Work Text:
Izuku sets up his camera blearily through half lidded eyes, squinting at the lense as it comes into focus on his puffy face. He shows the camera a small smile, and tries his best to wave.
“Good morning, everyone.” He whispers as he steps out of his bedroom where Shoto was still fast asleep in their bed. “I’m doing a vlog for this week's video because I actually have a lot to do today, and I wanted to take you guys with me.” He says, walking into the kitchen and setting up his tripod on the counter.
“But first, breakfast.” He sighs, and begins taking out the ingredients for a quick breakfast for him and Shoto. “I’m not making anything special, by the way. I’m too tired for that.” He chuckles sheepishly as he cracks a few eggs into a bowl and begins beating them.
“Shoto really likes American inspired breakfast for some reason. He’s weird.” Izuku giggles softly, making small talk to the camera as he continues on with his cooking.
Half way into plating the food onto two plates, his boyfriend comes stumbling out of their room, eyes still swollen shut with sleep.
“Oh, Shoto’s awake.” Izuku grins at the camera, as his boyfriend walks into frame, wrapping his arms around Izuku’s waist and nuzzling his face into his neck.
“G’morning.” Shoto mumbles into his skin, making Izuku squirm.
“Morning. I have to leave soon, so let’s hurry up and eat.” He says, turning his head to place a quick kiss on Shoto’s head.
His boyfriend grumbles as Izuku unravels his hands from around his waist to pick up the camera and his plate of food. “Where are you going? You didn’t tell me about any plans.”
Izuku smiles shyly at the camera at his boyfriend's protectiveness. “Going out with Kacchan. Really last minute plans, I swear.” He explains as he sets his plate on the kitchen table.
“You’re ditching me for Bakugo?” Shoto deadpans, joining him on the table with his own plate of food.
Izuku gapes at him. “ You have work. And I won’t even be out that long anyway, at least I don’t think I will. Kacchan is very unpredictable.” He says, setting the camera up in between the two of them. “Say hi to the camera, Sho.”
His boyfriend blinks at the tripod, and softly frowns in confusion. “Why are you filming so early?” He asks as he shovels a spoonful of eggs into his mouth.
“I’m doing a vlog of my day for this week’s video!” Izuku chirps, quickly eating away at his plate of food. “Kacchan said he wanted to meet up at a café, so I’m not gonna finish this. He’ll probably kill me if I don’t get anything at the shop.” Izuku sighs, and then stands up from the table.
“I’m gonna go get ready now. I’ll be back in one sec.” He says to the camera before turning it off.
Shoto looks up at him with a small pout. “Do you actually have to leave now?”
Izuku smiles softly, and leans down to give him a quick peck on the lips. “I do. You know how Kacchan is about being punctual.”
Shoto rolls his eyes. “You owe me loads of cuddles when you get home.”
He agrees softly, and plants one more final kiss on his boyfriends forehead, before leaving the kitchen and walking back to his room to pick out his outfit for the day.
“Here’s my outfit for today’s trip.” Izuku says, pointing his camera at the full length mirror in his room. Dating Shoto came with a lot of perks. One being gaining a fashion sense. He thinks he looks pretty good in his light brown monochrome outfit.
“Now it’s time to head out. But first, let’s say bye to Shoto before he leaves for work.” He says into the camera, and walks out of his room to find Shoto sitting at the kitchen table, scrolling through something on his phone.
“I’m gonna leave now. I’ll see you later.” Izuku says, and leans down to kiss his boyfriend's cheek.
Shoto nods and smiles softly, looking him up and down. “You look cute.” He compliments, and reaches over to give Izuku’s free hand a soft squeeze. “Be safe.”
Izuku flushes slightly at all the attention, but nods regardless. “I will. Love you, bye!” He says as he walks towards the door.
“Love you.” Shoto says back, and he sends him one last smile before closing the door.
“Alright,” He says into the camera. “We’re off to the station. I’m not gonna record any of that because.. I’m too awkward to record around other people, but I will once I’m with Kacchan!” He says, and then turns off the camera.
He checks the time on his phone and lets out a small squeak of alarm. His train was almost at the station.
He books it the rest of the way.
“Okay, I’m back! And I’m with…!” Izuku attempts to point the camera at his childhood friend, only for him to place a palm over the lense.
“Don’t you dare point that damn camera at me.” Bakugo growls softly from across the table. “Why are you even filming now anyway? Thought your stupid channel was about you and your dumb boyfriend.”
Izuku’s pretty sure that was Kacchan talk for ‘ Is everything okay?’
He turns the camera back onto him with a small sigh. “Well it’s not, and you’d know that if you watched my other videos. And I’m filming a vlog for this week’s video, since I have things to do today.” Izuku explains, for the third time that morning.
Bakugo scowls at him. “Am I not your only plan for today? You got other people you need to see, hah?!”
Izuku sips on his drink calmly. “I was gonna go grocery shopping. You can come with, if you want.”
“Hell to the no.” Bakugo answers stiffly, and takes an aggressive bite from his apple pie.
Izuku goes unfazed, and shrugs. “Is Ochako busy? Maybe she’d like to go with me.”
Bakugo squints at him. “She’s busy with me. Stop trying to steal my girlfriend, Deku.”
Izuku rolls his eyes. “You know, she was my friend before she was your girlfriend. And I really do want someone to go with me shopping, I can’t carry all the bags by myself.”
“What about your shitty boyfriend? Why isn’t he helping you?” Bakugo accuses, and Izuku reaches over to softly smack his hand.
“Shoto has work, you know this. I’m taking Ocha with me, she doesn’t need your permission to go out.”
Bakugo groans. “What will it take for you not to steal my fucking girlfriend? I have something planned for tonight, and I really don’t need any shitty nerds ruining it.”
Izuku’s curiosity piques. “ Oh? What are you planning?”
Bakugo’s face turns an interesting shade of pink. “None of your fucking business.”
He huffs a sigh. “If I turn off the camera, will you tell me?”
Bakugo twitches. “No.” That means yes.
Izuku quickly switches off the camera and leans in closer to the table. “Spill.”
His friend rolls his eyes dramatically. “It’s nothing amazing. Don’t overreact or I will leave you here alone. ”
Izuku nods excitedly.
Bakugo sighs loudly, and looks around before getting closer to the table.
“ I’m going to propose .” He whispers, and Izuku -for the life of him- can’t maintain the scream that almost comes out of his mouth if it weren’t for Bakugo slapping a hand over his lips.
“Shut up, Deku! I don’t want people to recognize me!” He reprimands, and Izuku pushes his hand away from him, a bright grin taking over his face.
“Kacchan.” He whispers happily. Bakugo glares at him with an unimpressed look.
“I don’t want to hear what you have to say.” He says, and Izuku does not care.
“I’m so happy for you. She’s definitely gonna say yes, by the way. She’s been talking about marriage for a while now.”
“Deku.” Bakugo snaps, a bit too loudly. He ducks his head when a few people turn to look at their direction. “Shut up, or I will throw you out the window.”
“Can’t I be happy for you?” Izuku pouts.
Bakugo frowns. “You can be happy after she says yes.”
“Well, she’s gonna say yes, so I can be happy.”
“God damn it, I hate you.”
That’s Kacchan talk for ‘ Thank you’ .
Izuku does end up leaving Ochako alone for the night. He hopes to receive a call from her later that night when she has an engagement ring on her finger.
He smiles softly at the image in his head, and almost bumps into a display case of flowers if it weren’t for his friend.
“Izuku, get your head out of your ass.” Hitoshi grumbles, leading the shopping cart away from the flower section and into the foods.
Izuku rolls his eyes playfully. “Sorry. I’m just thinking about, like, a million things right now. Which reminds me, I have to record for my vlog.” He says, and lets go of the shopping cart handle to grab for his camera he was keeping safely tucked away in his bag.
“Do you mind being on camera?” He asks, pointing the lense at his friend who stares at him, unimpressed.
“I don't, but we’re gonna end up being here until closing time if you don’t hurry it up.” Hitoshi drawls, leading him down the aisle again.
Izuku shakes his head and smiles at the camera. “Hi guys, Kacchan made me stop filming earlier but we’re back with Hitoshi!”
He hears his friend snort in front of him. “You were out with Bakugo? Isn’t he too famous for us commoners now?”
Izuku rolls his eyes.
Seriously, Kacchan becomes Japan’s hottest model and suddenly people think he’s too famous for his high school friends.
“No, actually. We went to a café earlier, and he didn’t complain about the quality like an actual rich person would.” Izuku tuts, and then adds, “You’re one to talk, Mister video game developer. ”
Hitoshi scoffs as he throws a bag of marshmallows into the cart, something that was definitely not on Izuku’s shopping list. “That doesn’t make me famous.”
“But you are rich.” Izuku points out, remembering the very expensive gift Hitoshi had gotten him for his birthday last year.
“I’m comfortable. ” He says. “And besides, aren’t you, like, super popular on Youtube?”
Izuku flushes, but still grins at the camera. “Not super popular, but I have a decent following.”
“A million followers is more than a decent following, by the way.” Hitoshi says, and Izuku glares at him.
“Whatever. We aren’t here to discuss how famous my friends are. We’re here for my weekly groceries.” He says, and walks ahead of Hitoshi to grab a packet of strawberries.
“We’ll see you guys in the next clip!” He says into the camera, before shutting it off.
They continue on with shopping until Izuku’s sure he has enough food for the week.
“Okay!” He cheers, once he’s in the passenger seat of Hitoshi’s car. “We’re done shopping, and now Hitoshi’s driving me home.” He grins into the camera as his friend drives down the street.
“Is your boyfriend home? Haven’t seen him in a while.” Hitoshi says, his eyes focused on the street.
Izuku nods his head yes. “He should be home by now. Speaking of boyfriends, how’s Denki-kun, by the way?”
Hitoshi’s demeanor switches from tired, to happy in a matter of seconds. “He’s good. Busy writing up new jokes for his tour.”
Izuku’s eyes widen. “That’s right! He’s going on tour across Japan! That’s so cool!” Then he looks at the camera. “Make sure you guys support Denki-kun!”
Hitoshi scoffs fondly. “He has enough fans as it is, don’t send yours to him.”
Izuku laughs as they pull into the driveway of his house. “Time to unload the groceries. My least favorite part about shopping. I’ll see you guys after the transition.”
Izuku cuts the camera and groans. “I really hate unloading.”
Hitoshi chuckles and points his attention to his boyfriend who was now standing outside the front door of their home.
“Shoto!” He chirps, mood immediately a million times better. He hops out of the car and skips over to his boyfriend, falling into his chest. “Missed you.”
Shoto wraps his arms around his waist. “Missed you more. Who’s with you?”
Izuku pulls away from the embrace, and grins back at his friend who was already bringing in his groceries. He’s an angel. “Hitoshi.”
“Hey, Todoroki.” He says as he walks by them,
“Shinso.” His boyfriend says, and looks down at Izuku when he’s in the house. “Why didn’t you call me to go shopping with you?”
Izuku smiles sheepishly. “Thought you might’ve still been at work. I asked Kacchan to go with me, but he said he’s got something planned for tonight.”
Shoto hums, and hugs Izuku from behind as Hitoshi walks back out of the house with a bag of marshmallows. “Left all your groceries in the kitchen. Call me if you ever need a chauffeur.”
Izuku laughs as he walks back to his car. “Thank you for coming with me!”
Hitoshi waves a final time before pulling out of the driveway and driving off down the street.
Izuku lets out a puff of air. “I’m exhausted.” He sighs then turns to face his boyfriend head on. “How was work, by the way?”
Shoto leans down and presses a kiss to his lips. Short and sweet. “Boring.” He offers, and Izuku giggles.
“How’s your vlog going?” He asks, leading them into the house.
“Pretty good!” Izuku smiles, and takes out his camera to update the viewers on his location. “I have to finish up the outro, and then I’ll be free. Cuddles, remember?”
Shoto smiles tiredly and places a kiss to his cheek. “I love you.”
Izuku blushes a bright red at the sudden affection.
“I love you, too.”
