You Are My Turning Page

Summary:

Johnny wanted to surprise Gyro, it didn't go as planned but did at the same time.

Notes:

Hi! This is a really personal fic because it's somewhat based off of things that happened to me and how I recovered from them! The details don't matter but it does have some influence on how I describe certain aspects of equipment and such.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Johnny Joestar had been raised to be strong and to present himself only to the highest of standards. He had been just that, living up to what he was supposed to, always first, always above the standard, in and out of school, he proved himself and everyone around him that he was indeed, just the best. He had prided himself on that, until it was ripped away from him, like the wings of an angel viciously ripped from their back, but instead of wings, it had been his legs, his mobility. He wasn't able to stand tall, let alone proud. A shooting, of course, he would be the victim, he had always wondered if his pride would truly be the death of him, and at that moment, as he hit the ground, he was sure it would be. He spent months in hospital, unvisited, he swore he was left to die. The staff wasn't much help either, he was known for his boisterous attitude and pride so they lacked respect for the patient who truly just felt like a young child, trapped by a body that was now half useless. He was able to hold back the tears when the staff came in to check up on him without a word but an abundance of judgemental glares. As soon as they left, he would weep until he finally fell asleep again. He felt pathetic every single day even after he was sent home in the wheelchair that felt like a curse, a tumor as if it was the reason he couldn't walk. He had enrolled in university, smart enough to get a scholarship into a journalism class, interested in the concept, but unsure if he actually wanted to pursue it. When realizing he would probably have a roommate, he groaned and decided to deal with it, just hoping they weren't a creep, rude, or a horndog.

He was getting familiar with the dorm when the roommate he had started to dread knocked on and peeked through the door, all Johnny knew was that he was a medical student. The man who walked through the door certainly didn't look like a medical student, with long blonde hair half pulled into a ponytail and gold grills. Johnny only caught a glimpse of them but it was enough to dread the dorm being filled with terrible Soundcloud rap and the smell of pot. The blonde gave the most irritating smile Johnny has ever seen in his life, but maybe that was him repressing the fact that the smile had turned his heart into a hacky sack. "Hey there roommate, I'm Gyro." the blonde spoke with a surprisingly thick Italian accent to the point where it was almost unrecognizable. "Afternoon," Johnny replied, his southern drawl lacking the enthusiasm the Italian seemed to have an abundance of. The Italian raised a brow at him, challenging his attitude, "I know you want to be seen as some grump so I leave you alone, but there's no chance of that." The Italian really had no filter, and it left Johnny's mouth slightly agape.
