Summary
Things are as close to normal as they’re ever going to get for the Hale pack, after everything they’ve all been through in the last couple of years, when Cora starts noticing something weird going on between her brother and Chris Argent at the beginning of senior year. As if that weren’t enough of a problem it isn’t long before the odd monster here and there turns into a coven of witches who roll into town, decide to kick the werewolves’ den, and very nearly ruin everything.

Alternating povs, but mostly Cora’s outsider pov of Chris and Derek’s friendship developing into a romance. Cora is suspicious and unwelcoming to Chris because she’s terrified of losing Derek to another Argent. Allison is also wary of Derek getting close to Chris, but is more willing to give it a chance. Derek has been hanging out with Chris, John, and Melissa on a weekly basis, where they compare notes about threats and complain about the kid’s shenanigans. Chris and Derek are initially oblivious to how close they’re getting, but John and Melissa notice and are enjoying the show. Over the months their relationship develops, there’s a lot of cute domestic moments of Derek and the three parents taking care of the kids and bonding during birthdays and holidays.
Once Chris and Derek realize their feelings and get together, there’s no conflict between them. The conflict comes from Cora’s lack of acceptance and some evil witches who try to move into BH. In the big fight with the witches, Derek is badly hurt, and seeing Chris’s reaction while he recovers finally convinced Cora’s paranoia that there’s no ulterior motive -
