Dealing with the two, quoting from Sakura, was like dealing with cats.
Clingy, annoying cats.
Now that Nene was bonded to not one, but TWO ghosts, it meant twice the stress. She could have sworn she developed some kind of muscle from having to carry the twins while they casually stuck themselves on her like super glue.
Well, it was good Hanako would stop Tsukasa from attempting to bite her multiple times (she rather not want to know what started that impulse in the first place).
Now in the confides of her classroom, Nene could take a breath of ease. This was one of those rare times she could tend to herself, no ghosts coming to smother her. She can now think properly with space provided.
Seriously, they're always on me no matter what. Is it a twin thing I don't get at all?
All in a flash, the peace she was hoping shattered, as a flock of Mokke scurried into the classroom in a rush, looking quite frightened. Some hid behind Nene's ankles and some unceremoniously jumped into her arms, hiding through her hair.
"Wha—is something the matter, Mokke-chan?!" She asked through the swarm of spooked Mokke continuing to climb all over her.
"They're coming to eat us! They're coming to eat us!" The bunny creatures cried out.
"Eat you?"
"Get back here!" In an instant, Hanako and Tsukasa came rushing right behind the Mokke, with an unfortunate one held captive between Tsukasa's teeth—it could just squirm around helplessly—like a cat who had caught a mouse.
Speaking of cat...
"Hanako-kun? Tsukasa-kun? Why do you have—" Nene didn't even have time to finish her question when the twins immediately tackled her, with Mokke being flung off at every direction.
"Nene's here!" Tsukasa purred, rubbing his nose against her neck, and needless to say, it rendered her flustered.
"You smell so good today, Yashiro~" Hanako mirrored his brother's actions, and what intensified the entire thing was the twins had cat ears on each of them, and tails that swished back and forth with excitement.
They weren't just acting like cats anymore. They literally WERE cats!
What in the world happened to them?!
"It seemed the little creatures accidentally tampered with this." Sakura pointed to a small robot (or what was left of it, anyway) being kept in a trash can. Nene had come to the broadcasting clubroom unannounced, two literal cat boys clinging to her, much to the upperclassman's amusement.
"So that's why the Mokke-chan were running away from them. Are they gonna turn back to normal?"
"It might wear off tomorrow. These kinds of apparitions normally don't last another day anyways."
Nene sighed, looking over her shoulder. Natsuhiko was keeping the twins occupied by making them chase a laser pointer around, and it seemed like he was having too much fun with it.
Sakura noticed her change in mood. "Let Natsuhiko deal with them for a moment. Why don't we have some tea?"
"Gladly."
Tea time helped Nene relax even just a little bit, as to her relief, the next class was a vacant period. That meant more time to make sure the boys didn't do anything rash.
Loud hissing was heard from outside the school, and Nene grimaced. She just had to jinx it, huh?
She ran to the practice garden, seeing Hanako and Tsukasa facing each other menacingly, in a feline fighting pose. Their tails were upright, as they stared at each other with wide eyes, fangs being bared out.
"You two, don't fight!" She didn't want to get her precious plants ruined from a cat fight.
"He started it!"
"Liar! You were the one who started it!"
Nene honestly wanted to explode right there. What did it take for the two boys to stop fighting?!
"If you don't make up, I'll... I'll..." She held on her words a bit, thinking of what to continue. Finally pointing an accusing finger at them, she added,
"I'll never talk to you two again!"
That empty threat seemed to work, as Hanako and Tsukasa were suddenly by her side, looking up at her with pleading eyes.
"We'll be good." Hanako wrapped both arms around her shoulders, rubbing his head against her hair, cat ears twitching. "Just don't ignore us, Yashiro."
"What he said." Tsukasa rubbed his cheek against her own, very much like how a cat would. Before she could speak again, however—
"Hey! Get your hands off Senpai!" Kou had somehow arrived, swinging his exorcist staff at the twins. They hissed at him, yet for whatever reason they finally let go of Nene.
"You okay? Did they hurt you?" Nene shook her head at the boy.
"I'm fine, Kou-kun! No need to worry."
"But Senpai..." Kou gave the brothers a side look, before returning to Nene. "You do realize they were trying to, uh..."
"Trying to do what?" She tilted her head at him, as the blond became nervous and looked down from her gaze.
"Uh... You know cats like to rub themselves around things to mark territory, right?"
"Yes...?" Nene lifted an eyebrow, not really liking how this conversation was going.
"Well, you see... that's what those two were doing to you... so..." Kou, although now looking a little shaken, shot a glare at the ghosts.
Hanako... Tsukasa... marking territory...
Marking... her...
Ding!
Nene flopped over to the floor, eyes swirling and face burning red. Poor Kou had to stumble over to catch her, shouting worriedly.
"Senpai? SENPAI!!"
Ugh... What happened? Nene returned to her full conciousness, rubbing her eyes. She found herself by the school infirmary, more specifically on one of the beds.
A low rumble startled her a bit, but upon seeing the two cat ears by each side and the idly floating will-o-wisps bumping into each other, she sighed.
There she was, once again sandwiched between the twins. They were fast asleep, purring happily with their arms around her, legs tangled and wrapped all over her own.
She couldn't help but smile though. At least they weren't attempting to claw out each other's faces off anymore.
Clingy cats, indeed.
