Summary
“You brought it?” Han Ying asks, and there’s eagerness in his voice, in the way he leans forward, towards Shen Shen and the black case he’s pulling from his bag. Shen Shen’s not sure anyone’s ever indicated excitement at the presence of his oboe before.
He pulls over a chair from against the wall and opens the case on his lap. Han Ying is still watching him intently, so he talks him through the pieces of the instrument while he puts it together. His explanation of the double reed makes Han Ying say “Wild,” which makes Shen Shen smile.
But then he realizes he has to figure out what to play. He has the entire corpus of classical music available to him, but he didn’t think to bring any sheet music, and he can only half-remember most of the pieces he once knew. It’s overwhelming until he focuses on Han Ying standing in front of him, all happy ease at the barre. Then, he knows just what he wants to play.

Summary
After Hyeok comes out of a car accident with a nasty concussion, he needs somewhere to recuperate. Luckily, Juwon and Dongsik have a guest bedroom.
Which leaves Hyeok in Manyang, recovering slower than any of them want and at loose ends for the first time in his adult life.
Or: Hyeok finds friendship, and a new interest, and a grinning boy in a run-down garden.

Yan Xiaohan goes on a walk one day and doesn’t return until hours and hours later, long past when the sun has already set. He shows up at their door absolutely drenched, rain droplets on his eyelashes, tracing down the slopes of his nose and his jaw.
Cradled in his arms is an equally soaked, pathetic-looking kitten.
Fu Shen leans against the doorframe to take some pressure off his aching knees. “Really?” he asks.
But then the kitten blinks its eyes open, and all he sees is green, green, green. Twin green eyes, like two trumpet-vine jade pendants nestled in a box under their bed, where all their precious belongings are stored, and oh.
“I couldn’t leave it out there,” says Yan Xiaohan, and yeah, Fu Shen probably wouldn’t be able to either.
