Chapter Text
"So, Uraraka, do you wanna go out later?"
'Excuse me?'
He rouses himself from his half-slumber (he sleeps with one eye open, unless he is in his own bed while surrounded and crushed by two large and heavy cats) and peeks through his black locks. It's lunchtime, the class has been dismissed. It seems the only occupants in the room are himself, his number one Problem Child, and Ochaco Uraraka. Neither of his kids- his students are aware he is awake and watching.
Why are they still here?
"Oh… Sorry, Deku. The girls and I are having a sleepover tonight," Uraraka replies with an apologetic smile. Midoriya visibly slumps before he recomposes with a touch of sadness in his smile. Then, he starts to shake in his shoes while biting his lips.
"C-Can I uhh… Can I uuhh…" the boy stutters out incoherently, dripping in sweats from sheer nervousness. "Can I follow you where you're going r-right now? Because my mom always told me t-to follow my dreams…"
…
'I'm sorry, what?'
Midoriya did not just…
Uraraka suddenly giggles loudly, pairing with a blush tinting her cheeks. He could feel his right eye twitching in disbelief. Really, she would fall for such bad pickup line? Either she sets her bars very low or she has deep bias when it comes to Midoriya.
It's more plausible on the latter. It's not exactly a hush secret that she has a crush on the Problem Child, and Midoriya also returns the feelings. The staffroom had even putting a bet when they will start dating, and it seems like he is winning ('Suck on that, All Might. Midoriya might be your successor but I knows my Problem Child the best').
"With your Quirk, you can essentially fly, right?"
"In a sense, I guess?"
"Then did you invent the airplanes? Because you seem Wright for me."
'Oh my-'
He stifles down the groan that is threatened to break through his throat as Uraraka giggles some more. He doesn't want his kids- his students to know that he is listening, and certainly don't want them to know how much the pickup line (or just pickup lines in general) is so horrendously bad.
"You sap!"
'He is not.'
"I'm in the mood for pizza. A pizza you, that is!"
'Kid, please stop.'
When he notices that they start picking up their bags and heads for the door he quietly sighs in relief. At last, he could save his ears from a terrible assault and nap peacefully. But even after they close the door behind them he could still hear Midoriya's voice; muffled and faint but he still hears it.
"If you're the pie, I am the cream."
He slams his head against the hard tiled floor and successfully knocks himself out.
"Excuse me, Mr. Aizawa?"
He pauses in his grading looks up at the green haired student standing beside him. The boy is smiling brightly and his eyes glittering, surrounded by sparkles that rivals Aoyama (and that is nothing to sneeze at).
"What is it, Problem Child?" he asks as he takes off his reading glasses and puts it on the recently cleaned table (he came into the dining room just in time as his class finished dinner, and the reason he grades in the dining room is to keep an eye on them). Midoriya somehow gets a tad brighter as his smile widens even further.
"Uraraka said she'll be free tomorrow." He raises an eyebrow. Why is he telling him this?
"Oh, and?"
"I'm asking for your permission to take her out on a date tomorrow night!"
It takes him an embarrassingly long time to realize that Midoriya is asking for permission to leave the school ground tomorrow night, and not for permission to take Uraraka out on a date.
'She is not my daughter,' he thinks to himself with an internal scowl. Why did he think such thing even though he cares about her as if she is his own no matter how hard he tries to deny it whenever he is confronted by it?
Then he realizes he is being quiet a little too long and Midoriya starts to tremble from nervousness.
"Where will you two be heading?"
Midoriya gets impossibly brighter. Then he rambles off where they will be at, what time they will leave the dorm, what they will be doing, and then some more. He is going full detail on everything. It gives him a peace of mind, seeing how his Problem Child has gotten it all figured and planned out.
"I wanted it to be morning; it's safer that way, but she and I couldn't clear up our schedule for a date in the morning, and tomorrow night is the only time she is free. And since it will at night time, it is without a doubt that we are needed to be accompanied by a staff member just to be safe. It will be awkward to have a teacher with us trying to be discreet while Uraraka and I are on a date and we are mentally preparing ourselves for the extra company but-"
"Midoriya."
"Yes!" he squeaks out when he realizes he rambled a little too long.
"Don't worry about having a staff accompanying you tomorrow. You two enjoy your time together."
"Wh- Bu- Ar-" the boy stutters, clearly unexpected that they will not be accompanied tomorrow and that they can be comfortably alone together. "A-Are you absolutely sure, Mr. Aizawa?"
"Are you questioning my decision?" Midoriya jerks before straightens up into an erect posture like a soldier.
"No sir, Mr. Aizawa, sir!" A smile threatens to break onto his lips but he manages to hold it back.
"Good. I'm letting you two off tomorrow just this once and nothing more. Now go on then, off you go."
"Thank you, Mr. Aizawa, sir!" Midoriya bows before he saunters off with lightness in his steps, almost gliding across the floor. He releases a sighs, watching his Problem Child go before turning back to the grading papers on the table before him. Donning his glasses once more, he uncaps a red pen and returns back to where he had left off.
He could already hear Mic screaming into his ears for letting his kids free and that he does care about them, and that he has a soft heart after all. He releases a long suffering sigh just at the single thought before frowning at himself.
'Students. Not my kids.'
"We're heading out now, Mr. Aizawa!"
"Don't get into troubles."
"Yes, Mr. Aizawa!"
"Behave yourself out there, both of you."
"Yes sir, Mr. Aizawa, sir!"
"And bring her home no later than nine o'clock sharp."
"Okay, dad."
"Don't push it, Problem Child."
"You're heading out now, Mr. Aizawa?"
"Early patrol tonight."
"Uh huh."
"Don't question me."
"Yes sir."
It's a total coincidence that today he patrols a new area and that he has to start early. It's definitely coincidental that Midoriya and Uraraka are currently dating around the area he is patrolling. It's an absolute coincident that he is on the same streets as them.
'They seem pretty happy,' he muses as he watches them giggling from the rooftop, crouching at the edge. Not having a looming chaperone might have taken quite a load off of their shoulders.
He is out of the topic. He is not their chaperone. He is merely patrolling the area.
He then straightens up, puts on his goggles before jumping off from one rooftop to another, blocks ahead of the couple. He keeps an eye out for any criminal activities. It's essentially killing two birds with one stone with an added benefit; he's doing his job while keeping the work away from his kids ('Students'). And with the work away from them, they are essentially safe from harm.
'There.' A group of thugs are currently running away from a store, thankfully too far from his kids for them to react. Quick and without hesitation, he jumps off from the roof and swiftly lands before them, stopping them from running away.
Not even allowing them to utter a single word, he quickly takes them out with swift ease seeing that they are just normal civilians. He handcuffs each and every one of them before looking up at where he knows Midoriya and Uraraka is coming from.
'Good, they're not here yet.'
And by time they arrive, nothing will be out of place.
He still needs to act quickly though. Not wasting any time, he wraps the criminals with his scarf before he catapults himself to the rooftop, bringing them along with him. He needs to take them to a police station, but the nearest one is more than ten blocks away.
He doesn't have the patience and energy to carry the group there and then return back here in less than fifteen minutes. And no, he will not admit that he doesn't want to be too far away from his students.
So he takes out his phone and quickly texts the group chat that contains all the heroes that are patrolling the area, informing them about the thugs, where to find them and telling them he has a pressing matter to attend with. Then he puts it away and peers down the edge, waiting.
When he sees the couple walking down the side road, he quietly releases a sigh of relief.
He's not even a block away from before when he comes across another hassle, thankfully not as bad as the previous one. It's nothing big, just a couple of thugs stalking an old lady (like why? She's just an innocent granny). He still wants his students to have work free time, and they are too close to his liking. He needs to be sneaky to do this quietly.
Thankfully being sneaky is his specialty.
Tying one end of his scarf to a pole, he quietly slides down his scarf with his hands, dangling upside down right above where they will walk down past him but out of sight. He lets the old lady passes peacefully. As soon as the pair about to pass him he quickly wraps the remaining of his scarf.
"Ga- Urgh!" he wraps up one of them a little too late.
"What was that?"
'Crap!'
With his strength, while still dangling, he throws both criminals upwards with a grunt. The rooftop is too high, but the flag pole is tall enough to keep them out of main sight. He quickly climbs up his scarf before Midoriya and Uraraka could make their appearance. Once he is close to the thugs he knocks them out so they couldn't make any noise that draws attention to them.
"Hello?"
He freezes in his spot, minimizing any sounds he makes. He risks looking down, watching as the couple appears around the corner. The way they stand seems they are expecting to come across a villain, ready to fight.
"Ma'am? Are you okay?" he hears Midoriya asking, which reminds him of the old lady the criminals were stalking. Looking back at her, he notices that she had fallen over and her grocery is scattered. She must've gotten spook by the thug's sudden outburst.
He quietly sighs in relief, now that the couple's attention is on the fallen lady. He watches from above as they tend her, kindly assist her back to her feet and gather her grocery. Then they stay with her until she reaches her destination, which is only a block away from right where they are. He listens as the lady pinches their cheeks and comments how they are "such a cute couple" and earns her a blush from them.
He releases another sigh when the couple enters another building, just another block away. They have arrived to their destination, safely and stress free. He turns his gaze to the thugs hanging right beside him. Taking care of them might take a while to finish.
It's definitely not an excuse to stay and wait for his kids to finish.
'Students. They're my students.'
"Well, well. If it isn't Deku and Uravity."
He tenses up.
He has just taken down another low effort villain before he catapults himself up. He is currently hanging off on the edge of the rooftop right in the shadow when he hears that ominous voice. Peeking up, he sees the villain is currently looking off in the short distance, right in the park where his students are currently at.
'Mutant type, this might be a bit difficult,' he concludes after assessing the villain. He needs to take him out quickly and quietly. He's about to crawl up onto the rooftop floor when the villain suddenly jumps into the air. 'Crap!'
Without thinking twice, he throws his scarf towards him. Once it is completely wrapped around the villain before he could lose altitude, he pulls him back on the rooftop. The villain slams onto the ground and he quickly jumps on top.
"Get off of m- Mhm!"
He wraps the villain's mouth before he could utter more words as he struggles to apprehend him. Being physically enhanced, the villain knocks him off and manages to loosen the scarf from him. They both quickly get to their feet and sizing each other up.
"Who are y- Mmh!" The scarf is back around his mouth.
"Could you shut up?! My students are on a date!"
"Gah!"
He tenses up when he heard the startled yelp from Midoriya. Did this villain have other people too?
Filled with adrenaline and giving up on being sneaky, he winds more of his scarf around the villain before throwing him into the air and bringing him hard down on the ground, cracking it. Without giving a second chance, he jumps and kicks him in the head, effectively knocking him out. Then he jumps off from the rooftop, throwing his scarf towards a streetlight to swing himself faster to where his kids are at.
'There!'
"Uraraka!" he shouts, eyeing the girl who is lying on her back on the pavement, covering her face with her hands. She removes her hands when she hears his voice, revealing her very red face and a shocked look.
"Mr. Aizawa!?"
"Where's Midoriya?" he demands before his feet could even land on the ground, Quirk activated and scarf floating and looking around for a trace of his Problem Child ('Please let him be safe'). At his question, Uraraka twitches and her face somewhat gets redder.
"Uhh… Uhm…" she stutters.
"Uraraka!"
"He's…" She then points at a direction. Looking up, he watches as his Problem Child slowly drifting upwards, curling into a fetal position and hides his face in his hands. He relaxes and his Quirk deactivates seeing that his kid ('Student') is safe, but now he is confused.
"Why is he…?" He gives Uraraka a confused look. She instead looks away, completely refused to look at him in the eyes as her face gets an even deeper shade of red. His frown deepens before he starts to connect the dots.
Uraraka is lying on her back on the ground (she still is). Both she and Midoriya are heavily blushing. Looking around he notices a quite sizeable pebble is very close to Uraraka's feet. Then hearing Midoriya's startled yelp from-
He takes a deep breath. He takes off his goggles and lets it hangs around his neck. Then buries his face into his palms and quietly groans into them. He recovers quickly and turns his attention to his student who is slowly rising further into the stratosphere, still hiding his face in his hands. He quickly snatches the boy with his scarf and brings him down, grumbling the whole time.
"I got all worked up over you two's accidental kiss. Problem children are what you guys are."
"Mr. Aizawa? Why are you here?"
"I patrol this area."
"…Isn't your areas supposed to be around-"
"Shut it."
