Work Text:
That day, Hawks was extremely giddy. It was so obvious that something incredible happened to him that even the villains noticed it as he walked through the door of the PLF’s common room to give his report to Mr. Compress.
”What happened with you today, Hawkey?” Toga asked from one of the sofas, leaning forward.
”Why do you ask?” The blonde man asked back, looking at her from the corner of his eye.
”You’re so happy as if you’d won the lottery,” Spinner said from one of the armchairs and Hawks giggled.
Hearing the unusual sound, Dabi peeked over his book at the bird man. He narrowed his eyes as annoyance bloomed in his chest. Hawks was irritating enough as it was. Dabi didn’t need a plus layer of that.
”Well, just so you know, I met an angel today,” Hawks announced and Dabi had to surpass a groan. If something didn’t interested him, that was the bird’s love life.
”Oh~ Is our Hawkey getting a girlfriend?” Toga asked, bunching in her seat.
”Well, I hope so,” Hawks answered, rubbing the back of his head. ”I met her when I was in the agency of the Number One Hero. I’ve never seen such beauty ever before! Only the thought of her snow white hair makes me feel all fuzzy inside!”
Dabi felt as the book in his hands burnt into ashes. He heard an indignant sight from Mr. Compress and a comment from Spinner that he shouldn’t burn what’s not his, but he didn’t give a fuck about it. In the blink of an eye, he was already pressing Hawks against the wall.
”Wow, what’s wrong with you, man?” Spinner spoke up with slight alarm in his voice, but Dabi paid him no mind. He leaned close to Hawks’ ear and whispered into it on his most intimidating voice
”It’s too risky, don’t you think?” Hawks sent him a questioning look. ”Hitting on someone near to the No. 1 can cause trouble for our case,” Dabi continued, tightening his grip on the front of Hawks’ coat, ”and you know what’ll happen if you fuck it up.”
”You’ll turn me into a real fired chicken,” Hawks said, pretty unfazed for Dabi’s liking, ”but you can’t expect me not to follow my heart, man!”
”Like hell I can!” Dabi growled and Hawks gulped. ”Stay the hell away from anyone near to Mr. No 1 and we’ll be good.” Dabi really hoped he put his message across well enough, but from the cocky smile appearing on Hawks’ lips he knew he failed.
”I’ll see what I can do,” the bastard said with his smile widening, ”but I can’t promise anything!”
