Work Header

i do, love you

Summary:

Tine started thinking about how much his life had changed once Sarawat entered it. None of his past relationships felt like this. None of them made him feel like he mattered as much as the world. None of them held him as if he was the most precious thing on earth. None of them felt like home. Most importantly, none of them were Sarawat.

Oh. Oh.

Sarawat and Tine's first "I love you."

Work Text:

Tine finally came home and he felt half-dead. Not only did he have cheer practice, but he also had to work with some shitty people for some stupid school project earlier. They didn't want to do any work whatsoever, but decided to meet up just to catch up while they instructed Tine to do everything. Tine felt himself getting more upset as he thought more about the whole situation.

"Everything okay?" Sarawat asked, socked feet softly padding on the hardwood floor. He had a towel around his neck and his hair was freshly damp from the shower. Tine's heart felt warm at the sight of him.

"Yeah, I'm just tired. Today felt like forever." Sarawat frowned at his answer.

Tine moved to hug Sarawat, but the shorter boy moved away. "Shower first. You're gross. I'll make dinner for us, so hurry up so I can hug you."

Tine whined, but complied. He showered quickly, itching to be around the other boy. When he turned off the shower, he could hear Sarawat humming in the kitchen. He'd never get sick of his voice.

Tine exited the bathroom, vigorously rubbing his head with the towel to get rid of the water. Sarawat was setting the table and Tine felt his heart swelling at the sight. They'd been living together for 5 months, but that didn't stop Tine from getting giddy every time he caught Sarawat doing anything domestic (Sarawat was the same with Tine).

Sarawat saw Tine and beckoned him towards him. Sarawat wrapped his arms around Tine and kissed his cheek. Tine leaned into his touch, softly sighing as he hugged him back. Sarawat pulled away slightly to peck Tine on the mouth. Tine smiled at him with adoration.

"C'mon," Sarawat tugged Tine to the table. "Let's eat."

As they ate, they talked about their days. Tine complained about his day, worries leaving him as they slipped past his tongue. Sarawat listened attentively, commenting every now and then.

"... and he had the audacity to say, 'oh, sorry did you need our help?'" Tine groaned in frustration. "I hate group projects."

Sarawat knocked his knee against Tine's. He had this tiny smile on his face that Tine wished he could've taken a photo of. He looked so cute. "I wish I could help."

Tine shook his head and knocked his knee against Sarawat's. "You're doing more than enough just listening to me."

"Are you sure? I can try to knock some sense into him," Sarawat offered seriously.

Tine snickered. "Yeah right. Just stick to your music, Wat."

Sarawat shoved him with his foot under the table. Tine laughed and kept eating as if nothing had happened. Sarawat glared at him, but laughed as well. If teasing him was what made him laugh like that, Sarawat would gladly let Tine tease him for the rest of their lives.

They finished dinner and Tine washed the dishes despite Sarawat's complaints. After drying off the last cup, he went to go find the other boy. He heard the twang of a guitar and found Sarawat sitting on a chair on their balcony strumming softly. Tine grinned and took a seat next to him.

Sarawat sang quietly under his breath, fingers picking at the guitar. Tine watched him with adoration, a smile finding its way onto his lips. He sang along with Sarawat as he played another Scrubb song.

This had become routine for them. They'd eat dinner and Sarawat would play guitar for them afterwards. Usually he'd ask Tine for his song requests, and tonight was no different. Sometimes Tine would ask him to play his own songs, which would cause him to get very embarrassed. He played them anyways, blushing furiously as he sang another love song about Tine (Tine loved seeing Sarawat get so flustered over his own feelings for him).

Eventually, Sarawat put the guitar to the side. They basked in the silence together. Tine moved to stand near the ledge of the balcony. Sarawat followed, standing right next to him.

Moments like these made Tine realize how much he appreciated Sarawat's presence. Without saying anything, Sarawat made him feel safe. Sarawat was a constant in his life, and he was so thankful for that.

Tine started thinking about how much his life had changed once Sarawat entered it. None of his past relationships felt like this. None of them made him feel like he mattered as much as the world. None of them held him as if he was the most precious thing on earth. None of them felt like home. Most importantly, none of them were Sarawat.

Oh. Oh.

Tine's mouth went dry at his thoughts. He felt like he had to say it now, or he would never say it. He played with his fingers nervously. "Hey, Wat?"

"Yeah?"

Sarawat had this look on his face that Tine wanted to last forever. The tilt of his lips into a subtle smile, the glimmer in his dark eyes, his perfect eyebrows, the flush of his cheeks from being under Tine's attention - everything. Tine felt the wind get knocked out of him just at the sight of this Sarawat.

"I love you," Tine confessed, tearing his eyes away from Sarawat reluctantly. If he looked at Sarawat now, he was sure he would explode.

He stared out at the sky for a few moments. Worried at the silence, he turned back to look at Sarawat, only to see the other boy looking at him like he hung the moon in the sky himself. Tine smiled at him, his heart pounding out of his chest. "I love you so much, Sarawat."

Sarawat's eyes glistened, tears spilling over his cheeks. He smiled back at Tine, a watery laugh escaping his throat. "I love you too, Tine. I love you. I really, really love you. I love—"

Tine cut him off, lips pressing softly onto Sarawat's. Sarawat's arms snaked their way around Tine's neck, pulling him impossibly closer. Tine cradled Sarawat's face gently. There was no heat to the kiss, just pure passion and desperation for the other to truly understand how deep their feelings went.

Tine pulled away first, pecking a small kiss onto Sarawat's nose. He giggled as he saw the shorter boy scrunch his nose at the contact. He was so in love with him.

Sarawat sighed, resting his head on Tine's shoulder. His tears had subsided and his arms were currently wrapped around Tine's torso. "I can't believe you beat me to it. And you made me cry."

Tine took Sarawat's face in his hands, seeing a pout form on the other boy's lips. He kissed him once more on the lips, satisfied with the light blush on Sarawat's cheeks. "Beat you to what?"

"Saying 'I love you,'" Tine rolled his eyes. His boyfriend and his competitiveness. "What? I'm serious! I've been meaning to say it forever!"

Sarawat looked at him seriously, face devoid of any lies. Tine challenged him, a smug look on his face. "Since when?"

"Since the concert where we got back together and I sang my song for you," Sarawat replies in a heartbeat, no hesitation in his voice. Tine's eyes widened.

"Wat," Tine breathed out. "That was, like, 4 months ago!"

It was Sarawat's turn to roll his eyes. He moved away from Tine, facing out of the balcony. His arms rested on the ledge. "I'm well aware. It was just that... We just got back together and I didn't want to drive you away again. I was scared that my feelings would scare you away. I was scared that it was too soon for you and you would realize that you didn't love me. I was scared to lose you again."

Tine hugged Sarawat from behind, burying his face into the shorter boy's neck. A smile adorned his face as his boyfriend leaned into his touch. They stayed like that for a few moments, quietly observing the silent streets.

"You could never drive me away, Wat. I love you too much to leave."

Sarawat rested his head against Tine's, which was resting on his shoulder. "I'm glad we're on the same page."

They swayed gently, Tine humming softly into Sarawat's ear. Sarawat made no efforts of getting Tine off of him. Tine wished that this night would never end.

"You're my first love," Sarawat admitted quietly. Tine smiled into the shorter boy's neck, his heart swelling at his boyfriend's words.

"You're my first love, too," he mumbled into Sarawat's skin. Sarawat looked at him in disbelief. "No, seriously! I thought that I had loved before I met you, but I was so wrong. No one has ever made me feel this way, Wat."

Sarawat sighed happily, turning around to face Tine. He kissed Tine on the cheek, causing Tine to smile one of the prettiest smiles he'd ever seen.

"I really meant it," Sarawat whispered.

Tine tilted his head in curiosity. "Meant what?"

"I meant it when I said 'I just knew what love was when I met you' at that concert. I don't think I've ever been more right in my life," Sarawat confessed, his hands cradling Tine's face.

Tine grinned happily. "You're such a sap."

"Yup," Sarawat replied, lips quirking up into a smirk. "And you love me for it."

Tine kissed him on the mouth swiftly. He felt himself falling in love all over again. "Yeah, I do."

They stayed on the balcony for a bit longer, then Tine tugged them to their bed to sleep. They laid down together, staring at each other with the softest smiles on their faces. Sarawat brushed Tine's hair behind his ear. Tine sighed happily and closed his eyes. He felt Sarawat kiss him on the forehead. Sarawat continued to comb his fingers through Tine's hair.

"I love you, Tine," Sarawat whispered, removing his hand from Tine's head to intertwine their fingers. He pressed a kiss to their conjoined hands.

Tine cracked open his eyes, smiling softly as he saw Sarawat staring at him unabashedly. Tine kissed their hands, too. It felt as if they were living in their own little world. Sarawat smiled at him lopsidedly, and Tine's heart felt warm.

"I love you too, Wat."
