Work Text:
"hyung, i have a problem," jeongguk announces as he steps into seokjin's room. seokjin looks up from his phone, then immediately back down, groaning as his fingers stumble against the screen. "jesus, jeongguk-ah, at least knock," he complains. "i missed my combo."
"i have a problem, hyung," jeongguk repeats, ignoring his protests completely.
"yeah, i heard that the first time."
jeongguk merely sends seokjin a pout. he crumbles immediately. "alright, okay, don't give me that look. come tell hyung about your problem," jin says. jeongguk smiles gratefully at him and throws himself onto jin's bed. he takes a deep breath, lets it out, and...is silent.
"i thought you had a problem?" seokjin repeats, patting absentmindedly at jeongguk's head. he misses the top of his head and ends up stroking his ear awkwardly. the boy turns to face seokjin, pouting. "it's just..." jeongguk looks frustrated, picking at his cuticles. "it's yoongi-hyung." seokjin glances up in surprise at that. "did you two fight? you always get along so well, i'm surprised." jeongguk shakes his head quickly. "no, we didn't fight. it's just...he's so..." he trails off. there's a blush rising on his cheeks. seokjin puts his phone down, his curiosity fully piqued.
"well?" he prompts, after jeongguk has been silent for nearly a minute.
"he's just so pretty!" jeongguk says, rushed, and then groans and flops bonelessly back down to the blankets. seokjin stills, the words taking a moment to fully process, and then a grin splits his face. "oh my god," he says gleefully. "oh, jeonggukkie, do you have a crush?" jeongguk lifts his head to send a baleful glare at seokjin. "no," he snaps. "i do not have a crush. i'm just...jealous."
"jealous," seokjin repeats, deadpan.
"yes! i mean, it makes perfect sense, right? i do all this work to look nice, i work out, like, all the time and i do my hair and makeup, and i mean, i've got this emo look going and it works for me, right? and then yoongi-hyung just, like, exists, and he looks so good."
seokjin raises an eyebrow.
jeongguk shoves his face back into the pillow.
"yep," seokjin says. "definitely sounds like jealousy to me. not at all like a crush." jeongguk groans. "why don't you tell me exactly what you find so attractive about yoongi, jeongguk-ah? i mean, i can't help if you don't give me anything to work with." he can't fully keep the sarcasm out of his voice, but, good lord. this kid.
there's a long, long silence. seokjin is about to give up and go back to his game when jeongguk finally speaks up, voice muffled from where his mouth is still shoved against the pillow. "he's just...he's so pretty? like, his eyes are so pretty, and his skin glows all the time, and his hands are so big, and his thighs are so nice, and have you seen his nose? it's so cute, seokjin-hyung. and his mouth." jeongguk sounds genuinely upset. "it's so cute, and his lips are so pretty, and he smells so good-" he cuts himself off and lets out an agonized whine. "and he's not, you know, super muscly or anything but he's been working out a lot and. his chest, jin-hyung. his chest."
seokjin nods thoughtfully. "yes, i too think about min yoongi's chest all the time. in a purely jealousy-based sense," he says. jeongguk lifts his face from the pillow. his face is bright red and his mouth is all screwed up with embarassment. "jin-hyung," he says. his fists are clenched in the blanket. seokjin has to forcibly resist the urge to coo at him, mostly because he's a little scared that jeongguk would actually punch him. as it is, he can't resist ruffling jeongguk's hair. the boy looks upset, but he melts into jin's touch as soon as he scratches his fingers over jeongguk's scalp.
"jeongguk-ah," seokjin begins. "i don't mean to assume what you're feeling, but are you sure you don't have a crush on yoongi?" jeongguk sighs, snuggling closer to seokjin. "no," he says, a little sadly. "'m just jealous." seokjin hums, considering. "you know," he says, still running his hand through jeongguk's hair. "it wouldn't be bad if you had a crush on him. for what it's worth, i don't think he would be upset."
jeongguk sighs. "it's not just that he's attractive," he says softly. "he's so kind, and so patient with me. he works so hard, and he's so talented, he's so good with words and so caring. he makes me feel safe, jin-hyung."
"oh, jeongguk-ah," seokjin says, pulling the boy a little closer. "i like him a lot, hyung," jeongguk whispers, sounding a little bit teary. "that's okay, jeonggukkie. that's okay," seokjin assures. "i know it's scary. but yoongi loves you. sometimes i think he likes you the best of all of us. and you're right: he is always kind and patient with you. if you want to tell him, you don't have to worry about his reaction. he wouldn't be mad about it, or make fun of you." seokjin chuckles. "he's soft on you."
jeongguk sighs. "i know he wouldn't be mean," he says quietly. "i just...i don't want to be rejected. i know it's stupid, i should be able to handle it."
"it's not stupid. hey, i got rejected by this boy when i was nineteen and i really, no exaggeration, spent a straight week locked up in my room. i was so upset over it. i don't even remember his name now." seokjin sighs. "i know it's not the same. especially since you're living and working with yoongi. but you're both adults, and we've all gotten extraordinarily good at the whole 'communication' thing over the years, haven't we? it might be awkward and sad if it doesn't go how you want it to, but if anyone can work through it, you two can. i swear you can have whole conversations with just your eyes. it's creepy."
jeongguk lets out a wet chuckle. "thanks, hyung. somehow, i think you calling me creepy actually made me feel better?" seokjin snickers, finally reaching out to grab his phone. "it's a talent," he responds, opening up his game again. jeongguk doesn't say anything, just drops his head on seokjin's arm and quietly watches seokjin play.
.
so yeah. that whole conversation was at least in the top ten of 'most embarrassing moments of jeongguk's life,' a list on which yoongi features heavily. he wasn't involved with the number one incident (that had occurred while jeongguk was still in high school, and he would speak of it to no one,) but jeongguk had embarrassed himself around yoongi almost more times than he could count at this point. sometimes, when he's lying in bed at night, his brain plays a fun highlight reel of all those embarrassing moments. that usually results in him avoiding yoongi for a day, until yoongi finds him and demands to know why he's being ignored.
seokjin is right, yoongi is good at communicating. resolving arguments with yoongi can be intense; he likes to hold hands and maintain prolonged eye contact while they talk it out. that combined with yoongi's soft, serious voice and his overwhelming, genuine kindness can be a little much for jeongguk, whose preferred method of communication is joking about his problems and hoping no one calls him on it. still, it's just...yoongi. yoongi's care for others is one of the reasons why jeongguk likes him so much.
he's not sure when his crush on yoongi had actually started. he'd always liked yoongi, though at first he'd been so enamored with namjoon (and a little intimidated, a little awestruck by yoongi) that they hadn't talked much. however, as the years passed, yoongi had gone from a casual friend to one of jeongguk's favorite people in the entire world.
and then a little more.
he does remember the day he'd first wanted to kiss yoongi. it'd been a nothing day: no performances, no events, no awards won. jeongguk had been dancing alone in the practice room, extra hours spent trying to perfect a certain sequence of moves, and had thought to stop in at the genius lab afterwards. he'd wandered into the studio still sweaty and gross, but yoongi's face had lit up when he'd stepped inside anyways.
yoongi had played him a new track that he'd been working on. the song had reminded him of early spring mornings: cool breezes, pale yellow sun, frost melting to dew. it was airy and delicate and dreamy; it was beautiful, just like everything yoongi made. jeongguk had told him as much. yoongi had had a soft little smile on his face, his eyes turned down as he said quietly, "well, i was thinking of you when i made it." there had been a long, quiet moment, and then yoongi had looked up. "i'd like you to sing on it, if you wanted to."
jeongguk had wanted to, of course. that particular conversation had led to many long nights working on the song together. what had really stood out to him, though, had been yoongi's face when he'd looked up. there had been so much fondness in his eyes, so much gentle happiness engraved in the upturned corners of his mouth. he'd looked- stunningly beautiful, then, with the song he'd written for jeongguk still playing in the background.
jeongguk had never wanted to kiss someone as badly as he had then.
that had clearly snowballed, since jeongguk was now resorting to having stilted, awkward conversations with seokjin about how attractive yoongi was. he needs to get a handle on this crush, obviously. the problem is that he doesn't know how to do that when every time he sees yoongi his feelings just grow. it's the tiniest things, like yoongi running his hand through his hair or laughing under his breath at something on his phone or tucking his hands between his knees when he sleeps, that make this uncontrollable fondness bloom in jeongguk's chest. he feels almost overwhelmed sometimes, by how much he cares for yoongi: he's constantly in awe of how yoongi thinks, how he writes, how he makes music. yoongi is so strong, so smart and hard-working and kind, and jeongguk just- loves him.
maybe a bit more than a crush, then. (maybe jeongguk has been in love with yoongi for a good two years. whatever.)
it's fine. he's handling it. (he is not handling it. just yesterday he had woken yoongi up from a nap and yoongi had stretched out on the couch all sleepy with his shirt riding up and had made a soft little noise that was distinctly catlike and jeongguk had had to flee the room to calm down and make the blush fade from his cheeks.)
jeongguk lets out a loud groan. seokjin-hyung had given good advice, as much as he doesn't want to listen to it. really, the only way to solve this particular conundrum is to talk to yoongi about it, since his feelings don't seem to be fading. the thought of being rejected is terrifying, though. he knows yoongi would be kind about it, the way yoongi is kind about everything. still. he can't bear the thought of showing yoongi these overwhelming, messy feelings and yoongi rejecting them, even kindly. he thinks that maybe kindness would hurt more than a harsh rejection would. kindness means that yes, yoongi is exactly as wonderful as jeongguk thinks. kindness means that yoongi does love him - just not in the same way that jeongguk does. kindness means that yoongi will stay close, will support him, and jeongguk will slowly, painfully bleed this kind of love out until he can love yoongi in the same way that yoongi loves him. maybe jeongguk is a bit of a coward, but he's scared of yoongi's kindness.
so that conversation will have to wait for another day. for now, he will just mull over seokjin's words and attempt to act like a functioning human being around yoongi.
.
'mission: act like a functioning human being around yoongi' is failing miserably. jeongguk is a mature adult, okay, and he is fully willing to admit that he is a failure right now. he's been acting weird all day, and he knows it, but he can't stop acting weird. it's obvious enough that yoongi is noticing, too, which is extra mortifying. jeongguk keeps tripping over his words when he tries to talk to yoongi, blanking at inopportune moments and blushing every time yoongi pokes his tongue at the corner of his mouth. it's stupid, because it's just - yoongi. it's just yoongi, who he's known for years and has been more open with than probably any other person he knows.
but every time he catches sight of yoongi's face, the conversation with seokjin rushes back into his mind, and the embarrassment fills up his chest, and then he runs. actually telling someone else about his feelings has made them feel all the more real, and it doesn't help that every time he and yoongi are in the same room together seokjin inevitably appears and wiggles his eyebrows at them.
so jeongguk is running away from his problems. whatever. at least he can own up to it.
.
"jin-hyung," yoongi says, appearing in seokjin's doorway with a pout already fixed firmly on his face. "jeonggukkie is avoiding me." his voice skirts into a whine at the end of his sentence. seokjin swears. "my combo," he says. "do none of you know how to knock?"
"the door is open," yoongi says.
"that's beside the point!"
yoongi pointedly ignores him in favor of dropping down onto seokjin's bed, curling up into a ball. jin sighs. this is feeling uncomfortably familiar. "are you sure he's avoiding you?"
"yes! i walked into the kitchen earlier and he was halfway through his dinner, and when he saw me he just left the plate on the table and ran away. i didn't even get a chance to say anything. have you ever known jeongguk to just leave his food like that?"
seokjin sighs and puts his phone down, reaching out to hold yoongi's hand because he knows it calms yoongi down when he's upset. "you're usually pretty good at tracking him down," seokjin says. "have you tried that? or just texting him?"
"of course i tried. he just keeps disappearing. and he won't respond to my texts. i don't know what i did, jin-hyung." seokjin doesn't have to look at yoongi to know that his pout is intensifying with every word. "has he said anything to you? is he mad at me?" the opposite, actually, seokjin thinks wryly. out loud, he responds, "i...i don't think he's mad at you, yoongi-yah. really, i think everything could be cleared up if you two just had a conversation."
"how is that going to happen when he won't even be in the same room as me?" yoongi says quietly. "are you sure he's not mad at me? i don't want him to be upset...normally even if he's mad at me we end up talking it out in a few days. it's been almost a week, hyung."
seokjin sighs. "i'm sure, yoongi. listen, how about this? jeongguk just needs a push sometimes when it comes to actually communicating. i'll help you corner him." yoongi lifts his head, looking concerned. "that sounds threatening, jin-hyung," he says.
"it doesn't have to be if he comes willingly!" jin chirps. yoongi frowns. "i don't think you could actually physically force him to stay anywhere. i'm pretty sure he's stronger than you."
"that's offensive. have you seen my shoulders? besides, i have a few tricks up my sleeve. jeongguk won't stand a chance."
.
the 'tricks up his sleeve' are actually just namjoon. namjoon is pretty good for any tricky situations involving feelings, all things considered. he's smart and good with words, but most importantly, jeongguk adores him.
"you want me to guilt jeongguk-ah into talking to yoongi?" namjoon asks, brows furrowed. "or physically pin him down so he has no other choice," seokjin says. he sighs. "listen, namjoon-ah, they're both sad and jeongguk is refusing to talk to yoongi, and they keep coming to me and i can only take jeongguk waxing poetic about how pretty yoongi's eyes are and yoongi pouting about jeongguk ignoring him for so long!" he takes a deep breath. namjoon looks startled. "jeongguk told you about his crush on yoongi?"
"he told you?"
namjoon shakes his head. "no, i just...have eyes." he laughs a little. "he looks at yoongi-hyung like he's the moon. and yoongi looks at him like he's the whole universe." seokjin sighs. "i know. i can't take the pining anymore, namjoon. you have to help me." namjoon takes a long moment to consider, looking conflicted. "i don't want to force anything that would hurt their relationship, but...you're right. they are getting worse." he nods firmly. "alright. i'll help you."
.
they try guilting jeongguk first, as namjoon insists on saving physical restraint for a last resort. seokjin hovers in the doorway, out of sight from jeongguk so he doesn't look too suspiciou. he hears the sound of namjoon sitting down on the couch next to jeongguk, the quiet sounds of jeongguk tapping at his phone. then,
"hey, hyung." jeongguk's voice. quiet and sweet, as usual. a little questioning.
"hey, jeongguk-ah. i wanted to talk to you about something."
seokjin isn't even part of this conversation and he still feels nervous. those particular words from namjoon usually signal that a long and intense conversation is forthcoming. it usually goes like: namjoon pinpoints all of your faults with a few words, gives some gentle advice on how to improve, and tells you that he's proud of you, leaving you feeling uncomfortably seen. jeongguk knows that, too. seokjin can hear him suck in a breath.
"um. about what?" he asks nervously.
"well, i've noticed that you and yoongi-hyung haven't been talking much lately."
there's a sudden rustling, presumably jeongguk standing up, and seokjin pulls back, pressing himself against the wall next to the doorframe. "ah, hyung, i would love to talk to you, but i just remembered i have to go...feed my cat," he says with a desperate laugh.
"you don't have a cat, jeongguk-ah," namjoon says tiredly. "please sit down."
jeongguk sits down.
"jeongguk, you have to stop avoiding him. he's worried that you're upset with him."
"he is? you talked to him?" jeongguk's voice goes soft and worried.
namjoon hesitates. "i...have it on good authority," he says finally. "listen, jeongguk-ah, i love you both and i want you two to be happy. i know you mean a lot to each other. you're happier when you're together."
there's a faint rustling sound, and a faint, familiar sniff from jeongguk. seokjin can picture the gloss of unshed tears over his eyes. seokjin's chest aches at the sound. he desperately wishes he could go and hug jeongguk, stroke his hair and keep him from crying, but he knows namjoon is better for this conversation. he knows that namjoon will know exactly what to say, but that doesn't make it any easier to hear jeongguk cry. "i'm in love with him, hyung," jeongguk says quietly, his voice broken. seokjin takes a deep breath and steps away from the door, heading back towards his room, giving them their privacy.
.
namjoon stops by seokjin's room an hour later, looking resigned. "how did it go?" seokjin asks. namjoon sighs, running a hand over his face. "he's so sad, hyung," he says. "i want to help, but he's resolutely opposed to actually talking it out."
"you know what that means."
namjoon nods. "plan b, then." seokjin hadn't actually wanted to use plan b, but it looked like he had no choice. he and namjoon were just going to have to be the bigger people and do the sensible thing: lock yoongi and jeongguk in a closet together.
.
phase one of plan b (which really only has two phases: lure yoongi and jeongguk in, and lock the door) begins a few days later, when they all have a free day and namjoon and seokjin can keep the two locked in for as long as necessary without worrying about a schedule. it's surprisingly easy to lure them in; namjoon just tells jeongguk that he needs help cleaning up a broken bottle in The Closet. The Closet (capital letters necessary) is a black hole of miscellaneous clutter: cleaning supplies, canned food, unmatched socks, failed paintings that jeongguk has banished there as punishment, the remnants of namjoon's experiments with making his own wine, presents that jimin is trying to hide from taehyung...the list goes on. essentially, anything could be in The Closet, and anything can happen in The Closet. of course, there's also namjoon's track record with breakable objects, and so jeongguk follows him without question.
seokjin had thought that yoongi would be harder to convince, but as it turns out, all seokjin has to do is tell yoongi that he'll cook dinner for him if yoongi helps him search The Closet for seokjin's missing lyric notebook. yoongi grumbles a mildly exasperated, "why would it even be in there," but agrees to help him anyway.
and now, the plan begins in earnest. it goes smoothly at first: seokjin tugs yoongi down the hall and into The Closet, and they begin their supposed search. however as the minutes drag on, seokjin grows increasingly nervous. namjoon and jeongguk don't seem to be showing up, and no matter how hard seokjin strains his ears he can't hear the telltale sounds of their footsteps.
yoongi is just leaning back, sighing, "are you sure you left it here-" when namjoon and jeongguk appear. namjoon has a tight grip on jeongguk's wrist, and a bit of a frantic look in his eyes. "hyung, i was right in the middle of-" jeongguk is saying as they pass the doorway. then his eyes land on seokjin and yoongi, and he goes completely still. seokjin launches himself to his feet, laughing nervously as he darts past yoongi to join namjoon. together, they shove a still silent jeongguk into the room and quickly shut the door.
"wait, hyung!" jeongguk exclaims, a beat too late, and attempts to push back the door as seokjin is trying to close it. namjoon plants his shoulder into it, and there's a brief moment of panicked shoving before namjoon and seokjin gain the upper hand and manage to slam it shut. seokjin turns the lock quickly and calls "i'm sorry! but you two really need to talk! please don't kill us when we let you out!"
then he and namjoon make a break for the exit, the sounds of jeongguk pounding on the door fading behind them.
.
jeongguk sighs and slumps to the floor, burying his head in his knees and wrapping his arms around his legs. maybe if he sits here and pretends he's alone for long enough, yoongi will just ignore him.
"jeongguk-ah?"
of course. jeongguk wonders distantly why the universe seems to be against him. he chances a glance upwards and makes brief eye contact with yoongi. The Closet is dimly lit by a lightbulb mounted above the door, casting just enough light that jeongguk can see yoongi's features, faintly blurred by shadow. he's pretty as ever, even with the way concern is etched into every line of his face, and- yeah. jeongguk has seen that face too many times, but it still wrenches at his chest to see yoongi looking so upset. he sighs, dropping his face back to his knees.
"i'm sorry for avoiding you, hyung," he says, muffled.
"i'm not mad, jeonggukkie. i'm just...confused. did i do something wrong? if i did, i wish you would just tell me so that i can fix it."
"it's not your fault, hyung. it's all me. i'm sorry, i'm just...i'm just trying to figure something out, and being around you made it worse, and i didn't know how to deal with it except by running away."
"-oh." yoongi's voice is colored with hurt. jeongguk quickly reviews his last sentence, and jerks his head up. yoongi looks wounded, for a brief moment, before he manages to smooth the emotion out of his face. "shit, no, hyung, i didn't mean it like that. it's not - you didn't make it worse, i just couldn't stop thinking about it when i was around you." he scoots across the closet floor to grab yoongi's hand, even though his own is sweaty from nerves. "although, i can't stop thinking about it when i'm not around you, either," he says. "so it's not like it makes that much of a difference."
"can't you just tell me what's going on, gukkie? i don't...hyung's a little confused, here," yoongi says with a faint laugh.
"i'm sorry, i was trying to deal with it, i was trying not to let it affect our friendship-" jeongguk presses his face into yoongi's collarbone, unable to resist the closeness after a week of running from yoongi every chance he got. his stomach is swirling with anxiety, and his brain is all scrambled, thoughts leaping in a thousand different directions. he wants to tell yoongi (to finally get this weight off his chest, to be honest like yoongi is honest with him, to grab onto that little bit of hope that tells him that maybe yoongi feels the same way.) he doesn't want to tell yoongi (he's so fucking afraid, afraid of how they will change after this, afraid of that moment when yoongi pulls away and says 'i'm sorry, jeongguk-ah' softly, tender with jeongguk's heart even as he breaks it.)
he sits there a moment longer, soaking in the warmth from yoongi's skin, taking deep breaths. (yoongi always smells like cedar and incense, like the deepest, quietest parts of the woods where the rest of the world fades away.) unbidden, seokjin's words from a week ago spring into his head: if anyone can work it out, you two can. he takes a deep, shaky breath. yoongi runs his hands softly over his back, gentle touch skating over his spine and grounding him.
"i'm in love with you, hyung," jeongguk says, lips moving against yoongi's skin. he feels yoongi shudder hard under him, and then go absolutely still, his hands pausing in their sweep over jeongguk's ribs. he can hear the way yoongi's heart pounds.
"jeongguk," yoongi says, and his voice is desperate, breathy. there's something in it that jeongguk has never heard before. he pulls back from jeongguk, and jeongguk's heart drops. but yoongi just stops, a foot of space between them, his breath loud in the silence. "jeongguk-ah, look at me," he says, and jeongguk lifts his head reluctantly to meet yoongi's eyes.
his face looks nothing like how jeongguk expected it to. there's no soft apology, no rejection, just - confusion and desperation and hope. "you're, you're not joking, right? this isn't-" yoongi stops there, breathless. jeongguk stares. "why-why would i joke about this, hyung?"
"you're in love with me?" yoongi says, all disbelief. jeongguk looks away, his gaze landing on a bag of shrimp chips shoved into an already-packed shelf. the anthromorphized shrimp mascot stares back at him with soulless eyes. this is the worst moment of his life, probably, because yoongi's looking at him like that and he wants jeongguk to say it again, and -
"yes." jeongguk laughs a little bitterly. "have been for years, hyung."
yoongi's face clears, then, and jeongguk barely blinks before yoongi's hands are cupping his face, his fingers against jeongguk's cheeks. "i'm in love with you," he says, and jeongguk blanks completely.
"what. you...wait, what?"
yoongi laughs giddily, warm fingers still pressed to jeongguk's face. "jeongguk-ah," he says. "gguk-ah, i've been in love with you for years. i didn't want to tell you, i was...i didn't want you to feel pressured, i didn't want to be creepy." he sighs. "i didn't want to mess up our friendship. i'm in love with you, yeah, but i also just...love you, gguk-ah. it didn't matter to me if you didn't feel the same way, as long as i got to have you in my life somehow."
"hyung-hyung, i love you but c'mon, how could you not know i'm in love with you, i haven't exactly been subtle. i've wanted to kiss you for years, hyung, we could've been-"
he's cut off by yoongi touching his fingers to jeongguk's lips. jeongguk cuts off the word mid-syllable, throat going dry as the soft pads of yoongi's fingers ghost over his open lips. "jeongguk-ah," he says quietly, a pretty smile on his face. "can i kiss you, then?" jeongguk has just enough presence of mind to let out a huff. "of course, hyung," he says, and he barely gets the sentence out before yoongi is swooping down to press a playful kiss to his lips, replacing the pressure of his fingers.
jeongguk can't help grinning into the kiss, chest swelling with warmth. they kiss soft and fond for a few long moments before pulling back to breathe, jeongguk dropping his head down to yoongi's shoulder to hide his blush. "hyung, i...i'm sorry i didn't tell you earlier. i'm sorry i avoided you. i just...i told jin-hyung that i liked you a week ago, and ever since then i couldn't stop thinking about how pretty you were and how much i liked you every time i saw you, and..." he trails off, face flaming. "anyways. sorry for avoiding you. i'm actually glad jin-hyung and namjoon-hyung locked us in this closet."
yoongi rasps a laugh. "wait, hold on," he says. "hold on, you told jin-hyung about your crush on me before you told me? is that why he's been giving me weird looks all week?" jeongguk whines, embarrassed. "i had to tell someone! i almost told namjoon-hyung, but i knew he'd make me feel guilty enough to actually tell you."
yoongi snickers. "that sounds about right. i wish you had told him. we could've started kissing a week earlier." jeongguk laughs, fingers tightening around yoongi's. "well, we are locked in this closet for the foreseeable future," he begins. "might as well make up for lost time."
yoongi leans back to look at jeongguk, a smirk on his face. "ah, jeon jeongguk, you just want to get into my pants, don't you?"
"you caught me," jeongguk replies, letting his eyes scan exaggeratedly over yoongi's body. he's gratified to see a faint pink coloring yoongi's cheeks, and he reaches out to poke them, giggling. "seriously, though," he says. "what better way to get revenge on jin-hyung and namjoon-hyung than by making them walk in on us making out?" yoongi tilts his head, pretending to consider. "i don't know," he says, "we could put jelly on their doorknobs."
"i'm starting to think you don't want to make out with me," jeongguk pouts. yoongi laughs and leans forward again, kissing the corner of his mouth. "ah, you never need to worry about that, baby," he murmurs, and jeongguk shivers at the pet name. "prove it, then," he replies, aiming for teasing but voice too breathy to achieve it. yoongi flushes and leans forward to oblige.
.
it's nearly fifteen minutes later when namjoon and seokjin knock on the door. "we're going to unlock the door now, please don't attack us," seokjin calls. he unlocks the door and swings it open cautiously. light spills into the room, illuminating the figures of yoongi and jeongguk. seokjin gets an eyeful of jeongguk's shirtless body, now pressed close against yoongi, whose hands are gripping at his ass. "oh, jesus," seokjin says, turning away as fast as he can. namjoon makes a questioning noise and peers over his shoulder. "oh my god. alright, they've worked their shit out," he says, shutting the door again quickly. he shares a brief, wide-eyed look with seokjin before rubbing a weary hand over his forehead. "they're going to be insufferable now," he groans, and strides away to the sounds of yoongi and jungkook laughing behind the door.
"you're welcome!" seokjin calls through the door, and follows after namjoon. they high-five halfway down the hall, and seokjin says, "see? we should've started with plan b. efficient and effective." he gives namjoon a considering look. "hey, maybe i should lock you in there with jimin sometime," he says.
"kim seokjin, don't you dare-"
