Work Text:
As much as Shouta tried to fight it a small smile had fought its way to his face as he watched the twenty kids that were around him who like himself were covered in different kinds of ingredients from their morning of baking.
If he’s being honest he had no clue how these hellspawns of his were able to get him to bake so early in the morning when they would have had plenty of time to bake for their Halloween night of fun in the afternoon.
Well, that wasn’t completely true but he told himself that he just didn’t want to hear them beg so early in the morning before he had his second cup of coffee and not that it was the fact that nearly all of them had used what Hizashi and Nemuri liked to call “kitten eyes” on him.
He silently cursed his two best friends for giving that action a name since now it made it really and as much as he tried to fight it sometimes Shouta couldn’t. This is what led him to where he was now leaning against the counter his inky black hair pulled back in a bun and his black sweats covered in cupcake mix, brownie mix, and frosting.
Shouta looks around at the kids before him noting where each of them is just like he normally does whenever he’s in the same room as them all wanting to make sure that they were all safe.
Mina and Kirishima are busy stirring some brownie batter and not so sneakily adding chocolate chips into the already chocolatey mix. Surprisingly Koda is next to them Mina encouraging him to add a few chocolate chips as well which the shy young man does much to the pink girl’s joy.
Not surprisingly next to their little group is, of course, Bakugo, Sero, Denki, and the newest member of their class Shinso who replaced Mineta about a week ago; Shouta’s glad that the young man has made fast friends with everyone. Their little group is busy decorating cupcakes and caramel apples placing sprinkles and chocolate chips on everything.
For a moment Shouta wonders if he should take the chocolate chips away from the group as a whole but seeing the smiles on their faces he quickly decides against it.
His attention is brought soon brought to Izuku who cheerfully asks to use the pumpkin and bat-shaped sprinkles which Bakugo gives him without a fight.
With Izuku who is sprinkling the fun sprinkles into the cupcake batter are none other than Iida, Uraraka, Tsuyu, and Shoto but this time joining their group are Jiro and Hagakure who are mixing bowls that contain both brownie batter and cupcake batter. He hears laughter coming from them which makes his heart swell.
A few thuds bring his eyes away from them and over to Momo, Shoji, Tokoyami, and Dark Shadow. He notes that Dark Shadow looks a little sheepish about something and Shouta guess it’s the few apples that are now covering the floor. The others are assuring him that it’s okay since none of the apples were covered in caramel yet and that they only needed to be washed off which Tokoyami does to show Dark Shadow that everything is okay and there was no harm done. Another smile spreads to Shouta’s face as he sees Dark Shadow calm down.
Finally, his attention is brought to Ojior, Aoyama, and Sato who were making the actual meal instead of the sweets. They were using Halloween cookie cutters that they had somehow gotten from somewhere to cut the sandwiches they were making into ghosts, pumpkins, bats, and cats. They were going so quickly having come up with a work line that helped them work as they talked. Shouta didn’t know what they were talking about only able to catch bits and pieces of the conversation but they seemed to be enjoying themselves and that’s all the underground hero could ask for.
Shouta had been helping every single group that surronded him and he had to admit it had been fun though it might have just been the fact that he enjoyed spending time with his kids not that he would ever tell them that.
As he stood there looking around he felt a warmth spread through him watching all of them work together as best as they could.
“How did I get stuck with students like all of you?” Shouta asks more to himself than to the others so lost in his thoughts that he didn’t even notice that Tsuyu had walked over to him to ask something and was now standing next to him eating some brownie batter from a spoon.
“Just lucky I guess,” Tsuyu says brightly as she looks at her teacher who seemed to finally notice she was there with him.
Shouta couldn’t help but blinks in slight surprise before letting her see the soft smile on his face before quickly hiding it with his cauldron coffee mug.
He watches her giggle before she goes back to her friends and after a few moments, Shouta goes back to helping his kids.
