Chapter Text
His apartment greeted him with desperately craved silence as Green came home, a stressful first week behind him, and yet so many more to follow. Summer break quickly made him forget how busy he was in the city. Even though this school year shouldn’t nearly be as bad as his last, he wouldn’t hope for any relief. College things needed to be done, his bills needed to be paid, and alongside all this, he still wanted to have a life. Maybe two or more weeks, and then he would be back in the old rhythm. Just a little patience was all it took, but Green didn’t have any of that right now.
His heavy feet dragged him into his room, and the door closed behind him with little to no grace. Once inside, his bag lazily hit the floor for him to fall face first into his bed, the mattress squeaking loudly under his weight. The sheets swallowed his loud exhale of relief, his body utterly unmoving in its current position. Just. Relaxing. Settling down.
Finally…
Seconds went by, maybe minutes. An hour might have passed as well. With how fuzzy his head felt, Green wasn’t entirely sure. Almost no food and too little to drink over the day were starting to get to him. Eventually, he rolled over, clumsily pulling his phone from the back pocket of his pants. How many missed messages would there be? Too many, probably. The rough overlook over his dashboard showed group chat exchanges, certainly on the recent assignments. In between, he noted a message from Zelda and another from Shadow. Nothing out of the ordinary, or?
Huh? What’s this?
Then, he stumbled over a notification from Loftwing. Oh right, he had already forgotten that he had signed up there. Dating apps usually weren’t his type of thing, but after a little bit of nudging from Red’s side, he had decided to give it a chance. His first few attempts to get in touch with someone ended up fruitless. Either they weren’t his type, or they already skipped five steps ahead and asked for a quick fun session, often accompanied by nudes and dick pics. Right now, he didn’t expect anything different to happen. Why even bother? He might as well delete the app right away. Why waste so much time looking for the needle in the haystack when he could just go clubbing, meet people, and have a reasonably high potential of something coming out of it? It seemed like the easier option. But despite expecting to be disappointed again, Green still opened the app, a chat popping up. One last chance. He would give the app one more and then just leave it be if it was yet another miss.
Blue… Before his eyes could read what had been sent to him, he looked at the name and tapped at the person’s profile, then their picture. His gaze lingered for a second longer than usual, and another one, and another one, until he embarrassedly realized that he couldn’t tear his eyes away. Well-built. Blond. Pretty blues. Handsome face. Actually, not really his type at all, or maybe he just hadn’t known yet that this was exactly his type of guy. Most of his romantic arrangements with males so far had never gone beyond anything else than a date at best, and he could count them all on one hand. He also never really put much prominence on looks yet. But this guy? He was looking incredibly fine.
Oh wow… Normally, men didn’t leave that strong of an impression on him. It took him a while to warm up, but he… Damn, Green instantly felt woozy just looking at him. That didn’t happen often, so it meant something. This one seemed worth exploring. Okay, he would give it a try.
Let’s see. Pronouns he/him. Bisexual. Age twenty-one. Second year at the Hylia State. Likes sports and hanging out with friends. Hmm, seems pretty ordinary to me. Green swiped into the chat without needing further information. This could be something if only...
[You don’t happen to look for a quick fuck, right?]
His hopes were tainted immediately as he read the message at last. The internal frustration bubbling in his chest reached peak heights. What was it with insanely good-looking guys only being out for that one thing? It just had to be too good to be true. A part of him wanted to delete the app right here and there, but his disappointment manifested in a strange, newfound boldness that ultimately made him respond to Blue’s question. Or was it actually a proposal? He didn’t know.
[Well, hello to you, too. You know, I usually have a couple of dates before going into bed with people. So no, not really.]
He contemplated on adding if he supposedly looked like decent fuck material but reconsidered last second before sending the message. Nothing would come back from this. By now, he knew how it went. Waiting was a vain effort. However, Green was proven incorrect as he noticed the three little dots above his message bar blinking up before he could swipe out. Blue was actually responding. Huh, that was new.
[Good thing we agree on that. Sorry for being so blunt. I’d rather know who I’m dealing with right away instead of starting a conversation that leads me nowhere. So yeah, hello there! How do you do?]
The next few seconds passed with Green dumbly blinking at his phone, unable to comprehend what had just happened. This guy, Blue–incredibly handsome Blue–genuinely just wanted to chat? With him? No second thoughts? How weird. What were the odds?
A big grin slowly appeared on his lips, his fingers itching with anticipation. Heh, not that he would complain. This could be something, after all.
Green eventually got himself to reply, indulging in the exciting feeling for a little longer before getting his fingers to move.
