Is This How Easter Works??

Summary:

Everyone's invited to the Akutagawa household's Easter party!

Let's collect eggs, share happy times and be toge-

No.

Something's bound to go wrong, and Mori and Fukuzawa are just in the background, watching as their children begin to burn someone else's house down bit by bit.

But this time, it includes Easter eggs.

Notes:

PLEASE READ
*****I'm telling you this now:

This chapter contains Japanese characters celebrating a Western/basically Christian holiday. I know that Japan is neither a Western nor predominantly Christian place, so no need to tell me 😅
Also, both Dazai and Atsushi have their entire outfits made of girl's clothes.
The things I chose are just what I imagine the characters would wear in this AU.
Looking at their clothes isn't necessary, but if you want to the links are there.

Chapter 1: Can We Get to the Interesting Part Yet?

Chapter Text

It is Easter Sunday.

The FukuMori family (with a few additions) is out in the Akutagawa family yard, having bloody wars  fun as they try to collect as many eggs as possi-

"aRE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!"

"I SAID I WAS SORRY!"

"YOU'VE RUINED MY DRESS, YOU HORMONAL TEENAGED GREMLIN!"

"FOR THE LAST TIME, I SAID I WAS SORRY YOU DEPRESSED HAG!"

Oh yeah.

"So... How did we get here again?" Mori watched as his children were engaging in fights determining life and death, tearing the grass (and possibly each other) up.

Fukuzawa dodged an Easter decoration that came flying at him. "No idea." He said, catching an egg that flew his way and cracking it open. It had taffy in it, so he put one in his mouth.

"Gonna share?"

"No."

"We're getting a divorce."

🐇

Literally only two hours ago...

"An Easter egg hunt?" Doppo stared at the basket in Mori's hands, full of colorful plastic eggs. On the table, there was a basket full of chocolates and other candies.

Nodding, Mori swatted Akiko's hand away from the basket. "Mhm! Yuki and I decided that since we have nothing to do, we'll be giving you children an activity to keep you busy."

"But we're all over twe-"

"Silence."

Dazai's eyes were shining at the prospect of an egg hunt. They hadn't done one in a while, and since Easter wasn't really celebrated in Japan, there were a few stores who actually sold eggs and the like.

He'd seen Western depictions of how Easter should be celebrated, and it looked fun.

"Can we invite our friends over?" Dazai piped up, and everyone looked at him.

After looking at his egg basket and thinking for a bit, Mori brightened up. "Of course! The more the merrier!" His smile didn't fade as he added, "Make sure to call Chuuya-kun too! He and I have some... unfinished business."

The atmosphere darkened and Dazai nodded with a smile.

"Now everyone!" Clapping his hands, Mori sent his children off. "Get ready, the hunt starts at one!"

💐

Elsewhere...

Chuuya lept for his phone when he heard the notification beep.

It was a lazy Sunday, and he was lying around on the couches with Ozaki. His sister stared as Chuuya ran for his phone like he was competing in a marathon.

"What, did Dazai text you or something?" She droned, picking up her own phone when it vibrated. Reading the message that she was sent, Ozaki's bored expression turned into one of deviousness. "Oh, nii-chaaaaaan."

Chuuya felt sick as his sister loomed over him with bath products and several articles of clothing.

He knew exactly what was coming up.

"Ozaki, I can do that myse- Hey, what- AHHHHH!"

🐰

"Oh, we should put the streamers all over the walls in the great room! And the wallflowers go in the entryway!" Atsushi was babbling a mile a minute

Akutagawa was at the stove, frying eggs and currently praying to the gods that he'd be able to see Atsushi in cute clothes and pastel colors. "Sounds fun." He said calmly (quite the contrast to what he was thinking...). "They don't do that much around here, do they?"

"No." Atsushi gave him a look with those big, sparkly eyes of his. "We should have a carrot cake like they do in Western shows!"

"Of course."

💐

"STAY STILL, YOU CONFUSED BALL OF TESTOSTERONE!"

"I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO TRIM YOUR NAILS LAST TIME, YOU STUPID LESBIAN!"

"THIS IS WHY I KEEP MY NAILS LONG, YOU ESTRANGED VIRGIN!"

Ozaki was fighting Chuuya in the bath again, trying to wrestle him into letting her scrub his hair. Water got all over the floor again, and this time Ozaki was prepared. She'd laid towels and a bath mat down to try and minimize the damage to the floor.

Chuuya was struggling to get Ozaki's hands out of his hair, thrashing like a wild cat trying to escape. He got soapy water on most of the towels, and completely soaked the bathmat.

This is why Ozaki had gotten heavy duty goggles, an apron to protect her clothes and a hair bonnet on. She was thinking of getting a full body suit next time, like a forensic scientist.

"I already have your clothes ready- hey, stay still - so all you'll have to do is dry up and change."

Pouting, Chuuya gave up as he crossed his arms and stayed put like a child. "Hmph."

"Also..." Ozaki crept closer, and Chuuya blinked. "Don't you wanna get close to your little boyfriend?"

The water temperature rose high, and Chuuya's body was red all over as he sputtered and stammered. Nodding in satisfaction, Ozaki scrubbed her now docile brother to perfection.

🐇

"I like this a lot." Dazai was again sitting in the tub as Akiko shampooed his hair, this time with a tulip scent. "So relaxing..."

Akiko rolled her eyes and grabbed the conditioner, setting it on the bath's ledge. "Whatever. If you're gonna treat this like a spa, then you might as well pay."

Giggling, Dazai scooped up bubbles and placed them onto his head. He smiled wider when he heard Akiko say "brat."

"Chuuya said Ryuu's house is really big." Dazai said, tilting his head back as Akiko sprayed his head. "Wonder if they celebrate Easter each year."

Humming, Akiko grabbed the conditioner and squeezed a dollop into Dazai's curls. "Too bad Ranpo can't come, though. He'd kill for the chocolate."

Ranpo was at his house that day, taking care of Edgar because he was sick. For some reason, Mori got excited but it just made Dazai sad. "I'll bring some of my candy for him next time he's here." He said, nearly purring when Akiko massaged a certain spot.

"You should do this more often for me." He sighed, leaning into the touch.

"Shut up or I'll drown you."

💐

Chuuya came out of the bath looking like a wet ginger cat, and a very dry Ozaki followed behind quite contentedly.

"I'll get your clothes, just... Do something about the storm drain cat look." She said, and Chuuya made a face at his sister, then proceeded to pat himself dry.

Turns out, Easter was a pretty girly holiday.

He had a pastel pink dress shirt and a white suit ensemble.

It was pink.

"...No."

"Chuuya, you are wearing the outfit."

".....No."

Ozaki sighed, and thought for a bit. Suddenly, she smiled devilishly and pulled out her phone. "It'd be a shame if I'd used some blackmail to send to Dazai-kun."

Eyes widening, fear took over Chuuya's entire body.

"Y-You.. You wouldn't..."

"Oh, would I?" Ozaki flipped her phone around, flashing the dastardly screen in Chuuya's face. "Would I ever."

Chuuya let out a voiceless screech as Ozaki showed his baby pictures.

She had a whole gallery of them; with pictures of Chuuya in a diaper and nothing else, Chuuya naked in a plastic bath, him with gross orange food all over his face...

It was a nightmare.

"Fine. I'll wear the damn thing." Chuuya ground out, eyeing Ozaki's finger that was hovering over the bright green send button. He tugged the shirt and pants on, and Ozaki fixed the tie for him.

Clapping happily while Chuuya looked miserable, Ozaki grabbed something else from a box in his closet that Chuuya hadn't even noticed existed. She pulled out something shiny and white, and placed it onto Chuuya's head.

A hat.

More specifically, a white hat with bunny ears

Chuuya felt a little better with the hat on, and Ozaki smirked as she took silent pictures of him playing with the ears.

"Welp, time for me to dress too. Don't you dare wrinkle that." She warned, then stepped out of the room.

----

"I'm surprising you when we get there." Ozaki had her dress on already, and was slipping on her shoes.

"Oh really~?" Yosano asked, and Ozaki laughed. "Maybe a special-"

Turning down the volume, Ozaki hushed her girlfriend. "Hey, my little brother's home. Chuu's brain can't process things like that."

She clipped her jewellery into place, and set out for the door.

🐇

"How do I look?" Akiko twirled around, and Dazai poked his head out from behind his dressing divider.

She was wearing a sunflower print ensemble with her pair of shoes in hand. Her pastel yellow earrings sat on the vanity so she could fasten them later.

Dazai gave her a thumbs up, and went back to dressing himself.

He was a bit...surprised, to say the least, about his own clothes.

Akiko had helped him pick it out like last time, but she chose the clothing this round. He'd been open to try out whatever she gave him, and it wasn't all that bad.

It was a pink crop top, (thanks, great parents) white skater skirt, and pink wedge heels. Akiko had also fished some festive jewellery out of a box for him to wear as well, a pair of rose earrings. Dazai loved the outfit, and he thought it was amazing, but there was one thing that had bothered him:

What if Chuuya thought him wearing a skirt was weird?

Akiko had tried to quell his worries while they were in the bathroom by saying, "Hey, since he obviously loves your entire lower body, let's just give him an early birthday present."

It only slightly helped, but now Dazai had a different thing on his mind.

Chuuya's birthday was coming up and he had nothing to give him.

Shaking his head, Dazai just pulled his skirt up and fixed it in his mirror. His eyes widened as he felt a bit...different than before. It wasn't a bad kind of different; it was like when you try something you don't like- then end up liking it.

Loving it, even.

"Oi, done yet?" Akiko poked her head in as Dazai was looking in the mirror, scaring the life out of him. "Huh... This looks better than I thought it would." Shrugging, Akiko left Dazai to swallow his heart back into his chest.

When he was finished dressing, the brunette hadn't looked in the mirror.

He'd been avoiding it the whole time, and Akiko was now trying to get him to look into the full length glass of doom. "Come on, Osamu. You look amazing." She urged, shaking the mirror.

"What if I don't, though?" Dazai turned away, refusing to look.

"If you looked ugly, then I would've told you so already."

"Gee, thanks."

Sighing, Akiko thought for a few seconds. Her face then turned from one of concentration to one of maliciousness. "Hey, Osamu."

"What is it now?" Dazai huffed, crossing his arms and not looking behind him.

"Look out below!" Akiko threw Dazai's skirt upwards, and the brunette screamed. He turned around on instinct, and doing so put him face to face with the shiny mirror.

To say he was surprised was an understatement.

"See? You look amazing." Akiko said as Dazai gazed at himself with an eyes wide expression on his face. "I bet Chuuya would love to see you in this, too."

"S-Shut up!"

🐰

"Ryuu!" Atsushi poked his head through his door, and Akutagawa was already there waiting for him.

A few days ravenette had absolutely refused to touch anything pastel pink, yellow, blue or anything of the sort. After some coaxing and puppy eyes by Atsushi, he gave in and bought something pastel purple (absolutely disgusting) and now he was wearing it.

It was a pastel purple suit ensemble with a white dress shirt, and he had a gross  matching bowtie. He was also sporting a pair of fluffy bunny ears (courtesy of Atsushi).

"Do you like my outfit?" Atsushi stepped out of his room, and Akutagawa gave him a once over.

He was wearing a pink jumper with a plain white long sleeve t-shirt underneath, and he also had on a different pair of striped pink pastel thigh highs than their last ice cream date. Atsushi had bought some flowery slip on shoes over the weekend, and a pair of peach rose flower earrings

Immediately after taking Atsushi's outfit in, Akutagawa went to give thanks to the gods at his shrine.

"Ryuu, where'd you even get that?!" Atsushi said, pulling him over to the great room. We need to get ready for the guests soon."

The halls were decorated festively, bright flowers and banners of every pastel colors pinned to the walls. Easter eggs were hidden among them by the staff, and Atsushi was happy that they could blend in and make it more fun.

He could smell carrot cake and other sweets baking in the kitchens, and Atsushi took a deep inhale as he walked through the hallways until he reached the entryway.

He could hear people outside, and threw the doors open to meet them.
