The air comes out of Izuku’s mouth in short puffs. “Here?” He questions for the umpteenth time.
“Deku. I swear to Christ. I’ve said it twenty times, I’ll tell you when we get there.” The blond walking in fronting him grumbles.
Izuku pouts but continues to follow his fiancé up the trail. It’s already been four hours and they still have to walk back.
The couple had originally planned to have this hiking trip the upcoming weekend but they were both being called out to different, very long missions.
Deku’s was estimated to last 2 weeks because how much was unknown about the villain and they didn’t have a clear guess on her quirk and how exactly she executed her crimes. He’d be working very closely with the police and being on a specially made force to apprehend her.
Katsuki’s wasn’t any better his was suspected to last over a month. He was going to America and infiltrating a well known drug dealers and human traffickers. The goal was to destroy it from the inside and gather information for the gang leaders arrest.
With the long missions ahead they had arranged to do the hike today, the day before they move out. Katsuki’s idea. A stupid one, in Izuku’s opinion at least. He wanted to stay home, cuddle and watch movies with his fiancé before he won’t see him for a month!
Izuku sighs loudly. He was getting tired and hungry. It’s almost one in the afternoon. Did they really have to walk all the way here? At first he liked the air and the biota but it lost its charm after the first hour.
Kacchan had promised a wonderful lunch when they found a proper place to rest so Izuku has been calling out and asking anywhere that was vaguely suitable to settle, “Here?” He tries again.
Katsuki looks over his shoulder to Deku and around the area, wooded but with a large flat rock to sit on. He keeps on walking and simply answers, “No.”
The green haired man groans in frustration at the answer but follows his childhood friend anyway.
Izuku at some point had closed his eyes and just followed the sound footsteps ahead on him before, “Here.” Kacchan’s gruff voice calls to him.
It takes a second to register in Izuku’s far away thoughts. “Here?!” He repeats excitedly.
His fiancé nods before taking the stuffed bag off his shoulders and pulling out items. A blanket folded out and set out on the lush grass.
If Izuku strained to listen he could hear a river nearby, the place Kacchan had picked was way more beautiful than Izuku had been expected. They had been in thick woods for most of the hike but now they were in a bright clearing that could clearly over see acres of colorful flowered land.
“Don’t just stand there. Start unpacking, nerd.” Katsuki calls out from pulling a some silverware are paper plates out of his bag and setting them on the large plaid blanket.
“Right!” He says before placing his own smaller bag near the blanket and opening the top flap. Three medium Tupperware containers are pulled out by the young man.
They take a few minutes opening and arranging the containers of food on the blanket surrounded by daisies before settling down.
Izuku lets out a satisfied sigh when he gets comfortable. Katsuki sitting next to him already digging in his bag for the flavor packets for their waters. Katsuki’s a special sugar free kind, of course.
They couple starts eating and chatting about...well, everything. They don’t have any secrets. Something Izuku is always proud to say.
As always the food Katsuki prepared was impeccable and left Izuku feeling sleepy from his gorging but his fiancé beat him to it and laid his spiky blond head on Izuku’s lap.
“Fifteen minutes.” Katsuki says, “After that we pack our shit and walk back.”
Izuku hums in agreement and starts threading his fingers through his fiancé’s hair. He will never admit it but Katsuki gets clingy when he knows they’re going to be a way for a while so before he goes he’s practically glued to Izuku.
Izuku finds it adorable.
The minutes pass slowly. Izuku uses his time to pick the nearby daises and starts tying them together in a tight knit line. Satisfied with that he picks dandelions and starts putting them randomly in the chain.
How was Kacchan even going to know fifteen minutes has passed? Izuku didn’t see him set an alarm.
After what Izuku is sure has been longer than fifteen minutes, Katsuki lifts his head from his fiancé’s lap. “Alri-“
The man is cut short by scarred hands gently placing a recently made flower crown on the top of his head. His face contorts to mild annoyance before smiling softly. A rare but beautiful thing.
“Thanks, nerd.” Katsuki says with an unwavering sincerity Izuku will never get used to. “But where’s yours? Fuck fifteen minutes. We ain’t leavin’ til I make you a daisy chain too.”
Izuku laughs as his fiancé stands up with unwavering determination and searches for the best daises in the meadow. This will take a while.
