Work Text:

As the eldest of his siblings, Touya took it upon himself to make sure everything went smoothly while their parents were away.

Since the birth of his baby brother two years ago, his mother hadn’t escorted his father to any kind of event. However, when Shouto turned two, his father considered him old enough for not needing his mother’s presence 7/24 anymore. That led to her having to go with him to the Hero Billboard Chart.

”You know every important phone number, right?” His mother asked and Touya smiled at her, nodding as confirmation. ”All right, sweetheart. We will be back around 12 AM.”

”Don’t worry, mother,” Touya said. ”I can handle things.” Rei nodded with a kind smile, then followed her husband through the front door.

After the door was slid closed, Touya returned to the living room where his siblings were left. The sight hadn’t changed, which was a relief… or not!

”Yumi, what are you doing!” He whisper-shouted, rushing to his sister, who was about to write on Natus’ face.

”He’s asleep. It doesn’t bother him,” Fuyumi whispered back with a smirk.

”I have a really bad feeling about this,” he muttered under his breath, but let her be. He walked back to the middle of the room, where his youngest brother was absorbed in playing with some blocks. ”What are ya building there, Shou?” He asked with a smile.

The toddler looked up at him, then cooed. Touya accepted that he wouldn’t get anything else out of him, so he sat down beside him, reopening his book on the page he put his bookmark in. His peace only lasted for a few minutes, when he heard the bloody scream of her sister’s name and squealing, coming from the bathroom.

” You cannot blame me! It was too tempting!” Fuyumi yelled as she ran in the room with an angry Natsu in her heels.

”You can’t just write on others’ foreheads that they are stupid!”

”But when you are stupid!” Fuyumi retorted with giggles and Natsuo launched himself at her with renewed strength.

As the neared them, Touya jumped up, outstretching his arms as he tried to shield Shouto from the chaos. He turned his head back, glaring at the younger children.

”Stop playing like this! You’ll ruin-” but he couldn’t finish, because Natsuo pushed him from behind and Touya watched with horror as Shouto’s tower crumbled because of the impact of his knee.

Seeing his tower being destroyed, Shouto looked up at him, tears gathering in his eyes. Touya’d never felt a panic so strong in his chest. He fell on his knees and pulled Shouto to his chest, who had already started crying silently.

”Touya-nii, what have you done?” Natsuo asked accusingly and Touya glared up at him.

”Awe, poor thing!” Fuyumi gasped as she knelt down across from Touya. ”We have to cheer him up!”

”What’s on your mind, sis?” Natsuo asked, grudge long forgotten.

”Shou-chan~” Fuyumi cooed and the little boy slowly turned his head towards her. Fuyumi lifted his hand up and after a few seconds small snowflakes were dancing on her palm.

”Wow, so cool!” Natsuo exclaimed and Shouto’s little eyes widened too in wonder.

Fuyumi blew at the little flakes, so those left her palm and started dancing in the space between the siblings. Shouto let out a giggle, clapping his hands together as the flakes reached him and one of them fell on his nose.

As he watched his delighted little brother, Touya let out a sight. It seemed like the night wouldn’t end in catastrophe after all.
