"I'm in love with her"
Bakugou spoke to Deku, his head subtly leaning on his arms. For one of the first times, Bakugou's cheeks were covered in tears, not because he was angry or mad or frustrated but because...he cared about someone so much that he couldn't handle it. The green-haired boy would laugh if the situation wasn't so...drastic.
"I'm in love with her, okay? If you're looking for the word that means caring for someone beyond all rationality and wanting them to have everything they want no matter how much it destroys you, its love!" Deku's eyes widened at the comment. He wasn't sure how he got here, Bakugou was the one who yanked him aside telling him they needed to talk about her.
About Uraraka.
Deku's eyes subtly went down, he didn't say a word as the blond kept on speaking. He was here to listen, to hear his part
"And when you love someone you just, you...you don't stop. Ever. Even when people roll their eyes or call you crazy. Even then. Especially then."
The wet droplets sunk through the blonde's eyes, pieces of his hair standing over his face. He bit over his lip, pausing before he opened his mouth again. His breath, loud and shallow.
"You just- you don't give up because if I could give up... If I could just, you know, take the whole world's advice and- and move on and find someone else, that wouldn't be love. That would be... That would be some other disposable thing that is not worth fighting for. But that is not what this is."
"And I do love her. I know I love Uraraka. I love her big mopey eyes, her chocolate hair, her smooth, creamy skin, the way her eyes sparkle, the way she's terrible at cooking, the way she trains, the way she doesn't give up. The way she smiles, I love her Deku."
Bakugou smiled just a bit as he remised the way the girl. The way she would be telling him to chin up if she knew, telling him to smile, to which he would scoff. Ochaco Uraraka.
He never thought she would mean so much, to be honest, he never thought he would have time for things like love anyways. But love does that...it messes everything you live for, everything you like, everything you do up. From the way you eat to the way you sleep. It breaks you from inside to out.
Deku understood that.
Bakugou didn't have a crush.
He was in dire need of this girl.
He needed her like humans needed water.
Need.
Katsuki Bakugou needed Ochaco Uraraka.
So badly.
It stayed silent for moments after, the two rivals sitting against Bakugou's dorm wall, the boy spilling out more tears as the feelings pushed into him.
"I'm so fucking scared. So scared she won't love me. I don't know what to do if she doesn't love me."
The green-haired boy opened his mouth, shutting it quickly, turning his mouth upward as he closed his eyes. "You've come such a long way Kacchan. From the boy who used to only care about himself to someone like this...a boy who loves my best friend so much it affects every edge of his life."
Bakugou listened, not staring at the teenager next to him.
"I know you love her. I can see it in your face, your eyes."
His words drowned into the quiet room.
"So tell her. Tell her you love her before someone else does."
"You don't have to be scared to have feelings."
Bakugou scowled.
"That's bullshit. Of course, I have to be afraid, these feelings-I can't-they'll be the end of me, so make it stop, make it fucking stop!"
He was yelling.
"I hate it. I hate how much I love her. I hate this, I just want to sleep and never wake up again, because what if I lose her. What if she won't be there for me to see, to talk to. What if?"
Deku strained his eyes, "You could be right."
"I'm always right."
Heaving through the thick air Bakugou and Deku swallowed up the words in them.
"You know I love her too right. You know I love the way she looks too. I love the way she smiles too. She's my best friend Kacchan."
Bakugou wisped his head around to the blurry, teary filled boy beside him.
"She was one of my first true friends after you...but that didn't work out as you would know."
Guilt rested in the blondes' stomach.
"She's an amazing person. I love her too, I love her, I love her, I love her!"
"She makes me happy."
"I love the way she cares for me, the way she talks to me and laughs the way she's so...Uraraka."
"And I know you said not to give up. But how are you supposed to keep going when there's someone who respects every little piece of her, who would kill themselves for that one person, how am I supposed to compete with that."
Bakugou's eyes shot up, sobbing out as his childhood victim kept talking.
"And Kacchan, you need to know something."
"You don't know what it feels like to be worthless."
"Every. Single. Day."
"To feel like your always above me."
"And I won't let myself ever feel like that again...this is the one time I'm letting you win...because it's painfully obvious she loves you too."
The shorter boy stood up.
"And remember. it's not for you, it's for her."
"So don't you dare break her."
And he walked out.
He wasn't sure where this was going to lead. He wasn't sure what was going to happen. He wasn't sure how he was ever going to look at Bakugou or Uraraka the same. He was sure he couldn't win this fight.
He couldn't be the one who was here for her.
Bakugou was breaking over the fact that another person being so important to him.
Deku was breaking over the fact that the girl he loved obviously loved his rival.
Bakugou may or not have noticed.
Deku smiled as the thought rushed in, his crooked face pulsing inside him.
But Uraraka's eyes sparkled when she spoke Bakugou too.
