“Bring it on, Cheeks.”
Ochako huffed, her broom tucked underneath her arm. “I’ll destroy you.’’ Her eyes shone brightly underneath the sunlight. “My team will win.”
”You wish.” He smirked.
“You’re so annoying.” Ochako rolled her eyes.
He extended his hand, a mischievous glint in his eyes. She knew she needed to stretch hers, for the sake of ‘good inter-house relations’, but his tone and the corner of his lips pulled into a smile made it seem more like a challenge than anything else.
“Have a good game, Captain.” His voice was lower than usual, his tone making Ochako fix her gaze in his.
Ochako felt grateful for the sun that shone bright and hot upon them. If anything, the perceptible blush in her cheeks could pass off as feeling heated and not as the warmth she had started feeling more and more each time she was anywhere near him. It got worse whenever their usual banter gave him the opening to tease her.
His slight close-lipped smile made her blink and realize she must have gotten lost in her thoughts for a moment. Stepping forward, she stretched her hand. As her palm settled in his, despite their animosity (that Mina had labeled as ‘belligerent sexual tension’), an electrifying sensation passed through her, reverberating against the tingling skin of her palm.
She let out a huff and retired her hand, turning around and moving to mount her Nimbus 3000, immediately kicking off from the ground once the Quidditch referee started the match.
Up , Ochako murmured in her head, and she was quickly floating up until she was level-head with the towers around the pitch. Hovering in the air, she hummed underneath her breath as she hovered in wait for the Snitch.
Uraraka Ochako was a muggle-born witch and she relished in it.
She took pride in being lucky enough to have been taught things from both worlds, her bright demeanor a direct result of being immensely grateful to have developed an ability to perform magic just in time.
Ever since she was little, she had always dreamed of flying. When she discovered she would be able to mount a broomstick and fly, Ochako felt pure gratitude towards magic. More so, she felt exhilarated to get accepted into Hogwarts—she was delighted with its rich and vast history and architecture.
The first thing Ochako did upon being sorted was gather everything she knew about the Quidditch team.
She worked hard, trained meticulously, and now, in her seventh year, it was already her second consecutive year of being the Gryffindor Captain. And she would do her best to win her house the match.
Floating to the side for a bit, she moved just in time for Shouto, one of the chasers in her team, to pass beside her in a blur.
The classic rivalry between Gryffindor and Slytherin made the air sizzle, the atmosphere thrumming with excitement. Looking at both sides of the houses cheering for their times, she started thinking how, although the war had made Hogwarts a kinder place to people that weren’t pureblood, the antique beliefs evolving through time, old house rivalries were still strong.
She felt content as her house rooted for her. To be considered one of the best Seekers they had filled her with pride.
As she observed the scene, the blonde Slytherin Captain moved to float beside her, his taunt clear in his gaze.
The other reason why she needed to win came full force in her mind.
Their competitive streak had been quickly getting out of control little by little so they had made a bet. Whoever won the match would be able to ask something out of the other person (of course, with certain conditions of what made them comfortable).
“Well, if it isn’t the dearest Captain!’’ he taunted, his voice closer than before. “Are you ready to get up early on Saturday, Cheeks?’’
Ochako groaned, and turned around to look him in the eyes.
“Can it be… a little later? I have to do something in the morning.’’ She grinned at him.
Katsuki chuckled. “Sleep?’’
She nodded, not even trying to deny it at this point.
“I thought so.’’ He rolled his eyes then hummed, attracting her gaze to his red lips. “Well, I’m available whenever you want to go.’’ His lips curled around the word ‘want’ in a way that made Ochako forget what she wanted to say next.
Trying to shake off her thoughts, Ochako opened her mouth but a roar from the crowd stopped her, startling them both a few inches away from one another.
“Captains, if you would please stop flirting in the court!’’ screamed Mina, one of Ochako’s friends, and the Hufflepuff announcer for the match. “Again,’’ she muttered offhandedly. Perking up, she announced, “Because the Snitch’s flying by!’’
Without a second thought, Ochako moved towards the blur of gold passing beside her. Katsuki wasn’t too far behind either and Ochako could feel his robe skimming against her calf. Ochako’s fingers grazed the fluttering wings of the Snitch and she swiftly caught it out of the air.
In the ground, she stepped out of the broom onto the grass. Immediately, her teammates came and Satou lifted her onto his shoulders, her giggle carrying through the air. As they cheered her on, she saw Katsuki waiting for her a few steps away.
After being put into the ground again, she came closer to him.
She smirked, and under his attentive gaze, her hands went to the back of her head as she pulled her hair out of her ponytail. “Ready to pay off your bet? I told you I would win.’’
“I didn’t doubt that, Cheeks.’’ The corners of his lips pulled into a smile. “What do ya want?’’
Ochako put her hand in her chin, feigning thought. At his impatient huff, she chuckled. “You have to treat me to a beer next time we go to Hogsmeade!”
He blinked down at her, not quite expecting her response. Recovering quickly, a smirk took a place in his face. “It’s a date then!’’
She nodded and turned around, a smirk dancing in her lips as she reached her teammates to go celebrate their victory.
Bakugou Katsuki found himself searching for the bright Gryffindor Seeker whenever he was in the dining hall.
Ever since they had become reluctant rivals, as Captains of their respective houses, the old houses rivalries carried into their dynamic. He loved to tease her, the way her cheeks puffed red, or the way her eyes shone brightly whenever she felt particularly elated. He had to admit he looked forward to their bickering more often than not.
Unfortunately for him, he wasn’t as subtle as he thought he was, and Mina, of all people, was too perceptive for her own good.
“You know what?” Mischief danced in her yellow eyes.
“What?” he barked.
She sat down next to him. “I know you usually stay in your room on the weekends, but you might want to, maybe… Go out more. Look around, you know?” Her grin sent shivers down Katsuki’s spine.
It was an expression that showed she didn’t.
“To the point, Pinky,” he grumbled.
“Well, one certain lioness Captain has started to embrace her muggle side more. And I’ve got to say her ass looks fantastic in whatever pants she’s got.”
His brain short-circuited. He took a deep breath and kept his gaze on his plate as he said, “Fuck off, Pinky. Why would that concern me?”
Mina giggled and stood up, not before quickly stealing a piece of treacle tart from his plate. Before he could protest, she twirled around and drawled, “Well, I just do my good job of informing you. You do what you want with the info. Peace out!” She started walking away.
Clenching his teeth, he let his fork fall and click against his plate.
“Fuck!”
Guess he would have to scroll mindlessly around the corridors on weekends now and maybe look around the architecture of the castle.
He hated to admit it, but Mina was right.
Fuck. How had he spent all this time without seeing Ochako dressed in her muggle clothes?
The fabric of her pants hugged her tightly and deliciously, making his concentration fly out of the window.
Fucking Mina. He had resigned himself to do his best to try to get through school without losing his composure to Ochako. He had spent too many times trying to ignore the wild thump of his chest every time he spent close to her.
It certainly was harder now, on top of their upcoming date that she hadn’t even mentioned since the initial invite.
His mind had leaped and referred to it as a date. But… he didn’t know where the next trip to Hogsmeade would be and he couldn’t help the thump of excitement coursing through his chest as he thought about her walking by his side, the enchanted candles that hung by the trees making her look ethereal.
Unfortunately, as the vision of her invaded him, he felt himself zoning out of his current conversation with Ochako.
She was talking but he didn’t quite catch what she had said, so once she stayed quiet, he realized she was expecting an answer.
He nodded eagerly, feeling embarrassed at having been so immersed in the thought of their upcoming date to hear her.
Ochako’s mouth pulled into a smirk. “Yes,’’ she continued, “and we have these small rats that power the cities by running on wheels underground.’’
Wow… that was a lot to process. “Really, Cheeks?”
“What? Are you questioning my knowledge?” Her brow arched and her mouth thinned, the amusement shining in her fixed gaze.
His frown—common in his expression, less so when he was around her—unconsciously deepened. Once he realized he was looking at her without answering, he tried his best to smooth over the expression. “‘Course not! I believe you.’’
“Okay, alright.” She hummed and continued drinking her pumpkin juice. Setting the glass on the table, she whispered, “And there’s this mouse that comes to collect teeth if you put them under pillows! And he gives you money in return.’’
Katsuki tried his best to steel his expression, not giving any sign of disbelief
Huffing, he said, “That’s absurd! Why would… Why..? It gives you money in exchange for teeth?’’
Ochako leaned towards him.e took a deep breath, the fragrance of peach coming from her making him blush slightly. Her mouth came by his ear and she mumbled, “People believe teeth have memories stored into them, so they get tucked away and preserved by the mouse. He loves memories.’’ She moved a bit away from him and continued sipping her juice like she hadn’t just told him one of the weirdest shits he had ever heard in his whole life.
One of these days, Katsuki resolved to verify if what she told him about the muggle world was true.
His eyes drifted to her, and his heart stuttered seeing the sweater that seemed too big on her again.
He wondered if he were to lend her one of his sweaters if it would look similar and if his reaction would be the same. But he guessed that if that happened, he would spontaneously combust. If he felt this way seeing her in normal clothes, he couldn’t begin to think how he would blush if he were to see her enveloped by his scent.
Someone would have to do him a favor and charm him if that happened.
They sat quietly for a bit, the breeze feeling nice against their skin. An alarm resonated then, and he realized he needed to go work with Mina in their project. Standing up, his mouth pulled into a frown.
“Cheeks, I gotta…’’
Ochako waved him off. “I know,’’ she interrupted softly. “Mina told me, don’t worry! Go! You know how she gets when she’s impatient!’’ A giggle came out of her mouth.
He nodded, thankful she somehow knew he had to cut their time short, not because he wanted to. “See ya next Saturday morning, Cheeks.’’ Katsuki stepped away with a smirk.
She huffed, and her finger pointed towards him. “You see, I…’’
“I know,’’ he cut her short and chuckled. “I was just kidding. Whatever hour you want, I’ll be there.’’
As he walked away, Ochako blushed slightly and brought the juice to her lips to try to hide it.
Katsuki frowned as he put his books down and sat next to Mina.
“Do you know where I can get teeth? Cheeks’ been telling me these muggle facts,’’ Katsuki said. “And I think she’s lying. So, I’ll put some teeth under my pillow to verify if the teeth mouse would come into my room.
Mina cackled, almost spluttering her water. “Bakugou, there’s no such thing! I bet she’s been coming up with that because you keep zoning out on her. Chakochip probably wanted to make sure you were paying attention.’’ She picked up her pen and put it in the space between her nose and her lips.
Katsuki looked around. Why would Cheeks lie to him about something so serious?! What if she had noticed, as Mina suggested?
He frowned. Well, at least he wouldn’t have to get teeth from wherever the hell one could get them.
He smiled fondly to himself, thinking about the amusement she must have had whenever he got lost into her and an opportunity to invent hilarious facts was presented.
Katsuki scoffed.
The wind was unrelenting and before hopping in the court, Katsuki noticed that Ochako shivered slightly when she wished him luck ( because he would need it, she had said with a smirk in her face). Without a word, he unwrapped his scarf from around himself and placed it around her neck, tying it tightly—Ochako honestly didn’t know if the red dusting her cheeks was because of the sudden warmth or because of his nonchalant gesture that left her feeling breathless.
She smirked. “Hope you don’t lose.’’
“I think I’m feeling lucky today,’’ he mumbled, “After all, you’re here today to cheer for me, right?’’ His smirk left her blushing profusely.
“I’m not here to cheer for you!’’ She huffed, gesturing wildly. “I love Quidditch in general.’’
“Okay, Cheeks, I’ll pretend I believe you.’’ He put his gloves on and fixed his gaze on hers, tilting his chin slightly. “Wish me luck, then?’’
Her cheeks puffed. “Good luck! I want to race you the next time I play against you, so you better win now!’’
Now, as the Quidditch match continued, she reminisced on how, before Bakugou Katsuki, Ochako never would’ve thought she would ever find herself amongst the Slytherin crowd—least of all while wearing his silver and green scarf.
All the previous warmth dissipated once she saw him crashing down to the ground once the wind changed its course and a Bludger unbalanced him, his broom falling to the side.
Her hand moved to the side as soon as she saw him hurtling towards the ground, but she took too long, perhaps due to the stuttering in her chest at seeing him fall.
In a blur, professors bolted towards him and checked his condition, immediately casting a momentaneous charm.
Katsuki was taken away and the game resumed, but Ochako found herself striding down the corridors towards the infirmary.
Out of breath, she entered through the threshold, and in the time it had taken her to arrive, he was laid down in bed, his cheeks scratched and tinged with blood.
“I’m alright, see?’’ He lifted his arm towards her, his bones seemingly in the place they should be.
Relief immediately washed over her. She couldn’t help the soft smile taking over her face if she tried.
“So careless. At this point, if you continue falling on your face, I’ll keep winning every time.’’ Ochako rolled her eyes.
“I won’t lose next time.’’ His grin was feral.
Ochako sat down in the chair next to him, tucking her feet under her. Pursing her lips, she mumbled, “Did ya know that in the muggle world, there’s a group of turtles and a rat that defeat crime?’’
“Does it?” Katsuki smirked, and shifted on the bed to look at her. His eyes glinted as he said, "I didn’t know, Cheeks. But tell me more.’’
“Well, their operation center is in the sewers and…’’
They spent the afternoon mindlessly chatting, about more non-correct muggle facts that they both knew he didn’t trust, about Quidditch, about their plans after graduating (unsurprisingly, they both had an interest in professional Quidditch).
When it was late and she needed to go back to her room and let him rest, she smiled softly at him and turned around.
Ochako realized she was still wearing his scarf when she entered her room.
A month afterward, Katsuki no longer had the scars. A silver lining of magic, indeed. It would’ve been goddamn obnoxious to treat had it been any other way.
Unfortunately for him, the harshness of winter had held them back from their scheduled Hogsmeade visits, making anticipation settle in his chest. He had half a mind to ask Ochako in a date near the fucking Whomping Willow if it meant spending time with her.
Nonetheless, he decided to wait. If they were going to have their first official date (official because it wasn’t like their mornings of training couldn’t be considered dates per se, he wasn’t that delusional), he wanted to make it as memorable as he could.
Meanwhile, he waited underneath the full moon. The time had come.
Bakugou Katsuki had been preparing to transform into an Animagus for five years now, and now he was prepared to try his transformation again, hoping this time it would work out. He had tried for a bit but never the second heartbeat that people talked about.
Despite the way he tried not to, he felt nervous and excited about which form he would take—if it worked. The idiots that called themselves his friends had a bet going on, most of their stakes were on the possibility of him being a wolf.
In one of the million classrooms that existed within Hogwarts, he steeled himself, a shiver slightly passing through his spine; after working for some time on it, he could admit it excited him. Katsuki had studied the topic extensively—the process of becoming an Animagus was fucking exhausting.
He hummed and looked at his reflection in the mirror. Katsuki intertwined his hands, took a deep breath, and exhaled.
Placing the wand-tip against his chest, he muttered, “Amato Animo Animato Animagus.” Then he took the potion he had placed on the table and drank it.
After a moment, he heard a second heartbeat deep within his chest, thumping loudly against his ribcage. His elation from it finally working was short-lived as an intense pain suddenly invaded him.
His eyes fluttered closed. Even if he had been conditioning himself to endure it, it was like his flesh was being slowly ripped apart.
In his mind, his Animagus form slowly materialized. He saw a small, fluffy creature, with an intense bark.
Fuck! A fucking yellow pomeranian. Was it a goddamn joke? For Merlin’s sake.
He took a deep breath. He needed not to fear it or show any kind of nervousness about it. Otherwise, all his hard work would be for nothing.
Suddenly, he opened his eyes and found himself stunned. Although he had expected to be small, he hadn’t expected to be head-level to the chair’s legs exactly.
A high-pitched bark came rippling from his throat, the sound reverberating through the room.
For Merlin’s sake. Who had he pissed off to deserve this? (Rhetorical question, alright? He took pride in all the people he had ever pissed off—which were a lot ).
Frustrated, he started barking incessantly in the room. Soon enough he moved, trying to run towards his wand when he stumbled upon his clothes and fell crashing into the ground.
That was how Ochako found him, plopped down barking at the mirror with as much anger as his small form could muster.
At this point, he was probably 50% rage and 50% trembling.
She giggled. He must look ridiculous . Katsuki hoped she didn’t notice it was him. He was flustered enough as it was around her, he didn’t need more reasons to be embarrassed.
He planned to never transform into an Animagus again.
“You remind me of someone,” she mumbled, and picked him up.
Katsuki yelped, struggling and barking against her hold to be left on the ground.
“But you’re a thousand times less grumpy!”
A high-pitched growl that wasn’t menacing at all came out of his mouth.
Ochako giggled, turning around to exit the room with Katsuki still in her hands, her soft fingertips threading through the hair of his head.
Katsuki’s chance to make a hasty escape came when Ashido effectively distracted Ochako by pulling her into a conversation about Quidditch, giving him an exit.
Although some part of him wanted to stay beside Ochako under the slight caress she bestowed upon his head, Katsuki knew he wouldn’t get another chance. So he leaped in the direction of the classroom where he had changed.
Once he entered through the threshold, relieved the door hadn’t been shut (because his current form wouldn’t have allowed him to open it any time soon), he positioned himself in the place where his clothes had fallen (he hadn’t yet mastered the craft of carrying his clothes with him through the transformation).
Picturing his human form, he did his best at grabbing his wand with his teeth, resulting in an uncomfortable position—he swore he would do his damned best to be able to transform without the need of a wand, but for the moment it would have to do.
The wand tip poked his chest and he waited, the image of his human form in his mind.
His heart started beating faster and he closed his eyes, feeling the current of energy going through him.
Just as Katsuki transformed back, a shriek came from behind him. Instinct made him twirl around quickly as he tried to cover himself with his clothes as much as he could.
His eyes widened upon noticing it was Ochako, who hurriedly turned around upon seeing so much of his skin on display.
He huffed and a warmth crawled from his chest to his face, his cheeks dusted pink. Trying to subdue his apprehension at her having seen him naked, he focused on the silver lining: even if he had a lot to explain about him being an angry little fucking pomeranian, she felt embarrassed enough at having caught him naked to not look at him immediately.
Katsuki finished dressing quickly and moved to approach her, extending his arm to touch her shoulder.
She gave a slight jump when his palm connected softly with the skin of her shoulder, staying still in her feet to not look at him, meanwhile, Katsuki tried his best not to show his embarrassment.
He cleared his throat. “Hey, Cheeks.’’
“Don’t! Put some clothes on first!’’ She yelped.
A low chuckle came out of his mouth and he said softly, “I already did. You can look now, Cheeks.’’
She must not have found an ounce of dishonesty in his voice, because, after a few seconds, she was turning around, doing her best to try to maintain her eyes on his face and not appear nervous. She failed miserably, though, since her fingers twitched and her pupils darted down towards his very naked torso.
Suddenly, she chuckled. His eyebrows arched at such a blatant expression of amusement from her. Although he had an inkling of the reason behind it, he still asked, “What’s so funny, Cheeks?”
Ochako snorted and stepped away. “Nothing, nothing. Just… I don’t see anything more fitting than you being an angry little pomeranian.”
A pout took place in his mouth, and he blushed, his hand moving to scratch his neck.
“You won’t tell, right?”
Chuckling, she shook her head and turned around, exiting the room.
“Hey! You didn’t answer me!” he shouted to her retreating form.
Ochako’s laughter became even louder.
After a week, Katsuki thought the news of him being a tiny creature would travel through the whole school.
Instead, nothing.
Whenever he saw Ochako, she behaved normally as always. If their relationship had been as one-sided as he had thought, she would’ve told his secret to everyone.
(His friends had certainly found it hilarious. At least, Mina hadn’t won the bet).
As he sat in the dining hall, he found himself staring at her.
Uraraka Ochako was cool as fuck. And not because she didn’t taunt him and humiliate him for something anyone would certainly find amusing, but she had always been fierce, challenging, and delightful; he was attracted to her and her sense of playfulness, competitiveness, and her smile.
He stood up with purpose and strode towards the Gryffindor table.
“Cheeks, go out with me.”
Ochako blinked up at him, mid-bite. Seeing Katsuki’s vermillion eyes looking down at her, his expression full of determination, literally made her choke on her bread and butter.
“Fuck,” he hissed, eyes widening.
Quickly, he moved towards her, his hand going around her back to try to stop her choking. His palm caressed her back and he passed her a glass of water by her side.
After Ochako managed to get a grip of her bearing, she looked up at him resolutely.
“You want to train? Now?”
“No!” He shook his head, maybe too vehemently. Fuck. Did he manage to fuck it up that bad? He cursed how bad he was at words. “Go out with me… on a date.”
He heard Mina splutter behind him and the chaos around the dining hall halter, but he decided to ignore them to settle his gaze in Ochako and try not to go crazier at the prolonged silence.
“Nevermind,’’ he added. Looking away, he murmured, “Forget I said anything, please.’’
She cleared her throat and put her fork down. “Actually,” Ochako started, and he felt his heart stuttered against his chest, “I was gonna ask you… to go to the Yule Ball with me. I wanted to include it in the bet.”
“What?!”
Ochako moved towards him and smiled softly. “I asked if you wanted to go to the Yule Ball with me?’’
He had been so worried about the prospect of going on a date to Hogsmeade with her, he had forgotten Yule Ball was coming soon.
Katsuki nodded eagerly. “Yes, let’s go together to the ball, Cheeks.’’
Ochako beamed at him and he couldn’t help but return her expression, his crimson eyes softening at the sight of her.
To go in to the Yule Ball with Ochako felt like a dream, yet he felt nervous as fuck. He hadn’t felt this way even when he first transformed into an Animagus (and turned out to be a fucking pomeranian).
As he took her hand, he felt mesmerized by the way she looked more than usual. Ochako usually shone brightly under the sun, but to see her under the lighting of the hall, with the lit candles flowing around her? It left him breathless.
“You’re beautiful.’’
Ochako blushed and looked him in the eye. “You’re beautiful too, Katsuki.’’ His cheeks dusted pink, not expecting her response to be so smooth.
Under the luminescent lights of the room, they moved to the center, hand in hand.
Katsuki’s suit felt tight on him, he wasn’t one to use such formal attire. His eyes locked into hers, asking for permission to place his hands around her waist.
They twirled around the room for a while but quickly found themselves stepping on the other’s feet. After a moment of fumbling around, he stopped moving, making them both falter.
“Fuck. Sorry, Cheeks.’’ His hand passed through his hair, the motion letting his nervousness known.
Ochako placed her hand on his wrist and nodded at him. “I’m really bad at dancing,’’ she apologized clumsily.
He hummed under his breath. Katsuki intended to give her the best date he could come up with. With that goal in mind, he said, “Fuck this. Let’s go outside, then.’’
“But the ball…’’ Ochako gestured behind her vaguely.
Katsuki shook his head. “Let’s go outside for a moment. Then we can dance if you’re still up for it.’’ He offered her his hand.
She nodded and moved closer, taking his outstretched palm.
He led her outside, the castle’s balcony being illuminated by the moonlight and they stood by the ledge.
Even as the coldness of the night fell upon them, his hand felt right holding hers.
Her eyes glinted underneath the moonlight.
“Sometimes,’’ Katsuki started, “when I look at the sky, I think about you and how mesmerizing you look as you fly, the way the power of the wind feels like nothing.’’ He turned around and locked his eyes with hers.
Ochako felt breathless, eyelids fluttering slightly as she processed his words. She stepped closer to him and said, “I love the thrill Quidditch gives me, you know?’’ Once he nodded, she continued, “But being by your side comes second to it. I truly haven’t felt as free and exhilarated as when we rush through the air.’’
The corner of his lips lifted. Grabbing her wrist, he met her stare, his lips parting slightly at the sight of her face being highlighted by the moon. He absently thought that, even in a world where Ochako didn’t have magic, she would have bewitched him just as much.
He leaned down, touching his forehead against hers and grabbing her by the waist. Ochako’s eyes fluttered closed as she intertwined their hands.
Katsuki hummed a low tune as they embraced under the moonlight, all the sounds that came from inside the ball feeling like nothing in comparison to the thumping of his heart beating against his ribcage.
Even in the coldness of the night, they found warmth in each other.
As they fell into a secure and stable relationship, Katsuki met the Gryffindor rooms. Secret hidden passages he had discovered had come in handy to sneak in.
“Katsuki!’’ She tried to draw away but his hand went around her neck, pulling her into a searing kiss again. Ochako lost herself in the sensation for a moment, his tongue sliding against the roof of her mouth and effectively making her forget about intruding steps that came closer each time.
A moan escaped her unconsciously and her eyes opened wide, coming down from the cloud his kiss had pulled her to. Right! The steps!
Her lips separated from his with a pop as she moved away from him, a trail of saliva connecting their red lips.
His eyes opened and a frown appeared in his face. She wanted nothing more than to erase it from his face. Before he could protest, she hissed, “Katsuki! Stop!’’
“What?’’ he muttered, still not willing to move further away from her. A thought occurred to him upon noticing her nervousness. “Wait. Are you alright, baby?”
It was frightening how a simple endearing name from him could make her heart flutter. “Someone’s coming!’’ She tried to keep her voice low. Katsuki’s eyes widened. “Do your thing! Or we’ll end up losing the house cup… Again!’’ Ochako huffed.
Katsuki startled. After he processed her words, his lower lip jutted as he snarled, “My thing? Stop saying that shit! You make it sound as if being an angry little fucker was the only thing I’m good at!’’ Scoffing, he moved away, crossing his arms.
“It doesn’t matter! Hurry up or we’ll both wish that was the only thing you were good at!”
Huffing, he murmured something about having spent five years figuring out how to be an Animagus for this shit. As he fully transformed into his Animagus form, flopping down and immediately ricocheting on the bed, the door opened.
“Here ya are!’’ Miruko grinned. Her eyes widened once her gaze settled into the dog beside Ochako. “Where… did that dog come from?’’
Ochako looked around the room, trying to find an excuse. As her eyes settled in the window, she yelped. “Well, I found it outside?” Damn, it sounded like a question. “I found him outside!” she repeated, her tone more clear.
“I’ll take care of it! Don’t worry about it.’’ Miruko waved off and leaned over the bed, picking up Katsuki. His bark started getting louder as he tried to get out of her hands. Ochako’s eyes widened at seeing Miruko grinning before she let out a loud cackle. “Wow, it’s a feisty one!’’
To Ochako’s utter surprise, Miruko barked back at Katsuki.
Ochako’s eyes widened as Katsuki went uncharacteristically quiet.
As Miruko turned around and went through the threshold, Katsuki in his dog form still in her arms as he barked incessantly, looking back at Ochako with a look she could most likely describe as pleading, Ochako gulped.
They were fucked. How would she get him out? If he were to transform in front of Miruko, the very strict rule of not having people from other houses—especially significant others—in the rooms had been severely breached.
Ochako sighed.
That year, Ravenclaw won the House Cup again.
A string started to glow from Ochako’s wand, slowly forming a figure.
Little by little, its faint light shone brighter than before, a round-shaped head the first thing that appeared. Slowly, pointed ears sat on top of that hair. The body and the air followed, finalizing with a small tail.
A gasp escaped Katsuki.
Even with its luminescent, silver form, he could see it: a small, round, and fluffy pomeranian running around in the air, opening its mouth in an action that reminisces a bark.
Ochako blushed, and after the form disappeared, her hands fell to the side with her hand still clutched tightly around the wand.
A loud cackle came from behind them, Denki doubling over in laughter. “This is fucking hilarious!”
He was soon joined by Sero, their cackles reverberating through the room.
Professor Aizawa, well-mastered in the business of their chaotic and annoying nature, frowned and turned around.
Despite the laughs they were having at their expense, Katsuki’s focus fell on Ochako, whose face looked surprisingly serene despite the mocking of his so-called friends.
“Shut the fuck up, idiots!”
Without the slightest intention of stopping, Denki braced himself against the wall, clutching his stomach as a few laughs left his mouth, stopping just in time to turn towards Katsuki. “Or what?” Denki’s brow arched, his eyes shining with unshed tears. “You’ll throw Uraraka’s Patronus my way?” A smirk made its way into his expression.
“Woof!” Sero imitated a bark, before doubling over in laughter again.
Katsuki looked at Ochako and he found himself strangely relieved at the fond smile on her face.
Deciding not to entertain further the cackling hyenas, he strode towards her.
“Ochako, I…’’
“I think it’s obvious by now.’’ She smiled sheepishly. “I love you, Katsuki.’’
He felt his heart stutter against his ribcage, excitement coursing through him. Even if her Patronus was a strong proof of her words, to have her utter those words to him was what he had longed for so long.
Smiling softly at her, Katsuki leaned down and brushed his lips against her cheek, the pressing of his mouth leaving her tingling and smiling.
Humming under his breath, he beamed at her. “Love ya too, Ochako.’’ His tone was serious, and his eyes were shining brightly.
Ochako stepped closer to him and wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tightly against her.
“Mine’s a pomeranian too...’’ he murmured against her ear.
Ochako groaned. “I find it cute though.’’ She bumped his nose.
As they held each other, they seemed to forget about everything around them.
Until another cackle broke out, Denki gesturing wildly at them. His eyes crinkled and, in between breaths, he managed to say, “Hilarious! A fucking pomeranian! BAKUGOU, NO! WHAT THE—’’
“Shut up, Dunce Face!’’
“I certainly thought we wouldn’t be exposed to this blatant flirting again, Mina, since their sexual tension was supposedly resolved. But... it seems like it’s just as usual!’’ Tooru hollered.
“I would like to kindly remind you,” Mina said from the cabin, “this place is PG-13! Please keep the awful eye sex to yourselves!”
“Bakugou, stop, for Merlin’s sake!’’
“For Merlin’s sake! In my… own classroom. 500 points from Slytherin! 500 points from Gryffindor!’’
The shout made them separate immediately, Ochako jumping far away from Katsuki. Although they tried to distance each other as much as they could, their clothes were skewed, their lips were red and shining with saliva.
Ochako tried to discreetly pass her hand against her chin to clean any trail of Katsuki from her face.
“You made it. You finally did it.’’ Hawks shifted, moving away from them. He looked constipated. “You… your obscenity just handed the Ravenclaws the cup right in their hands.’’ He shuddered. “Hope you’re happy.’’
“Can you… not take the points, then?” Ochako asked innocently.
“I’ve got my Slytherin pride, you know. But you broke it now. Please step out of the room.”
Katsuki and Ochako quickly tried to rearrange their clothes in a way that looked presentable enough. As they moved through the corridors, they couldn’t help the slightest blush from tingeing their cheeks.
Midway through the path that led them towards their respective houses, they halted at the same time, their eyes locking together as the realization dawned on them.
Fuck.
The Ravenclaws would win the House Cup yet again. And this time, it was their fault.
After graduation, Katsuki and Ochako found themselves playing Quidditch against each other again in the Quidditch World Cup.
Had it been anyone else, the spotlights in the stadium and the dome figure around them would’ve felt suffocating.
But Ochako soared through a sky full of stars and her right hand gripped her broomstick tightly with the ease of someone that had spent most of her life flying.
She floated above, momentaneously enraptured by the crowd cheering her on. Ochako relished in it, feeling warm at being able to still fly after all these years.
The breeze hit against her skin and Ochako grinned widely at Katsuki from the other side of the court, making him roll his eyes playfully.
When someone from the Chudley Cannons called for ‘Bakugou’ to get the Snitch, they noticed their mistake too late. Naturally, both Ochako (that had taken to be called Bakugou as if it were muscle memory) and Katsuki were alerted to where the Snitch flew towards. A race never seen before started in order to determine who would be the winner of the day; after all, their competitive streak never went away.
Flying by each other’s sides, wide grins were plastered on their faces as they reached out to catch the golden blur tantalizingly close to them.
Bakugou Ochako caught it with a smirk. As she raised her hand in victory, the gold of her wedding band glinted against the Snitch she held between her fingers.
Katsuki couldn’t help but grin, despite the fact he had just lost another game.
