Work Text:

Tamaki was awoken by the beeping of his phone. He groaned, then fished it off of the night stand. When he pushed the button on it, the sudden brightness made him narrow his eyes in discomfort. After his eyes got used to the light, he felt his lips tug in a small smile. There was a message in front of him, written by Hadou-san, telling him good luck.

However, deep in his heart, Tamaki felt disappointment. However, he chased the feeling away just as fast as it came. It was the first day of the school year as well after all. He couldn’t be that selfish and require his kouhai to have the worry for him as his first priority on the first day of his second year. Tamaki crawled out of bed, then padded towards the kitchen where he found his boyfriend standing in front of the stove, humming to himself.

Tamaki’s lips curved to a small smile. Despite him hadn’t graduated yet, U.A. let him and Mirio mowing in together – Tamaki couldn’t be more grateful for it. As if Mirio knew he was being watched, he turned his head back and gifted Tamaki with one of his sunshine smiles.

”Good morning, Tama!” He greeted his boyfriend as the blue haired boy walked up to him and wrapped his arms around his waist. Tamaki hid his face in his T-shirt with a small groan. ”Still nervous?” Mirio asked, slight worry in his voice.

”A bit,” Tamaki mumbled, feeling his insides twist once again. Mirio could understand – the day was Tamaki’s first day as an official pro after all.

”You have nothing to worry about, you know,” Mirio said with a reassuring smile. ”You’re going to work as Fat’s sidekick and that guy has been having a soft spot for you since day one.”

”That is why he takes every opportunity to make fun of me?” Tamaki asked pouting and Mirio laughed boisterously.

”Sadly, that is in the job description of a mentor.”

After they’d eaten their breakfast – Mirio made him Takoyaki, knowing that was one of his comfort foods – and Tamaki taking his hero costume on, they were standing in the door of their shared apartment.

”Have a good day at work!” Mirio said to his boyfriend, sniffing.

”Why are you crying?!” Tamaki asked panicking and in the next moment, he found himself in one of Mirio’s tightest hugs.

”I’m so proud of you, baby,” the blonde said, nuzzling his face to the shorter’s hair. As a result, Tamaki felt his ears heating up.

”T-thanks,” he mumbled after pulling back. Mirio gently grabbed his chin and after tilting his head up, kissed him lightly. ”Mirio!” Tamaki whined, feeling the blush creeping down on his neck.

After he had fled from their shared apartment, he felt his phone buzz in his pocket. He took it out and felt his chest get lighter immediately. Seeing the message – a picture of his dearly beloved underclassman with a thumbs up – he knew that everything would be okay.
