Chapter Text
Chapter One-
He realized now just how rash his decision had been. He shouldn’t have rushed out like he did. With just his hoodie, jeans, phone, and his notebooks. No food, water or even a plan. Where was he supposed to go now? He couldn’t go back ‘home’. He’d just be in even more trouble. There was no way he was going back to that place willingly.
So what does he do now?
Shifting his backpack in front of him, he grabs his phone from it’s front pocket. Maybe google will have answers? Before he can even turn it on though something lands behind him. He jumps and turns, throwing his backpack at whatever it was that had snuck up on him. Turning the rest of the way to see what it is, he pauses.
Standing in front of him is a man with bright red wings. Even in the dark he can tell they’re bright. Wait a second. He knows those wings.
‘Shit. I just chucked my backpack in the face of a Pro hero! Not just any hero though. I just chucked it at Hawks!’
The hero in front of him groaned before standing back up. Rubbing at his noise as he does so.
“I’m so sorry! I didn’t realize it was you and you scared me. I just kinda reacted! I didn’t mean to hurt you. Are you okay! I should have…” He continues to ramble as his face grows redder.
Hawks just laughs though.
“It’s fine! I startled you. I shouldn’t have snuck up on you. I kinda had that coming. You’ve probably already figured it out by now, but I’m Hawks. It nice to meet you…” he trails off at the end.
“Oh! I’m M-midoriya Izuku! It’s great to meet you H-hawks! I’m sorry again for throwing my bag at you…” Midoryia rubs his neck anxiously. “Do…..do you think I could get your a-autograph?
Hawks laughs again before nodding his head.
“Sure! What do you want me to sign.”
Midoriya quickly makes his way to his backpack and takes out an older notebook that included a page on Hawks. He quickly rifles through the pages before stopping on the right one. He wordlessly hands the notebook over to Hawks along with a pen.
Hawks takes the notebook and signs it before his eyes go wide.
“Did you write all of this?” Midoriya nods slowly, shrinking in on himself.
Is it really that bad? What if he’s upset I analyzed him. Oh god I’m in so much trouble. What….
His train of that comes to a halt though as Hawks talks.
“These are really good Midoriya! It’s so detailed!” He rifles through a couple more pages skimming through the words. “This is at a professional level kid! Do you have an analysis quirk?”
Midoriya stops at those last words. Hesitating before he answers, voice barely above a whisper.
“I don’t have a quirk. I’m quirkless.” He stands there head down waiting for the hero to react. To yell at him, fly away, degrade him. But it never comes. Slowly he looks up.
Only to find Hawks giving him a bright smile before he talks.
“That so much more impressive kid. Your analysis skills are better than the guy I pay to do this kind of work and he has a quirk to help him. You're just naturally smart!” He gives him another blinding smile before changing the topic.
“So kid why are you out so late at night. Shouldn’t you be home by now. Better yet asleep?” His voice is light but his face looks dead serious.
“Would you believe me if I told you I was out with friends?” Midoriya's voice is small but for once he speaks clearly. He looks up to see Hawks give him a sad smile.
“Nope, not for a second. I’m guessing you don’t want to go home right now anyway. Right?”
He nods mutely eyes cast down to the sidewalk. Hawks sighs across from him before supposedly making up his mind.
“Alright kid, looks like you're coming back to my apartment with me for the night before I have to report whatever it is that's going on to the police tomorrow morning. How does that sound?”
Midoriya looks up confusion clear in his eyes.
“You have an apartment? No offence but are you old enough to own one?”
Hawks give an offended squawk before responding.
“Excuse you, I am in fact old enough to own an apartment. For your information I’m eighteen you brat.” This draws a giggle from Midoriya.
“Alright Birdboy, I’ll accept your offer for the night.” Silence stretches between the two before Hawks speaks up again.
“You ready to fly brat, it’ll be quicker that way.” Midoryia gives a small nod before he finds himself swept off the ground and flying over the city. He clutches his backpack tighter as they continue to fly faster.
-------
Before long they land on a balcony and Hawks opens the sliding door. He steps inside after Hawks and stands there awkwardly. The apartment is large but still has a homey feel. Like it’s actually lived rather than just for looks. The walls have floor to ceiling windows and the couch is slightly worn and has blankets draped over it. He can distantly see a nice kitchen off to the right and a hallway in the other direction. Hawks motions for him to follow after him as he takes off down the hallway.
“So that's the bathroom.” He points to the first door in the hallway as he continues to walk. “This one will be your room for as long as you're wanting to stay with me. Feel free to do whatever you’d like to do with it.” He points to the door across from the bathroom as he says it. “The door at the end of the hall is my room. If you need anything don’t hesitate to ask. Okay?” Midoriya nods at this when Hawks stops to wait for his reaction.
“Alright kiddo, it’s past midnight at this point. Why don’t you head to bed and tomorrow we can head to the police department and hopefully get you away from whatever it is that's keeping you from wanting to go home. Sounds good?” Again Midoriya nods.
“One last thing! Call me Takami outside of when I’m doing hero work. There’s no need to always call me Hawks.” With that he turns and heads down the hall to his bedroom. A “Night kid” Is called over his shoulder as he goes.
Midoriya throws a goodnight back at Hawks-no Takami before going into what's supposedly his room. His backpack is dropped to the ground forgotten as he lands in the bed. Eyes closing and quickly drifting off to sleep.
