Keigo sat at his dining table filling out paperwork that he did not finish. All of it was just tedious legal stuff. It still hurt his head but needed to be done.
“Papa,” said his 5 year old daughter ask as she paused from her picture of a campfire.
“Yes baby bird,” Hawks said smiling, glad he had a distraction from his paperwork
“Who is my mommy,” Hotaru asked
Hawks sighed and force his lips into a smile. He knew this question would be eventually asked. Why did it have to be this soon though?
“You don’t have a mommy dove,” he responded after a minute. He hoped she would drop the question, but he could only be so lucky.
“Do I have an other Daddy? My friend Sakurachan has two dads. Do I?”
God at times like these he wish he could tell her. He wish she knew him. Sure he was a villain, but they would love each other as much as he loves them.
He shook his head knowing he shouldn’t wish for things like that. He knew it couldn’t and shouldn’t happen even if it could.
“You have a daddy,” he responds after another big sigh, “but he is dead, so he’s not around anymore. You would have liked him,”
“Would he have liked me?” Hotaru ask
Keigo was taken aback by her question. Sure he thought about it before, but what would Touya thought? He would have love her sass, it was exactly like his. Her curiosity would have annoyed him sure, but Keigo was sure it would have been endearing annoying than actually annoying annoying. Keigo knew Dabi would have been weak for her smile and her puppy dog eyes (seriously those things should be illegal). Dabi would rudely (charmingly) smirk and point out that Hotaru was just as helpful as him.
“Your dad would have love you,” he finally answers a little teary eye.
“Ok,” is all Hotaru says and goes back to her coloring.

“Papa,” Hotaru says
“Yes baby bird?” Keigo responded
“What was dad’s name?”
Keigo turns to his ten year old. He was a little surprised because they only talked about Touya a few times over the years. She was fiddling with her hair that now reach half way down her ribs. She was looking down at her combat boots. Her lips pinch together.
“Why do you ask?”
“I just realized I don’t know his name.” She said
“Legally I can’t tell you his name, but I don’t see the harm in telling you his first name,”
“Legally?” She said surprised
“Yeah,” shit he slipped up “ Your dad got into bit of trouble. But like I said I don’t see a reason why I can’t tell you his first name,”
“What was it?”
“Touya,” Keigo finally said

Takami Hotaru is one of the hardest working people you would ever meet. However, she was one of the biggest hot messes you would ever meet.
Currently she was running around her house with a peice of toast in he mouth. Her shirt only on one through one of her arms. One shoe tied and the other one wasn’t fully lace and her hair was unruly . She only had 20 minutes to catch the train... which was 25 minute walk away form her house.
It wasn’t her fault though! She was too nervous to sleep and slept through her alarm... and her second. And her third and her fifth. But that wasn’t the point!
10 minutes later she looked presentable to take her test. Sure she could have taken the recommendations, but she wanted to do it on her merit. She didn’t want anybody to say she was there because her papa was the number 2 hero.
She had a million questions and worries. Would she forget everything she studied? Would she fail the practical? Would she make it in? Would she screw up and freeze? If she made it in what class would she be in? All those little questions were quiet compare to one ringing loudly in her head.
“Papa, would dad be proud of me for trying for UA?”
Her father chuckled loudly from the dining room table where he was enjoying his breakfast.
“Honestly?” he asked
“Honestly,” she responded
“He wouldn’t like it. Hell he would probably hate it.”
What?!?!? She didn’t expect that response. Maybe a not really, but not as strong as hate.
“Why do you say that?” She asked curiosity replacing her need to sprint to the train station.
“Like I told you before he wasn’t the best person. He had umm.. certain opinions on society.” Her Papa responded and after a spoonful of cereal “you better go. You’ll need to be faster than me to catch that train.”

“What did Dad do?” Hotaru asked
“Why do you ask?” Keigo stopped his jumping and his smile faulted, only for a second.
After opening her acceptance letter Hotaru was over the moon- no she was over Pluto. She was excited when she saw the hologram of principle Aizawa. She then felt a pool of dread down in the pits of her stomach. Would she have to train to be against people like dad? What kind of people were like dad. Sure she knew he wasn’t good, but was he a villain?
“I just want to know,” she asked with to wide of a smile to be genuine.
“I guess you should know,” Keigo deeply sighed and rubbed his eyes. His smile dropped and his lips went into a straight line. “At least have some idea. You not a little girl anymore,” Keigo sat down on the couch and pat the spot next to him.
Hotaru smile drop and joined her Papa. For once in her life she realized that there was something way more mysterious and dark.
“I can’t tell you everything,” Her Papa started “ not legally. It was apart of the deal your dad and I made with the government. He was a bad person. I’m not going to say otherwise. He was mess up. I mean mess up things happen to him and he wanted revenge. It didn’t make what he did right. Not even close. I slowly became friends with him and quickly after that I fell in love.”

Right before Hotaru left for her first day of UA she and her Papa were eating breakfast together. Her heart was in her throat and her stomach felt like it sunk to her feet. For heaven’s sakes her homeroom teacher Mindblank. Sure he wasn’t famous since he was an underground hero. He was still a badass and she has admire him since he learn of him.
However another thing plague her mind. It has since she was accepted to UA. How did I Papa and her dad meet? It wasn’t like they wear co workers like she thought when she was younger. It could be possible they knew each other for a long time. But how did they meet?
“Ummm,” she started out nervously
“Yeah love dove,” her Papa said with his signature smile
“How did you and dad meet?”
“Legally-,”
“Legally,” she said while half laughing
Her Papa smirk back at her, hold back a laugh, “Yeah legally I first met him on the battle field back when All might first retired,”
“What?”’ She said startle, but then she shakes her head, “we both know what legally means so when did you actually meet him,” she responded with a hint of snark.
“When we were no more 9. Then he disappeared when we were about 18. Then I meet him again doing some undercover work. That I legally did not do.” He gave her a wink and she almost snorted out her apple juice “Though I did not know it was him till he told me when he left me to die, but I digress,”
“Im sorry what?!?” She said almost spitting out her apple juice this time.
“You better go,” Keigo said when he looked at the clock, “ You don’t want to be late on your first day.

“Is dad really dead?” Hotaru asked during their dinner after she won her first year sports festival.
Keigo almost spat out his chicken, but quickly regain his composure.
“Legally,” he started with an airy laugh.
“Papa I know what legally means,” Hotaru said with a smile
“Legally yes, he is dead,”
“But what does that really means?” She replied
“To everyone that it matters your dad is dead, and that includes us,”

Hotaru was home on the weekend to spend time with her papa. She was lazily relaxing on the couch while she waited for her papa to finish changing and showering from his patrol.
She heard a knock on the door and then a few seconds later a ring. She quickly got up form the couch and open the door.
When she open it she was face to face with a man she has never met. He was around her papa’s age. His turquoise eyes met hers in a stare that was surprisingly cautious despite the confident way he held himself. One of the things she first notice was bits of skin where a shade or two darker than the rest of his skin. He had longish snow white hair. He was lanky but had a bit of muscle.
“Who are you and what do you want,” she said it probably with a little more snark and sass than she should have, but who would she be is she wasn’t full of attitude.
The man smirk at her response and slightly shook her head.
“ Well legally-,”
“Legally,” she interrupted
The man narrow his eyes slightly in annoyance, and then just so slightly smiled.
“Im supposed to be 6 feet in the ground, but I’m Dabi or Touya Todoroki.” He sighed and looked directly into Hotaru’s eyes “Or to you well, I’m your dear old dad.”
Hotaru blankly looked back at the man that said that was her father. Her mouth drops to the ground and she drops her phone. She was to shocked to say anything.
“So,” he said smugly “where is the bird?”
