Work Text:
Considering how different their social statuses were, they shouldn’t have become so good friends. At least, that was what Natsuo was telling himself over and over again – that they were only friends. He was sitting on one of the benches in the garden, waiting for the other to arrive. They didn’t talk about any meet ups, but Natsuo knew he’d come.
”Why are you here?” Came the question behind him and Natsuo felt his lips quirking up in a smile. ”Your father clearly ordered you to stay in your chambers.”
”Fuck my father!” Natsuo said matter-of-factly and Tomura let out a small chuckled as he sat down beside him. ”The same goes for you, tho. If you’re not back in time, my father will behead you without any questions.”
”And yet, both of us are here,” Tomura concluded, turning his gaze up towards the sky.
For a few minutes, they sat in silence, watching the night sky. Suddenly, Natsuo felt fingers intertwining with him. For a moment he debated whether to pull his hand away or not, but he squeezed the hand eventually. Tomura turned towards him and the younger felt his heart beet two times faster, because of the intense red gaze.
”W-what?” He asked with reddening cheeks. Tomura cradled one of his cheeks in his free hand, while his other squeezed Natsuo’s harder.
”I’ll find you, you know,” he said and Natsuo blinked questionably. ”No matter what kind of life we’ll be reborn, I’ll find you.”
Natsuo snorted and looked aside, clearly embarrassed.
”Don’t tell me you believe all that soulmate crap!”
”Why not? Your big brother and Hawks state they are soulmates all the time.”
”My brother and Keigo are two fucking romantics. It is so annoying!” Natsuo said and Tomura chuckled again. ”Why do you have to think about the worst chase scenario, anyways? Every war has survivors!”
”Natsu-” Tomura started, but Natsuo interrupted.
”I know the Liberation Army is strong! I know Re-Destro is a fucking monster! But I know that our army is consisting of the best knights of the whole fricking kingdom!”
”The others would feel so honored, if they heard what you’d just said about them,” Tomura said with a small nod. The second prince might be bratty sometimes, but everyone in the army respected him deeply.
”But I only say it to you,” Natsuo said, then took Tomura’s cheeks in his hands. ”So, don’t you dare die out there!” Tomura shook his head with a smile, then leaned in and kissed him.
”I’ll see what I can do!”
