Chapter Text
July, Todoroki's POV
I hate summer, it's too hot, uncomfortably hot.
Well at least that's how I used to feel. Currently I'm pretty glad it's summer, it means I can go visit Izuku whenever I want and get away from my parental unit who is male, so it's a win-win situation. Speaking of Izuku, I'm going to visit him today, at around 2:00 pm; in one hour.. Is it normal to feel sick to my stomach, right now? He just makes me so... I don't know how to put it into words, I guess what normal people call 'nervous'. I have no clue why I'm nervous. I don't even like him like that.
I think I'm nervous because I've never had a real friend before Izuku, I'm just scared to mess it up like I do everything else. That has to be the reason, right? Gosh, all this worrying is making me hungry, might as well go to the kitchen.
Third person POV
As Todoroki goes to get food from the kitchen he sees his father drinking tea. Todoroki acts as if his father isn't standing there, and this bothers Endeavor to no extent so he confronts his son.
"Shoto, is there any particular reason as to why you are ignoring me? Did I do something wrong?"
Todoroki pretends that he can’t hear him, so he gives a slight hum in response.
"Silent treatment, huh? Fine I guess I'll have to find it out myself then," Endeavor says.
Todoroki, who was very much done with his father's crap, decided to say something, "You know exactly what you're doing."
"No, frankly I don't Shoto, would you care to explain?" Endeavor echoed, obviously very annoyed.
"It's the same thing I'm always mad at you for, the fact that you breeded me to be who you want, driving mom insane to the point where she poured boiling hot water on my face!" retorted Todoroki with small flames and snowflakes escaping his body.
Endeavor sighed "Shoto, that happened a long time ago, just get over it and grow up. I don't even know why you are complaining, I mean look at how great your quirk is."
Todoroki was beyond pissed at the comment his father had just said, "I HATE THIS QUIRK! I HATE YOU! YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT YOURSELF!"
At this moment Endeavor activated his quirk and towered over his son "IS THAT ANYWAY TO REPAY YOUR FATHER?! I MADE YOUR LIFE SO MUCH BETTER THAN WHAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN, I SWEAR TO GOD! THE UNGRATEFULNESS OF THESE CHILDREN! IF YOU END UP LIKE D-" Endeavor cut himself off and relaxed.
Todoroki sat there bewildered and he thought what could he have meant by ending up like 'D-'? What/who did he mean?
Unfortunately, Todoroki couldn't get too far into his thoughts before he noticed the time, somehow it had been 30 minutes since he entered the kitchen, and he didn’t want to be late for seeing Izuku. He said the angriest 'Bye' he could muster before he left his house.
*TIME SKIP*
Izuku's house, Todoroki's POV
I… am so… out… of breath…
I'm standing outside of Izuku's house, and I just ran from the train station in order to make it on time. I guess I have to ring the doorbell now.
Not even a minute later a very flustered Izuku was standing at the door, he looked like a tomato, leaves and all. God,was he always this cute? Wait, what?
I got distracted from my thoughts when my friend stuttered out a "H-hey Todo" in his very adorable voice...Okay, seriously, am I okay?
Naturally I responded with a "Hello Midoriya", I wish it came out that way, I had a voice crack. Stupid puberty, but it made Izuku laugh that angelic laugh of his.
Izuku invited me in, and I walked into his house.
Third Person POV
As the two boys walked into the Midoriya household Inko popped her head around the corner and said a quick "Hello Todoroki!" for she seemed to be making food, so she didn't have the time to give proper greetings.
Inside the room of the green haired boy, the two sat in complete and utter silence. The guest decided to say something "So… How's summer break been treating you?"
Izuku looked up finally "Uhm, pretty well, how about you?"
"Same old stuff," Todoroki replied, with a tone as to say that he would rather talk about Izuku than himself.
Izuku, in need of topics to continue the conversation hastily looked for ideas and then settled on: "Are you and your dad getting along?"
Todoroki sighed, he wanted to maintain conversation with his friend, but he didn’t particularly like talking about any topic regarding his father."Uh, yeah I guess, we got into an argument today, but then again, aren’t we always arguing?" he laughs harshly while looking towards Midoriya, who donned a concerned, and slightly dismal expression.
"Oh… Sorry to hear that… Wanna talk about it? I-I mean... I-it's fine if you don't.." He stuttered, for Todoroki had given him a similar expression to what he himself had just given.
"I’d... rather not..." Todoroki replied, rather melancholy.
"Oh, o- okay. I understand, sorry" Izuku said, not making eye contact with the slender boy with the half discolored, yet glimmering hair, and the all too mesmerizing scarred face that sat adjacent to himself.
Todoroki laughed, or at least, he produced a sound comparable to laughter, though the word might not apply to this particular sound considering Todoroki’s emotional expressions, or lack thereof, "Why are you apologizing? It's fine, you're allowed to be anxious."
Izuku looked up at the boy and displayed a forced smile, "Y- yeah..." Todoroki looked down again and was about to say something when Izuku beat him to it, "T-todo..."
"Yes, Midoriya?" Todoroki tried to make eye contact with the boy, but his eyes seemed to be looking everywhere but the undeniably cute boy in front of him.
"I-I think I..." Midoriya attempts to express something seemingly important yet equally embarrassing to his friend but ends up trailing off.
"What’s that?" Todoroki questioned the anxious and quivering child before him. Despite the two being the same age, Midoriya appeared so much younger. It’s possible that his father’s cruel treatments had forced Todoroki to grow up quicker, or simply that Midoriya was more keen to explore and express his emotions.
"D-do” Midoriya clears his throat as he has trouble elaborating but eventually blurts out the words he was looking for:
”D- DO YOU WANNA GO OUT WITH ME?!"
