Chapter Text
1.
Katsuki puts down the last box and sweeps his forehead with his forearm, he sweats buckets thanks to that stupid weather, it was fucking hot outside, the hottest summer in the last few years. Fucking ridiculous, that’s what it was.
"I think that was the last of it," Kirishima says and Katsuki looks at him.
The Hair for Brains grins at Uraraka patting her on the shoulder, complimenting her for the job well done.
Katsuki would never admit it out loud, but the Round’s Face quirk proved to be quite helpful with the move. It went much faster when she could make shit weightless.
"Yeah, thanks to your Quirk, Uraraka-Kun, the move went in no time at all," Iida adds adjusting his glasses.
He watches the three of them admire their work, piles upon piles of boxes with various items, most of them Deku’s All Might collection, the rest is packed with the usual stuff, clothes, house items and such.
He shakes his head and looks for Izuku, he finds him in their new bedroom, unpacking stuff, face split in a wide smile, excitement oozing from him in waves and Katsuki’s heart flutters at the sight of him. Izuku's cheeks are flushed, hair in complete disarray and he's so goddamn happy it’s infectious.
“Oi, Deku. Whatcha grinning about, hmm?”
Izuku turns around to face him and beams, “Kacchan!” He puts down the lamp he was holding on the nightstand next to the bed and practically skips up to him. "I'm just super happy."
Katsuki can’t help the grin, “yeah, I can see that.” He looks around and can’t quite believe they moved in together, some days he still can’t believe that Izuku is still with him, puts up with him, loves him. It makes strange things to his heart and to be fucking honest, he never thought he would have this. He never thought about love or other shit like that, being a Hero the only thing that mattered to him… but then stupid Deku happened, sticking to him since they’re four, even when he treated him like a bug under his shoe, and fuck Katsuki regrets it as all Hell, but Izuku still forgave him and in the end, he even gave Katsuki his love, and he was eventually swept by the stubborn bastard… like always and honestly he wouldn't have it any other way.
Fuck… he became a sappy idiot.
“Kacchan?”
He glances at Deku and just pulls him in, can’t quite help himself, because it’s this dumbass fault he’s like this, the love almost choking him, he’s surprised that a person can love someone so much and he does.
Fuck all this, but he does. So. Fucking. Much.
And if anyone hurts Deku he will show them what real Hell looks like.
Because Deku might be strong, finally growing into the All for One, but he’s a reckless idiot, too and good thing that they’re Hero partners – The Wonder fucking Duo at that – so he can have an eye out for him.
“Deku.” He rasps, his voice tight with the fucking emotions he doesn’t know what to do with so he does the only thing he knows and kisses his nerd like the world about to end.
Izuku’s breath catches with the surprise, but soon enough, he gives as good as he gets and Hell if Katsuki doesn’t fucking love it.
He lets his hands wander, caressing Deku’s ribs brushing down his sides and then lower to the dips of his navel Katsuki loves so much, he brushes these spots with his thumbs and Izuku shivers all over, Katsuki grins at that and pulls him closer, the kiss getting a little bit hotter. He feels the heat coiling in his stomach and thinks that Deku is the only person able to make him feel this way, he always was good at pulling all sorts of emotions out of Katsuki.
"Guys, keep it PG, all right?" Kirishima's voice reaches him through the fog his mind was clouded with, and honestly why is he friends with him again?
He lets out a growl when Izuku jumps up in the air and squeaks, "Kirishima-Kun!" Deku blushes to the tips of his ears and Katsuki considers him for a second.
Well, it’s not a bad look for him, the red flush going down, vanishing under his T-shirt making his freckles stand out more, the lower lip he gnaws on from embarrassment and Katsuki just… wants.
He’s not sure what exactly, whenever to devour him or shower with affection or smother him in love or maybe all the above, so he does the only rational thing and flips his friend off.
“Fuck off, Kirishima.” He throws the redhead his wallet, which he catches without a problem. “Take some money and take the rest of the Extras for some food or other shit you assholes want to do.”
Kirishima raises his brow at him and Katsuki’s patience is wearing thin until he’s hit over the head. It’s light, but it still catches him off guard.
“Kacchan!” Izuku says, arms crossed and cheeks puffed out. Katsuki’s not sure if he tries for intimidating or what but from his perspective Izuku looks like an angry puppy or some shit. A curly-haired Pomeranian, maybe. “Be nice! They’re not some Extras but our friends! Ones that helped us with the move so don’t be mean.”
Katsuki sighs and glances at Kirishima, "sorry, whatever. Take our friends for some food or fucking something.” He grumbles.
“And?” Izuku raises his brow, but he smiles a tiny little bit and Katsuki groans. The things he does for this nerd.
“And thanks for the help.” He adds but he grudgingly admits it’s worth it if the sunshiny smile he gets from Izuku in return is anything to go by.
Kirishima beams as well, “sure, no problem, bro! You can always count on us!” Then he turns on his heel and goes into the living room and after a moment all their friends are gone, happily laughing and shit.
He turns to Izuku ready to continue, but Deku is faster than him, he pulls him in for a kiss as heated as before, standing on the tip of his toes and Katsuki can’t help but snort at that.
“Shorty.”
Izuku punches him lightly in the arm, “shut up and kiss me Kacchan.”
And Katsuki does just that, grinning like a motherfucking idiot, impossibly happy to not be the only one to feel this overwhelming need, this rush of love.
They've been together for about two years now, almost one year through their pro Heroship, already labeled the Wonder Duo, taking the Pro Hero world by storm. Partners in all fucking aspects of life and Katsuki wouldn’t have it any other way.
2.
Izuku slowly wakes up, the sun is too bright and he turns the other way hiding his face in the pillow in the last effort to hide from these treacherous sun rays. He squeezes his eyes and hugs the pillow closer, willing himself to sleep, but to no avail. He sighs and with a tremendous effort he opens his eyes only to close them again when the light hits him in the face, he lets out a groan and tries again.
"That's what you've got for staying late to watch your nerdy programs," Katsuki says lazily, a hint of a smirk in his voice, and Izuku wills his eyes to open to send him a glare, Kacchan only laughs at his efforts.
“Well, it was a special series of documentaries about Heroes.” He murmurs.
“Sure, whatever you say, nerd.”
Izuku can’t help himself, he puffs out his cheeks, “you’re such a meanie, Kacchan!”
Katsuki blinks and promptly barks out a sharp laugh, Izuku glances at him and it’s the wrong thing to do because his chest suddenly feels too heavy.
Kacchan looks at him with fondness, corners of his lips turned up in a small, private smile, there’s a halo of sunshine hitting him from behind and it makes him look soft and at peace, something that doesn’t happen very often, because Kacchan is all sharp, hard edges, so Izuku commits this sight to his memory.
He can’t get enough of this, waking up like that together.
He blinks when he suddenly feels a hand on his cheek, knuckles brushing gently under his eye, taking away the rest of his sleep away. When he gazes at Katsuki he’s met with a very intense look, Kacchan moves his hand up into his hair giving him a quick ruffle before it goes down to his neck, where it gives a little squeeze and then just stays there, a comforting weight.
Izuku is sure he stopped breathing and then Kacchan smirks and instantly ruins the moment.
“Tch, such an ugly face, with fucking big eyes and stupid freckles. Disgusting.”
Izuku huffs annoyed, “sorry for being ugly then.” Even if you’re dating this ugly, he thinks.
Katsuki moves closer, and Izuku doesn’t have a choice but to lie on his back, Katsuki hovering over him before he leans in and whispers, “mmm so goddamn ugly.” He rubs Izuku’s cheek affectionately with his own and Izuku blushes which warrants him a wide grin, “absolutely appalling.”
“Kaccha—"
“So you better stuck by my side, ‘cause I want to see it every day.” He says and nuzzles into Izuku’s neck that is followed by a bite and Izuku whimpers at that, face red and heart beating so fast he’s afraid it will jump out of his chest.
He rounds his arms around Katsuki and tugs him closer until he’s lying on him, Kacchan huffs out an exasperated laugh, but goes obediently, hugging Izuku like he’s the most important thing in the world and then well… good thing they soundproofed their apartment or the neighbors would kick their asses out of the building a long time ago.
3.
Katsuki is tired as all hell when he comes back home, the mission taking its toll on him, he rarely works without Izuku, but the nerd had to stay home to make sure the effects of some asshole Villain’s quirk stopped working.
When he opens the door, he's hit with some fucking delicious aroma, he takes off his shoes and throws his bag to the floor. He walks to the living room and his eyes immediately land on Izuku who turns to him and smiles.
This motherfucking smile.
“Welcome home, Kacchan.”
Katsuki grunts out ‘I’m home’ and walks into the kitchen where he’s greeted with a kiss to the cheek. He gives Izuku a proper kiss and gets a giggle in return.
Fuck, he loves this idiot.
“So what’s for dinner?”
Izuku hums and turns to the stove, he picks up the lid and Katsuki is met with a delicious, mouth-watering smell.
“It’s just curry. I made it extra spicy. You should take a bath and then we’ll eat, ok?”
Katsuki nods as he takes a spoon, mixes the curry for a moment, and then tries it. True to Deku’s word, the food is extra hot, just the way he likes it. “It’s good.”
The nerd beams at him, “it’s thanks to Kacchan I can cook at all.”
And it’s true, with all honesty Katsuki thought that he will have no choice but to be the appointed cook since Izuku was a fucking disaster when it came to anything remotely tied to the kitchen, but he took it to heart to teach the nerd how to cook and it was an absolute fucking nightmare in all fucking ways, but look at him now being so goddamn proud of himself.
“Get the table ready, then.” He kisses Izuku once more before he goes to take a bath, all the tension and fatigue already forgotten.
4.
Izuku briefly looks at the clock hanging over the TV and sighs, ever since Katsuki came back from his mission 2 hours ago, he holed himself in their bedroom and kicked Izuku out, for some peace and quiet as he put it.
He absentmindedly switches programs, but nothing catches his eyes, worry eating him alive, normally he would put up a fight over something like this, but Kacchan looked really tired and on a verge of snapping so for the sake of it Izuku relented, Katsuki will come to him of his own eventually. Something that would never happen before they started going out, even before they learned how to be friends again, but after these few years they were together, Kacchan started to be more open when he needed comfort or help, still prideful though, so it usually took him some time before he sucked it up and came to Izuku with whatever was on his mind.
So Izuku snuggles into the sofa, worrying the hem of his shirt and trying really hard not to sprint to Kacchan’s side right here and there, instead giving him the space he needed.
When he finally hears the soft click of the door, he turns his head so fast he's afraid for a second he'll get whiplash from the sudden movement. He gives Katsuki a quick once over and his hands twitch with the need to go up to him and touch.
Katsuki looks even more tired than before, eyes bloodshot and brows furrowed, face twisted in a grimace and shoulders sagged.
Izuku watches Katsuki go to their kitchen, how he fills a glass with water and downs it in one go, how he grits his teeth and squeezes his eyes and Izuku heart calls to him, the need to do something too overwhelming.
“Kacchan.” He whispers softly and Katsuki’s head snaps to him, eyes dangerous, gleaming in the dim light and screaming bloody murder, lips turned in a snarl, but Izuku doesn’t let it get to him. He knows that Katsuki is a difficult person better than anyone and starting a relationship with him was probably a really stupid idea, but Izuku didn't regret it even once, he didn't care about what people had to say about their relationship, because it was his choice, and he's glad that he chose Kacchan because he could be a witness to all the good he was capable of, all the struggles he pulled through to be a better person, the struggles he's still going through. So he opens his arms and smiles softly, waiting patiently.
Katsuki lets out a growl and promptly squeezes his eyes, it makes Izuku wince in sympathy because he already figured out why Katsuki came back home like this. He saw the news of the group of Villains Ground Zero took down, one of the Villains had a quirk similar to Present Mic and the other could amplify the pain inflicted by the loud noise.
Katsuki shakes his head, which is a bad idea when you're struggling with the headache of the century and sure enough he cringes, leaning on the kitchen counter before he pulls up and slowly goes to Izuku.
He falls into his arms and Izuku's heart squeezes, he gently runs his fingers through Katsuki's hair and Katsuki let's out a fluttering sigh, it gives him an idea so he leans back and looks at him.
“Kacchan, why don’t you lie on my lap, hmm?”
Katsuki regards him with a glare, insult ready on the tip of his tongue, but Izuku just tilts his head and gives Katsuki's neck a little squeeze. "Trust me, please." It's like a magic word, because Katsuki grits his teeth before he nods, he wouldn't be himself though if he didn't dish out some rude remark about it. Katsuki is Katsuki even in head-splitting pain.
"Who would want to lie on such hard thighs, you damn nerd."
Izuku huffs, “I know for a fact that you love my thighs, I have bite marks to prove it, thank you very much.”
Katsuki furrows his brows and Izuku winces, right the headache, “sorry, Kacchan.”
He waits patiently as Katsuki makes himself comfortable and finally, he lies his head in Izuku's lap.
“Tch, so hard.”
Izuku shakes his head, “brat.”
Katsuki smirks and swiftly grimaces so Izuku doesn’t waste any more time and gets to it. He gently runs his fingers again through Katsuki’s hair and lightly massages his scalp, then he moves to his temples and presses a tad harder, going in small circles. After a few minutes, Katsuki closes his eyes, visibly relaxing, some of the tension leaving his shoulders and Izuku counts that as a win.
People can say what they want, but they don’t know Katsuki the way he does and Izuku lives for moments like this. Sure Kacchan is rude and brash most of the time, but Izuku learned how to read between the lines and he came to cherish all the moments when Katsuki’s like this, trusting Izuku enough to show his vulnerability. People don’t understand, voicing their opinions left and right, but never their friends, those are the most supportive people he knows and he’s thankful for them every moment of his life.
Sure Kacchan and he fight sometimes, but what couple doesn’t. Maybe they are a little unorthodox, but that’s just the way they are. Sure Kacchan is full of faults, rooted deep down and hard to plug out, but Izuku’s not better, they’re both difficult, but despite that they make it work and it’s so much more rewarding because despite their occasional fights and quarrels Izuku feels loved and cared for.
He smiles fondly at the man he came to love so fiercely, remembers how Katsuki was so awkward with his affection, easily embarrassed, with no idea how to express his love not that Izuku was any better, mind you. They’ve come such a long way.
Katsuki groans and Izuku blinks, looking down, he was so lost in his thoughts that he didn’t realize he stopped what he was doing.
His boyfriend opens one eye and glares, quite a feat if you ask about Izuku’s honest opinion.
“Who told you to stop. Get the fuck back to it, 'Zuku or I'll fucking kill you." There’s no heat to his words, only his usual rude self.
Izuku can’t help himself and snorts, “you love me too much to go through with it.”
He expects a groan or some kind exasperated remark, or twitching eye or anything really, instead Kacchan stares at him intensely for what feels like an eternity, Izuku watches in marvel as his eyes soften around the edges, so many emotions reflecting in them that Izuku’s breath catches in his throat, lungs compressing painfully.
Kacchan reaches up, and his stupid heart stops at that and then goes back to life beating double time when his hand tenderly touches Izuku’s cheek first before it ends up on the side of his head, fingers tangled in his curls, “mmm… you’re right. I do.”
Izuku’s face explodes in flames, his heart going a mile a minute, beating wildly like a hummingbird. He trembles when he bends down and touches his forehead to Katsuki’s, the sudden rush of love too much to handle.
“I love you too, Kacchan.”
“I know, nerd. I know.” Katsuki smiles, his face peaceful without trademark scorn marring it. He looks soft and happy and Izuku is ready to cry.
People can judge them all they want, but in moments like this, when Kacchan is painfully honest, all walls down, Izuku can't help but fall in love with him all over again.
