Chapter Text
Only the italicized text is considered essential, so if you don't want to read my ramblings, it's perfectly fine to skip this introduction. Thank you for picking up this fic regardless.
Please note that this work contains depictions of school violence and discrimination. If you are uncomfortable with these themes, it may be better for you to turn away. While there likely won't be extremely graphic gore, there will likely be instances of pain and injury. Only proceed if you are fine with reading this content.
June 21st, 2019 is the day that I decided I wanted to share this story.
It came to me in small bits and pieces at first; things I wanted to portray and represent, but without context. Over the summer I crafted the rest of the narrative in the free time I had during a summer program, and it started to become so much more than I originally imagined.
I initially attempted transforming this into a comic, but without the story fully mapped - and, as I've come to know now, written - it never felt quite right. I did not know where I was going with it, or where the story would be headed, even as I was drawing out the scaffolding to the narrative.
It was because of this that the comic silently failed behind the scenes, so if you're one of the people who tried following it then, that is why and I'm sorry. And I thank you for coming around this time, too.
While I intend to return to my original vision of a comic adaptation eventually, I see it's now clear that this is the best way to begin. I hope you will be satisfied with a written version for the time being, and I hope the story more than makes up for the hiccups during development.
With that being said, let's begin, shall we?
