Todoroki’s Birthday

Summary:

Todoroki never told anyone when his birthday is, but Izuku finds out.

Work Text:

It was January 11, but he was the only who understood it's importance. No one wished him a 'Happy Birthday!' like they did to others. He honestly longed for it. Just a bit. Not that he would ever admit it. However, that would all change soon.

As Todoroki passed Midoriya in the halls, Midoriya noticed something was off. He just didn't know what. He could solve that, either by asking Todoroki, or doing investigation. He first decided to talk to him, and if that didn't work, he would resort to 'hero work'. He hoped that he wouldn't mind though. Thankfully school had just ended, and he could solve the case.

"Hey, Todoroki!" yelled Midoriya. He had just barely caught the aloof boy's attention, and raced to him. "Would you like to hang out today? I have nothing on my calendar, and Uraraka and Iida are busy."

"Huh, okay, Midoriya. want to hang out at my dorm?" offered the heterochromatic boy. Mioriya took him up on that offer, and soon they were heading to the 1-A dorms.

"-and Iida was just waving his hands around the whole time!" said Midoriya, which managed to get a slight chuckle out of Todoroki. That alone may not seem like much, but with this aloof, heterochromatic boy, it was a lot. Midoriya also chuckled, and Todoroki smiled as Midoriya looked away. It was just a pity that Midoriya hadn't looked at that moment, or he would've found a slight blush dusting the normally aloof boy's face.

"Haha, that does sound like Iida," said Todoroki as they arrived. When he opened the door, he saw Midoriya looking away. Being the slightly curious and oblivious boy he was, he grabbed Midoriya's chin and pulled his head to face him. "Look at me," he said as he saw Midoriya's eyes facing downwards. He tilted Midoriya's chin up until his eye where looking at him. When his eyes did meet Todoroki, his face looked as dark as his left side's locks, and his eyes got even wider, (if that's even possible)

"A-Ah, T-Todoroki, You sh-shoudn't do that!" Midoriya shouted embarrassedly. He had liked Todoroki after he had become friends with him. He had learned that Todoroki didn't have the best home life when he was younger. He even told Midoriya about the story of his burn, which he had not done with anyone else prior. Midoriya and Todoroki had become best friends, and both hoped for more. Only Uraraka saw both sides of affection, as Todoroki had come to her for advice on how to act with Midoriya.

"Sorry, I'm still not sure how to act with people. I didn't really come to U.A. to make friends. I originally came here to reject my dad. I told you that," said Todoroki looked the other way, releasing Midoriya's chin, and Midoriya did the same.

"Let's go in, shall we?" said Todoroki. He offered, still facing the other way. Midoriya took him up on his offer. After they went in, Todoroki grabbed some food for them out of the fridge, set it on a ceramic plate, and sat on the couch with Midoriya. Midoriya was about to grab some, but Todoroki stopped him. He switched it out of his right hand to his left, which began to glow. The glow grew brighter, and Midoriya realized it was his Quirk. The food as steaming within 1 minute, and Todoroki offered Midoriya fork. Todoroki gave the bowl to him, when Midoriya realized it was soba noodles.

Todoroki got up, and grabbed another serving for himself, and didn't bother to warm it up.He preferred it that way. Midoriya didn't know this, but added it to his mental note to write in his book. Except he wasn't refering to his hero analysis book. That's right, Midoriya had a whole notebook just to study Todoroki, and what to do and where to go on dates. If he ever managed to confess.

Oh! That was right, Midoriya almost forgot what he came here for, and set down his bowl to excuse himself to the bathroom. As he walked down the halls, he noticed Todoroki's bedroom. He walked in, and saw a calendar. On that calendar, today's date had a little note in it, which read Birthday. Midoriya saw this and frowned. He instantly ran back to Todoroki, and gave him a huge hug and half-yelled "Happy Birthday!" to him. Todoroki smiled a little, and thanked him. They finished their soba and cleaned up.

As they headed back into Todoroki's room, they saw Ashido in the halls, and waved. Midoriya stopped Todoroki and waited for Ashido to leave earshot. When she did, Todoroki would sure be glad he didn't just stare at Midoriya and keep walking.

"Todoroki... I don't know h-how to say this but... I-I've liked you. For a while now, ever since the sports festival. I'd understand if you did-" Midoriya was cut off by Todoroki lightly pressing his lips on his and pulling away.

"This is the best birthday gift I could ever receive. And have ever received," Todoroki stated simply.

And that was the truth. Midoriya was all he could ever want and need.
