Chapter Text
The first time Isaac Dillamond said “I love you” to his twin brother, the words were not spoken and they could not be heard.
They were in a synagogue, the same one that they had attended since birth, the same one that they had their bar mitzvah in and the same one their cousin had married in. Now it held his brother in a casket, his eyes closed. He looked… peaceful. Asleep. And embalming had not marred his features. He looked… natural.
But he also looked dead.
Very, very dead.
Along the casket was an open drawer for people to put in personal effects. He noticed pictures and notes and little trinkets had been put inside. Would one more mean anything?
In his hands Isaac held a piece of paper, a substitute for the voice that had been taken from him. On it were the words he never managed to say.
Abraham could not hear them, but then these were not the sort of words that could be heard. He couldn’t read them either. Isaac had written them anyways.
“I love you.”
So said the note in the coffin.
So said Isaac Dillamond to his lost twin.
