these days.

"Am I the only one fucking confused?!" Mineta exclaimed.

Bakugo pulled away from her boyfriend and shot a fiery glare the purple midget's way. "You have a problem, you come say it to my face, fuckface."

Mineta scowled and pointed at her. " You have boobs! Why have I never seen them?! We use the same locker room!"

Katsuki growled and made a move towards the shitty bastard, but Deku laid a hand on her shoulder. She rolled her eyes and decided to answer civilly. "You've never seen my boobs because one, you were never obligated to see them and two, i didn't want you to fucking see them you sociopathic perverted cum-"

"Bakugo, that's enough."

She scowled at the new voice. Mr Aizawa seemed to just fucking appear out of thin air sometimes. Dick. She turned to glare at him. "Well tell that crap bag over there that people don't exist simply for his viewing pleasure."

"But he's so hot !"

"It's she ," Kirishima, Deku and Katsuki chorused. Everyone quieted down.

"So," Round Face said from where she was perched on the back of the couch. "What exactly...is this? I just don't want to offend you or anything."

"Yeah, Bakugo, we don't judge you, we just wanna know," Sero piped up. Katsuki rolled her eyes.

"If I didn't plan on answering some questions I would never have come down here like this." She sighed and leaned against Deku, Ashido snuggling closer to her as well. "I'm gender-fluid. I was born a girl, for a while I used he/him pronouns but then recently I realized that sometimes she/her pronouns work for me. I prefer he/him so even if you don't know what my pronouns for the day are, you're free to use that or I'll correct you." She shot another glare to everyone in the room. "Also I'm not an animal put on display so if you all treat me like a circus monkey here to do parlour tricks, I'll shove my foot down your throat and blast you into a fucking grave." And with that, she was done fucking talking. She turned to Ashido, "The fuck kind of party is this anyway?"

The entire 'Bakusquad' seemed to take that as permission to surround him because they swarmed him in an instant. Kirishima was unfazed by Katsuki's appearance obviously but Kaminari and Sero were toying with her chains like they wanted to rip it off. She allowed this only because she actually liked these assholes.

It wasn't so bad being herself, for them to see.
