Day Two: After School

Summary:

This takes place after Day One: Video Games, it has our favorite boys complaining to their two friends about their love life problems. Neither are aware of what is to come from those conversations.

Work Text:

It’s only been two days since the weirdness that had happened at Kou’s house and Sousuke is still slightly panicked about it all and what it could mean.

Knowing how dumb Kou is, it is probably nothing and he is overreacting. Though something about it seemed different, like he was acting like that purposely.

‘No’ Mitsuba thought, there was no way that Kou, his dumb (adorable) blond could think anything through that well. Given that day didn’t go very well for either of them; one was a hot flustered mess and the other was obvious to what he was doing.

Mitsuba couldn’t stop his mind from wandering to the moment in the kitchen when Kou ate the grains off his fingers that were from his face. His own face turned scarlet red at the mere idea of Kou’s smiling face as he did such a simple gesture was far too adorable.

Plus the cookies! That fact he made those cookies look like camera’s was perfect.

How can someone who is so socially obvious at times do something so sweet as that? Mitsuba has been finding himself thinking about all of the little things that Kou does for him more lately.

It was so bad today his teacher actually threw some paper at him to get his attention. As embarrassing as it was he was far more embarrassed at the fact he can’t stop thinking about him.

He threw himself onto a bench just on the edge of the courtyard, trying to get that stupid smile out of his mind and failing miserably.

He was going to lay there in self pity for a little while longer until something landed heavily on his stomach. Glancing down to notice it was a Creative writing book, which is strange because his book was at home so whose was it?

“Why so glum chum?” a familiar voice chirped. Tilting his head back to see it was Tsukasa looming over him, with his usual devious grin plastered on his face.

Reluctantly Mitsuba sits up making room from Tsukasa next to him, knowing his senior wouldn’t just leave him alone. Now the two are sitting on the bench not saying anything, both waiting for the other to say the first word.

That’s when MItsuba cracks, telling him everything that had happened the other day with Kou.

After Mitsuba finished his rambling he did feel a little bit lighter, getting it off of his chest but now he was confused on why he told Tsukasa of all people. Readying himself for Tsukasa to start making fun of him for sounding so pathetic and wimpy.

To his surprise he felt a hand patting the top of his head.

Tsukasa merely smiles at his friend hoping that it helps him to feel better about all of this, though Tsukasa isn’t the best at comforting people.

He and Mitsuba have been friends for two years now, they met in a historic literature class, Tsukasa of course starting the friendship by making fun of him. Anyone who knows Tsukasa knows he isn’t the emotional type of person, so the head pat was his best show of affection.

Mitsuba had seemed pretty down the last few days, but he had no idea it was about Kou.

Not gonna lie, Tsukasa thought those two were dating this time so hearing this kinda confused him. How could the two of them not be dating when they are always together, it made no sense to Tsukasa.

“Nene; why is it so hard to just say the words?” Kou whines to his old friend over a cup of coffee from their favorite cafe, head smashed against the table muffling his words.

Nene lightly chuckles at her friend's reaction, lightly patting him on the head in sympathy and understanding. Having been in the same position with Amane herself she understands painfully how it is not being able to voice your feelings.

After an hour and a half and over three cups of coffee Kou finally finishes his so-called tale of woe from the events from the other day. It would have taken less time if he didn’t stop every so often to make little side comments like how he took extra time to make camera shaped cookies.

Nene being the good friend she is, sat there and listened silently and patiently as Kou whined about it all. Finally getting it all off of his chest, releasing a sigh getting all of it out into the open all in hopes it would make him feel better.

The two share a look, laughing at how ridiculous the whole thing is and continuing to catch up with one another.

Once they part ways Nene finds herself thinking about everything Kou had said, trying to let it settle. The one thing that doesn’t make sense to her is why are they having this misunderstanding when they have been together since high school.

Wandering around lost in thought she catches sight of a familiar head of black hair and luminous amber eyes.

Sliding into the spot next to Tsukasa she gently nudges his shoulder letting him know it was her. His frown vanished and was replaced with his even present grin.

Tsukasa leaning against her as always enjoying Nene’s ever present warmth. Without saying anything for a few minutes just to relax and enjoy the other company.

Once they had both relaxed, Nene voiced the question she had about why Tsukasa looked upset earlier. The moment she had voiced the question his smile was gone and replaced with a confused expression when all he says is, “I thought they were dating this whole time.”

Nene’s eyes widen to saucers, because what are the odds that he could mean the same two people she was worried about?

“Are you talking about Mitsuba and Kou?” Nene questions timidly, incredibly curious of his answer. To her surprise his eyes go wide and he screams yes, throwing his arms into the air to make his response slightly more dramatic.

As the two share a look they make a silent pact to team up and try to get their two friends together, by any means necessary.
