~.O.~

"Lan Zhan, let go of me please?"

His wrists hurt. The Lan ribbon wasn't even that thin yet with how elaborately Lan Zhan had tied it, and with how Wei Wuxian had been pulling on it in a vain attempt to free himself, his wrists felt like they'd been rubbed raw. The skin was red and burned.

Furthermore, why did the esteemed Hanguang-Jun block the door? What was going on in his alcohol-addled mind? Did he think the Juniors would be coming up and trying to get in without knocking?

"You tied me up so tight I'm bound to bleed all over your precious ribbon, Lan Zhan!" he whined pitifully, bottom lip jutting out with his signature pout. "It hurts so much!"

And yet Lan Zhan stood there staring at him.

"Please? Just remove the ribbon and we can get back to-"

A strong hand clasped over his mouth, making it so he couldn't speak.

Wei Wuxian was astounded by the levels of rudeness and shamelessness Lan Wangji ascended to when he was under the influence of alcohol! This was even worse than the last time!

Also, he seemed to have a habit of pretending he couldn't hear whenever Wei Wuxian said something he didn't like.

Childish… but also kind of cute.

Deciding it was time to take matters into his own hands, Wei Wuxian carefully opened his mouth just a little, and brushed his tongue across the heart of Lan Zhan's palm.

Lan Wangji withdrew immediately, face flushed as he clutched his hand to his chest. "You-!" He couldn't even manage to finish his sentence, he was so shocked.

On Wei Wuxian's end, he was taking a nice, deep breath of sweet, cool air that didn't smell of sandalwood. Though to be honest, it wasn't actually a bad scent.

Though the other man's labored breathing did raise a bit of concern. It was just a small lick. Nowhere near as obscene as he could have made it. And he didn't even do it in public, so no one had to lose face!

"No need to be so upset over it," he murmured, curious to know why Lan Zhan was breathing so heavily over something so small. "I actually wanted to bite you. You should be thanking me, not acting like some pervert just assaulted you."

And yet the deep offense didn't seem to go away as Lan Wangji held his delicate hand to his chest, staring down at it as if in wonder.

"It couldn't have been that bad," Wei Wuxian commented with a frown. "Show me your hand. I'm certain I didn't hurt you."

Instead of doing as he was told, Lan Zhan stood and shuffled away, peeking at Wei Wuxian through his long hair as he went. He disappeared behind a privacy screen and then peaked around it to see if Wei Wuxian was still watching. His shadow on the other side was too large for the size of his head, making the whole scene look ridiculous.

Wei Wuxian moved closer to the screen, but Lan Zhan merely hid behind it again. When the Demonic Cultivator popped around the other side, Lan Zhan was gone, once again outside of his line of sight. The shadow on the screen was all he could see.

"Why are you running? I'm the one tied up here, there's no need for you to be running."

He pursued the other again, and ended up running in circles around the screen. If all Lans were like this the moment they got their hands on some alcohol, he could understand why it was forbidden up on their precious mountain. This was ridiculous.

"Lan Zhan, this isn't a very large room. Running and hiding aren't going to work here! I can still see your shadow even if you move too fast for me to see you."

Playing hide n' seek with Lan Wangji wasn't something he ever thought would happen between them. Why was Wei Wuxian even humoring such behavior? He should put the other to bed. Have him wash his face, drink some water to prevent a horrible headache in the morning, and then make him sleep.

That was the kind and mature thing to do for a friend.

"Lan Zhan, let's stop now."

The man sighed, the shoulders of his shadow slumping from the other side of the screen.

Lan Wangji was sad that they couldn't play anymore. Would wonders never cease?

"Hanguang-Jun… do you want to keep playing?"

"Mm."

He was so forthright even while drunk. It was impressive and kind of hilarious. Wei Wuxian almost felt bad, but then remembered that he chose to drink as well. Just because Wei Wuxian whined about wanting to drink with someone didn't mean he had to join in.

"Fine. I suppose I can humor you a little further. Run!"

Lan Zhan's face became intense in that moment and he nodded his understanding.

Wei Wuxian gave chase; Lan Wangji fled. Around and around the screen they went, until Lan Wangji changed directions, putting the table between them instead. On Wei Wuxian's end, he was reminded of similar shenanigans with Jiang Cheng and Nie Huaisang back when they studied at the Cloud Recesses.

It was actually fun.

"If I catch you, Lan Zhan, I'm going to go along with my original plan and bite you!" he warned as he tried to cut the other off by jumping over the table.

He was given no warning as Lan Zhan stopped dead and turned to catch him in his strong arms. "You caught me."

Um… did it count if Lan Wangji was actually the one doing the holding? He allowed Wei Wuxian to catch up with him and now held him caged in his arms.

Wei Wuxian's heart sputtered a bit and he wondered why such a reaction happened at all.

"Does this count as catching you, Lan Zhan?"

"Mm. You caught me."

"No. No, this doesn't count. This isn't a fair capture," Wei Wuxian insisted.

Lan Wangji pouting was like some sort of divine punishment. No one should look that beautiful while doing something so childish. He felt as if he'd offended a god or something.

He groaned. "Fine, fine. Give me your hand."

Said hand was presented immediately. Lan Zhan really wanted to be bitten, huh? Weird.

Wei Wuxian turned the calloused flesh over, bringing it up to his mouth slowly. Lan Zhan watched, eyes as intense as always. His teeth closed around the flesh near the thumb and tightened enough to leave a noticeable mark, making Lan Zhan gasp.

His tongue trailed over the indentations his teeth left behind in hopes of soothing any aches he'd caused, before Wei Wuxian succumbed to the sudden urge to kiss Lan Zhan's palm in apology.

Once again, Lan Zhan gasped, eyes going wide in response. The tips of his ears flushed red, which was adorable.

"Is that a good or bad reaction, Lan Zhan? Did you like it or not?"

"Again."

"Hm?"

"Again."

"Do what again?"

"Catch me."

He then backed away several paces, looking ready to dart in any possible direction once Wei Wuxian gave chase.

He got one step in, before Lan Zhan returned to his side, wrapping his arms around the smaller man again and insisting, "You caught me."

"That's not how this works, Lan Zhan. That's not how any of this works."

"You caught me," the older man insisted again.

Wei Wuxian sighed. "Do you just want me to kiss you?"

And no one would ever believe him if he told them that Lan Wangji gave a very sharp nod in response to his question. That his eyes dilated instantly. That he crushed Wei Wuxian even closer to his chest. "Wei Ying. Kiss."

He felt flustered! This wasn't what he'd expected of their night. Even when he thought Lan Zhan would be a bit silly because of his issue with alcohol, he never thought he'd end up placing kisses on Hanguang-Jun's body!

That didn't sound right to the ear, but that was technically what was happening. And Lan Zhan was liking it!

"You want another kiss, Lan Zhan?"

"Mm."

He was getting caught on purpose. For kisses. From Wei Wuxian.

"Let's sit for this. Get on the bed."

He was dragged over and placed right beside Lan Wangji, who was watching him again, looking ready and intense as always.

"You like this that much, huh?"

Lan Zhan looked away, but Wei Wuxian wouldn't let him pretend to ignore something just because he didn't want to hear it. Not this time.

"No need to be bashful, Hanguang-Jun. If you wanted me to pamper you we didn't need to run around. I'd consider it an honor to pamper you. Give me your hand."

It was practically thrust in his face, long and slender fingers awaiting his attention. He had beautiful hands.

Wei Wuxian placed another kiss on Lan Zhan's hand, this time on the back, in the center.

Another gasp. And then… "Again."

He did so, enjoying the flush working it way across the other's face, starting at his ears and finally moving inward. Lan Wangji was so beautiful that even when tired, stressed, anxious, and bashful he still looked amazing. And his hands were amazing. Everything about him was amazing.

How Zewu-Jun had been in first place among the eligible young cultivators, Wei Wuxian could never understand. Lan Zhan was obviously more appealing.

Beautiful… just like his hands.

Another kiss, this time on those slim but deceptively strong fingers. They curled in immediately, making a fist that shook in his grasp.

Yet, while his hand seemed to pull back, Lan Wangji leaned even closer, his larger form practically looming over Wei Wuxian. He was so close that his hair was touching Wei Wuxian's shoulder.

Ba-bump.

For some reason, his heartbeat felt more obvious the closer Lan Zhan got.

Ba-bump.

Weren't they too close? Should he put some distance between them? Why did his throat feel so tight?

Had Lan Zhan's eyes always been the color of honey? He could have sworn they were a bright gold early that morning.

"Lan Zhan… you never did tell me what you thought of me," he said, recalling the last time the man had been inebriated. He leaned back a little, not shocked when the other followed him, fully committing to invading his personal space.

His heart persisted in its quest to let Lan Zhan know exactly where it was. It was so loud in his ears!

As for Lan Zhan… the honey color was eclipsed by black as he said firmly, "Mine." He didn't even blink as he said it.

"Eh?"

"Husband. Mine."

"EH?!"

Lan Zhan grasped his wrist and tugged him until he was pressed against the other's torso. That hand tightened its grip on Wei Wuxian's wrist as the other chose to lay itself on the smaller man's waist. He was efficiently trapped in the cage of Lan Wangji's arms with nowhere to go thanks to his ridiculously unfair strength.

"Um… Lan Zhan. We aren't married."

There had been no bows of any sort as far as he was aware.

"Vow," said Lan Wangji, grabbing at the ribbon still tying Wei Wuxian's wrists together - which he'd somehow forgotten about amidst all the drama - and held it up. The intricate knotting was eye level. "Ceremonial Vow to marry. All regulation ceases when the ribbon comes off and is tied to your one and only with the appropriate knot."

His face had to be red by now! "Lan Zhan, you're drunk! You don't know what you're doing and you'll surely regret it in the morning!" Vowing to marry Wei Wuxian of all people! Was he mad?

He ignored the pang of regret over the fact that he wan't marriage material for anyone, but especially not Lan Wangji of GusuLan.

Golden/Honey eyes narrowed. "Wanted to give Wei Ying my ribbon since Phoenix Mountain."

Phoenix. Mountain.

What happened at Phoenix Mountain?

Wens being used during the archery competition.

Wei Wuxian showed up Jin Zixuan because of course he had to.

Lan Wangji refusing to give him his ribbon when he'd asked for it though he kind of understood why now.

The… kiss from the shy maiden.

A shy maiden capable of pinning a grown man down and him being unable to fight back at all despite no spells being used.

Wei Wuxian found himself on his back, Lan Zhan pressed against him as his wrists were pressed into the bedding above his head. A very familiar position.

"That… wasn't a maiden who stole my first kiss, was it?" he asked, heart pounding even faster and louder than before. Could it truly be the case?

"It was me," Lan Zhan declared firmly, if a bit smugly.

And that would explain why he practically punched a tree in half when Wei Wuxian came upon him not too long after!

His first and only kiss had been… nice. Erotic even. Lan Wangji kissed like that naturally? How?!

"Was I… the only person you've done that to?" he asked, feeling shy all of a sudden.

"Mm. Only want Wei Ying."

Oh.

Wow.

Oh, Lan Zhan.

Suddenly, several things began to make sense.

Lan Wangji had stepped between him and Jiang Cheng and defended him despite not actually knowing if Wei Wuxian had possessed Mo Xuanyu's body. He had known it was Wei Wuxian, but not that he'd come upon this form unwillingly. Possession was wrong and yet there had been a 50% chance that it was what the Yiling Patriarch had done, but Lan Wangji defended him anyway.

Before Zidian proved him innocent.

Hanguang-Jun went against his own sect's beliefs in doing that. He was supposed to locate and eradicate what was perceived as evil. No wonder Jiang Cheng was so annoyed by him doing that.

And there were jars of Emperor's Smile under Lan Zhan's floorboards! Since he didn't drink personally, they had to be there for a reason. What other reason than because of Wei Wuxian who loved it?

Wei Wuxian placed a hand on Lan Zhan's soft cheek, eyes going soft with budding emotion. "You care about me very much, don't you, Lan Zhan?" He just couldn't believe it took that long for him to realize it.

"Mm," the other agreed, taking up his hand in order to place it against his chest, where his heartbeat fluttered against his rib-cage like the wings of a bee. "The heart beats only for Wei Ying."

He was going to cry if more sweet words ended up coming out of such a perfect mouth!

Yet he wanted to hear more anyway.

"How much do you care about me, Hanguang-Jun?" He wanted to be a little selfish. He wanted to hear nice words about himself for once. It had been so long...

Lan Wangji's face became serious, hands reaching out and pulling him up until they were pressed against each other most intimately. "Played Inquiry every day until we met again on Dafan Mountain."

It was as if everything inside him froze.

Thirteen years. Lan Zhan. Lan Wangji. Hanguang-Jun had played a very cultivation-sensitive piece of music every single day. He wasn't one known for exaggeration so if he said every day, then it was every damn day since Wei Wuxian died.

He was that dedicated to a man long dead. One thought to be the epitome of all evil.

Yeah, the tears were coming now. Hot and stinging in that way tears did.

Yet Lan Wangji wasn't finished explaining the depths of his devotion.

"Found A-Yuan."

His heart stopped. Wen Yuan. A-Yuan. His little radish. The boy he'd looked at as his own and who helped him better understand the meaning of the word responsibility. Who had made him wanted to be a better example.

Lan Wangji's eyes were soft in a way they rarely were as they gazed down at him. "Took A-Yuan home. Raised him as my own."

And the tears started back up even harder than before, completely blurring the vision of Lan Zhan.

It wasn't lost on Wei Wuxian, how serious that was. Taking in a child you didn't personally help create always came with no small amount of rumors and shame. Uncle Jiang had gotten it all the time for taking in his friend's child. Even as a sect leader he hadn't been spared from the gossip.

Lan Zhan hadn't been there at the end. He'd been elsewhere. And he'd found A-Yuan soon after. He had to because any longer and the boy wouldn't have been alive. Wouldn't have been able to be raised at all. While the cultivation world took down the Yiling Patriarch, Hanguang-Jun was busy being a hero.

"Where is our A-Yuan, Lan Zhan?"

"Sizhui."

Lan Sizhui. Lan Yuan. The Junior disciple that he couldn't help but favor because something about the boy just made him feel proud. His little radish was almost all grown up!

And Lan Zhan had named the boy "yearning".

Wei Wuxian was not okay!

And still, Lan Wangji was not finished.

"Composed Wangxian for Wei Ying when we were still teenagers." And then he began to hum a familiar song. The one Lan Wangji had sung to him in the cave. The one that got Wei Wuxian through the times when he felt sad and stressed. The one he played to calm Wen Ning at Dafan Mountain. A song composed for him by Lan Wangji himself. Called "Wangxian".

Wangxian which had been sung to him while they were trapped in the cave. Which happened before the kiss on Phoenix Mountain.

All the way back then?! Lan Wangji's affections stretched that far back.

"Love Wei Ying more than life."

"How are you so good?" he asked, reaching out to cup the other's face. "How can someone be this perfect? Hanguang-Jun, what are you doing to my poor heart? It's fragile, you know. It can't handle such sweet declarations in such quick succession. I need a moment to collect myself."

His face felt hot.

"Mm. Wei Ying needs to hear," Lan Zhan asserted firmly. "Wei Ying deserves love."

The warm and fuzzy feelings inside expanded with every word, even as the stinging in his eyes became sharper.

It had been such a long time since someone had told him that. His shijie, if he recalled correctly.

Lan Wangji, a man of very few words, was taking his time with this. Choosing his words carefully. Words he'd probably thought about millions of times over the years of his obvious pining. Years to finally get what he wanted to say, set in the correct order. And those words, every single one of them, struck him harder than any sword could.

Wei Wuxian leaned completely against his best friend, knowing full well that Lan Zhan would support him entirely.

"You're my favorite," he murmured into the man's chest. "And I have a confession to make," he said, looking up shyly.

The other waited patiently, not even daring to blink.

"Last time you drank with me… you made me sleep next to you instead of in my own room. I dreamed about you and I using that bed for other purposes."

Seeing Lan Zhan's eyes dilate instantly made him shiver.

Their noses bumped, the space between them disappearing instantly until there was just enough space for a breath.

Lan Wangji seemed to grow tired of the hesitance as he finally did what both of them seemed to want, and kissed Wei Wuxian within an inch of his life!

Like that time on Phoenix Mountain, but even better!

His hands were large and strong and easily lifted Wei Wuxian so he could sit directly in the Second Jade's lap. He always knew that Lan Zhan was powerful in many ways, but every time he got to witness the fact, it left him a bit breathless.

And aroused.

So very aroused. Deceptive strength was so erotic!

"Wei Ying," the other murmured.

"Lan Zhan," he replied, a bit annoyed at having to pull away.

But Lan Zhan looked as intense as always, if a bit more lucid. Something in his stomach fluttered. "Did the alcohol wear off?"

"Mm. Around when you said I'm your favorite."

"...So we don't have to stop, right?"

Lan Wangji's arms tightened. "We can use this bed. Make up for the lost opportunity last time."

He couldn't help but gape. This Lan Zhan, older and more wise and mature, had finally come to understand what he wanted out of life. He was very much the same person yet so very different. Yet Wei Wuxian liked both versions he'd come to know.

Also, his words made the Yiling Patriarch flush with pleasure.

"Will you make love to me, Lan Zhan?"

"Mm. Your hands will stay tied."

He shivered in response. "Please?" He wanted it!

"Will make certain Wei Ying knows he's loved."

He could get behind that plan! "And I'll do my best to return that love for as long as you want me, Hanguang-Jun."

"Will always want Wei Ying," Lan Zhan said firmly, standing so he could arrange Wei Wuxian how he wanted on the bed that surely should have been larger for what they were about to do.

"Such sweet words, Lan Zhan! I can be very clingy. Keep saying things like that and you'll lose face because of my actions!"

"Don't care."

The next morning, the Juniors got to witness the self-professed lunatic as he clung to Lan Sizhui and bawled his eyes out, saying odd things like 'my little radish' and 'sweet baby lotus'. And Lan Sizhui merely took it, looking up at Hanguang-Jun in confusion, only to be told to wait until later for an explanation.

Mo-qianbei was weird, they all decided.
