Work Text:
Jungkook was humming as he was driving to his little angel's kindergarten. Today was the usual pick up. He was the one to pick up little Joonie today and he didn't mind at all. Picking Joonie up was even one of his favourite things to do after a stressful day at work.
Thank God that his little angel’s kindergarten isn’t that far from his workplace. Jungkook continued on to hum to some popular boy band on the radio before he made a slight turn and smiled.
He had arrived.
The young father parked a little to the bushes before he got out of the car, seeing as the gate was open and kids were rushing out of the little kindergarten.
The young man smiled as soon as he saw his son was talking to the teacher before the teacher saw him and urged his son to look to the side.
Jungkook smiled, waving to his little Joonie as soon as his son turned to him.
The little angel instantly beamed at the sight of his father and quickly thanked his teacher before rushing over to his parent. Jungkook giggled and walked closer, telling Joonie to slow down and beamed as soon as his son ran to him for a hug.
He hugged the little pancake and kissed his cheeks.
"Appa!" Jungkook giggled
"Yes, little angel? How was today, hmm?" His little angel instantly smiled as wide as he could, his adorable eyes widened. Jungkook smiled as he led the little angel into the car and shut the door before he got himself into the driver's seat.
"Today was great, Appa! Mrs. Lee taught us numbers!" Namjoon told him as Jungkook readjusted his side mirror. Jungkook let out a little 'wuuu!' and started the engine.
"That's great, baby! What numbers did you learn?" Namjoon hummed, a finger on his cute chin as he began recalling today's lessons while Jungkook merely watched with fondness at his son's cuteness as he began driving home.
"Hmmm, I think it was 1 until 20? Oh, but I got it all right, Appa!" Jungkook hummed.
"Did you now?"
"Yup! I got them all down and Mrs. Lee was so proud she gave me candy~ It was so good!" Jungkook chuckled, his smile widening.
"My little angel's so smart~! I'm so proud of you too, baby!" Namjoon beamed at the little praise and gleefully giggled before he quietened down and played with his fingers.
Jungkook hummed as he drove, focusing on the road until he heard his son calling for him. Jungkook glanced through the side mirror and hummed.
"Appa, why isn't my family name the same as yours or daddy's? My friends all have their dads' family name on them but why am I different?" For a minute, Jungkook was silent. He couldn't wrap his head around how his little 5 year old was asking this question.
Then again, 5 year olds were quite smart and he knew far well how intelligent his little bean was so he couldn't simply avoid the question.
"How about … hmm … how about we talk about this with daddy, pumpkin?"
Namjoon tilted his head.
"Why? Is it because it's a … hard adult question?" The young father giggled, nodding.
"Yeah! It's a hard adult question that needs both daddy and appa to answer so let's wait until we get home, okay?" His little boopable junior nodded, leaning against the back seat as he stared at the wonderful scenery while Jungkook was thinking on how to answer his son's quite complex yet not so complex question.
Oh, wait until Jimin hears about this.
"Mama! Papa!" Namjoon turned, seeing his friend going over to her parents while Namjoon scanned his surroundings, waiting for his parents.
It wasn't until he saw his dad's little ponytail did the young boy beamed and called for his dads.
"Daddy! Appa!" He watched as his parents' eyes landed on him and they beamed with a certain happiness as they stretched their hands out, waiting for their son who was running up to them and hugged them tight.
The two giggled, as Jungkook pulled the little adorable squirt into a piggyback ride. Namjoon yelled in glee, holding onto his appa tightly as the young dad spun a little.
Jimin watched, a smile wide on his lips before he took out his phone and recorded the duo. He even took a few pictures and sent it to their family group who all adored his son and husband.
Ah, despite everything, the young father was glad it all worked out and now they had this little angel as their son. He was so glad and happy he almost missed when the teacher called for them.
"Mr. Park and Mr. Jeon—hello!" Jimin shook his head, smiling as he bowed a little to the teacher and greeted her back with a little 'hello!'
"Namjoonie has been such a good student~" Jungkook smiled, turning to his son.
"Really? Our Joonie's been good, hmm?" He rubbed the little pancake's head as his son nodded in glee and beamed by his teacher's words. Jimin stared at the two with fondness before he turned to the teacher or Mrs. Lee and answered.
"I'm glad to hear that, Mrs. Lee~ I'm glad our Joonie is doing so good~ Thank you for teaching him so well!" Mrs. Lee swayed her hands a little and giggled.
"Oh thank you! But thank you for raising such a good child, Mr. Park and Mr. Jeon." She said, turning to Namjoon and gave the little bean a little rub on the head before going off to greet other parents.
"What? … He asked that?" Jungkook was with Jimin in the living room while Namjoon was showering after a long day at kindergarten.
Jungkook sighed and nodded.
"Yeah … Our little adorable Joonie asked that. What are we gonna answer, love?" Jimin hummed.
"The truth I guess. I mean, we can't keep hiding things from him. Technically he kinda knows he's adopted so this shouldn't be that hard." Jungkook sighed.
"Define 'kinda knows' because I'm pretty sure we hadn't fully told him about it yet." Jimin sighed, rubbing his temples.
"You're right … How about we just tell him everything and see how it goes?" Jungkook hummed, running his hand up and down Jimin's arm.
"Yeah … that sounds like a plan. I hope this doesn't scare him, Minie." Jimin smiled, looking knowingly at his husband.
"Don't worry, Kookie … Knowing our son, I'm sure he's going to accept it well." Jungkook smiled back, nodding before they turned, hearing little footsteps coming from the staircase.
The duo smiled as soon as they saw their son and called for him to come here. The little 5 year old ran to the two men and stopped just a few inches in front of them.
"Yes, Appa? Daddy? Is it about the question?"
"It is, sweetie … so take a seat, hmm? Your appa and daddy are gonna explain!" Namjoon smiled, nodding before he took a seat on their sofas and watched as Jimin and Jungkook took a seat besides him.
"Okay … first of all, do you know what adopt means, baby?" Namjoon put a finger to his chin and cutely hummed.
"Isn't that like when some kids get homes? Don't tell her but Mi-ah told me she's adopted!" Jimin and Jungkook looked at each other, a giggle escaped Jimin's lips as he reached over and ran his hand through his son's hair.
"Hmm … my baby's a smart little baby because that's right, Joonie~ Adoption is when you give someone a home." Namjoon piped up at the praise and hummed.
"Could it be anyone, daddy?" Jimin hummed and turned to his husband who was smiling as he nodded and took it his turn to answer.
"Almost, Joonie but … It's mostly kids. There are some people that get adopted late but kids are most likely to get adopted, baby."
"Kids like me?" Namjoon pointed to himself and Jungkook nodded.
Namjoon was quiet for a while before he turned to his parents and asked. "Am I adopted, daddy, appa?"
Jungkook and Jimin glanced at each other before they both turned to their son, putting a hand each on his shoulders and nodded.
"Yeah … You are, baby but that's okay. Your daddy and appa still love you so much, okay?" Namjoon didn't answer and for a while, Jimin was scared they said the wrong thing or that it was bad timing telling his son all of these things this young.
But then that fear went away as soon as his son got up and literally dumped himself onto his parents and snuggled into them tight.
The parents were quite shocked by their son's sudden actions yet nonetheless found it adorable and would certainly add it to their little book on their son's cute behaviour.
The duo pulled the little one closer and rubbed his back, relief unleashed from their beings.
"Isf thew whey mwoe nnam's diddderenr?" His son asked, muffled. Jimin giggled.
"I'm sorry sweetheart but we can't understand what you're saying. Please raise your head and then talk, hm?"
Namjoon did as he was told and looked up to his parents before asking again. "Is that why my name's different, daddy?"
Jungkook hummed and nodded, a smile wide on his lips as he ruffled his son's hair.
"Ahh, our koala is really smart, Minie." Jimin giggled, nodding before copying his husband's actions.
"Indeed, our adorable little koala's so smart." He beamed as Namjoon whined a little at the constant ruffles but didn't push away his dads' playful ruffles.
Ah, typical adorable Kim Namjoon.
"Appa … daddy?" He thought Namjoon was asleep considering how comfortable and silent the younger was being but apparently he was still awake.
Jimin and Jungkook hummed as they continuously stroked their little angel's head.
"Yes pumpkin?" Namjoon hummed, eyes closed.
"Can I … Can I have one of your family names?" The duo turned to each other, smiles widening on their lips.
"Really? Do you want that?" Jimin leaned down and nuzzled his nose on Namjoon's nose causing the little angel to giggle, swatting with his little hands, muttering out giggly tiny stops.
"Really, daddy, appa!" Jungkook hummed, content watching his husband playing with his son as Jimin muttered out 'that will be arranged, baby' before tickling the day out of their son.
Ah, how adorable it was in the Jeon-Park household.
