Win VS Dog

Summary:

Win had noticed they didn’t have any drinks left, so he’d gone and bought some more at the nearest convenience store. When he came back though, Team wasn’t laying on the ground anymore. Instead, he was sat up, caressing a beautiful dog’s ears vigorously while talking cheerily with his owner.

Notes:

The prompt was ‘I got a winteam prompt. Jealousy with a lil angst? Someone flirts with Team but he doesn’t get it. Then Win reacts aggressively. With the making up at the end of course pls and thanks.’

Work Text:

One of Team’s flaws had always been his severe obliviousness. It had even been an obstacle in him ending up with Win in the first place. But even now that they were together, it seemed to persist in showing its nose during the worst of occasions.

It was one of these sunny days, neither too hot or too cold, perfect for going outside. Team loved nature so they had gone to a park to do some kind of romantic picnic. After their meal, when they were starting to get sluggish and lay on the grass while listening to music, Win had noticed they didn’t have any drinks left, so he’d gone and bought some more at the nearest convenience store.

When he came back though, Team wasn’t laying on the ground anymore. Instead, he was sat up, caressing a beautiful dog’s ears vigorously while talking cheerily with his owner.

Now, Win didn’t have anything against dogs. In fact, he might have loved them even more than Team. But Win did have problems with people flirting with his boyfriend, which the stranger was clearly doing.

His hands were almost tangling themselves with Team’s in the dog fur, and he had crouched down so close to his boyfriend they were almost at kissing distance. And that, to the very possessive person Win was, was unacceptable.

Before he could even think about it, he’d been walking earnestly in their direction, stopping a few steps away as he heard their conversation.

“So, who are you here with?” the stranger asked with a charming smile.

Team still hadn’t realized Win was behind them, hidden from both of their sights. He passed a shy hand in his hair with a smile equally as wide.

“I’m here with my friend, P’.”

Win swallowed down loudly. Friend… Friend? Okay.

At that point he basically ran in Team’s direction, grabbed his bag and sandals, and walked right away. He could hear Team say goodbye to the stranger, struggling to gather all of his stuff and follow him.

“P’Win!” he shouted from behind him, which only made Win speed up, anger bubbling up in his chest even further.

“P’Win, wait for me! I don’t understand what’s going on!”

In a few minutes, they had reached the park’s entrance, Win still many steps ahead of Team. The junior had stopped calling him and was probably focusing on running in his direction. But still, doubts invaded Win’s mind. Maybe Team had completely stopped, giving up on chasing after him. Maybe Win wasn’t running from anyone anymore and his boyfriend had already took the train to go home. It didn’t feel like it’d be something Team would do, yet Win couldn’t let this thought fade away once he had it.

After a minute or two, he started slowing down before turning around to look behind him, only to be greeted by Team’s hands clasped firmly on his arm not to let him get away from him again.

“Ah!” he exclaimed victoriously. “Finally! Now tell me what’s going on.”

Win rolled his eyes and turned his face in the other direction without saying a word.

“Come on, P’… I really don’t get it, but whatever I did, I’m sorry.”

Win huffed loudly. “You don’t even know what you did?”

Team got silent for a moment, before speaking again. “Don’t tell me you’re jealous once again?”

Win widened his eyes. The way he had said it felt disrespectful. “Oh wow, it’s almost like you could read my mind! It’s not like I have told you before I hate seeing you flirt with other people!”

“I didn’t flirt with him, though.” Team let go of his grasp on his arm. “His dog literally attacked me with cuddles so I started caressing it and he came over to get it back and started talking to me.”

“Flirting with you,” Win rectified.

“Maybe he was flirting! But you know very well I’m oblivious to these sorts of things and you also know I would never flirt back.”

“Well it’s time you stopped being so oblivious, Team!”

Team looked angry, which was not a good sign. “And then you should stop being irrationally jealous!”

“This is who I am!”

“Well being oblivious is who I am! But it’s not what could destroy our relationship, your jealousy is! Especially since it’s not even founded!”

“I love you!” Win exclaimed, closing his eyes. “I love you and I can’t even fathom the thought of losing you. So yes, I’m jealous. That you’ll find someone better than me.”

“P’...” Team was breathless with shock.

“Oh but I forget, I’m just your friend so there’s nothing to worry about,” he retorted.

Team looked shameful now. “You heard? P’, I’m...”

Win shook his head. “You know what? I’m tired. Let’s talk tomorrow, I need time to rest.”

And with these last words, he walked away, taking the first motorcycle taxi he could find and leaving Team behind.

Win regretted it a few minutes into his ride home, that whole fight. It had destroyed an absolutely great date they’d been having beforehand. But it was that goddamn ‘he’s my friend’ that had hit the nail on the head. Because they had started out as sort of friends, hadn’t they? And it had been hard to become more in an official way, so it hurt to hear Team dismiss what they were.

Win couldn’t fall asleep that night. He kept replaying their fight in his head, until he couldn’t take it anymore. He got out of bed with the plan of going out in his pajamas to go see Team. He took his keys and his phone and nothing else before opening his door.

A confused Team was standing behind it, a hand raised in a knocking gesture as he stared at him and Win gaped at him back.

“Where are you going, P’?” the junior asked.

“To you,” Win answered under his breath, before pushing himself out of the way to let him in.

Team entered the room, looking suddenly nervous, before sitting on the bed. Win sighed and went to sit next to him. They stayed silent for a minute, incapable of looking at each other.

“I’m sorry.”

They both turned their heads swiftly to look at each other, realizing they had both said it at the same time.

“I’m sorry.”

Win rolled his eyes then, a smile forming on the corner of his lips. They still had said it at the same time.

“Okay,” the senior spoke, “You first.”

Team looked shy now and shook his head. “No, go ahead P’.”

He exhaled loudly. “I’m sorry for being so jealous. I know it’s dumb and irrational but I feel so protective of you because I know you won’t even know you’re being flirted with. But it’s never about not trusting you. I just… have to work on it by myself.”

Team was smiling now. “I’m sorry I called you my friend. You know I don’t see you as such and I can tell everyone we know we’re together, but… I’m still weary of strangers because I never know how they could react, so I panicked and called you my friend.”

Win sighed, looking at the ceiling. “I get it, it’s scary. But the guy was flirting with you and there was nothing I could do about it… I can’t possibly beat a cute dog,” he joked.

“That’s true, you can’t,” Team smiled.

Win hit him in the chest.

“Ouch!”

Win laughed, before pushing Team on the bed and straddling him, his hands sitting on the comforter around his head.

“So you would trade me with this random dog?” he pouted.

Team pretended to reflect on it for a minute, before shaking his head. “No, P’. I can’t make out with a dog.”

Before Win could process the answer, he saw Team extended his head upward so he could leave a small peck on his mouth. He felt joy bubble up in his chest, and suddenly all of the angst he had felt since the afternoon disappeared.

“So you forgive me?” he asked.

Team nodded. “I do. What about you?”

Win cupped his face with his hands, caressing his cheek softly. “You know I can never be mad at you more than a few hours.”

The smile Team sent him was enough to make up for everything that had happened that day. As he went to kiss him, Team spoke again.

“You told me you love me.”

Win jolted a few inches away, feeling his face get warm.

He bit his lip. “I… did.”

Team looked as shy as him. “That’s new, I haven’t heard that one before.”

“I know, I shouldn’t have said during a fight, but it flowed out of my mouth -”

“I love you too, P’.”

Win stopped, staring at his boyfriend while his signature smug smile formed on his lips.

“You just told me you love me too.”

Team’s face was bright red and he avoided eye contact but he nodded. “Hm. We’re quits now.”

“We’re not quits yet,” Win insisted, his hands grabbing his head to make Team’s eyes face his as he got closer to him once again. “You kissed me but I haven’t kissed you back yet.”

Team blushed again, though his hands went up to his boyfriend’s face too, guiding him to his lips. And as their lips touched, Win threw that whole ‘quits’ idea out of the window. Only two kisses was way too little to celebrate their reconciliation and their first ‘I love you’s.

Notes:

Aaaaaah I don’t know why I struggled a bit with this fic lmao, it took me a week to write something I’d usually write in two days, idk I had difficulty grasping teamwin as characters and even as a ship. Some ships are very easy to write for me and others get a bit tricky because I haven’t really gotten the full extent of their essence as a ship. Anyways I still like how it turned out and I hope you did too!
