Chapter 1: What Happened to Kim Namjoon

Chapter Text

Namjoon had missed the jump and fell into one of the ship’s rooms. He hit something and screamed. Then, he heard some shouting, a scuffle and Taehyung was running back to help Namjoon, peering into the room.

“Go, go! I’m fine! I’ll catch up soon! Go!” Namjoon said, hissing through his teeth at the pain.

“I’m not leaving without you!” Seokjin ran back, looking down in the room.

“Don’t worry, hyung! I’ll help Namjoon-hyung get out of this! We’ll catch up soon!” Taehyung shouted over the screams.

“Hyung!” Jungkook cried, attempting to run back to Namjoon.

“Someone take Jungkook’s hand and take him up! We’ll catch up soon!” Taehyung shouted.

“No! Don’t! Hyung!” Jungkook tried to resist, but Hoseok grabbed his hand.

“Jungkook-ah! Hold on to Hoseok-hyung’s hand tightly and get out! We’ll meet you guys outside soon!” Taehyung yelled.

“Go! Now! I’ll be okay!” Namjoon smiled at Seokjin, hoping his dimples were enough to convince him.

“Hyung, lemme help you.” Taehyung said, as he reached down to try and help Namjoon up. Namjoon could barely reach his hand and his leg wasn’t helping him. He fell back down.

“I landed weird and my leg hurts. I-I can’t reach you.” Namjoon laughed dryly. Taehyung chuckled emptily back.

“Taehyung-ah, go.” Namjoon said.

“What?”

“Go. Just go on without me. Jungkook needs you and so does everyone else. So go help them. Save yourself now, I promise I’ll follow after you soon.”

“Hyung…”

“Go. Hurry!”

Taehyung began to cry. “Hyung, I don’t want to leave yo-”

“Come on!” Namjoon shouted, as he began to push the beds and bags together for himself to climb out to get out. “Go! You still have time!” Namjoon smiled, shooing him away.

“But hyung-”

“Go now , Taehyung-ah. Really, I’ll be fine. I’ll get out soon and catch up to you guys. I’ll see you guys out there. Alive. ” Namjoon said, as he ushered Taehyung to leave.

Taehyung nodded tearily then ran off.

As soon as he was gone, his footsteps echoing through the hallways, Namjoon began to cry, too. He knew he couldn’t get out. His leg was injured, he didn’t have the strength to pull himself out… It just wasn’t enough.

Soon, water began to gush into the room, flooding it without stopping.

Namjoon through this was it- he tried to swim up and out the doorway, but he couldn’t find it.

No, no, no-

He tried to open his eyes to see if he could find it, but his eyesight was poor enough without the cold and salty burn and blur of the seawater on his eyes. It just hurt too much.

He stuck his hand out to feel where he was, but he only felt a wall. His lungs began to burn, his leg sharp and stinging and then… the pain ended and he felt nothing but contentedness.
