Work Text:

Kaminari was frozen, his father glare was enough to make him cower but his words strangled the teen as well, "Denki we found the letter." Each syllable squeezed his throat. He didn't need to ask what letter, he knew already. One he wrote a few days ago, one they were not supposed to see for at least another few months. He internally screamed at himself for already writing the letter, he turned 18 in 5 months. Then he could leave the letter and move out. That's what he planned, but now his mother was looking at him pitifully while holding a box, an old shoebox that was filled with old sketches, jewelry, letters, random shit, and in his father's hand was the letter, the one that spilled his worst secret, the one part he could never bring himself to hate despite his parents and everything they stood for telling him he had to.

He was gay.

That's what the letter was, a coming-out letter, one that told how he knew and when he found out.

"We’re transferring you to Ridge." The words were a command that Denki couldn't fight, there was no way to fight it. So that's how he found himself where he was now, standing in the middle of a hallway that had several bible quotes painted down it, staring at a new schedule for the last four months of his senior year. Kaminari sighed as he made his way down the hallway he was directed to until finally reaching the door, he knocked and immediately an old lady opened it, she looked exhausted. She motioned for the blonde to enter and he obliged, shutting the door behind himself. "Attention!" The teacher’s single statement silenced the rather loud room, eyes landed on her, to Kaminaris relief no one had noticed him yet. "There's a new student, Kaminari Denki." The familiar sensation of being choked took over him, this time eyes and whispers were stealing his ability to breathe. He smiled at the group, scanning over them mindlessly until someone caught his eye, his heart sped up as he looked at the teen, eyes looking slightly as the other offered the blonde a few glances in between his conversation with the redhead beside him. No. Denki stop. Kaminari couldn't seem to pull away from the other boy. His nearing shoulder-length raven hair, soft curious eyes, and a bright smile that he had on, one that got wider with the redhead’s statements beside him. "Just find a place to sit for now." The teacher said, snapping the teen out of his thoughts. He looked around searching for an empty seat until his name was called from the too-familiar area, "Hey! Kaminari right? Come sit with us!" The boy that he was staring at earlier called him over and he hesitantly accepted the half demand. He smiled at the four who sat by him. "Hey! I'm Kirishima!" The bright red head announced, looking to the others for their introductions. "Mina!" A pink bubbly girl said. "Sero." The raven-haired boy smiled at him again, causing his heart to speed up. "Oh yeah and this is Bakugou."

"Shut the fuck up, shitty hair, don’t introduce me."

"Well, it's not like you were going to." The red boy pouted causing the ash blonde to make a 'tch' sound and rolled his eyes.

----------------Month later------------

Sero tapped his foot while leaning against the front door. "Tao! If you don't hurry up-"

"Shush Hanta I'm right here."

"Finally." He sighed ready to leave without interaction with his parents, however, tall teen’s wishes were not being granted so far. "Hanta, remember what the bible says." He rolled his eyes mumbling a few 'yeahs' before shoving his brother out the door. They got in quickly and started towards Kaminari’s house to pick him up, "So when are you gonna finally ask this best friend of yours out?" Tao asked, leaving up from the back seat. "I'm not, he doesn't like me."

"Yeah, he does."

"No, and even if he did, I'd have to wait until we both moved out on our own." Tao huffed at his older brother’s response and leaned back into his seat. They momentarily stopped in front of Kaminari’s house and the boy popped in, "hey Sero!" He smiled, turning to the younger in the back. "Hey, tiny Sero!" Hanta gave a worried glance to the blonde as he had come to know his smile well the past month and with that, he knows when one is fake, and that smile was most definitely fake. To Kaminaris relief though, Sero seemed to put the conversation about the fake smile off for later, continuing on to school with stupid little discussions.

Once Sero split off to go to his own class Kaminari put in his earbuds and sat through his first two periods before finally it was his third period and he could sneak out. After role, Kaminari slipped out the door and went to his locker to grab his gym shorts. "Kaminari, why aren't you in class?" Mr. Aziawa asked from the classroom near his locker. "I need my chemistry paper from here." He lied straight through his perfect fucking smile and had no remorse, he didn’t has the patience. Luckily the man believed him or at least didn't care enough to fight him on it. Kaminari made his way to the empty court. Quicky in the locker room he changed into his shorts, took off his shirt and connected his wireless headphones to the phone. Hitting play the deep beat filled his ears and he jogged over to the court, basketball bouncing at his will.

I know we have been thinking about the same thing, same thing

Kaminari shook his head, trying to focus on shooting the ball instead of his best friend. He snickered to himself, realizing he was trying to get the basketball captain out of his head by playing basketball.

So dive in, deep till we drown. Breath out-breath in.

He sunk the ball through the net and gave himself a silent cheer as he ran to grab the ball.

Head underwater, keep holding me down. Playin with fire, please don't pull me out

The sound of the heavy beat and lyrics clouded his mind, thoughts of Sero as he desperately watched the ball he was dribbling. Kaminari didn't notice how Sero had also skipped class and was now watching him from the bleachers.

We've waited too long, want you right now. Anything you want, anything you want.

Kaminari shot from half-court and sunk the ball right as the beat started to drop.

Sign your name across my body, lose your Innocence. I can feel it leave your body, 3 in the morning.

Kaminari shook his head, the thoughts of Sero overtaking his mind, he stopped moving, just standing there bouncing the ball absentmindedly.

If you wanna blame it on me. Heat of the moment, we could fuck up my apartment. We're just getting started.

A hand landed on Kaminaris shoulder causing him to jump, a blush took over his face when he turned and saw Sero. He quickly threw the headphones off. "Sup, Kami."

"Sup, Sero."

"Mind If I join?"

"Not at all." Kaminari smiled, ignoring the burning on his face as Sero removed his shirt and swiftly removed the ball from the blonde’s hand.

-----------------------------------

Kaminari was trying his best to ignore the yelling of his parents, it was about him, he had no doubt but that was all the more reason to ignore it. He heard a small sniffle from his left and turned his head, a small seven-year-old girl stood crying in his doorway.. Denki gave a sad smile to his little sister. “Hey, Ozaki, come here.” The girl crawled onto Denki and laid quietly on his chest, when he looked up again, his younger brother, Obi. He moved his head to the side to tell the boy to come to sit. “You're gonna be okay right? This isn't going to-”

“Nothing is going to happen to me, Obi, I'm gonna be just fine.”

“You're leaving when you turn 18 aren’t you?”

“Yeah, I'll make sure to come to see you through.”

“You better.” This made Denki laugh, it was a pained laugh but still a laugh. He enjoyed this for as long as he could, enjoyed the comfort of Ozaki and Obi, knowing the second he leaves on his 18th birthday he won't be welcomed back, especially not after what he plans to do that day, what he hopes he can do that day. Although part of him is still yelling, the part of him that his parents raised, the part of him that is screaming.

No.

Stop.

This is wrong.

This is disgusting.

Gross.

Sin.

Boys don’t like boys.

These feelings aren't real.

Kaminari rubbed his face, he was alone now and the part of him that was him, that was right, was screaming right back at himself.

“Shut up!”

The room stilled. “Hanta…” His mother's voice was hushed as she stared him down for the outburst. Sero’s father glared at him, His older brother Kudo looked at him with worry and curiosity as well as his younger sister Chino. Hanta couldn’t handle it, his father’s words against homosexuality, the words pushed against his chest and squeezed his heart, he begged it to stop. “Excuse me.” He muttered and rushed off to his room, slamming the door. His father burst up going to follow him until his oldest put a light hand to his chest. “Please dad, let me talk to him. He's probably just had a long day.” Kudo pleaded and luckily his father agreed, sitting down to finish his dinner as Kudo went to find Hanta. He hit his knuckles lightly on the door before entering. Hanta sat with his hair pushed back and tears streaming down his face. Kudo lightly closed the door and sat down beside his younger brother. “Hanta, what's wrong?” He bit the inside of his lip and looked away. “I-I think I'm In-”

“I think I’m in love with Kaminari.”

Kudo nodded, “It's okay Hanta.”

No.

It’s not.

Obviously, it's not, if dad-

“Hanta, stop fighting with yourself. It’s okay, even if dad and mom still think that way.” He paused. “Hanta, there is nothing wrong with loving who you love.”

“Thank you, Kudo.”

----------Three months Later----------

“I'm so ready to get out of here!” Kaminari yelled out while trying on his graduation uniform. “Me too!”

“Too bad you guys don't turn 18 till summer.” Bakugou sighed, actually feeling concerned for the two, aware of their situation. “I'll be fine,” Kaminari yelled out, a fake smile that the entire group knew was fake but just smiled back. The group talked for a bit more until it was just Sero and Kaminai, the two-headed to the locker room to change. Sero peeled his shirt off and the other couldn't look away.

Stop.

Although when Kaminari removed his, the same problem occurred, the two looked at each other, blushes took over their faces. Sero stepped forward. “Kami…” He said hushed.

“W-whats up, Sero?” He asked hesitantly as he too moved closer.

“I-I’m sorry in advance.” Kaminari looked at him a little confused until he felt lips push against his own, he froze for a moment before melting into the kiss, wrapping his arms around the taller neck. He felt Sero’s hands rest on his hips as he was lightly pushed against the wall. After a moment the two pulled back, panting lightly. “Sor-”

“Don’t you dare apologize.” Kaminari breathed out.

“Okay.”

“Sero-”

“Hanta, call me Hanta.”

“Only if you call me Denki.” The two smiled at each other for a moment, resting their foreheads against each other. “Hanta, I love you.”

“I love you too, Denki.”

The two boys continued like that for a while, never letting the others see them, only letting a few know of what was happening. Until finally, it was Hanta’s birthday, Denki already had an apartment for them and now it was time to come out officially and say they were together. They started with Denkis Parents. The two walked into the kitchen where his family sat, they were at a safe distance. “Guys this is, Hanta.” Denki introduced him, he only offered a small smile. Ozaki and Obi gave him a bright smile, that calmed him a bit. “Is that his first name?” Denkis father asked, the anger suffocated the room when Denki nodded and grabbed Hanta’s hand. “Out. Right now.” The blonde just nodded, he expected this, he heard his mother yelling as they left. The raven-haired man looked at him with concern. “It’s alright, I expected it.”

“Denki! Please wait!” He turned towards his mother’s voice, seeing his siblings following. “Denki, I- I know I was harsh before but I- I would really like to stay a part of your life.” She breathed out with a smile that spread to all of their faces. “It’s nice to meet, Hanta.” She shook his hand.

“Nice to meet you too Mrs. Kaminari.” Hanta’s cheeks began to burn from how long and wide he was smiling. “Oh, um well, Hanta these are my younger siblings.”

“I’m Obi!” He smiled brightly. “You’re gonna make Denki happy right?”

“I wouldn’t wish any other emotion on him,” Hanta reassured the teen. He jumped slightly when he welt small arms wrap around his stomach, he looked down at the small girl. “That’s Ozaki.” Denki laughed. The five talked for a while before the inevitable dread was taking over the two new adults. “We have to go talk to Hantas parents now.”

“Oh, well I wish you luck! Well, come see you soon!”

“Fuck.” Hanta sighed as he stood in front of his front door, Denki squeezed his hand before letting go. Hanta already packed his items with the help of his older brother. Kudo was excited to meet the boy his brother fell so in love with that it brought him to tears. The raven-haired man stepped into his house, Denki chasing his heels. Everyone was in the living room, Kudos doing to help make this a little easier. “Who is this Hanta?” His mother asked, there was slight venom in her tone but he knew she would be the least of his worries. “This is Denki, m- my boyfriend.” He immediately laced their hands, expecting yelling, screaming, he was waiting for the shove and shout to “Get out of my house.” but it never came. Silence.

Absolute silence.

He looked up from the ground when he felt the breeze pass him, his father and mother stormed off together, a dorm slammed in the distance. He let out a relieved sigh. “I assume that’s the silent treatment.” He laughed out.

“Yeah.” His brother gave him a pained smile and stood walking to Denki. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you Kaminari, I’m Kudo.”

“The older brother.” Denki smiled and shook his hand. “And that is Chino.” He smiled at the young teen who smiled back. “Hi!”

The three boys packed up Hantas stuff and said their goodbyes. Hanta and Denki let out a happy laugh.

They did it. No more yelling. No more wrongs. No more shushing. Just them.
