Day 4- DaiHaru (G)

Daisuke serenades Haru with a love song

_________________________

It was about 10 am when Haru was called to the main lobby. Something about a 'special request' or so and so. The rest decided to tag along to see what it was, the boredom of just lazing around apparently getting to them. To his surprise he saw mostly everyone else in the lobby as well, looking equally confused or curious. Even Hoshino and Araki went to check out the commotion.

In the crowd, he saw a familair head of slicked back hair. Haru's jaw dropped as he saw him. He was supposed to be on vacation with Suzue in Hawaii, but he was here, in a suit and tie, a bouquet of flowers and a heart shaped box of chocolates under his arm. Saeki excitedly pushed Haru towards him.

"K-Kambe!?" Haru stuttered, and looked down at the flowers and chocolates. He could hear Kamei freaking out in the background, yelling about getting the camera. "Kambe," Haru started again, "What is this about?"

Suddenly, Suzue appeared and handed Daisuke a guitar. Upon further inspection, Katou realised that he had an earpiece with a mini microphone attached.

Takei, who had just walked in, gaped at the two but then grinned, taking a seat next to a stunned Hoshino and Araki. Moriyama seemed content to just lean on a wall, a strange bittersweet smile on his face.

Saeki and Suzue pushed Haru onto a chair, to which the detective responded by squawking indignantly. He was maneuvered a somewhat reasonable distance from Daisuke as the man adjusted his guitar and took a deep breath.

"The world used to be dim and boring. I nearly lost all meaning in going on, with the only motivation being my mother's death and my father's disappearance. But then, you slowly introduced all manner of colors and meaning in my life. Gold was no longer the color of money, but the color of your eyes. Red was no longer the color of blood, but the color of the blush on your cheeks and your jacket. Every color had a meaning related to you, and I began to realise how easily you became the world to me,"

Haru gasped, cheeks coloring a soft shade of pink as Daisuke continued on with his speech.

"I hear the melody of your laughter in the soft chirping of the birds. I see your eyes in the soft glow of the sunset. In a world devoid of meaning, you breathed life;"

Daisuke sighed, "But you don't seem to see that, you don't believe that you're worth something. You throw yourself into danger, risking it all for everyone else. You're a beautiful man with a heart too big for your body, and it pains me to see you throw yourself away like that, "

A few people nodded, and Daisuke continued,"Everyone here sees it, everyone but you, Haru. I'm not good with emotions, but let me try this once to convey how I feel."

With a deep breath, Daisuke steadied himself and strummed his guitar. He opened his eyes and stared directly into Haru's eyes as he finished strumming the intro,

"Oh his eyes, his eyes make the stars look like they're not shining."

Daisuke remembers the first time he looked into those eyes. Defiantly looking back up at him in anger and irriation. Those eyes continued to shine with fury until he earned Haru's trust. For as beautiful as his anger was, the carefree gleam in his eyes was even more beautiful. The gentle fluttering of his lashes as he laughed, the full trust in them as he let his guard down and put his faith in Daisuke.

Really, the Kambe scion was doomed from the start. How could he not fall in love with eyes just like that? When the gods themselves decided to bless this human with the eyes of heaven, the dew of the stars, did they expect him to be left alone?

Seeing all the people who had fallen victim to Haru's eyes, it was clear that Daisuke was bound to fall just as everyone else did.

And again, he watches with rapture the way Haru's eyes widened in shock, cutely looking down as he blushed and played with the petal of the flowers.

"His hair, his hair falls perfectly without him trying."

Haru's fluffy hair was so endearing. Sometimes, he would tuck in the loose strands of his hair behind his ear and Daisuke damn near looses his cool. Imagine that, the richest man in the world, having a heart attck because of a pretty detective tucking his hair behind his ear.

And again, Haru repeats that nervous habit and Daisuke nearly loses it right then and there too.

Why did he have to be so perfect?

"He's so beautiful and I tell him every day..."

He let his honesty shine through with his voice. Every moment spent dreaming of Katou, wishing he could hold him in his arms and never let go, wishing he could shield him from the horrors of this cold, hopeless world. His beautiful spring, always believing in the good and justice of everyone.

'He's not the type to kill people' And Daisuke believed it. Maybe if such a beautiful person existed, this world wasn't so bad after all.

"Yeah, I know, I know when I compliment him he won't believe me. And it's so, it's so sad to think he don't see what I see, but every time he asks me 'Do I look okay?', I say..."

Haru hid his face behind his hands. He didn't know how to feel. He liked his partner for a long time now and resigned himself to playing the supportive friend. But to have his dreams come true, to have Daisuke singing about how he feels about him?

Surely a thirty year old detective who barely gets a wink of sleep, eats cup noodles and drinks coffee everyday could barely be called beautiful or pretty.

As happy as he was to hear it, he didn't want Daisuke to end up with a mess like him. He could get anyone he wanted with just a wave of a hand. He was just so powerful and handsome, there was no way-

Sensing Haru's self loathing, Daisuke rushed over and held his face in his gloved hands, forgetting his guitar on the floor. Luckily, Suzue came in with the save and began playing for him,

"When I see your face, there's not a thing that I would change!" Daisuke sang, caressing Haru's cheek with this thumb, "Cause you're amazing, just the way you are!"

"And when you smile..." Daisuke chuckled and used his thumbs to gently lift the sides of Haru's mouth into a smile, "The whole world stops and stares for a while..."

It was the truth. Daisuke could see how people were instantly charmed or calmed by Haru's laugh or his smile. He knew that Haru had no idea of his power, of the things he could do with that pretty smile of his. Daisuke would be lying if he said he wasn't one of the people affected by that smile.

"Cause, Haru, you're amazing just the way you are..."

Daisuke blinked in surprise to see the tears rolling from Haru's eyes and his heart nearly dropped inti his stomach.

But then Haru started laughing and damn near tackled him onto the floor. If it weren't for his upper body strength built from years of boxing, he probably would've fell from the shock.

"I love you so much, you bastard!" Haru laughed, wiping his tears on Daisuke's chest, "You're so extra, you could've just told me any other way!"

"I wouldn't be Kambe Daisuke if I wasn't extra, darling." he smirked and kissed Haru's forehead, "I love you, Katou."

"Just... Just call me Haru, Daisuke."

Daisuke contemplated it, before answering, "I'll continue to call you Katou for now. Until you're finally a Kambe, of course."
