The Grave Robbers' Chronicles Timeline ver. 003 31-December-2020, mostly Book 8 details
Before Humanity // Unknown Date
- A bronze/jade meteorite crashed into earth’s atmosphere; three large pieces landed in the following locations; Changbai Mountain; vicinity of Changsha; amd Tamutuo (Tamutuo). Fragments of the meteorite fell to Banai, Guangxi and Medog, Tibet.
- These meteorites were gradually discovered.
- The meteorites of Changbai Mountain were built into the Yin-Shang Emperor’s Mausoleum.
- The meteorites of Tamutuo were discovered by the Queen Mother of the West tribe, and the capital of her country was founded there.
- The meteorites of Changsha were discovered by the Fengshui master Qingwuzi of the Southern and Northern Dynasties, they built their tombs in those locations.
- These meteorites have two great powers. First, it can extend human life, and secondly, it revealed the “ultimate” secret.
2,000 BC
- A group of mysterious people (I’m still saying aliens) sealed the truth of the world: the “ultimate” secret under Changbai Mountain and built the Bronze Gate (青铜门) to guard it. And they themselves took the “corpse king longevity pill” and fell asleep in the falling jade (the bronze meteorite) of Tamutuo.
- NB: the “corpse king longevity pill” provided an incomplete form of immortality.
- The Queen Mother of the West (西王母) used the techniques left behind by the mysterious people in Tamutuo to establish her kingdom in the hills of the Western Regions, and its capital was built in Tamutuo.
- Using the techniques left behind/found within the meteorite she also obtained the knowledge of how to create corpse king longevity pill.
- The essence (toxins) of the “king” (a form of flying red insects that can kill humans) in the corpse king longevity pill will eventually makes its way into the human cranial cavity/brain. Immortality is obtained through the symbiotic relationship between humans and the “king” (toxins). However, if a person who takes the pill does not enter the meteorite / cover their body in a suit made from the meteorite (Jade Figurine/Armour), their body will eventually evolve into a blood corpse / forbidden woman.
- Queen Mother of the West began to study the method of symbiosis between humans and animals to achieve perfect longevity.
- Queen Mother of the West also domesticated some animals; the giant brocade snake and the smaller cockscomb snake; the snakes that stored and transmitted information.
1600 BC to 1046 BC
- During the Yin-Shang dynasties (商朝; Shang Chao (殷代; Yin Dai), a regime stationed at the bottom of the Changbai Mountain, discovered the secret of the Bronze Gate, and eventually perished. (Under the Heavenly Palace in the Clouds was originally a Yin-Shang imperial tomb. The Yin soldiers that entered the Bronze Gate were wearing Yin-Shang armour).
976 BC
- Sixth generation of Wang Jiman of the Western Zhou Dynasty ascended the throne and was known as the "King of Zhou Mu" (Zhoumu Wang; 周穆王).
963 BC-959 BC
- King Zhou Mu conquered the Western Kingdom; he negotiated with Queen Mother of the West. They seemed to have fallen in love.
- King Zhou Mu was presented with the meteorite jade and corpse king longevity pill, and was able to see part of the “ultimate” secret.
- In order to hide this “ultimate” secret and gain true immortality, King Zhou Mu used the secret of longevity as a smoke screen.
- King Zhou Mu recorded the secrets of longevity on Silk Scrolls/Books and scattered them in various ancient tombs (the Warring States Silk Scrolls/Books).
- He destroyed the rituals and music for burial customs and promoted the new burial customs – building of elaborate tombs with treasures and riches etc. This ensured that the tombs with his secrets and guidance would continue through history. It was hoped that the stories of treasure and immortality would lure thieves and tomb robbers from later generations, and that they would find the Silk Book so that they may fall into his plans to achieve true immortality.
- Before he "died", King Zhou Mu took the corpse king longevity pill and put on the Jade Armour suit, and waited for someone to activate the mechanism to revive him after a thousand years.
- NB: He placed a foetus in a dragon-patterned box. The foetus and King Zhou Mu would supposedly change simultaneously. The foetus’ changes affected the machine frame of the dragon-patterned box. When the number on the box showed 02200059, it indicated that the change/evolution of Zhou Mu's body was complete. Open the box at this time, and the location and information of King Zhou Mu’s tomb could be obtained. Basically, you get the map, you go seek the treasure and you accidentally unleash an immortal King who has evolved in these three thousand years to god knows what.
922 BC
- King Zhou Mu “dies” (he took the corpse king longevity pill), he reigned for 55 years and was buried in Ludi (now Guazi Temple in Shandong), in a Jade Armour. And waited for someone to activate the mechanism to revive him after thousands of years.
Post 922 BC
- A true wise man surnamed Zhang (张) who lived in Dongbei (Northeast of China) – when everyone was chasing immortality, he saw Zhou Mu’s true objective. He also went beyond the Bronze Gate and saw the “ultimate” secret.
- He received Tianshou (天授 // Heaven’s Mandate – look it’s literally Heaven Granted, so I’m going with a poetic style) Zhang decided to hide and protect the secret. The Zhang Family (张家) gradually became a long-lived family, survived throughout history, and went to the Bronze Gate to guard this secret at a fixed time. But the Zhang Family in exchange for their knowledge and longevity would lose their memory after every Tian Shou.
- The Zhang Family spent a long time building a replica of the Bronze Gate under the Medog Snow Mountain in Tibet. For thousands of years, they tampered with clues in the ancient tombs, and lured those who had attempted to find the “ultimate” secret to the trap of the fake Bronze Gate (the fake is extremely dangerous, and there are fighting corpses made in the image of King Wannu, and the technique of fighting corpses comes from the Guo Tong Jing, a civilization from thousands of years ago.).
Around 400 BC
- Iron Face/Mask Scholar (铁面生 // Tiemiansheng) of the Lu Kingdom saw the lie that was the secret of immortality, told the emperor of the longevity, and recommended a descendant of the Zhou Dynasty to explore the tomb of King Zhou Mu. The emperor named the selected individual as the King of Shang and made a ghost seal (which can be used to pass the underground palace). The emperor named the chosen one King Lu Shang, who would take the ghost seal to the tomb of King Zhou Mu.
- King Lu Shang found the tomb and forcibly dragged King Zhou Mu out of the Jade Armour, and wore the suit himself in order to survive / achieve immortality.
- King Zhou Mu becomes a blood corpse. (This fact will forever makes me laugh, the dude spent decades of his life literally re-writing history and cultures so that he could achieve immortality. And this little fucking upstart comes along and takes it away in well swoop).
- Iron Face/Mask Scholar and part of King Lu Shang’s army travelled to Tamutuo, they obtained the meteorite jade and corpse king longevity pills. They went to seek treasure, built a cave/screen at the "Bloodland" Jiafengshui (now Changsha Mangshan Biaoziling), and was buried there to seek immortality after death. (I’m actually unsure about this section. Somebody who knows better please contact me!).
Post 256 BC
- After the end of the Zhou Dynasty, the descendants of the Western Queen Mother Kingdom moved eastward.
- Most likely that they came to Changbai Mountain in search of perfect longevity. This eastward migration enabled the two civilizations to transfer information and most likely genetics (for example the human-faced bird statue in Snake Marsh, and the human-faced bird in Changbai Mountain.).
- After the Queen Mother of the West / her people came to Changbai Mountain, she continued her research into the symbiosis system of the longevity technique. There is a group of fan that theorised that King Wannu (蒲鲜万奴 Pu Xian Wan Nu) was their most successful experiment and lived the longest (however, this does not 100% fall in line with what occurred in Book 8). The monkey-mouth human-faced bird was probably also created then to guard the tomb.
1300 AD
- The people of Dong Xia (Eastern Xia) retreated to the foot of Changbai Mountain because of war.
- They saw King Wannu crawling out of the ground and regarded him as a god and established the Dong Xia regime. At the same time, the method of immortality was obtained, hence why the Dong Xia soldiers on the murals did not age.
- NB: When Wannu was chased by Peer Zhijin-Guyou, the descendants of Dong Xia moved underground and found giant scorpions/strange monsters living in the geothermal cracks of the earth. They were shocked, and then they joined the Jurchen myth and these new wonders together to form a new mythology/religion.
1366 AD
- 29th year of Hongwu - Wang Zang Hai was fortunate to be the Ming Taizu of the Ming Dynasty.
- Wang Zang Hai was made an envoy to Tamutuo, there he caught a glimpse of the secret of the immortality from the Queen Mother of the West, and even a hint of the “ultimate”.
1398 AD and after
- Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang dies. Wang Zang Hai fearing he would be killed escaped from/to the mountains.
- In Wang Zang Hai's later years (he was kept prisoner for 10 years) he was captured by the Dong Xia people who were made up of Manchu people, King Wannu was at the end of his life. Wang Zang Hai was taken to the Changbai Mountain to build the Heavenly Palace in the Clouds, Wannu’s Royal Mausoleum.
- Wang Zang Hai saw many things there and recorded those secrets in the copper snake fish with brows, and placed them in the three Dragon Veins mentioned in the Silk Book: Guangxi Reclining Buddha Pagoda, Shandong Lu Palace, and Xisha Sea Tomb to guide future generations to discover.
- Wang Zang Hai also obtained many of the Silk Scrolls/Books.
- The giant boat was used as a tomb and was buried in the rock cave on the reef of Qianli Shitang (now "Bowl Reef" in Xisha, commonly known as "Sandou Reef").
1680 AD
- Ancient city of Sizhou, Jiangsu, Zhang Ruitong, the then head of the Zhang Family, was assassinated. The conspirators literally broke a dam and flooded the whole city. The Bronze Bell held by the head of the Zhang Family was buried.
- NB: There is a room in the Zhang Family Ancestral Home (张家古楼), where various secrets of Chinese dynasties and the “ultimate” information are collected and kept. The Bronze Bell can calm your mind/soul and prevent the hexagonal bells placed outside the room from destroying your mind.
- This signalled the very gradual decline of the Zhang Family – the death of their leader and the loss of the Bronze Bell meant their secrets were locked away even from them.
- It is speculated that at this time, a member of the Zhang Family went to Banai, Guangxi and saw the tattoos on the local hunters / the Yao People. (The tattoos record the map of the captive Miluotuo on the Guyao National Highway). And that this person was preparing for the relocation of Zhang Family Ancestral Home, and they decided to improve their tattoos – became the Qiling.
1875 -1908AD
- Guangxu period, the Zhang Family had been gradually weakened and had to cooperate with those in power.
- The imperial architect Lei designed the Zhang Family Ancestral Home in Banai, items were moved there.
AD 1876-AD 1879
- Ding Wuqi drought.
- Changsha villagers became tomb robbers to live – exchange of treasure for grain.
- They become the Tao Sha Nan faction (淘沙南派).
1890
- Zhang Qishan (张启山) // Zhang Da Foye (张大佛爷) was born.
Before 1900
- Heibei LaoLiu (黑背老六) was born.
Around 1901
- Er Yue Hong (二月红 February Red) was born.
1900-1911
- The Kamba people in the snow-capped mountains mistook the fighting corpse in the fake Bronze Gate for the King of Yama, and they began sacrificing young women to the king.
- Tibetan doctor named Baima and a Zhang Family member falls in love and gave birth to a baby (Xiaoge) in Nepal, however, she was chosen as a sacrifice. After her death, she was buried under the Tibetan sea flowers for one chance to be able to speak to her son sometime in the distant future.
- Xiaoge was born in Nepal (this decade is the closest we can get to in regards to this birth. There is a lot in text information that sort of confirms this, based on when Foye’s father left home, the comments made in Sha Hai about the damn dragon-patterned box etc. but who the fucks knows – it could be as early as the 1890s).
- At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the feudal system was criticized, and under the mechanism of the Wang family, further division commenced within the Zhang Family.
- At this time, the number of 02200059 appeared on the dragon-patterned box of King Zhou Mu. The descendants of Zhang Family opened the box, took out the "immortal" baby from the Jade Armour, of course there was no living immortal baby, just a dead foetus. Zhang Family was declining and the Family itself was also splintering into different groups, they needed an example of the "perfect eternal life" to bring them hope and stabilize their beliefs. As a result, the core/upper members of the Zhang Family secretly replaced the baby in the Jade Armour with the child who was brought back from Nepal. They made the baby into a holy/sacred figure for the Zhang Family, and brought the Zhang Family together once more.
- Xiaoge would probably have been brought up with a very complete education and of course trained by the best in fighting and tomb robbing techniques.
- It is speculated that the Wang Family infiltrated the Zhang Family and revealed that the immortal infant was a fake. The entire basis of the Zhang Family beliefs collapsed, and the Zhang Family splintered into many branches.
- This impacted Xiaoge’s life dramatically, and he was left to be brought up by a person in the family. Officially it was stated it was at this point that the Zhang Family truly declined.
Post 1910s
- When Xiaoge was seven or eight years old, a group of Zhang Family members went to Sizhou in an attempt to recover the lost patriarch's treasure. Xiaoge was used as a blood bank (they would literally drain his blood) to fend off the dangers within the tomb of Scorpion. In the tomb an internal fight between the members broke out, Xiaoge was the only survivor, his adopted father died there.
- Xiaoge at thirteen went into the wild with Zhang Haike and other clan members. Later, he was able to enter the secret room of the Zhang Family Ancestral Home and learned about the Zhang Family’s mission and existence of the “ultimate” secret.
- At this point in time no one was willing to assume the responsibility as the head of the Zhang Family. Xiaoge being the strongest Zhang member had no choice but to assume the position.
1910-1912
- Banjie Li (半截李) was born.
1914
- Chen Pi Asi (陈皮阿四) was born.
1923-1924
- Er Yue Hong saved YaTou.
Before 1925
- Qi Tiezui // BA YE <3 (齐铁嘴) was born.
Around 1925
- Huo Xiangu (霍仙姑) was born.
1925 to 1927
- Chenpi Asi slaughtered the Yellow Sunflowers, and went south from the coast of Zhejiang to Changsha
- Er Yue Hong took Chenpi Asi as his student.
1927-1930
- Wu Laogou (吴老狗) and Xie Jiuye (解九爷) were born.
1931
- The descendants of the previous patriarch/leader Zhang Ruitong (Zhang Qishan's father – so the parentage is a bit confusing and I’m hoping the updated Old Nine Gate will have clarification or an explanation) were expelled from the main family by the Zhang Family because of his marriage with a person not of the clan. Zhang Qishan and some members of the Zhang Family fled to Changsha during the war of resistance against Japan.
- Changsha’s Old Nine Gate (老九门) families – during this era the Old Nine Gate were well known tomb robbers, and smuggled all sort of cultural relics. The whole criminal underworld knew that the weapons flowing out of Changsha would have inevitably passed through the hands of one of the Old Nine Gate families.
- They are called the Old Nine Gate because in ancient times all the major cities had Nine Gates, and merchants could only enter and exit the city through one of these gates. The Old Nine Gate liked the idea, and chose the title because in Changsha City you can only choose one of these nine families to conduct business with, there is no other avenue.
- The Nine Gate division – I’m simplifying this dramatically, somebody with better grasp of Chinese will have to deal with the poetic one liner poems to describe each tier, all I got is this:
- 上三门为官,军爷戏子拐中仙,正如烟上月。
- The top tier of the Old Nine Gate is well established, and their families are has a long linage. Their official status are those legitimate business families, however, they have a huge amount of power over politics and other facets of life in Changsha. These three families at the time had enough power to be considered small warlords.
- Zhang Qi Shan // 张启山 (张大佛爷), Er Yue Hong // 二月红, and Ban Jie Li // 半截李。
- 平三门曰贼,阎罗浪子笑面佛,正如杯中酒。
- The middle tier’s reputation is notorious; they are the young and greedy, thieves and cut-throats committing murder and looting. They are known for fighting hard, the live and walk among the mountains all day. They have many followers/apprentices.
- Chen Pi A Si // 陈皮阿四,Wu Lao Guo // 吴老狗, Hei Bei Lao Liu // 黑背老六。
- 下三门经商,美人算子棋通天,正如花下风流。
- The lower tier is the ones with the least stories/rumours. They are all merchants who traded in antiques, focusing on reselling. They are not weak but rarely do they actively participate in events. The middle and bottom tier have a fairly close relationship (for example, the Wu family and Xie family are related by marriage, and apparently this generation’s Xie, Wu and Qi leaders of the family were all close friends who grew up together), while the top and bottom tier have relatively few exchanges due to the fact they have little in the ways of a profitable business.
- Huo Xian Guo // 霍仙姑, Qie Ti Zui //齐铁嘴,Xie Jiu Ye // 解九爷。
1931-1932
- Er Yue Hong and Yatou married, Zhang Qishan married.
1932
- Chen Pi Asi was expelled from Er Yue Hong’s school/family.
1939-1940
- Yatou died.
- Zhang Qi Shan // Zhang Da Foye gained military power.
1945-1950
- After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War in 1945, Zhang Qishan entered politics. It was speculated that Zhang Qishan cooperated with the Wang Family in order to leak Zhang Family and Nine Gate secrets to the leader. Eventually Zhang Qishan worked for the "it" that controlled the Old Nine Gate. HOWEVER, it also became apparent that Zhang Qishan might have only done this to buy breathing room for Old Nine Gate and in fact did everything to protect them. Either way it is heavily implied that the ZF (refers to Chinese military and government) was "it" controlling the Old Nine Gate in order to find the answer to longevity. How much actual control the Wang Family had on the ZF is a big question mark.
- NB: The implication is that the Wang Family approached the then nascent ZF and revealed that the Zhang Family knew the secret of immortality, and it was because of this that the ZF was willing to work with the Wang Family.
- Qi Tiezui (Ba Ye) left China.
- NB: New Old Nine Gate chapters have indicated that Ba Ye left China to go to Europe, most likely to build networks and work on secret plans to assist Xie Jiu Ye and Wu Lao Gou. Ba Ye walked the middle line, working with both Foye and the Xie & Wu sides. (Of course he would, Ba Ye is awesome.).
1950s
- Zhang Qishan began to pay attention to the Zhang Family Ancestral Home.
- The “Zhang Qiling” Project might have staeted around this decade – all people named Zhang Qiling in China was found and brought in by Foye’s department.
- Zhang Qiling entered the hinterland of the snow-capped mountains in Tibet, looking for a way to close the dragon patterned box, and agreed with Lama Deren to meet ten years later. NB: I have read some notes that said Xiaoge came here around 1941. I’m too brain dead to find the exact source.
Early 1950s
- The Wu family robbed the Iron Face/Mask Man’s tomb in Changsha, stole the Warring States Silk Book.
- Qui Dekao betrayed the Wu family and called the Central Committee, which evolved into the famous Warring States Silk Book case, involving countless Tufuzi. A lot of people got caught by the government and killed.
- Wu Lao Gou’s father and grandfather presumed dead. His brother was turned into a blood corpse.
1952
- Qiu Dekao returned to the United States.
- The Old Nine Gate Family began to decline.
- Changsha was purged, Wu Lao Guo fled to Hangzhou and got married, Banjie Li’s whereabouts were unknown.
1954
- Huo Xiangu went to Hangzhou to chat with Mrs. Wu.
1956
- "It" ordered Old Nine Gate Family to go to Shangsi Guangxi to investigate the Zhang Family Ancestral Home site for archaeological reasons, but it was found that the Zhang Family Ancestral Home had already been relocated to Banai.
1960
- Xiaoge returned ten years later, Lama Deren was dead (presumably killed by the Wang family), destroying the Zhang Family liaison in the region. Xiaoge was still attracted by the charcoal stove at the entrance of the temple, and told an old lama at the Gila Monastery everything before he lost his memories.
- For thousands of years, Zhang's Family has tampered with clues in the ancient tombs in order to keep the Bronze Gate and related secrets from being discovered. They set up dangerous traps in these ancient tombs. In order to find his own memories Xiaoge had to go back and forth between the ancient tombs, to sort out the clues he left behind himself and awaken his memories.
- As this point the Wang Family has infiltrated almost all organizations including the ZF, they used the lure of the secret of longevity to gain political powers. They also had infiltrated the various families of the Nine Gate, and the Zhang Family. They learned their tomb-robbing skills. The only person who knows the “ultimate” secret behind the Bronze Gate was Zhang Qiling, the last leader/patriarch.
1960 – 1966
- Xiaoge went to seek out Zhang Qishan. The Zhang Family no longer had the people or the power to guard the secret behind the Bronze Gate. Xiaoge cooperated with the Old Nine Gate; an agreement was made that in exchange for Xiaoge’s help that the Old Nine Gate must each take a turn to guard the Bronze Gate. (HAHAHAHA. Being a bunch of thieves and scoundrels none of the Nine Game Family held up their end of the business. Also, I really want to know what went down between Foye and Zhang Qiling).
1963-1966
- Plans/pressure from the top for Zhang Da Foye (Zhang Qishan) to find the secret to immortality, he with the Old Nine Gate Family partook on the ‘largest tomb robbery in history’.
- In order to break into the Banai Zhang Family Ancestral Home, the group went to Siguniang Mountain in Sichuan with ZF forces led by Zhang Qiling.
- This excursion lasted for three years; they retrieved the Silk Books from the Warring States Period.
- On returning there was much infighting, deaths of many – forces started splintering. Those that on Zhang Qiling’s side and those that followed Zhang Qishan’s side fought, it was a shit-show and a bloodbath. This was the push for Wu Lao Guo to leave the whole fucking mess.
- Xiaoge was seriously injured and lost his memory. He was imprisoned in the Golmud Sanatorium.
1970
- Jin Wantang completed deciphering the Silk Books. "It" ordered Zhang Qishan to complete the exploration of the Zhang Family Ancestral Home; the whole team was wiped out.
1970-1976
- Heibei Lao Liu died.
1974
- Chen Pi Ah Si, who was nearly 60 years old, found the first copper snake fish with brows in the underground palace / Dou Jinger Palace of the pagoda in Guangxi. He was blinded by the Miao people.
- Qui Dekao was able to decipher the Warring States Silk Scroll/Book (mostly because of “it”), and organized the first exploration of the dragon veins (the mountains).
1976
- The original Ba Nai archaeological team died (the wording is that they were given a funeral as in they went to Ba Nai and what waited for them was death).
- Death of the Leader (MZD), ZF had a new leader to take over the longevity plan. The power of "it" still existed and the leader's body was preserved (MWAHAHAHAH).
Before 1977
- Black Glasses went to Zhang Family Ancestral Home and brought out the black gold knife/sword.
5th of March 1977
- Wu Xie was born. With his birth Wu Lao Guo basically started to push harder to get the Wu Family out of the Nine Gate and all of this shit. He started several plans rolling.
1978
- Xie Yuchen (XIAO HUA) was born.
- "It" assembled the descendants of the Old Nine Gates for the first time, disguised as an archaeological team, and went to the Zhang Family Ancestral Home in Banai to bury the Leader's body. (It was speculated that there was meteorite jade in the building that can suppress the blood corpse toxin).
- At this time, the descendants of the Old Nine Gate became two divisions - one group intend to conceal the secrets of longevity (Ghost Man, Chen Wenjin Group), and the other group intended to disclose the secret to the world (Wu & Xie.)
- The Wu family did not participate in this event, and Xie Jiuye began the first step of rebellion plan through Xie Lianhuan. The plan was to kill/get rid of the original archaeological team members at Banai and replace them with his own people.
- Chen Wenjin, Huo Ling and others escaped while those outside the Tower were all killed (killed by Pan Ma).
1979
- Xie Jiuye successfully replaced the archaeological team with his team. The underground funeral process (transferring of the Leader’s body) was not completed.
- Jiuye stole the coffin holding the body of the Leader.
- After it was discovered that Jiuye had taken the Leader’s body, ‘it’ began to hunt down the members of Xie Family
After 1979
- Xie Jiuye and his team and family were desperate, and took refuge with Wu Lao Guo in Hangzhou.
- Wu Laogou hid the Leader’s body in the Southern Song Dynasty imperial tomb, and used the fact they had the body as a bargaining chip.
- Fearing that this corpse and their plan would be made public, "it" left the Wu and Xie family alive.
- NB: I just want to take a moment here and appreciate how fucking badass Xie Jiuye and Wu Lao Guo to an extent was here. Basically, Jiuye stole the body of the MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN CHINA AT THE TIME. And because Wu Ye hid the body the Party CAN’T do anything, it is the literal gun over them. The mass scandal, the complete and utter public insanity it would have caused if this was let out would have literally sent China back into the fucking Cultural Revolution or worse, the fucking Warring States period. Like, I can’t even verbalise what a fucking amazing move this was. Like, holy fuck. Here ends my TED talk. Thanks for listening.
- Xie Jiuye continued to infiltrate into organizations and began to destroy relevant information, killing or replacing key personnel.
Around 1982
- Wu Sansheng (San Shu) went into the tomb of the blood corpse (in Baziling) alone, beating Qiu Dekao’s team.
- Qiu Dekao obtained the corpse king longevity pill.
- Soon after, Qui DeKao approached Wu Sansheng to cooperate.
July 1984
- The fake archaeological team was ordered by "it" to go to the Xisha Seabed Tomb. The composition of the team - Xie Lianhuan, Chen Wenjin and Huo Ling who was implementing Xie Jiuye’s plan, Wu Sansheng, Xiaoge who was rescued by Xie Jiuye, and the mysterious character Qi Yu (speculated that "it" inserted him as a spy.)
- The eve before the excavation - Wu Sansheng and Xie Lianhuan secretly went down to the tomb, they brought the person who planned to kill and replace Wu Sansheng with. Instead he was killed by Wu Sansheng.
- Xie Lianhuan and Wu Sansheng joined forces, after Wu Sansheng forced the former to tell him all of Xie Jiuye’s plans: They disguised the dead-assassin as Xie Lianhuan and threw the body into the tomb/reef.
- The body of “Xie Lianhuan” was discovered by the team, the real Xie Lianhuan disguised himself as Wu Sansheng, and in turn Wu Sansheng acted in the shadows to get shit down.
- NB: From the vision Wu Xie had at the Qinling sacred tree, it was inferred that Qi Yu was the eleventh member of the team, but was caught by Wu Sansheng. However, this is STILL speculation based on available information.
Around 1985
- The living members of the archaeological team were imprisoned in the Golmud Sanatorium.
1986
- Xie Jiuye dies (the most awesome motherfucker ever, saw through Foye’s plans, fought against the government from exterminating the Nine Gates, and started the plan of taking down the Wang Family).
1990
- Party (government) organised the seal/storage of archaeological materials from Banai.
- The surveillance was removed from the Golmud Sanatorium.
- Chen Wenjin and her team continued to use the nursing home as their base.
- They developed their research and established the video tape mechanism.
After 1990
- Wu family trained Wu Xie (吴邪) in the manner of Qi Yu's living habits. This included training Wu Xie to practice the Shou Jin / Slender Gold (瘦金体) calligraphy style. A calligraphy style invented by Emperor Huizong (宋徽宗, 1082–1135).

- Alone, Chen Wenjin decided to go to Changbai Mountain.
18th June 1993
- At the Heavenly Palace in the Clouds at Changbai Mountain, Chen Wenjin saw the “ultimate” (终极 can be translated as End Utmost as well).

- Book 3 Qinling’s Sacred Tree // Sacred Tree of Qinling (秦岭神树)
- Lao Yang, an old friend of Wu Xie’s tell him of the discovery of a tree made of bronze in Qinling, believed there was a tomb close to the tree.
- The introduction of mind controlling bugs the size of human heads, which controlled monkeys to attack them. Fucking monkeys.
- The Bronze Tree was larger than any plant that could ever grow in nature, Wu Xie and Lao Yang entered the Bronze Tree, and it was revealed one could use their mind to materialise a previous dead person. Lao Yang was a re-materialised version as his original self had died in the Bronze Tree. Lao Yang wanted Wu Xie to rematerialize his mother. Shit happens – giant snake fought giant half-snake-half-human being. Wu Xie ended up being swallowed by the half-snake-half-human being, and escaped by shooting it from inside its mouth. I’m not fucking kidding.
- In conclusion, Wu Xie survived; Lao Yang sent a photo of him on holiday with his now alive mum who might be evil. He also apologised and said that when you first rematerialize you have some memory issues. I kid you not.
- NOTE: Origin of the hexagonal bronze bells; dated back to the second half of Kingdom of the West Queen.
- Wu Xie’s blood could keep the mind controlling bugs away because he ate Qiling Blood Clot.
- “Xi Zhou" era (西周).
- Snake pattern on bell indicated it originated from the Kingdom of the West Queen.

Book 4 -云顶天宫 (The Peak Heavenly Palace in the Clouds // Heavenly Palace In/On the Clouds)
- Pan Zi on San Shu’s behalf created a team to go to Changbai Mountain; Wu Xie, Xaioge, Pangzi, Pan Zi and Chen Pi Ah Si. They are betrayed by Chen Pi Ah Si whom forms his own team. The two teams eventually meet up.
- Objective of this venture: locate the Heavenly Palace in the Clouds, somewhere in Changbai Mountain. It was believed that the tomb belonged to Dong Xia (Eastern Xia) kingdom and it was constructed by Wang Zang Hai (hey, look, it is the crazy ass jealous dick). According to Chen Pi Asi, the Nine Dragons Coffin would be in this tomb that holds the body of the King of Dong Xia.
- They eventually found a two-layer painting that depicted the war between Dong Xia and Mongolia. Dong Xia was defeated and its people killed.
- Dong Xia’s people was made up of the Manchu ethnic group, it was led King Wan Nu (10,000 Slave King), a title that was passed down the generations. It was a kingdom made up of youths.
- Xiaoge disappeared. Remaining group used explosives to blow up chunks of ice, meeting a foetus corpse/zombie. They found a very ostentatious tomb with a stone slab that had a stone turtle on it. It seemed the stone turtle screwed up all of their compasses; they destroyed the turtle, which revealed a jade insect that woke up thousands of house centipedes.
- A giant centipede of several metres length appeared, they escaped by luring it to a (still alive but unconscious) team member’s body strapped with dynamite. The explosion resulted in the death of the giant centipede.
- The explosion caused a hole in the ground, which Pangzi got dragged into by the foetus corpse/zombie. But they do discover that floor beneath led to the Heavenly Palace.
- After a series of other events; giant bird-owl-like creature afraid of the light, Wu Xie falling, and finding the correct route to the Palace via a message from San Shu, and then meeting up with A-Ning and her team.
- They stumbled across an unconscious San Shu, chased after the foetus zombie, got a note from Xiaoge telling Wu Xie that he has been to the main chamber, and Wu Xie shouldn’t for he couldn’t handle what was down there, and that the copper snake fish with brows were a lie.
- It was revealed A-Ning and her team was working for Qiu Dekao.
- They deciphered the copper snake fish with brows’ message - secret recorded by Wang Zang Hai, he wanted the Han people/descendants to discover the secret and to keep it out of the hands of the Manchu (Dong Xia) people.
- Wang Zang Hai was a prisoner by the Dong Xia people for 10 years.
- He was led to the Bronze Gate and discovered that the fourteen generations of King Wan Nu were not human. They were creatures that came out from Gate. The Bronze Gate would open when the previous king dies, and a new King would come out of the Gate. If the Gate were to be opened at any other time, otherworldly/hell fire would explode from it, and the Gate was guarded by creatures that were half bird and half mammal.
- Wang Zan Hai’s hatred of the Zhang Family developed once he discovered he couldn’t reach and use the “ultimate”.
- In the main chamber they discovered the enormous Bronze Gate, and the Nine Dragons Coffin, which was guarded by nine sleeping gigantic centipedes chained together.
- A corpse with twelve arms woke up from the coffin and walked toward the Bronze Gate in an attempt to enter it. Fearing the corpse would open the Gate and release fire that could kill them all; Pan Zi strapped dynamite to the corpse and blew it up.
- They get attacked by bird-like creatures, Wu Xie and Pangzi stayed behind to fight, just as it seemed they were going to lose, the sound of a horn vibrated throughout the area and the Bronze Gate suddenly opened.
- An army of Dong Xia ghost soldiers appeared and marched through the gate. Xiao Ge was amongst the soldiers, and smiled at Wu Xie and said, “See you later”. Once the ghost army marched through the Gate, the Bronze Gate closed.

Book 4 & 5 蛇沼鬼城 (Shezhao guicheng // Snake Marsh Ghost City / Ghost Kingdom Of The Snakes)
- Wu Xie received videotapes sent by Xiaoge from Golmud.
- A-Ning came to Wu Xie with similar videotapes from the same place send by Wu Xie himself also from Golmud. The tape contained a person who looked like Wu Xie.
- Xiaoge, Heiye, Wu Xie, A-Ning, Pangzi, Pan Zi all travelled into the desert to find the Snake Marsh Ghost City.
- The encountered many dangers; corpse eating bugs, centipedes, snakes of all sorts, monsters, etc.
- A-Ning was killed by a cockatrice (chicken crested snake).
- The team met Chen WenJin, and entered Tamutuo.
- They find murals depicting the history of the West Queen-Mother’s kingdom, and found a giant bronze meteorite in its depth. The meteorite is so large that it has its own tunnel system.
- Chen Wenjin climbed down the meteorite, Xiaoge followed her; five days later they still had not reappeared. Pangzi and Wu Xie stayed behind to wait, three days later Xiaoge climbed out of the meteorite but seemed to be suffering from memory loss.
- Wu Xie and Pangzi took Xiaoge to a hospital for care.
- NB: It was revealed in Chong Qi the book, that Chen Wenjin stayed behind inside the meteorite, and in fact had contacted the still living members from the archaeological team all those years ago. The meteorite was the only thing that could have controlled the spread of the toxins being released from the corpse king longevity pills. The members who managed to escape the tomb in Xisha had consumed all those pills years ago to escape the tomb, but later found that without the protection of the Jade Armour (made from the meteorite) they would evolve to either into a blood corpse or a forbidden woman. So, the surviving members of the team went to Tamutuo, they buried themselves in gravel mounds in the meteorite and waited to be woken up in 2,000 years, as that is how long it would take the meteorite to process the toxins. It could potentially turn them all into immortals. In addition, a large cocoon housing the sleeping people who built the Bonze Gate also in the meteorite. It had been sleeping there for 4,000 years, when Xiaoge came down to find Chen Wenjin he seemed to silently communicate with what was in the cocoon. In doing so, Xiaoge seemed to have gone mad/lost his memory. In addition, the real San Shu came to visit Chen Wenjin, sometime after Wu Xie had left, for the last time. It was heart wrenching, because Chen Wenjin spent years waiting for San Shu to come rescue her, only to realise that he wasn’t coming, so she rescued herself. San Shu spent decades of his life searching for her, had created this image of her in his mind. And at the end of it all they both had changed too much to be the person they loved, and yet neither regretted it. I was near fucking tears over the wording of this section.
Book 6
阴山古楼 (Yin Shan Gu Luo // Yin Mountain Ancient Building // Ancient Mansion Down Under)
- Wu Xie and Pangzi decided to assist Xiaoge in getting his memories back.
- They find out through a photo that Xiaoge’s home was located in Banai, Guangxi, the three decided to go there.
- They found Xiaoge’s house and a block of iron hidden in a wooden box.
- The three met Yun Cai, a woman that Pangzi falls in love with, and they also met Pan Ma, a suspicious old man who decades ago killed the archaeologists that came here only to find them all alive the next day (the replacement).
- Xiaoge’s house and all its content was burnt down over night.
- The three eventually realised that there was something beneath the lake, at the bottom of the lake was a village and in the centre was the Zhang Family Ancestral Home.
- They encountered shadow creatures but eventually managed to escape, and met up with Er Shu and Pan Zi who were searching for them, fearing for their lives.
- Wu Xie found out that Xie Lianhuan had been pretending to be San Shu off and on through the years, and that Chen Wenjin was part of the initial team that went into the lake.
- Iron Triangle stopped Qui Dekao’s team from inspecting the lake by stealing their gear, and returned to Beijing to prepare for further exploration of the Zhang Family Ancestral Home.
Rest of 2004
Book 7 Qionglong Shiying (邛笼石影).
- Wu Xie met Xiao Hua, Huo Xiangu and her granddaughter Huo Xiuxiu.
- At Beijing, the Iron Triangle crashed the auction at New Moon Hotel.
- They had to flee the auction with the Jade Seal.
- Huo Xiangu and Xiuxiu met with Wu Xie to let them know of the past: Old Nine Gate and their involvement with Zhang Qiling, and her suspicion that the Huo Ling who returned from Banai was not her daughter, but a copy.
- Huo Xiangu revealed that there was a secret in Sichuan that could assist with the exploration of the Zhang Family Ancestral Home, which was revealed as the Zhang Family Ancestral Burial Tower.
- They decided to work together; Xiaoge, Pangzi and Huo Xiangu would head to Banai, while Wu Xie and Xiao Hua would go to Si Gui Nian Mountain, Sichuan to the tomb that the Old Nine Gate attempted to break into in 1966.
- Wu Xie kept in contact with the team in Banai; there are three walls in Banai that the team have to get through, and the clues are located in Sichuan. The first two walls are passed, but Wu Xie and Xiaohua made an error with the clues for the third wall, and at this point they had lost contact with the Banai team.
- Wu Xie went to Changsha to find Pan Zi to help get to the bottom of the lake in Banai. However, San Shu’s underlings would not listen to Wu Xie. Xiaohua suggested that Wu Xie impersonate San Shu.
BOOK 8 大结局 // The Grand Finale
- Wu Xie still impersonating San Shu organised a team to go to Banai. The team consisted of: Wu Xie, Pan Zi, Xiao Hua, Huo Xiuxiu, Ya Jie (San Shu’s lover), and other followers.
- At Banai Wu Xie as San Shu teamed up with Qui Dekao and his team, QDK handed the Xiaoge’s blade to Wu Xie telling him that it was found in the hands of one of QDK’s team. His body was half liquefied.
- Wu Xie found an unconscious Pangzi with the map carved into his belly that showed the way to Zhang Family Ancestral Burial Tower.
- Qiu Dekao’s team got attacked by mountain cats (wild cats? Lynx?) that night, and amidst the chaos they find a person who looked exactly like Wu Xie in QDK’s team. They kidnap the doppelganger and interrogated him, he revealed that he had been familiarising himself with Wu Xie’s personality and behaviour and had visited Hangzhou often. He managed to knock Wu Xie unconscious. When Wu Xie woke up he met up with a kidnapped Pangzi, and the two met a man who was so liquefied that Wu Xie dubbed him Ghost-man.
- Ghost-man had worked with Sanshu in the past, and through the years had killed everyone who tried to break into the Zhang Family Ancestral Burial Tower.
- Ghost-man was also named Zhang Qiling and over thirty years ago was brought here under the orders of Foye (the Zhang Qiling Initiative – finding all the people named Zhang Qiling in China), that the shadows guarding the Zhang Family Ancestral Burial Tower was named Miluotuo, the inside of the property was filled with toxic smoke, and that anyone who entered would turn to liquid. Ghost-man was one of the original members of the team with Chen Wenjin who survived; all other members were either killed in the Zhang Family Ancestral Burial Tower or killed by Pan Ma.
- In fact Ghost-man was recused by Pan Ma and had been hiding in these mountains for the past 30 years.
- The original inhabitants of these mountains were the Yao people, and their strongest hunters had complicated tattoos on their bodies that contained the map of the entire mountain.
- A Han person became part of the Yao people, learned how to make the tattoo made modifications to it, and eventually it became the Qilin tattoo of the Zhang Family. The tattoo is exactly like that of Xiaoge’s.
- Miluotuos ate living creatures, humans and all. They excreted a stone-like substance that trapped their food inside and would feed on them overtime. (Like spiders really). The Zhang Family raised the Miluotuos in order to collect the stones they created for construction purposes.
- The Miluotuos are attracted to head, and were afraid of acid/high acidity, so the Zhang family put a layer of acid-substance around the mountain.
- A trap was also set in place; a stream of acid flowed around the mansion, which blocked the MLT from entering the manors, but it also exuded an acidic smoke that liquidised living things on contact. It was how Ghost-man’s body became half liquefied.
- It is also revealed that Zhang Qiling was a title given to the head of the Zhang family. And that it was that person’s role to carry the bodies of the Zhang Family to their resting place.
- Wu Xie and Pangzi managed to get into the tower. They managed to break through to the fourth level of the Tower, each level was filled with strange objects, tombs and traps.
- First Floor; acidic dust, and four giant columns in the middle carved with the Qiling tattoo.
- Second Floor: thousands of iron statues to be buried together with the dead. It was theorised that these statues were remains of MLTs.
- Third Floor: thousands of steel boxes hanging from the ceiling. Every box contained a right hand with extra-long fingers, a sign that these hands all belonged to Zhang Family members.
- Fourth Floor: huge room that divided into thousands of small rooms. Each room contained a coffin, and each coffin had a plaque that summarised the person’s life. Only those who had achieved greatness for the Zhang Family were buried in the coffins. The remaining – only their right hand were kept in the boxes on the third floor.
- The Zhang Family had great influence throughout history, contributed to the dynasties and were in turn protected by all sort of people and power throughout Chinese history. Their biggest influence seemed to be over the Northeast of China, close to Changbai Mountain.
- They found a room that was lavishly decorated but looked it had been raided. The room belonged to Zhang Ruitong, who was selected to become Zhang Qiling at 19-yr-old, and died due to memory issues.
- ZRT also happened to be Zhang Qishan’s (Zhang Da Foye) grandfather.
- They deduced that Foye had raided the tomb, had taken two hoops and a sabre, which was probably Xiaoge’s black sword.
- They finally found an unconscious Xiaoge with half of the team dead (Huo Xiangu was among the dead), while the other half was dying due to the toxic gas.
- Pangzi and Wu Xie made the decision to rescue Xiaoge, Wu Xie decapitated HXG’s head with Pangzi’s help so that they could bring her back to Xiuxiu. They rescued Xiaoge from the Zhang Family Ancestral Burial Tower via a river, survived a coffin with a mummy, and found a dead Pan Ma.
- They finally reached a cave of silk nets with hexagonal bells hung on it and toxic gas appearing. Pangzi carrying Xiaohe made it through. Just when Wu Xie was about to try navigate through the nets. He head Pan Zi, who was stuck between rocks. Pan Zi told Wu Xie that he would protect him as his final act. He would shoot out the bells that blocked Wu Xie’s path. Wu Xie made it through safely, and Pan Zi ended his life with the gun.
- Look I still fucking cry every time I read this part because Pan Zi was all, “Don’t look back, keep moving forward, Xiao San Ye.” It was fucking amazing.
- Qui Dekao saved them, Xiao Hua had been injured, Xiuxiu had collapsed on seeing the head of her grandmother.
- The two hoops from Zhang Ruitong’s coffin were removed by Xiaoge and he gave them to QDK, saying that QDK had fulfilled his purpose.
- Xiaoge then informed them that he has to go on the rest of the journey alone.
- Yun Cai was found dead, killed by Ghost-man whom she had been selling information to.
- Wu Xie returned to San Shu’s house and found out that a mysterious person had been secretly communicating with San Shu for years. Wu Xie found out the person lived in the basement of the house, he broke into the basement and was caught; the person spared Wu Xie’s life because he had owed Wu Laoguo a favour.
- Wu Xie realised that the basement was actually located under the house next to San Shu’s house. A house which had been rented out 19 years ago and had been mostly empty. Wu Xie found the number to call the owner of the house only to discover that the number belonged to his grandfather.
- The mysterious person called Wu Xie to tell him that he had left him a letter that would reveal many secrets.
- Wu Laoguo had bought out all the land around San Shu’s house. Only WLG and San Shu knew of the person. The person’s father had shared the same goal as WLG and San Shu in annihilating the enemy.
- The father of the person was the one who sent the replacement fake team to Banai to replace CWJ and Huo Ling’s team in Banai.
- The original team had wanted to bring a body into the Zhang Family Ancestral Burial Tower, but the fake team stopped and instead brought them back to Hanzhou. The body I still hidden somewhere in San Shu’s house. (LOOK, IT IS PRETTY OBVIOUS THAT THE MYSTERIOUS PERSON IS XIE LIANHUAN and his awesome dad is XIE JIUYE).
- All evidence and the body was going to be destroyed at 9.45 AM the following day.
- Wu Xie had been trained to have the same behaviour and mannerism as a person named Qi Yu (we still don’t know what role Qi Yu’s plays in this whole fiasco).
- San Shu couldn’t destroy the enemy on his own, so he had set up the whole series of events by luring Wu Xie into his first adventure. The enemy had thought that Wu Xie was Qi Yu. Wu Xie was essential to destroying the enemy.
- The following day the whole area had been burnt down.
Beginning of autumn in 2005
- Xiaoge travelled to Hangzhou to bid farewell to Wu Xie.
- He headed to Changbai Mountain once more, and of course Wu Xie followed.
- Xiaoge left one of the Jade seals with Wu Xie, and told him to come and find him if Wu Xie still remembered him in ten years’ time. This is where Wu Xie found out about how the Nine Gate Families had promised Xiaoge that they would guard the Bronze Gate when the time came in exchange for Xiaoge’s help. We all know that was a tonne of horseshit.
- And here is the famous line that sealed the pingxie ship (So, this line wasn’t part of the official release but apparently was added afterwards. EXCEPT I SWEAR I REMEMBER READING THIS LINE) :
- "用我一生,再换你十年天真无邪."
- Translation - "Using the rest of my life to grant you ten years of carefree life and innocence."
17- August- 2005
- Xiaoge knocked Wu Xie unconscious, and entered the Bronze Gate.
- Wu Xie returned to Hangzhou.
2010
- Cang Hai Hua // 藏海花 // Tibetan Sea Flower novel begin.
- Wu Xie followed the steps of Xiaoge’s life: from when he was a child all the way to Medog.
- In Medog, Wu Xie meets "Zhang Haixing" the Wang Family member who infiltrated the overseas branch of the Zhang Family.
- The overseas branch of the Zhang Family needed Wu Xie's blood to find the bell to enter the secret room of the Zhang Family Ancestral Burial Tower.
- The book was never finished, and I haven’t reread to double check facts, so just realise the book ended in a cliff-hanger.
Around 2014
沙海 / Sand Sea novel begin
- This was the conclusion of three generations of plotting by the Wu and Xie Family to take down the Wang Family and the “It” that has been controlling their fates.
- People die, a lot of people die.
- Li Cu, the kid that has a similar genetic makeup as Wu Xie (able to take the memories of the messenger snakes).
- This novel was not finished either, and honestly the amount of plotting and double crossing is so in-depth that I don’t have the energy to type it up. I will say that Wu Xie by the end of the ten years was a fucking wreck; he spent two years learning how to fight under the tutelage of Heiye, cut himself 17 times on the forearm (each cut when he failed someone), got surgery on his nasal cavities so he would lose all sense of smell, poisoned himself repeatedly with snake venom. All the while plotting the take down of a two thousand year old cult that has been killing and controlling the fate of his family and those he loved. What he did wasn’t just for Xiaoge, that would be cheapening what he did, but it sure is part of it. Wu Xie can’t repeat that level of sheer genius again, that single minded drive to the sacrifice of everything else. Hell, it is why in Chong Qi Wu Xie questions himself on how the hell he pulled off what he did in Sha Hai.
- A quote by Wu Xie about how the fuck he survived those ten years:
- “那十年,与其说是自己撑下来的,不如说是我爷爷,我三叔,两代人计划到了极限,最后由我完成了最后一步。”
- Translation: “Those ten years, instead of saying I carried the stress and pressure myself, it is more truthful to say it was my grandfather and my third uncle, two generations of the Wu Family planning to the extremist of the details. I just walked the final step.”
17th August 2015
- Ten years later, Zhang Qiling returned from beyond the Bronze Gate.
2016
- Spring Festival- (The King of Fishing) Wu Xie finds his own solution in life.
2016-2017
- (Blind Tomb) The last tomb robbery for Heiye.
2017-(重启 //Chong Qi // Reboot)
- Wu Xie spat out the Qiling blood clot that he had swallowed in the Palace of Lu.
- Wu Xie's disease was cured but he still has lung cancer. ETA: As per Erushi's comment - it doesn't explicitly state cancer, and most likely it is more that Wu Xie's lungs are still damaged from toxins that he inhaled through his years of tomb robbing. However, lung cancer has much angst potential.
- In a vision a doppelganger (Qi Yu?) told Wu Xie to find them at Warehouse 11.
