Work Text:

taehyungs frown settled down as he finally got taehi to stop crying. that kid cried more than her body could probably produce. he had even considered checking up on her health in case she had lost too much of her water supplies with crying constantly. but if you would look at her now, the paci snug between her lips, her eyes closed and her face squished up on taehyungs chest you would never even dare to think of her as a little daredevil. her looks were so deceiving, sometimes even taehyung had struggles.

but then again, she probably got it from him. the cries when wanting attention, the need to always have someone around, the pang of jealousy whenever someone dared to steal her spotlight.. yeah, she most probably got that from him. jeongguk was a whole different story. he was the complete opposite, he had been ever since they first met. jeongguk was quiet, calm, sweet. all the traits that seemed to have missed taehyung somehow. he was like the soft salvation of their relationship. taehyung could cry hours on end about anything (most probably because he had yet again finished watching hos favourite series he would end up watching all over again) and jeongguk would let him. he wouldn't budge at all. almost as if he had been ready for all this ever since he was born, as if everything that came his way was nothing but a poof of air he didn't even struggle with the slightest.

weird, huh? maybe the saying 'opposites attract' really does have a bit of truth to it. especially considering how they even met. there were stories they'd tell their kids when they were older. stories that sounded so clichè you could vomit by just hearing them. it was so cheesy but so them. that sounds even more cheesy, doesn't it? probably, but they live for it (and so should you). and sometimes taehyung couldn't help but remember that he didn't giggle at a number one ceo falling down the stairs. nope, he giggled at a 13 year old pimple-faced jeongguk that had his nose stuck in books so deeply, taehyung had to wonder if he could still breathe with all the paper in his face.

the school sweetheart taehyung didn't give anyone a second glance unless they either were his friends or he had to take a second look at their hideous presence. jeongguk was different, though. taehyung would have given him all the second glances he had for the rest of his life and as corny as that may sound: it was just as true. the little pimple face with the huge glasses that threatened to fall off everytime he blinked had taehyung wrapped around his finger with not two but only one gaze. perhaps taehyung had a thing for knowing who'd become one of the most successful and hottest ceo's there were.

and all those thoughts came back to him right as the soft snoring of the devil on his arms rang in his ears and the jingling of the oh-so-familiar keys appeared. it was like a melody he could recall anytime. he knew exactly how jeongguk twisted the doorknob everytime he came home, knew how he would take off his shoes and where he'd put them. how he would curse when dropping his keys everytime he tried to balance them beneath his chin while he struggled to take off his coat. everything jeongguk did had a routine and it was printed into taehyungs head.

the moment the doorknob was twisted, the shoes were put down, the keys stuck between his chin and his neck and his hands on the collar of his coat, taehyung only had to count down from five until-

"fuck this shit-", jeongguk cursed quietly, trying not to be too loud. he was well aware that everyone was supposed to be sleeping by now and if he woke someone up his husband would fry his balls in the morning.

taehyung had to bite back a giggle at how predictable his husband was and adjusted the bundle on his arm before he got up from the comfortable cushion he was sitting on. he hummed as he leaned onto the wall, his gaze as knowing as always. "you need assistance?"

jeongguk glared over at him at the teasing tone in his voice before sighing. "yes. i very much do.", he nodded and let out a small huff as he handed him the keys instead while now taking off his coat successfully. they always did this. everytime.

"it's not like we do this every night.", the elder chuckled lowly and put the keys down onto the cupboard next to him where they always belonged. he had it in mind ever since jeongguk once let out a yelp at five am when he couldn't find his keys on the cupboard until taehyung reminded him that he had put them on the cupboard on the other side.

jeongguk sighed. "sadly.. we do. because i can't seem to actually do something right.", he mumbled and looked over at him, his gaze now way softer. taehyung cooed at him and squished his cheeks.

"how about you don't come home pissy and kiss me first?", he giggled and leaned up to smooch jeongguks lips. "i managed to make taehi fall asleep, too. so no more work for either of us."

"and what about jiwoo and yejoon?", jeongguk asked and ruffled taehyungs hair as he walked past him to simply plop down onto the couch. he almost let out a groan at how good it felt to finally lay down and relax.

"they didn't even have the energy to complain. their school trips were tiring i guess.", taehyung giggled and was quick to put taehi into the little crib in her way too purple room she had to share with her twin brother taegguk. he quickly closed the door behind him and looked back over into the living room.

jeongguk smiled. "we should send them onto trips more often.", he sighed and looked over at taehyung, his hand reaching out for him dramatically. the blonde rolled his eyes before pouncing jeongguk on the couch, dropping his body on top of his. "i agree."

they both let out a sigh at the same time, even their tones matched. they looked at each other for a moment before bursting out into laughter. it was honestly just beautiful that such little things still seemed to get to them so much. they were still the little kids they were.

"oh god. why are we like this?", jeongguk asked, brushing his hair out of his face as he looked up at taehyung, cupping his cheeks. "we're acting like teens, eventhough we're in our mid-thirties.."

taehyung cringed. "ugh, can you not say that? dont make me feel even older.", he rolled his eyes and punched his chest. "shut up.", he huffed as his cheeks got squished between jeongguks huge, cold hands. the younger giggled at that and kissed him.

"sorry. you're right. let's.. not talk about the time where i certainly did not know how to act normally.", he gagged and made a face. now it was taehyungs turn to giggle. "no? you don't wanna talk about the times where you used to carry your camera around every step of the way and made up excuses to take pictures of m-"

jeongguk huffed and covered his mouth. "don't.", he raised an eyebrow. "i.. i still don't have any explanations for why i was acting that way so please just.. don't talk about it-"

for him there was absolutely no explanation on earth for why he acted the way he did. for one year straight. all he could think of was the fact that taehyung had been a literal god back then, which he still was, and jeongguk felt intoxicated everytime they met.

taehyung tried to push his hand off of his mouth. "come ooon, our high school times were adorable as fuck.", he insisted and looked down at him with a smile. "eventhough you were a pimple-faced nerd."

jeongguk gasped in mock offense as he stared up at him. "excuse you? not everyone was blessed with eternal youth and beauty at the age of 10.", he huffed. "you had your glow up as soon as you came out of your mothers womb. and i had to pray for mine every summer."

taehyung cooed. "but.. yours was a game changer. everyone was used to me being pretty, but seeing you being hot was like.. boom. you almost made it onto the cover of our school magazine that time.", he said and booped his nose.

jeongguk sighed and rolled his eyes as he shook his head at the elders words. talking back was no use now.. now he had taehyung hooked up on their teenage years and there was no going back.

"do you remember the first time we met?", he heard the soft voice of his husbands voice before looking up at him, opening his eyes to admire the sight he had on top of him. it took him some time to register the question before he let out an embarrassed whine, his arm coming up to cover his face.

"TAEHYUNG, god, please don't remind me-", he wailed in distress and shook his head while taehyung was laughing his ass off.

__

"i got tickets for it.", young taehyung giggled, his strawberry boba in his hand that he had yet again received from one of his (many) secret admirers. he didn't like any of them but why refuse such an offer? "but i don't know who to go with."

jimin hummed. "how about jinhyun?", he teased as he watched taehyung cringe up at the name. "no?"

"jinhyun? urgh, he's so weird. isn't he like.. straight?", taehyung frowned and took another sip of his drink. he had to remember that not everyone who is weird is straight. but everyone who is straight is weird.

"he's.. i dont even know-", jimin shrugged and crossed his arms. "but why are you so god damn picky? you have the whole school at your feet and you still decide to search for the love of your life. have some fun.", he flicked his chin.

taehyung whined. "i have the whole world of uglies at my feet, yes. i have almost lost hope to find someone of my interest here and this is the biggest school in whole seoul??", he pouted.

jimin sighed and scratched the back of his neck. he couldn't really say anything now. it was indeed true somehow. the school didn't really consist of beauties, except taehyung of course. "i'm sure you'll eventually.. find someone."

"oh wow, how enthusiastic you sound. maybe i'll just die a virgin.", the taller rolled his eyes and popped the pearls in his mouth. he opened his mouth to continue nagging but a loud thud made him jump. both of their heads snapped towards the stairs as they examined the boy whose books just fell.. well.. it looked like the entire boy just fell.

jimin was already gasping behind him but taehyung couldnt even realize what he had just seen. beauty. in this school. he had finally summoned someone worth his time. he shook himself out of his trance and rolled his eyes at the laughing audience that was crowded around the boy, telling him that this couldn't have been an accident at all.

he slowly walked up to him, through the people before he crouched down to his level, ignoring the murmurs behind him. there had been so many stumbles down the stairs and taehyung never even looked at them for longer than a second to see how they landed.

but this time it was different. he'd watch him fall all over again. and again. and again. because he was gorgeous even when falling. "you.. okay?", taehyung asked, a little giggle making it past his lips as he saw the surprised look on the boys face, the huge doe eyes staring into his soul.

the boy didn't move a muscle as taehyung talked to him, only continuing to stare at him. taehyung looked back down at him, waiting patiently for him to answer him. he pursed his lips and blushed a little, eventhough he normally enjoyed being stared at. "uhm.. can you.. understand me?"

nothing moved. it was like the boy was frozen while taehyung was rather confused than frozen. he bit his lip and looked down at his books, which he then decided to pick up and gather for the boy in case he was traumatized. "you're scarying me.."

his attempts to talk to him were totally useless. it was as if the boy never even talked his language in the first place. did he have something on his face? he pouted and suddenly noticed the little patch beneath the boys curls. "oh shit- you're bleeding.", he gasped and put his cup down.

the smaller boy tilted his head, the first movement he had ever done since taehyung had started talking to him. "do i scare you?", taehyung asked and extended his arm to him.

for him it seemed like the boy was totally out of it. but for the other it was as if he had just been blessed by an angel. an angel he had been waiting for all his life. an angel that smelled like strawberry and had lip gloss on. and an angel that was actually talking to him and wanting him to take his hand. had he died? was this finally heaven?

"hi.", he croaked out, finally finding his voice again as his eyes never left the others face. he gulped and looked down at his hand shortly, his head buzzing like crazy. the giggle that he earned for his quirkiness was like a salvation for his soul.

"uhm.. hi. i'm.. glad you're not mute. i was scared you were deaf..", taehyung mumbled and still waited for him to take his hand. the boy then did take his hand as he helped him up, watching the blush appear on his cheeks.

he gave him back his books and smiled at him. he picked his cup back up and took a sip. "do you-"

he stopped talking as he felt his hand losing the grip on the others, the boy bowing to him before running off, stumbling over his own feet. taehyung looked after him, not knowing what he just did. he looked back at jimin and blinked to which the boy just shrugged.

"oh my gooood.", jeongguk wailed as the memory made its way back into his subconsciousness. taehyung was giggling his ass off while he was dying of embarrassment.

taehyung chuckled. "i thought you were mentally injured-", he wheezed. "i was so scared i traumatized you for real-"

jeongguk whined and threw his head back into the pillow. "shut uuuup. i just didnt know how to act with a fucking angel in front of me."

taehyung smirked. "come on, i wasnt even that good-looking back then.", he pouted and crossed his arms.

"uhm..", jeongguk raised an eyebrow. "are you serious? you were the face of the school.", he insisted and rolled his eyes at him. taehyung snorted and shook his head.

"you blinded me with your beauty everytime."

"just like when we met in the library again?", he teased and winked at him, to which jeongguk let out an agonized groan.

__

taehyung had been thinking about the incident non-stop. and he didn't even know his name, he had never seen him before. he only had a face to remember him by and he hoped he'd see him somehow. the school was huge and there were more than thousands of students here, no wonder they had never met before. but it was bothering him.

he moved the straw in his new boba tea he had gotten from someone else this time, poking the pearls inside it as his eyes scanned the library he and jimin were 'studying' in. the boy pouted and heard the rustling of jimins bag as he rummaged inside it, desperately trying to find his chemistry book. "ugh, i cant find it."

taehyung looked over at him and raised an eyebrow. "do you want me to take a look if they have the same exemplar in here?", he asked, tired of hearing jimin curse all the time. his small friend nodded and blew him a kiss. "yes, you're an angel."

taehyung tsked and chuckled as he got up, letting his boba stay on the desk. he walked through the aisles of the library, searching for the right theme of books. he finally got to the science books and let out a deep sigh as he saw the books dedicated for their grade. he smiled and reached out for the book as soon as he saw it, his hand flinching back as it touched another one. he looked over and immediately put on a bright smile as he saw the boy from a week ago.

"hi! i haven't seen you at all.", he gasped and tilted his head as he looked at him. "do you feel better? you hit your head pretty b..adly? are you.. listening to me?", he asked and noticed the change of demeanor in the boys face. he bit his lip and scratched the back of his neck.

"do i scare you?"

yes. taehyung indeed scared jeongguk. he was way too gorgeous for his mind to register and it scared him to actually breathe next to him. he was scared he was dirtying his presence by standing there. and now his hand felt more blessed than it had ever felt before.

he still didn't have any words to say but he was glad taehyung continued talking. he adored his voice.. he could fall asleep to it.

"i hope not. i'm actually really nice.", he giggled and looked over at the book they both wanted. "but why are you going to this one? aren't you like.. two grades below me?", he asked.

jeongguk gaped at him and gulped down the lump in his throat as he tried to not choke on his air. he couldn't do anything but nod to his question so he wouldnt seem like he wasn't listening to him and taehyung bored him.

taehyung smiled. "i assume you're really smart then.", he said and grabbed the book. "so.. who gets it? do you want it?", he asked and tried to hand it over to him but jeongguk immediately jumped back. he frowned and looked down as he pulled the book back to his chest.

"w-wait there's a b-"

/thud/.

and there he went. falling all over again. it seemed like he couldn't do anything but fall when taehyung was around him. he scrambled to get back up before gathering his things in his arms and turning around to waddle off.

he would surely cry over this at night.

__

taehyung smirked. "maybe you have a thing for falling for me.", he teased and earned himself a pinch on the thigh. he yelped and flicked his chin for it.

jeongguk rolled his eyes. "why are there only. embarrassing stories about me? it's not fair.", he mumbled and looked at him.

"well, because i wasn't the quirky one in our relationship.", the other smiled and fixed jeongguks dressshirt he still had on. "but you were adorable.."

"adorable? was i adorable when we were both waiting for the bus back then?", he asked with a huff as he glared up at him.

"more than just that."

__

taehyung was playing with the strawberry boba he had almost finished. he messed with the straw again and sighed deeply as he jammed to his favourite tunes that were ringing in his ears through his headphones. with the tunes the time went past way quicker. he pursed his lips and tapped his foot onto the concrete with the beat of his song.

he shortly glanced over at the people standing there and let out a little gasp as he saw his favourite face. he smiled and ripped his earbuds out as he scooted over to him. "hi.", he said and looked at him, watching him tense up.

jeongguk had been praying for taehyung not to notice him because he didn't want to embarrass himself again. he bowed to him and played with the edge of his book he was holding. "hi."

taehyung giggled. "i'm taehyung, by the way. we didn't.. really have time to talk at all.", he mumbled and shrugged. jeongguk blushed.

"i know. everyone does.", he said quietly and scratched the back of his neck. "i'm jeongguk."

taehyung beamed as he noticed that jeongguk was finally warming up to him. "i like your name. it sounds really good.", he giggled. "which bus are you waiting for?"

jeongguk hummed. "uh.. for the one that drives to the downtown.", he said and shrugged slightly. his face was probably as red as it possibly could be by now.

the elder cooed. "yeah? i'm waiting for the one that goes the other direction.", he pouted. "maybe we'll go with the same bus someday.", he huffed and shook the pearls inside his cup.

jeongguk nodded. "yup..", he hummed and turned the book inside his hands. he had almost finished it. taehyung smiled. "what kind of book are you reading?", he asked, eventhough he despised books.. dearly.

jeongguks eyes lit up at the question. that was probably the first time someone was actually interested in his books. "o-oh.. uhm- its a really good novel about a-"

"nobody fucking cares, jeongguk.", a group of kids laughed and eyed the younger. taehyung glanced over at them, some of them were still caught up in laughing and some were already done with it.

"shut the fuck up.", he growled before turning back to jeongguk, successfully shutting them up. his gaze softened again as his expression changed. "sorry, i had to put them back into their place."

jeongguk was still gaping at him. "i- no.. its.. okay. i'm used to it anyway.", he mumbled. he looked over at the street and saw his bus stopping in front of him. he pouted. "oh.. uhm.. that's my call."

taehyung sighed and looked back too. "well, it was nice talking to you.", he smiled and looked down at him. "i hope we can talk again.", he confessed.

jeongguk smiled back and nodded eagerly. "y-yeah-", he cleared his throat and fixed the backpack on his shoulders before bowing again. he had a hard time his eyes off of his face as he forced himself to start moving towards his bus. he couldn't help but look back at him.

taehyung glanced over his shoulder and waved shortly with an attractive smile on his lips that took jeongguks heart for a second and crushed it. the boy gulped and didn't notice the slight bulp in the road that was in his way since his eyes were still focused on taehyung.

the others eyes widened as soon as he noticed and he turned around to extend his hand for him, but he was.. already down on the ground. he bit his lip and opened his mouth to ask him if he was okay but-

jeongguk was already scrambling to get up, not wanting to embarrass himself with staying down on the ground. and possibly missing his bus. he shook his head and gulped as he looked back at taehyung. "i- i'm fine.", he mumbled quickly before he continued his way, making sure to look at what was in his way..

taehyung closed his mouth again and looked after him, a soft sigh leaving his mouth as he shook his head. "this kid.."

__

taehyung wheezed. "you were soooo cute. i still laugh about it to this day.", he insisted while his fingers were poking around on his cheeks. he could basically feel the embarrassment radiating off his cheeks by now.

"shut up. do you know how many bruises i got in a matter of.. 2 weeks? my mom was scared i was getting abused in school but my only excuse was that i'm clumsy.", he rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. "its not fair. you're a danger to me."

taehyung huffed. "please, you just couldn't get your eyes off of me. why is that my fault?", he asked and furrowed his brows.

"because you're gorgeous!"

"i'm not."

"you are."

"okay, maybe a little."

"just let me live.", jeongguk groaned and let out a yawn as he stretched out his limbs fully. "nothing is worse than me dropping my love letter on the last day before you left school."

taehyung hummed. "i feel like that's the best one.."

__

it was indeed the best memory and probably the one that influenced both of their lifes the most.

it was taehyungs last day at high school and he would soon move to another school. jeongguk on the other hand still had two more years to go and that bothered him every day and night. he hated it. who should he fall the stairs down for now? who would smell like strawberry and fill his ears with giggles now and then? right. nobody.

because taehyung would be gone. and they hadn't even exchanged numbers yet. they barely.. talked. jeongguk always avoided him. but he didn't actually want to. he did it unintentionally because his pride was hurting with everytime he fell when he was around taehyung. but he would miss it. he would miss his bleeding knees everytime they met.

so there he was, a small paper that he still hadn't finished in his hand, his fingers fiddling with it. the ceremony of dismissing the last grade was over and basically all that was now done were the friendly goodbyes and hugs of those that would be missed. and taehyung basically had the entire school around him, which made jeongguk nervous to approach him since he wouldnt even notice him, would he?

but oh, was he wrong. he was the first one taehyung noticed as he was squirming around 5 feet away from all the crowded people that were surrounding him. taehyungs bright smile made him weak in his knees from where he was standing and he couldn't help but walk back when he noticed him walking towards him.

the elder chuckled as his behaviour, leaving everyone else behind him. he strutted over to him and left jeongguk breathless. "hi, were you planning on coming to me? i'm sorry about all those people.. they're.. clingy.", he pouted.

jeongguk shrugged it off and tried to push the paper back into his pocket, not noticing it falling down beside him. taehyung didn't seem to notice either and continued smiling at him. "i'm pretty sad that i'll be leaving today.. i wonder if i'll ever get back here.", he mumbled and looked at him.

"yeah..", jeongguk said and pushed his glasses up as he bit his lip. "uhm.. i just.. wanted to say goodbye.", he mumbled shyly, eventhough he wanted to do way more than that. taehyung giggled.

"thank you. i'm sure you're one of the people that i'll miss.", he promised and patted his shoulder. the two of them had a moment of their own, simply just looking at each other, until the honk of a car interrupted them. taehyung flinched and loooed over to see his mothers car. "oh, that's my mom.", he said.

jeongguks heart broke at the realization that taehyung would be leaving so soon and he nodded. "o-okay-", he stuttered and scratched the back of his neck. "uhm.. i hope you- like your new school..", he sighed deeply and smiled at him weakly.

taehyung immediately returned the smile and pulled him into a hug. "i'm sure i will. and you gotta make sure you survive your last two years as well. if you want i can beat people up for you.", he giggled.

jeongguk whined. "don't say that. i can handle myself.", he insisted but the pointed look taehyung gave him said otherwise. "sometimes."

taehyung smirked and winked at him. "i'm kidding. you're gonna be great.", he said and bowed to him, his eyes locking onto something fluttering on the ground. he gasped and held onto it so it wouldn't fly away, holding it safely. "look. did you drop this? you can be lucky i- there's my name on it?"

jeongguk could swear he saw his life crushing down in front of him as he saw the dirty paper in taehyungs hand with the font on it only he mastered. he gulped and didn't know whether he should rip it out of his hand or run off and possibly fall.

taehyung looked down at it and unfolded it twice. "do you think it's for me?", he giggled and eyed the beautifully written words on the page. it was crumbled up, yes, but it was still pretty. prettily clumsy. just like jeongguk. he could guess it was jeongguks because it magically landed right beside him, threatening to fly away.

'i don't know what this will be but i'm writing it with all the balls i possess so i can finally say it. i suck at talking so i had to write it and i wanted to give it to you earlier but i don't think i can finish it.. but i wanted to ask you if you would accept a strawberry boba from me as well since all your secret admirers seem to have that routine. and i guess i should do the same to identify as one too.

because.. you're really pretty, please marry me, i can cook well. i swear i'll have a glow up in five years i'm working on it.

j.jg'

taehyung probably read everything in a matter of two moments but he had to read it all over again.. and again.. and again. because that was probably the cutest thing he had ever received from anyone and the fact that it came from jeongguk was like a jackpot in the lottery.

he couldnt help but blush as he held back a giggle. "this is so cute. when did you write that?", he asked, noticing that the words were written in three different inks, telling him he did take longer than he wanted to.

said secret admirer was still in a trance as the words went past him without catching onto his brain first. he blinked himself out of it and took a deep breath. "i- this.. this is- nothing. i.. uh- this is embarrassing.", he rambled and shut himself up.

taehyung was still not done with cooing at him as he folded the paper again, putting it into his own backpack. his skirt fluttered with the impact of the wind while his sweater was preventing him from feeling the cold on his body. "well.. if it was nothing, then i'll just go get boba myself.", he hummed, turning around before counting down from three in his head.

"wait! no. i will.. i will come with you.", jeongguk yelped and stumbled after him. he was blushing tremendously and his heart was beating out of his chest, way too fast. maybe he would even have a heart attack. but it would be fine because he would die next to the love of his life.

taehyung giggled. "you're paying, though.", he said and flicked his chin, texting his mom that she didnt need to wait. he put his phone back into his bag and looked over at her car, winking at her before continuing his way. jeongguk next to him was still shaking.

"yeah.. a-anything for you.", he mumbled and nodded eagerly, his eyes trained on taehyung instead of the street in front of him nor his own feet, which he should be focusing on more.. taehyung tsked. "eyes forward.", he said. "or you'll fall."

jeongguk huffed and crossed his arms as he scrunched his nose, causing his glasses to move up as well. "i won't."

"you will.", taehyung said.

"i won't."

(spoiler: he did. he fell at their way back after they threw away their cups, which he got a kiss for.)

(maybe he got even more kisses, we'll never know.)

__

taehyung let out a soft sigh, his eyes closed by now. "i'm glad you fell.", he mumbled and yawned. he opened his eyes to gaze up at his husband and rubbed them.

jeongguk chuckled lowly and played with the soft blonde curls he had always admired back in high school. "i'm glad you did, too.", he hummed and kissed the top of his head. he sat up with a small groan and picked him up, carrying him upstairs into their bedroom.

"you know, i still have scars."

"you do?"

"yup."

"how come i never see them?"

"because when i'm naked your eyes are focusing on something else."

"shut up!"

"did you just hit me?"

"i sure did."
