Work Text:
everyone who knew jeongguk knew he was a curious baby, and would even play with things that weren't toys. he also liked colourful stuff, and bossing his parents around.
"ah!" jeongguk exclaimed as he pointed at a bright red teapot that was stored at the top of the glass cupboard.
seokjin had just bought it last week after yoongi and him decided to cut back on their coffee intake and start drinking tea instead. he saw it at a saturday market and was fascinated by the bright colour so he bought it.
yoongi snorted at the thought. truly like father like son.
"what is it, baby?" seokjin asked, glancing up from his phone for a split second before looking back down, engrossed in whatever mobile game he had found recently.
"ahh!" jeongguk whined as he waved his arm, pointing at the teapot again, and this time seokjin put his phone down to look at jeongguk and what he was pointing at.
"that's not a toy, ggukie," seokjin said.
jeongguk stared at him, unblinking, and pointed at the teapot again.
yoongi watched the staring match in amusement, knowing that seokjin would give up first.
seokjin sighed in defeat and turned his body towards the glass cupboard, reaching out towards it.
"oh no, it's too high for me to reach," he said as he made grabby motions towards the cupboard that was far out of reach from where he was sitting.
jeongguk stared at him, blinked, then sighed deeply and got up to toddle over towards yoongi who was lying down on the couch, his reading interrupted while he watched the two.
"wait, what is that supposed to mean?" seokjin half-whined half-complained even as he laughed at jeongguk's deep sigh.
"he's sighing like an old man, like you," yoongi commented as he put his book on the coffee table and helped jeongguk up onto the couch to cuddle him. "but i wonder why he never asked me to get things for him."
"what do you mean?"
"i mean, he asked you to get the teapot, not me."
"well, that may be because he knows you're short and wouldn't reach it anyway."
yoongi looked down at jeongguk, who had just settled down on his lap. jeongguk stared back before nodding.
"yah, you're not supposed to say yes to that!"
"don't tell our son to lie, yoongichi, that's not good."
"ugh."
