Work Text:

Midoriya Izuku held the door to his aunt's apartment open for Yamada-sensei and followed the blond inside. Izuku had asked to visit her after she got home from the hospital from a particularly bad heart attack and his loud teacher had been the only one available to accompany him (Aizawa had made it a rule after the Gentle incident that Midoriya was not, under any circumstances, allowed off-campus unless he was accompanied by a teacher).

The first thing the boy saw when he entered was the boring floral couches separated by a glass coffee table in the front room. There was some abstract art on the walls and the only thing that showed him what his aunt was really like was a portrait of a Sim that he knew from asking years ago was "Our Dear Leader". She also said something about catching frogs and living in a basement, but he had brushed it off as her being weird.

He had just closed the door behind them, when his aunt entered the room and greeted them with a warm smile and a hug, offering them a seat on one of the couches. And then she asked the question Izuku had only ever seen the repercussions of:

"Would you like something to drink?"

Oh, no.

She went to the kitchen and Izuku could hear her open the fridge.

"We have water, milk, juice, spiders, Dr pepper-"

"-Spiders?" Mic-sensei asked before the teen could stop him.

"Spiders it is, then," the crazy woman agreed, pulling a pitcher out of the fridge with little black things in it.

"No!" Izuku stood and tried to get to his aunt before she could reenter the room. "That wasn't-!"

But she was already pouring them two brimming glasses of spiders.

The spiders were fake, of course, but Mic didn't know that, and when the student turned to look at him, his eyes were wide and his breathing had shallowed significantly. Izuku pushed the cups into the woman's hands and shoved her back into the kitchen. When he returned to his teacher, the man was curling in on himself, muttering something the teen couldn't quite hear. Izuku quickly grabbed the man around his waist and draped the blond's arm around his shoulder so he could help him stand up and the two of them stumbled their way out of the apartment and to the car.

Izuku muttered apologies the entire time. He knew his aunt had a wicked sense of humor, but he didn't think she'd pull the spiders out like that. He should've warned his teacher anyway. And may asked his aunt to keep the pranks to a minimum.

They ended up sitting on a curb next to the vehicle for several moments, the student waiting for his teacher to calm down enough to go back to the dorms when Izuku realized they probably needed to get someone else to drive them home.

Not knowing anyone else’s number, he called Aizawa (because he was pretty sure the two men were friends and so he would be more willing to come help). Then he waited while trying to keep the blond sane.

Aizawa answered his phone with a gruff "What?" when he saw the Problem Child's number.

"Sensei?" The kid's voice sounded worried and... Guilty?

"Yes?" The teacher let his voice soften a little like he’d heard his best friend do repeatedly to scared kids who’d accidentally activated their quirks and broke this or that.

"I'm sorry!” Midoriya’s voice sounded slightly hysterical. “I didn't know she'd do it! Yamada-sensei's-" some rustling on the other end "-he's not hurt, but-" a round of heartfelt apologies "-Could you come get us? I don't think he can drive right now,"

Shouta agreed and sped to their location, not bothering with getting a car because the rooftops were faster anyway. When he arrived, he found his best friend sitting on the curb, shaking, with a terrified look in his eyes. He had Midoriya's All Might jacket draped around his shoulders while the teen's hands hovered over the pro hero, likely trying to figure out how best to help, whist spouting apologies like his life depended on it.

Aizawa sighed and helped Hizashi into the passenger's seat in the car while Midoriya climbed into the backseat. The teen apologized the entire ride back to campus, barely stopping for breath.

When they got to UA, the three of them made their way to a staff room and Shouta helped his friend onto a couch. He grabbed a weighted blanket from a closet and draped it over Hizashi before turning to the Problem Child. The greenette had yet to stop his stream of apologies, but with the rise of a single eyebrow, he was able to convey the question that was burning in his mind since he’d received the call from his student.

It took a while, but eventually, the kid told him what happened.

What the shit?

The rest of the day, Shouta sat next to his friend, letting the man lay his head on his shoulder. The sun was going down when Hizashi finally seemed to calm down.

The blond looked at their student, betrayal in his eyes. "Midoriya," He said, sounding broken. "What the fuck..?"

The kid's face turned red as he spouted out another round of apologies. For the thousandth time that schoolyear, Shouta wondered why he agreed to start teaching in the first place.
