Chapter 1: Ghostly shenanigans

Notes:

Okay y'all, some quick notes to start since this is the first chapter.

  1. This will be updated, hopefully, each day. However, maybe some days I won't update for life stuff. Sorry y'all.
  2. Since putting the tags for each and every chapter in the actual fic itself would be a nightmare to look, the most general tags will be there but in each chapter I'll put both the prompt of the day AND any general warnings I think should apply. Please look to those.
  3. Lastly, don't expect high quality stories from there. I'm basically forcing myself to write short stories (around 500 words, give or take) because I suck at doing that and I thought this "challenge" might be a good way to practice that. As you can see with the first chapter I already failed at that, so kudos to me.

Now, let's begin. Prompt of day 1 is Mikey, so let's have some funky times.

Chapter Text

Mikey awakens feeling awfully light. With a groan he tries to get up, but he finds himself unable to do so. With confusion he looks down, realizing that his hand has passed through the ground.

“What the-”

He then realizes that he’s not even in his bed, instead finding himself in the garage. Not only that, but his body is all blue-ish! And floating! AND HE DOESN’T HAVE LEGS!

“OH MI GOSH!” Mikey screams as he tries to get up, only to find out that his body is more or less hovering over the ground. “GUYS! I NEED SOME HELP HERE!”

He hears a ton of steps running towards him and in no time his brothers have reached him, looking confused. Donnie, the voice of reason, speaks eloquently.

“Uh, what is going on here?”

“Mikey!” Raph runs to grab his brother, but panicks when his arms go through his youngest brother’s body. “Oh my god, why are you like-!”
“A ghost!” Leo interrupts, laughing a bit hysterically. “But ghosts aren’t real! You can’t be one!”

“Well, Leon, I clearly am one!” Mikey counters, floating towards his brother with a smirk on his face. “What do you have to say now, huh!?”

Leo backs away, his hands in front of him. “No, there must be a logical explanation for this!”

Mikey starts to chase Leo, the red-eared slider running away from him and hiding behind Raph, but Mikey simply passes through both of them, the brothers shivering for a second. Leo turns around and screams.

“Don’t do that, Mikey!” Leo hugs himself. “That felt weird and I don’t like it!”

“What, you scared?” Mikey laughs lowly, getting closer again.

“Mikey, please don’t do that.” Raph begs, and looks at Donnie. “Have any idea why he’s a ghost?”

Donnie, currently with his goggles over his eyes, simply shakes his head. “I’m afraid I don’t. There doesn’t seem to be any mystic energy emanating from him.”

Mikey’s stomach then makes a loud sound, all the brothers looking at him. Mikey simply shrugs.

“I guess I’m hungry?”

Leo crosses his arms. “How can you be hungry! You-you’re a ghost! You can’t even eat!”

Before Mikey can answer, Raph’s stomach growls even louder, his biggest brother laughing awkwardly.

“Well, it’s a bit late and we haven’t had breakfast yet.”

Suddenly the garage door blasts open, and four guys with some weird clothes enter, carrying what looks like weird leaf blowers.

“You!” One of them screams, pointing the gun at Mikey. “You’re coming with us, ghost!”

He starts the weapon, and suddenly Mikey feels himself being dragged towards them, his world turning dark. He finds himself surrounded in darkness, hearing commotion outside the place he’s trapped in. He hears the muffled screams of his brothers, and he pays attention. Eventually, he can hear Donnie’s voice, whispering.

“Stop that, Leo! You’ll wake him up!”

Mikey makes a curious sound, and finds himself feeling something soft on his feet. He then realizes he can feel his legs again, and there’s something covering over his entire body.

“Look at that!” Leo whisper-shouts back. “You are gonna wake him up with your screaming! Shut it!”

“Oh, sure, it’s not like you dropped everything, Nardo-”

Both of them make a sound at the same time, and is then that Mikey manages to open his heavy eyes, seeing Raph putting a hand over both his brother’s mouths.

“How about you two stay quiet, hm?” He whispers a bit harsh, and then flinches a bit when he realizes Mikey is looking at him. “Oh, hi Mikey.”

Leo and Donnie look at Mikey, the purple brother sighing before removing Raph’s hand from his mouth.

“Well, he’s awake now. You may now thrash the place as you desire, Leo.”

Leo smiles widely and grabs a chair, but Raph holds his arm before he can throw it.

“I don’t think so, Leo.”
“Oh, well,” Leo shrugs as he puts the chair back on. “I’m hungry anyway. I’m going to the kitchen.”

As Donnie leaves with Leo, Raph extends a hand to Mikey, who uses it to help himself get up from the beanbag chair he was sleeping on, holding the blanket he had over him wrapped on his shoulders.

“You feel asleep while watching Ghostbusters and we didn’t want to wake you up.” Raph laughs softly, scratching his neck. “But I guess we busted that one, huh?”

“Nah, it’s fine!” Mikey answers, patting his brother’s arm. “I’m hungry too, actually. Wanna go eat some pizza?”

“Sure! Wait, do we have pizza left?”

“Oh, Raphael.” Mikey sighs as he pats his brother while they’re leaving the TV Room. “We always have some pizza.”
