Work Text:

This is new, this little limp-wristed thing that Jeongguk’s doing. Seokjin gets home from work on Friday evening and Jeongguk’s sitting on the floor by the coffee table, a pen in one hand and the other curled up against his chest. He drops his satchel on the table in the hall and Jeongguk doesn’t look up, but Seokjin knows he’s been acknowledged.

Jeongguk was non-verbal when Seokjin set out for work this morning, which means he probably still is. Sure enough, when Seokjin greets him with a soft ‘hey, baby’, he holds up his hand in the sign for ‘I love you’. Seokjin’s heart flutters.

“I love you too, little one.”

Jeongguk replies with ‘I love you more’. Seokjin giggles and sits on the floor at his side.

“Can I hug you?”

Jeongguk shakes his head. Seokjin grins.

“Did you have a good day?”

Jeongguk nods and puts his pen to paper again to write out another note. Seokjin hums and pulls his phone out of his pocket. Jeongguk’s still doing the limp wrist thing. Seokjin glances at it and something inside him melts, because how the fuck is his boyfriend so cute?

“Does that feel nice?” he asks, to which Jeongguk furrows his eyebrows, “The wrist thing, I mean.”

Jeongguk huffs out a tiny laugh. He puts his pen down. ‘I saw Tae doing it and he said it felt nice’, he scrunches his nose up in a little bunny smile, ‘it’s like reverse raptor hands’. Seokjin is weak for this boy, fuck. He grins.

“That’s nice, little one.”

Half an hour and an entire unit of science later, Jeongguk gives up on studying. He’s tired, a little overwhelmed, and has been fiddling with his cheek piercings for so long they’re starting to hurt. He needs a stim toy or something, a lump of putty or a stress ball or a tangle. He’s bitten the insides of his cheeks all bloody, too. Seokjin presses a chewy necklace charm into his palm.

“Use this instead, baby. Have you chewed your mouth up completely?”

Jeongguk nods, a little sheepish. Seokjin curses himself for not noticing it earlier. He gestures for Jeongguk to follow him into the bathroom where he applies a soothing balm to Jeongguk’s bitten cheeks. Jeongguk giggles at how cool it feels in his hot mouth. Seokjin holds his pinky up, and Jeongguk returns the gesture so their fingers are touching. It’s their own version of a hug, for when Jeongguk’s not feeling up for too much physical contact.

“My beautiful boy. What do you want to do this evening?”

Jeongguk hums and chews on the charm. ‘Ramen for dinner? Then Youtube?’ Seokjin nods eagerly, putting the tube of balm back in the cupboard.

“Sounds like a plan. Can you put the ramen on while I change?”

Jeongguk nods and prances off into the kitchen, necklace lodged firmly between his teeth. His left hand is still held limp up by his chest. Seokjin watches him go with an overwhelming, aching fondness. At the beginning of their relationship it was a little hard, admittedly, to get used to the lack of words and lack of physical contact. But now? Seokjin wouldn’t trade any of it for the world. Seeing his boy happy far, far surpasses a forced hug.
With limbs tired from a long day at work and droopy eyelids, Seokjin changes into sweats and an oversized t-shirt with little dinosaurs on it. When he enters the kitchen a pot of ramen is boiling on the stove and Jeongguk is spinning happy circles on the tiles, one hand limp by his chest and the other flapping languidly up by his ear. He’s chewing and flapping and spinning and Seokjin doesn’t think he’s seen him quite this happy in a long time: with work and college classes to get through, they haven’t had as much time to themselves as they would have wanted.

“Happy, baby?” Seokjin says, lips spreading into the most beautiful grin Jeongguk’s ever seen. He spins over and leans up to plant a kiss on Seokjin’s cheek, both hands still for a second on Seokjin’s shoulders. Then he’s back at it again, spinning right up on his tiptoes like he’s flying, first one way and then the other so as not to get dizzy. Seokjin’s heart feels all warm and fuzzy as he steps over to turn the stove off.

“Where do you wanna eat this?” he asks, draining the ramen over the basin. Jeongguk hums.

‘The sofa’, he signs, already wandering over there. He knows Seokjin can’t say no to him. And sure enough, Seokjin appears in the living room with two bowls of steaming hot ramen.

“You’re gonna have to stop flapping if you wanna eat this,” he chuckles, putting both bowls on the coffee table. Jeongguk pouts and relaxes his hand, already reaching for a bowl. He’s so hungry, has been ever since he started studying. But he’d wanted to eat with Seokjin, so had postponed sating his hunger. So now he digs in, slurping the noodles from his chopsticks as fast as he possibly can. Seokjin laughs and pats him gently on the back when he chokes.

“Slow down, little one. There’s no rush.”

But Jeongguk is hungry, so he eats the rest with just as much fervour. Seokjin finishes his in a much more refined manner, and by that time Jeongguk’s already got up to fetch the laptop.

“What do you want to watch?”

Jeongguk shrugs and dumps the laptop on the couch. He fingerspells ‘lo-fi’ and gives a hopeful grin, a little lopsided but beautiful and Seokjin’s heart melts. Sometimes Jeongguk doesn’t actually want to watch something, he wants to lay in Seokjin’s arms with soft music and be kissed silly. Today happens to be one of those days. He switches the fairy lights on and the main lights off and fiddles with his lip rings as he snuggles up to Seokjin’s side.

“Don’t play with those, little one,” Seokjin chides gently, prying Jeongguk’s fingers away. He toyed with them too much once and they got inflamed, a very painful experience, and neither have any desire to revisit that. So Seokjin presses a squishy toy into the palm of Jeongguk's hand and delights in his little happy trill.

Jeongguk chooses his favourite lo-fi playlist and leaves the laptop on the coffee table, pulling a blanket over his and Seokjin’s bodies. Seokjin’s a little surprised he wants physical contact right now but doesn’t say anything, just cuddles his little boyfriend against his side and presses a kiss into his hair. Jeongguk sighs happily and closes his eyes. He’s pleasantly full from dinner and so happy right now, so warm and content and comfy. He leans into Seokjin and kisses him back, eyes still closed so it’s a little clumsy at first but they get the hang of it fast, lips moulding together and exchanging soft, sweet kisses.

Seokjin shuffles around so he’s leaning back on the armrest and Jeongguk’s laying on top of him, hands clasping at the small of Jeongguk’s back.

“So pretty, baby.” Seokjin isn’t really sure what he’s saying, so caught up in Jeongguk, Jeongguk, Jeongguk to think about the words leaving his lips. And he knows Jeongguk likes it when Seokjin fills the silence when he’s non-verbal, so he keeps murmuring sweet nothings between kisses just to watch Jeongguk’s euphoric smile. “Love you so much.”

Jeongguk dissolves into giggles and gives a teasing nip to Seokjin’s collarbone. Seokjin laughs and squirms and pinches Jeongguk in the side, and then it’s a tickle fest until Jeongguk collapses on Seokjin’s chest with a sigh. He redresses himself to sign ‘I love you too’ and then flops back down again. Seokjin reaches for his hands, a little bigger than his own, and holds them tight. Jeongguk breathes another happy sigh and closes his eyes. He could easily fall asleep like this, lying all snug on Seokjin’s chest under his favourite fuzzy blanket. He rolls his lip piercings around with his tongue and squeezes Seokjin’s hand as tight as he can. Seokjin huffs out a laugh and kisses him on the head.

Jeongguk gets a little spark of… something, in the back of his mind. He gently takes one hand from Seokjin’s and brings it up to curl back against his chest. Seokjin makes a quiet noise of adoration.

“That really feels nice, huh?”

Jeongguk nods, snuggling down further. He wants to ask Seokjin if they can sleep, but he’s so comfy and his hands are taken and he absolutely can’t speak right now. So he groans and huffs and smushes his face against Seokjin’s chest in hope to get the message across.

“Oh, baby, you wanna sleep?”

Another nod. Seokjin laughs and gently props them up.

“Can I carry you through?”

Jeongguk makes a happy noise of assent and holds his arms out for Seokjin to pick him up. It’s with a wide, elated smile on his face and an armful of soft sleepy boyfriend that Seokjin falls asleep that night, and he wouldn’t have it any different.
